Ripple band across scrolling screen

My new Quad-Core seems ok after the migration and general set-ups today but one little niggly issue I have: When a browser is scrolled or a Photoshop file is grabbed and moved at 100% zoom, I get two thin horizontal ripples as the graphics move vertically or horizontally. It's hard to say if these bands are on the same part of the screen (Apple 23" - not new but perfectly ok on the old G5).
I was thinking memory/RAM rather than graphics card (NVIDIA GeForce GT 120) but the 640GB hard drive is largely empty. I partitioned into three volumes with the migrated data from my old machine in the main one and the others still with nothing.
Any ideas?

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Not normal. Take it to an Apple Store for evaluation.

  • Waking up MBP and Time Capsule causing a quick "ripple affect" across my screen

    Hi all,
When I wake my MBP up from sleep mode I can hear this slight little noise in my Time Capsule like it's waking up to.  After this happens there are a few quick "ripple affect" lines that qucikly go across the top of my screen.  Anyone ever hear of this?

    Reinstalled OS
Actually, you didn't need to do that.  All you had to do was start from the Recovery HD and do the restore.  It restores everything, including OSX, from the backups.
You can even restore from an earlier backup if necessary, even if it's a different version of OSX.
(Conclusion: PLEASE could the guys and gals who invented Time Machine (+ Time Capsule) read this!!
Very unlikely.  This is a user-to-user forum.  It's supplied by Apple, but their technical folks almost never browse here.
However, Apple does provide a Feedback page at:  http://www.apple.com/feedback/timemachine.html
They claim to read every submission, but never respond.
And/or, I've noticed in these days of e-mail everywhere, an old-fashioned physical snail-mail letter is a bit unusual, so sometimes gets more attention.

  • My laptop has a wide band across the screen, my laptop has a wide band across the screen

any help my screen has a wide vertical band tath comes on go ,on diferentes colors

Generally, you are in for an expensive repair, (assuming it is out of warranty.)  FYI: Mom's iMac is about 7 years old and it too has developed three tiny green lines running vertically through the screen.  A replacement is in order, which is unfortunately going to plague all LCD buyers over time.
Yours is probably a ribbon-cable come unglued, so to speak. They are very thin and the contacts are volatile, and not every'qualified' hardware geek is physically able to fix such baic, but intricate issues. There is a simple utility which tests the screen-resolution, and this may hepl a techie to discern any specific processor faults, but I'm not sure how it might help your actual problem.. http://www.xbench.com/

  • Screen display is blurry or ripple effect when scrolling

I have a 15 inch 2.53 Pro and when I am in Safari the screen has a horizontal ripple effect across the screen when I am scrolling. This is slightly worse when I use the vertical scroll bar vs. two-finger scrolling. The overall effect is that the screen is slightly blurry and hard on the eyes to read until the scrolling is stopped. This is a new machine and I have just installed Word suite for students. Any suggestions? I have an iMac that is a few years old and this does not happen on it. Thanks.

Mine too have this on my new MBP ( September 2009).
It's more evident in Safari, but show also in finder while scrolling. It is not related to font antialiasing because enlarging page text in Safari (cmd +) the blurry effect is still there.
I'm very disappointed of lcd screen quality, too much fatigue to eyes.
Could be considered a screen hardware defect?

Turned on the ipad after long period of inactivity to find a grey fuzzy band across the screen. Anyone know why and how to fix it?

Yes. That didn't work but after leaving it on charge overnight the band disappeared???

  • Horrible Blue Bands appear on screen after Mavericks update

    Hi there,
I recently upgraded to Mavericks and was greeted with a horrible strip of vertical blue bands across the screen with shimmerings in places that are grey.
When I attempt using Photoshop, all my gradients were appearing as low res bands.
My videos are worse hit as they all appear in low res.
Please, is anyone out there with a solution for me? I am a Graphic Designer and the concept of guessing colors right now is not healthy. Help me.

  • Time scrolls across the screen each minute

does iPhone have an active notification feature where the time scrolls across the screen each minute?   Or is there an app that does this?
I saw a Motorola smartphone yesterday that had this feature.  It would be fabulous !!!!!!

TThe feature I saw didn't require touching the phone, the time automatically scrolled across just for a few seconds, each minute.
FAbulius for for a massage therapist who uses her hands to work on clients but wants to know the time.
are you suggesting that if I unlock my phone, I can see the time on my phone without touching the phone?   Is this constant and therefore a drain on my battery?  Then too my phone isn't locked.
IM missing something for sure. can you explain?
thank you for your kind assistance.

  • Screen ripple effect when scrolling after installing Mavericks?

Since downloading Mavericks some three weeks ago, my screen ripples (wave effect) when scrolling.
Dominic kindly responded a short time ago with the suggestion it could be Autocad update related.
All traces of Autocad wiped from my machine but still experiencing this ripple effect when scrolling.
Beginning to wish I had not updated to Mavericks.
    Help!!!

it is possible that zoom maybe enabled i think double taping with three fingers should disable it.
or you can go into settings>general> assessability> zoom and turn it off.
    hope this helps

  • IMac Display -- White band across screen

I recently noticed a white band across the top half of my screen. The line is about 3-5 tall and runs the entire width of the screen. This is incredibly annoying. The so-called Genius at the Apple store said I would have to pay about $800 to replace the display, which is ridiculous. It is time that Apple match product quality with design quality or fix these problems.

I have the same issue.. although it isn't terribly noticeable yet... It has crept up using this computer for a month. The computer has only been in use for 1-1/2 months. I have multiple band running width wise down the entire screen.

  • Is there any way I can get the pictures on my iPhone 5c to be the whole screen instead of with a black band across the top and bottom?

My new phone only let's me take pictures with a black band across the top and bottom instead of the whole screen, does anyone know how to change this?

  • Blank white band across bottom of screen

Sometimes when I turn on my new MacBook there is a thick (more than 1" wide) blank, white band across the bottom of the screen, and the rest of the screen display is squeezed (elongated) into the remaining space. If I then put the MacBook to sleep and wake it up, the screen returns to normal.
Any idea what is going on? And what I should do?
It occurs to me that my MacBook might be "confused" because I sometimes use it with an external monitor and sometimes I don't..... Coudl that be the explanation?
    thanks!
    Peter

I am still having this problem. It especially occurs when I am not connected to my external monitor and running off the battery. Has nobody else had this problem? Does anybody know what the problem is?
    Thanks.

  • Dark area extending in a band across top of screen

This may be a variant on this problem: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1191580&tstart=0.
I have a irregular dark band across the top of July 2005 20" iMac display. It looks like thick dust - behind the display. I suspect it's some kind of LCD delamination.
I have a picture of it on a blog post, but Apple doesn't allow personal URLs in posts. I've seen images in forum posts, but I don't know how to do that!
Anyone know the cause and outlook? I'm betting I will have to live with it until it gets worse -- any repair is likely to be pretty darned expensive (no AppleCare). I'm disappointed to have the display dying after about 2.5 years of life -- I expected more.

I've gotten a comment on my blog from someone with a similar problem. I suspect it's delamination of the LCD panel probably related to the well known heat issues of the G5 iMac line (Hot hot chip, small space).
I haven't contacted Apple because I don't have Apple Care on the machine and it's out of warranty. (I get an extra year through my AmEx card, so I had two years of coverage. The extra year from the card is why I don't buy Apple Care.)
I would call them if the problem were more common, since then there would be a (small) chance of some kind of extended warranty problem, but I haven't really seen that many complaints. It's probably a bit unlucky to get it.
If it doesn't get worse I'll just ignore it, but if it does worsen I'll probably buy a second display (if the iMac supported extended desktop I'd already have the second display) and making it a children's machine.
