Risks involved in EHP4

Hello,
I would like to know the risks involved in implementing EHP4 for SAP ERP 6.0. Is there any document/sap note that talks about this?
Also, at the moment we are installing EHP4 in DEV box and not in QA and PROD. Will this cause any issues with transports between the systems? What are the risks if only the DEV box is on EHP4 and the others still on EHP3?
Any help would be highly appreciated.
Thanks,
Ajay

  • What are the risk involved in Database Migration from Oracle 7 to oracle10G

    HI,
As a business requirement me are need to migrate our current production database (Oracle 7.3.4) to Oracle 10G R2.
I need to understand the Risk involved in doing so and corrective action required.
Your small input is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

As a business requirement me are need to migrate our current production database (Oracle 7.3.4) to Oracle 10G R2.
    There is no risk.
but you can't upgrade directly from 7 to 10g.
you need to upgrade first 7 to 9 then 9 to 10g ( i would recommend to go with 11g)
    Or
If database size is small the best is EXPORT /IMPORT. easy fast safe.
http://tahiti.oracle.com ===check the upgrade guide for more details.
You need to test the completely upgrade process on TEST eviourment before doing anything in production.
becuase a lots of changes between two database version.
    1. You may be face "Performance" issue after upgrade. so need to check properly.

  • Expense Reports in PrePay Audit no longer show risks involved

I have expense reports in my Prepay audit queue that contain risks as defined by the Refinement Template, however the reports are no longer flagged to identify the specific risk involved. My Tech Support Admin says she has to "Resave" the template to allow future reports submitted to be flagged accordingly, but it will not "Reflag" the current list of reports. My question is why does this template fail and have to be "resaved"? There is no indicator that lets me know at what point it fails and risks are no longer flagged.
My current process for the prepay audit queue is to save the risk information in the comment field so when I have time to research all i have to do is look at the comment. Now when the template fails, this risk information is no longer available so if i don't save it the first time, i have no idea that the report may have a duplicate transaction or is out of policy and is at risk of being paid in error.
    Any help is appreciated!

  • Risk involved converting Oracle character set to Unicode (AL32UTF8 or UTF8)

    Hi All -
I am a PL/SQL devloper and quite new in Database Adminstration have very little knowledge base on this.
Currently I am working on project where we have requirement to store data in Multiple Languages in Database.
After my findings via Google I am clear that our database character set needs to be changed to Unicode (AL32UTF8 or UTF8). Before moving forward I would like to know what are the risk involved doing this?
    Few Question:-
Would this change take long time & involve lots of effort ?
Can we revert back once this chnage is done, with no data loss?
Will there be any changes required while wrting SQL on tables having multi language data?
As of now requirement to store data in Multi Language is very specfic to some tables only, not the whole DB, are there any other options storing data in diffrent languages like (Spanish,Japnese,Chinese,Italian, German, and French) in just one specific table?
    Thanks...

Will there be any changes required while wrting SQL on tables having multi language data?If you move from single byte character set to multi byte character set, you should take into count that 1 character my use 1,2,3 or 4 bytes to be stored: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14225/ch2charset.htm#i1006683
This may impact SQL or PL/SQL code that is working on character string lengths.
Note also that using exp/imp to change database character set is not so simple; see following message:

  • Risks involved while upgrading to Sol 10 from Sol8.

    Hi,
I want to port my existing software from Solaris 8 to Solaris 10.
So, I want to know the risks involved on the basis of :
    1. System Call prototype changes.
    2. Path to executables.
    3. output file path changes.
Please let me know other risks and concerns.
    thanks in advance!

I want to port my existing software from Solaris 8 to
    Solaris 10.
So, I want to know the risks involved on the basis of
    1. System Call prototype changes.User code doesn't normally do direct system calls,
    but use libc instead.
But I doubt that any system calls have changed.
There may be some new ones, though.
    2. Path to executables.Shouldn't have changed.
    3. output file path changes. This would depend on your application,
    I would think.
Please let me know other risks and concerns. Many Solaris 8 applications will just run on Solaris 10.
    Checkout:
    http://developers.sun.com/solaris/articles/appcert.html
    When building on Solaris 10,
    there could be some differences
in the header files, like /usr/include/sys/*,
    that you might run into.
Also, some of the new functions/interfaces
in the #include files in /usr/include might clash with
    names in your source files.
I don't have a list of the differences
    or remember seeing one.

We're wondering if there any risks involved with turning this on. There are the obvious risks i.e. something new/different is a risk and of course users will be adding sieve rules to their accounts which increases load on the messaging server MTA. You would need to add a lot of rules to be a problem though.
In general though the risk is minimal.
Why isn't this turned on by default?Customer who run messaging server don't necessarily have a webserver installed which is required to host the MailFilter.war so it isn't enabled by default.

  • Any document explaining Risks involved in assigning "Delegation Permission" to a computer for Kerberos Authentication

Need SSO on CRM 2013. As per documents assigning Delegation Permission in Kerberos Authentication is mandatory to achieve SSO in CRM 2013.
Before doing that need to evaluate risks in doing so. Any help or document for the same is helpful.
    Devesh

    Hi Devesh,
“The idea of delegation in Kerberos is that if a user makes a request to a final resource, and some
intermediary accounts must process the request, then those intermediary accounts can be trusted to delegate on the user’s behalf. You can configure an account for delegation by using Active Directory Users and Computers as a domain administrator.
Select Trust this user/computer for delegation to any service (Kerberos) under the Delegation tab of the user or computer account.”
    Quoted from this article below:
    Using Kerberos for SharePoint Authentication
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/ee914605.aspx
From my point of view, as long as the intermediary account can be trusted, then it is safe.

  • Risk involved in N95 Firmware update

I want to update my N95 firmware but at the same am frightened that if my internet disconnects during update process, then what would happen. Is there any risk for my N95 if such thing happens. If the update is not complete and my internet didconnects, then would my N95 work properly?
Is there any way I can download the latest firmare to my PC and then update N95 from PC via cable?

Do not attempt the update if you use dial-up internet. You need broadband.
I've read that a lot of people have had phone failures when using dial up.
If you don't have broadband or a stable connection then visit a care point/service centre and ask them to do it. It's free while the phone is under warranty.

  • ALE between ECC6 EhP5 et ECC6 EhP4

I was wondering if there are any risks working with two different EhP versions between HCM (EhP5) and FICO (EhP) through an ALE connection. It should depend on the content exchange between these domaines, and at this stage of the project only basic content (such Cost Center, Company Code, etc.) should be bound between HCM and FICO through ALE.
Is someone out there already experienced this ALE connection between EhP5 and EhP4 and if so, how did it work?

    Hello Lionel,
If your only worry is about the risk involved in transferring data from one EHP to other EHP, Then there is no risk involved in this, ALE transfer will work perfectly, there would be no issue. Moreover EHP are based on ECC 6.0 base, So the base is same in both the cases. ALE transfer will work in the same manner you need to create IDOC structure on both the sides and then do the further activities.
Hope the above should be helpful.
    Best Regards,
    Deepak

  • SOD and Risks

I was going through the SOD listed at http://www.*********************/sox_sod/sod_matrix.htm and I was wondering why the following are in conflicts:
    Conflicts by business process
    1) AP Invoice Verification and AP Payment Runs/ Clearing

    3) Delivery Goods Issue and Cash Receipts/ AR Credit Memos
    4) Delivery Goods Issue and Customer Master

    8) Purchase Order and AP Payment Runs/ Clearing
    9) Purchase Order and Receiving
    10) Receiving and Inventory Adjustments
    11) Sales Order and Cash Receipts/ AR Credit Memos
    12) Vendor and AP Invoice Verification
    13) Vendor and AP Payment Runs/ Clearing
I would like to understand the risks involve in the above conflicts and what the risk levels are for each one.
    Thanks in advance!
    Bliss

I think you'd best talk to some functional people about this. I think I can see some danger in the process combinations you mention but the real risk depends on your company's processes and control measures.
    For instance:
People who can edit customer masters and sales orders could easily set the customer delivery addres to a fake one (their own for instance), create a sales order and set the address back to the original. If the changes on delivery addresses are monitored/logged this is not such a big risk.
The same goes for a lot of items in your list. Basically you do not want transactional data and customer/vendor masterdata to be maintained by the same person. Just to avoid them changeing masterdata, creating orders, accepting invoices and releasing payment runs after which they can change back the masterdata.

  • Risks and benefits with developement platforms?

    Hi,
I'm wondering about the risks involved with different developement platforms such as xampp or other software like it. Previously I've been running EasyPHP and xampp as well as apache php and mysql each by them self in a windows environment restricted to the local ip range. However since the past year I've mostly used either a FreeBSD machine or my Arch Linux setup (my main computer) and I'm thinking of using xampp on this setup but I'm unsure about what potential threats it poses. Any tip on how to get a smooth and secure yet powerfull and customizable developement platform is greatly appreciated!
What are the critical risks requiring immediate action post installation?
Is there maybe another more customizable LAMP or one that's better suited for Arch?

Clustering will make ZERO difference to most standard GUI apps.
Where it will make a difference is in applications that have been specifically written to take advantage od distributed computing. For example, complex mathmatical simulations, video encoding, gene sequencing, etc. In these applications the workload can be divided into chunks and passed out to nodes in the cluster for processing. When each node completes its calculations it passes the result back to the master node and waits for the next task
This model doesn't apply to iChat (you can't IM any faster than you can type), or iTunes (ok, audio encoding might benefit, but most tracks encode pretty quickly and you might find the time it takes to transfer the raw audio data over the network outweighs the advantages).
From a developer standpoint you can distribute your compiler tasks across a grid so that each node compiles a chunk of code and the master handles the final linking, but that's about the only advantage I can think of off-hand, unless you're planning on writing a distributed app.

Anand: Risks Involved depends on what all aspects\Scenarios the Solution Manager System is used for. It Could be used for the following purposes
    1) Service Desk
    2) Solution Monitoring
    3) System Monitoring
    4) Change Management

  • Risk Management in PS

    Hi everyone!
Does anyone know if the there's any functionality in SAP to handle Risk Management?
What the client needs to know is if SAP has any available tool to manage risks in project. When they are building up the solution for a client, they consider several risks that may arise. And during the execution of the project, they monitor those risks constantly. They can occurr or not, and sometimes other risks not detected can arise and have to be handled. Do you know if there's something in PS to address this?
    Thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    Thalos.

    Hi
Yes, it is possible to handle risk management in SAP PS.
Risk management need to consider the following:-
    a) Event: What could happen?
    b) Probability: How likely is it to happen?
    c) Impact: How bad will it be if it happens?
    d) Mitigation: How can you reduce the Probability (and by how much)?
    e) Contingency: How can you reduce the Impact (and by how much)?
    f) Reduction = Mitigation X Contingency
    g) Exposure = Risk u2013 Reduction
Event you need to link with your network activities, means each activity you need to identify the risk involved.
Probability and Impact of the risk should be recorded on each activity which can be done through user fields.
For Mitigation and Contingency you can use DMS to maintain on each network activity.
If any Risk/ event occurred on an activity which you can identify through user status, and reporting can be done through notification.
If detailed mitigation plan need to be recorded you can record it through notification using class and charecteristics in order to record the values.
Create a Query / Z report to analyse the risk.
    Tnx.
    Abdul

  • What's a high risk merchant account online?

For some industries, merchant accounts can be more difficult to obtain as they are thought to be a high risk by the merchant account provider. Such industries include:
    +• Replica Products • Dating • Telemarketing • Adult • Multi-Level Marking • Cell Phone • Auctions • Travel • Pharmacy • Gambling • Pornography •+
Banks and third party merchant account providers consider these industries a higher risk due to a higher level of charge backs, returns/refunds and credit card fraud. As a result of the high risk associated for the provider of the merchant account, there are higher rates associated with merchant accounts.
It can be difficult to obtain a high risk merchant account from a bank and in most cases can also be quite expensive. Typically speaking, banks do not provide merchant account services to high risk merchants, if they do their rates will be higher than available from a third party provider. Third party merchant account providers can provide accounts to high risk merchants as they have relationships with multiple banks, allowing them to ‘spread’ around the risk.
Due to many competing third party providers, rates for high risk merchant accounts can be significantly lower than those from a bank. However, the rates will be higher in order to offset the risk involved. Typically, application fees for a high risk account range from $500 to $5000, though not all providers charge application fees. Then there are two charges that occur each time a transaction is processed:
+• The transaction fee is a flat rate fee between $0.35 and $0.75+
+• The discount rate is a percentage of the transaction amount, and is usually anywhere from 3% to 15% for a high risk merchant.+
Other fees include monthly statements and services such as fraud protection, as well as charges for refunds and charge backs.
