Rm - Real Media Files - Conversion to MV4

Someone sent me a rm video file (Real Media) that I would like to play on my Xbox 360. Does anyone know how to convert an RM file to mov or mv4 or avi or some other video file format that is supported by something other than Real Media? I would be happy to purchase a converter if someone can recommend a good one.
I only expect to do this one time, BTW.

  • How to convert real media files to quicktime for iPod

I want to know how to convert a real media file into a format that is recognizable by my iPod. Do I need to convert it into a Quicktime movie? And if I already have quick time movies on my computer, will they play on my iPod without any need of conversion?
    Thanks

MP4 is the format you need. You will need a third party program to convert it for viewing on your ipod. See this link
    http://forums.ilounge.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=123067
There are many freeware programs out there for convertering. Beware of people that will direct you to a site where you have to pay for the program. There are many Spammers on this forum that will try to have you buy a particular program. Do a search for free conversion programs and you will find many.

  • Any way of getting Real Media files to play in Front Row?

I was just wondering if there is any way to get Real Media files to play in Front Row? I realise this is probably not possible, but I thought I'd ask people who know more about this than me!!
I do have Real Player installed if that helps......

Probably not right now. Since Front Row uses iPhoto to play slideshows, the DVD Player to play DVDs, iTunes to play MP3s and the QuickTime Player to play videos, there's no way now to change the default video player application. All of those connections are hard-wired into the software. Apple has not released any kind of SDK (software development kit) for third parties to add on to Front Row, so it would have to be an unauthorized hack to get another video player to run. I might suggest you send Apple some Mac OS X feedback and let them know you'd like to see third party add-ons to Front Row.

  • How to Trim Real Media File .rm In Macintosh?

    Any idea?

"Record" it as it plays using any audio capture software. I use WireTap.
If you can't get the correct timing you can open and edit the recording using QuickTime Pro.

  • Real Media .rm files Can they convert to ipod format somehow?

I have several .rm (real media) files that I cannot seem to get converted into an IPOD format with any software I have tried.
Any suggestions or am I just wasting money downloaded software that says it can conver .rm but doesn't?
    Please can anyone help!!!

Nope, not frustrated at all by the "media limitations" of the iPod.
I actually read the supporting media, website description, specs of the device.
I knew in advance it would not support windows media or real media(both bad and in real medias case all but dead).
Apple supported industry standardized, open non-proprietary codecs-just like they do in quicktime.

    Hi Rod,
Attached is a screen dump.  I can understand why when I publish the final flash version to a web server that it does not recognise the path of the FLV file as it is on my local drive.  However when I attempt to place the file name of the file sitting on the web server I get another error message (Refer to screen dump 2).  Obviously I am missing something

  • Embedding Real Media off a DVD-ROM -- problems in Safari

Safari won't play embedded Real Media files off of a DVD-ROM. Description:
I'm trying to embed Real Media files in web pages distributed on a DVD-ROM. It works fine in Firefox (and in Windows), but in Safari, it doesn't work. It takes a long time for the embedded video to even start playing in Safari (about 2 minutes), and then it consistently crashes Safari less than a minute after that. Sometimes it doesn't play at all, but after a few minutes shows a "resource unavailable" error in the Activity window instead. It works perfectly if the files are on the hard drive, or if I'm streaming them over the Internet through Helix Server, but they just won't work when they're embedded off of the DVD-ROM through Safari.
I've tried several Intel and PowerPC machines, all running the latest OS and RealPlayer versions, but I can't get it to work anywhere. I thought it could be disc or drive speed issues, but like I said, even Firefox on these same Macs plays the embedded video with no problems, and of course RealPlayer can open them directly off the disc just fine too. Safari seems to be standing in the way of my universal browser compatibility!
I've contacted Real about this too, but I haven't received a response. Any ideas? Thanks -- Jim

Also, for the embedded Real Media code, I'm essentially just using the code generated here:
    http://cit.ucsf.edu/embedmedia/step1.php
(I can't imagine this matters much, since it works in all other browsers and all other instances other than Safari accessing the DVD-ROM)

  • Real Media Coverter-Video

Hey everyone I was wondering if anyone knew of any FREE Real Media(.rm,.ram) converters that support Mac OS's. This is because I have alot of Real Media video and wish to change it to either .avi,.mpeg,or even .mov .
Thanks for any help/links you have to offer.

Your video archive page is throwing 25 errors.

  • Error -2009 Converting a file to real media

    Hi
I need some help, i've upgraded my Quicktime 7.1.2 to Pro and i can't seem to convert files to real media and i keep getting error -2009 can anybody help??

There's no codec for converting to Real Media that
works on a Mac with QuickTime 7 that I know of; the
one from Real only works with QT6 and earlier. To
covert to Real's format, you may have to use a
    Windows system.
Now I'm confused. I upgraded to QuickTime 7 Pro (I had QT Player 7.1.3) so I could use the Real 10 Export Plug-in. The specs at Real say the plug-in needs QT6.0 or later. I'm getting the same -2009 error. (Original AIFF files were created with Audacity, but I tried turning them into QT files first when I started having trouble.) I understand about the incompatibility with OS 10.4, but I'm running 10.3.9 Panther. Does this mean I'd have to downgrade to QT6 Pro to use the plug-in -- is that even possible? Or is this enterprise a complete loss and I just threw away $30?

  • How do you burn videos taken with myIphone and stored on my computer to a DVD disc.  I purchased and tried using RealPlayer Plus 16 but got error message saying "unsopported media type"?  I alos tried using Real Players file converter with no success!

How do you burn videos taken with my Iphone 4S and stored on my computer to a DVD disc.  I purchased and tried using RealPlayer Plus 16 but got error message saying "unsopported media type"?  I also tried using Real Players file converter with no success!  Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

Probably the OP is no longer paying attention to this unless the OP is subscribed to this discussion.  While not really an iPhone question I guess using an iPhone to produce the movie which then needs taking to the next step makes this as good a starting place as any unless you happen to know enough about what to do to determine in which forum to post.  A suggestion in that direction would help.
Anyway, Apple is backing off from supporting optical media.  It also depends upon what you mean by "DVD".  A DVD is just an optical disc which can support different file formats, but many people think it means a movie disc you can put in your TV.  Producing a movie disc requires special iDVD authoring software Apple used to sell but stopped several years ago.  I don't know if the old versions work under newer systems.  There's also the free Burn application which authors DVDs but takes a bit of learning and has nowhere near the features of iDVD.
If the OP means simply burning the transferred movie files to a DVD for archiving in computer format you don't need special software for that; its built into the operating system File > New Burn folder etc.

  • Creating PC Friendly Real Media Player files...

Hi, at work we are trying to stream our videos onto our website and have been having difficulties. We need to convert our QuickTime files to Real Player Media for them to stream properly on the Video on Demand. For some reason we CANNOT use QuickTime only Real Player Media. I have no idea why, that's just what the IT told me. The way the PC system works it's only Real Player friendly. Does anyone know of a procedure or an application that can do this? I couldn't figure anything out using Compressor...

Well we were able to make the necessary .wmv files using Flip4Mac but still can't figure out how to create Real Player Media files that we need for video on demand. Any suggestions?
