RM CL-51 laptop driver missing (intel(r) 82801DBM LPC Interface Controller CODE 28

As the heading i have an UNKNOWN DEVICE with a yellow ? beside it. the only thing i can see is it is to do with intel(r)82801DBM LPC Interface Controller with the CODE28 which is no driver installed. I went to intel and downloaded and installed the R114079
driver but still the same. I have tried downloading the drivers from RM and running them but again no help. Can anyone help me with this. it would be much appreciated. i have just bought the laptopwith a fresh install so i think there is a missing driver but
i cannot find it.,....

Unfortunately the hardware drivers are the sole responsibility of the hardware manufacturer. If the device is defective then there is nothing you can do in Windows to make it work. You will have to have some hardware diagnostics run on your system
by a computer repair technician. Troubleshooting hardware problems are not within the scope these forums.
You might obtain more information about the controller in one of the Intel forums where you will find people much more qualified to discuss issues with Intel hardware than here.

Question about Intel 82801FBM LPC Interface Controller in a Tecra A3X

I have had to replace the HDD in a A3X. XP pro sp2 loaded fine and all's well but the device mngr is reporting this Intel 82801FBM LPC Interface Controller as an Unknown Device.
The Intel Chipset ID Utility identifies this as a component of the Chipset 82915GM/GMS/910 GML
I have run the Intel software update utility several times with no joy.
I can find reference's to this driver but cannot find a download for it.
Like I said the laptop seems to running fine except for this Unknown Device.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated

2) Right click 82801
3) Update driver
4) No, not this time -> next
5) Install from a specifin location -> next
6) Dont search I will choose... -> next
7) From the left box choose Intel and from the right scroll down until you meet this strange 82801FMB.... -> next

Continual reboot and device driver missing

Hi, I have a t400 installed with both win7 and ubuntu 11.04. The system suffers from continual reboot, basically when I shutdown the machine, it automatically and forcibly get rebooted.
I have followed some instructions on the web, and there is a device driver missing, which is PCI simple communication controller. I have tried download AMT package, which does not work for me. It gets stucked in a terminal saying that I need insert TN33, which I dont have. My t400 type is 7417. Any comments are appreciated.

continuous reboot occured after installing ubuntu yes ? could you remove ubuntu and have your unit on a mono-boot with windows and see if the same error occurs.
if it doesn't happen, then i suggest heading to Ubuntu forums or the Linux thread in this forum and check with other linux users if they have experience this same issue as you.

Replacing superdrive with a laptop drive or a 3.5" drive.

Is it possible to take out the superdrive and somehow mount a laptop drive in it's place or a low power 3.5" drive? I see that MCE has an "optibay" for laptops who would like to replace their superdrives. I'm just wondering if it's possible to use this on an iMac as well or somehow figure out a way to mount it?

Are you wanting to exchange the superdrive of your new 27" iMac for a 3.5" HD? In which case the answer is yes, but remember that it voids your guarantee, as the only user upgradeable part is the memory. You would be much better off adding a large fast external FW800 drive, at least while in guarantee.
If you did decide to upgrade anyway there are links available on how to open up and change a hard drive. But I would look more carefully at mcetech.com as their web page seems to be way outdated. They are offering to sell OS X v10.5.1(Leopard) and the iMac memory upgrades they offer are of 667MHz DDR2 PC2-5300, while the new iMac's use the much faster 1066MHz DDR3 SDRAM.

Motherboard crashed, hard drive missing LR and 100 gigs of photo files

able to save drive, put in ext ensclosure and hooked it up tp laptop. am able to open My Pictures folder, only 10 gigs worth of pics visible.
should be 126 gigs. most programs still on drive and accessible: i tunes, all canon photo software, etc. the LR catalog is nowhere to be found.
when this drive was in the desktop there was 25 gigs free space left. viewing the drive hooked up to laptop it also shows 25 gigs free.
wondering if this info is false. if not, where are my missing files and LR ???
i do have my stuff backed up but not sure if all of it backed up, specifically some photo files.
have tried booting from the drive instead of from laptop drive, windows would not allow. desktop was xps, laptop is vista. during that boot i actually saw the xps logo come up a couple of times but then it went to vista.
any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like you have two problems. 1) Unable to load LR onto the second system (laptop) and 2) the hard drive with original system files has a corrupted file system due to motherboard failure and system crash.
Problem 1: LR license activation allows loading onto two (2) systems. Did you load LR on two systems prior to the crash, which is now preventing you from activating the copy on your laptop? You may need to call Adobe Tech Support to "free-up" the license on your crashed system.
Problem 2: You will need to some data recovery work, due to a corrupted file system on the original HDD. There are numerous data recovery software applications available as freeware or for purchase:

I only have experience with Acronis True Image Home 2010, and definitely would NOT recommend their products due to bugs and poor tech support. Perhaps someone else on the LR forums can suggest a specific data recovery application?

Can't Install IFFS Driver from Intel on U310

I have a Lenovo U310.
When I run 0wff06ww.exe, which is the installation for IFFS driver from intel, it gives me an error, saying "The Computer Does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software." However, I downloaded this straight from the U310 driver website.
Anyone know the problem?

Windows 7 RC installation on MacBook Pro: 'DVD drive device driver missing'

I'm trying to install the Windows 7 RC on my unibody MacBook Pro (purchased november 2008). I create the partition in Boot Camp, insert the install DVD, and restart the system. Then the Windows setup starts as it's supposed to (Windows is loading files). The install program launches fine, and I get to choose language settings.
And now it all fails. After I've chosen language settings, I get the message: "A required CD(DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now."

I'm kinda baffled by this message. Obviously the drive can be use by the install program, but it still complains of a missing driver. I had no trouble installing the Windows 7 beta earlier this year.
I've done some googling, and it appears to be problem experienced by some others. Someone had the issue on an Asus machine (I think), and the solution was to download the driver and out it on a USB stick. But I can't seem to find the driver for the MBP DVD drive anywhere.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?

After countless days trying to solve this problem, I feel I can now add to the few solutions presented on the various forums of the internet. I'll post here because 1: i'm a mac user for everyday life although like most have as many pc's as well. 2: I already have a login for these forums!
okay so i tried everything from re-burns to usb install (which I could not complete because removable drives are not recognized by xp and I don't have a vista system). The problem for me ended up being because the DVD drive was plugged into the primary master ide channel. My hard drive for the unit i was installing windows on is sata and was configured as such (not bridged into IDE channel by bios). So in a nutshell it seems like the hard drive and the DVD drive are nit picky in regards to the IDE configuration of the drives themselves. This won't help for virtualization on a mac pro I realize but nonetheless is food for thought hopefully for all the people searching for " windows 7 install cd/dvd device driver missing " in their search engine!

Make Bootcamp partition on former laptop drive bootable again

I have my former laptop drive with its OS X partition and its Bootcamp partition. Only the OS X partition comes up on the list when the option key is held down at startup. The Bootcamp partition seems absolutely fine and I can access the files but I can't boot into it because it doesn't come up on the startup options list. I am now running Lion on my new laptop and I'm assuming that to be the problem? Hoping someone can help. I would have liked to have migrated the Bootcamp partition to the new laptop but that seems much more difficult than anticipated because it would appear you can no longer create a blank Windows partition as the install disk has to be inserted when you create the partition. I'd settle for just being able to boot into it on the, now external, drive. I can move the stuff I really want off my old OS X setup to my new laptop and then I could even dedicate the whole external drive to Windows if I wanted - as long as it's bootable!
Any help will be much appreciated. I have searched around and no-one else seems to be describing quite the scenario I have. I tried using refit it sort out the problem but it just didn't seem to do anything - I installed it on the OS X partition on the external drive and perhaps ought to have installed it on the laptop's internal drive instead - not sure - either way it didn't ask for a startup disk to be chosen and has had no effect when I try to startup again.

you have to have the Windows partition on an internally connected drive.
Using Windows on different hardware / motherboard may not work or be stable even.
Re-activation on new hardware
Lots of people want to run Windows off external drive, and answer is no.
Boot Camp Assistant in Lion would be happy to set aside 60GB.
If you don't have the Windows DVD then how do you intend to? do you own one? there are other options includinig buying Windows 7 system builder for Home Premium 64-bit or windows 8.
Parallels may allow you to access and run as a VM using the old Windows.
External Windows may not show in Startup Disk for a number of reasons. - mounting and seeing the drive and NTFS, the use of some NTFS 3rd party drivers for OS X.
Try WinClone latest or something else to image and restore.

Laptop drive as an external?

While I'm waiting for my MBP to arrive I began thinking about what I can salvage from my pismo (MB fried).
I spoke with the local Apple store, and their tech guys use a FW case that takes a hd from a laptop. They use it to transfer data from an old laptop drive to a new one (when someone upgrades).
Unfortunately, they don't know where it came from, or who made it. None of the tech guys have been around since the store opened, but the case has. Everything is worn off (mfg label, case name), so I can't tell who made the darn thing. I searched a couple online stores, did a google, but can't seem to locate it.
Can anyone here offer any help? I'd really like to use the old drive as additional storage.

A lot of companies make FireWire hard drive enclosures, and you can get them sized for 3.5" or 2.5" hard drives. (You want an enclosure for 2.5" drive to fit your PowerBook's hard drive.) There are also USB enclosures, and many have both USB and FireWire ports.
For example, OWC sells "FireWire 2.5" Drive Enclosure Kits" (scroll down the page).
I usually watch dealmac for sales on items like this.
