Ripping movies onto Macbook Air

I recently bought a Macbook air and want to rip movies onto the disk for when I'm traveling. I bought the Superdrive, but only to get my DVD's onto the hard disk.
How do I do this? Is there some sort of application included in Leopard or do I need to download something external?

sorry, but since ripping is considered illegal in some countries, Apple doesn't allow discussion of such topics here. Of course, it is as important as a handbrake for your car... and you might get a clue from the last sentence.

I am trying to install adobe photoshop onto macbook air with superdrive. How do I do this?

Connect the superdrive and insert the disc, it should start the installer.
If not, Go to Finder > Preferences > General tab > check CDs, DVDs and iPods under Show these items on the desktop. This should give you an icon on the desktop of the Superdrive. Double click the icon and choose the installer app on the DVD.

I can not down load some music from my cds onto macbook air via super drive. These cds can be down loaded onto other computers but they are rejected by my computer.

I'm sorry to hear that . I was lucky that mine was under warranty. It was a bad drive and the replacement drive that was sent by HP works perfectly. My experience with HP support was very good. It took a bit of time to work through all the questions, but once we determined that it was bad, they promptly sent a new one out.
Since Geek squad gave you bad information, i.e., the DVD/CD drive really was bad, can you speak to them? They may be able to help with a good drive in the interest of good customer service. The only other option that I can think of that might work is to try to find an inexpensive used drive from one of the local computer shops in your area or on the net.

You want to download (I assume you meant upload) it to iCloud? If that's what you mean, you can't. iCloud will already have movies purchased from the iTunes store, which can be redownloaded (depending on your location) from your purchased list. Movies from other sources cannot be stored in iCloud, except digital copies or purchased DVDs that are compatible with iTunes.

I have a MacBook Air and I need to free up space...
1) I have three series of a tv show on my itunes which are taking up loads of memory - see image - I want to move these movie files onto a Flash Drive. However I do not want to move my itunes Music onto the flash drive, only my Movies, and want to keep my music on my hard drive.

2) I have managed to copy the movie files onto the flash drive, however when I tried to play one to check that they were loaded properly it didn't have a program that could run the file (they have copied over in a m4V format). Do the MacBook Air's not have a separate program other than itunes that can play movies? If so, is there a program I can get to solve this problem? If you can play the movies in iTunes, you should be able to open the movie files using Quicktime, which should already be on your system. If you have already transferred the files to your flash drive, open the flash drive in Finder, and hold control when you click on the movie file (or right click if you have the enabled) and select Open With Quicktime Player. This should play the movie directly from the flash drive.

You can move the TV shows to your flash drive by dragging them from the iTunes window to your flash drive in Finder or the flash drive icon on the desktop. When you are sure everything is transferred over to your external device, you can delete the movie from iTunes. I recommend playing the videos from the flash drive first before deleting them in iTunes.
To delete the videos from iTunes, you can highlight them and press the delete key on your keyboard. In the next prompt, you would want to move it to the trash so that it is deleted from your internal hard drive.

I want to add my subscription to adobe creative cloud (currrently using it on my desktop mac) onto my macbook air. Adobe says it doesn't comply with its system requirements. My macbook air is around 3 years old so I am not sure which of the following are amiss:
• 64 bit Intel processor
• OS X (I know this is up to date)
• 2 GB RAM (8 GB recommended)
• 2 GB hard disc space
• 1024 x 768 display (1280 x 800 recommended)

As you can see, your MacBook Air is only compatible with some Adobe Creative Cloud apps, but not with all of them. iOS 8.1 is the operating system for iPhones and iPads, not OS X for your Mac. Apps that run on iOS devices cannot run on our Mac and vice versa.
Since the MB Air does not have a DVD drive, in order to import the movie from the disc, you will need an external drive.

That sounds like you internet connection. If you are connecting wirelessly, try connecting direct wire. Otherwise, you need to let the movie download for 10 - 15 minutes, before you click play.

Mine handles iTunes videos ok. Be aware that when you buy the HD version you also get the SD version. The combination is normally 5 gigs or better. If you're going to view the movie on the MBair, SD is probably good enough weighing in at slightly over a gig.

Playing DVD movies on Macbook Air

Can I copy a protected DVD movie on my Intel imac to a USB flash memory card for later playback on Macbook Air without a DVD drive?

Easiest way? Get a windows box and use something like DVD Shrink to grab any of your DVD's (protected or not) and create an iso of them. You could then copy the iso to the USB drive and do whatever you please.
I'm unsure if there is a similar utility for OSX (if that's all you have access to)

How to re-load iPhoto onto MacBook Air from USB

iPhoto has decided that it needs to be re-loaded onto my MBA.
I have iLife '11 on my MacBook Air Software Reinstall Drive, but cannot get iPhoto to work after re-loading.
I can't find any guidance that relates directly to this problem.
iPhoto is generating crash reports, which I've forwarded to Apple with my email address, but no reply.

Can I download Windows 8 directly onto Macbook Air?

Hi,
I would like to install Windows 8 onto my new Macbook. I have not yet bought Windows 8 software, but will download it, hopefully, direct to the Macbook Air.
I have read how to install Windows using existing disks, but not found any answers for downloading directly to the Macbook.

To determine if your Mac supports this feature:
Click the Go menu and choose Utilities.
Open Boot Camp Assistant.
Click Continue. If you see a "Create a Windows 7 or later install disk" checkbox, your Mac supports the use of downloaded (ISO) install images. See the Boot Camp Installation & Setup Guide for more information.

now i want to install it onto my macbook air aswell.
but the macbook air dose not have a disc drive.
can i download it from the net onto my macbook air? ....or how do i install logic onto my macbook air?

If you still have the MacBook Pro, and they ar eno the same network, you could use the built-in OS DVD drive sharing facilities:
On the Pro, go to Preferences:Sharing and enable DVD sharing, then insert the installer disk
On the Air, select Remote Disk when it appears in the Finder sidebar, then follow the prompts on both Macs
Note that Logic will take ages to instal this way.
Alternatively, buy a USB DVD drive

I'm sorry about the caps. I realized that I was typing with my caps lock on, and was too lazy to rewrite this. The thing is that when I try to copy pictures, videos, and music onto my macbook via flash drive, it says it's copying but then when it's finished, the library goes blank. There's no error message with it; my folder goes completely blank.
