RMAN-06172 error when restoring to a DR system

Hello,
I am not a trained DBA, I only have some basic understandings and what I can figure out from the manuals and googling.
I have a production 10G R2 database, on Red Hat 5, that I backup using Backup Exec 2010.
I perform weekly live Full backups followed by 6 days of incrementals. I also perform a month offline backup once a month.
Archive logs are used.
RMAN setting are at the default.
In getting my Disaster Recover site up and tested I performed a restore of the cold last coldl backup and a live full.
Both where successful except for a minor issue that was fixed with restoring the Archive logs
recently I was testing my procedures again and ran into this error
RMAN-03002
RMAN-06172
I have attempted to research this issue but I am having issues understanding what I need to do?
I have looked into these MetaLink articles 351826.1, 735115.1, 369680.1, 274237.1, 261426.1, 292835.1
I am confused as to why I was able to restore one full live backup but not the next one.
Thank you for any insight you can give.

Here is the RMAN log from one of the restore attempts.
All restores are done as if the production server had been lost and I had only the tapes to restore with.

That error often indicates a hardware failure.Try restoring a few more times. If it consistently gives you that error, make an appointment at the genius bar to have it looked at.

    Hello  Friends,

Errors have been reported in Source System during IDoc update:
    System Response
    Some IDocs have error status.
    Procedure
Check the IDocs in Source System . You do this using the extraction monitor.
    Error handling:
How you resolve the errors depends on the error message you get.
When I checked in TC WE05 says that  IDoc: 0000000000355113 Status: Error during syntax check of IDoc (outbound) with status 26 .
    Please advice .
    Many thanks

    Hi  Krishna4bi,
Actually we will monitor idoc status in BD87 in SAP BI As well ECC , while extracting the data from source sytem  if any idoc struck we will manually process in BD87 , But you are telling that while loading the datasource the error occurred , so please check once in ECC side . Otherwise see how many packets are still process, make it red that infopackage and do manually update.
    Hope it helps,

Can any one please help me to solve this error.
This is am Urgent requirement for me to deliver.
    Thanks & Best Regards,

    Hello VenkaTa,
    How r u ?
The workflow settings are not proper it seems. Ask the BASIS people to correct the Work Flow Settings. Then try Updating the IDOCs manually.
Also check the Inbound and outbound IDOCs in the Source system. The outbound should contain some warnings or errors.

    Hello All,
I have same problem but its RESOLVED by the following process.
    Step - 1
execute  the Function module "SCP_LANGUAGES_IN_INSTANCE".  It may or maynot give some output. Just note if it give the output
    Step - 2
in Transaction SE38 execute the program "RSCPINST".
Just Click on the Activate button (dont select anything).
    Step - 3
Again do the same thing specified in Step - 1.  Now it will give the output saying that Language is DE.
So by the above procedure my issue is been resolved.

  • RMAN error when restoring controlfile from tape

    Hi,
We have a Production database with instance name PROD.
We use Symantec Netbackup software to backup this database to tape library.
We want to test some recovery scenarios on a test server. So we want to restore the production backups from Tape to this test server.
    We did the following:
Cloned the ORACLE Home to the Test Server.
Changed the db_name parameter to PROD and also set ORACLE_SID to PROD.
then we connected to RMAN and ran the following command to restore the control files:
    RMAN> run {

    set controlfile autobackup format for device type 'sbt_type' to '%F';
    set until time "to_date('16/12/2012:10:13:37','dd/mm/yyyy:hh24:mi:ss')";

    SEND 'NB_ORA_SERV=riysvbkp-001,NB_ORA_CLIENT=lh-erp';
    restore controlfile to '/testerp/dbexec/tmp/cf1.ctl' from autobackup;

  • Restore database Error when restoring database to a new server

    Hi folks,
I am oracle 10g on an AIX server (5.3).
I created an rman backup of a database. I then copied it over to a new server where I am trying to restore it (I just created the backup today). However, I am getting the error below.
Essentially, I used an initdb.ora file to create an instance of the database, and mounted it, on the new server. And then I ran a simple "restore database" command, the end of which is displayed below, with a "Restore complete. ..."
I have looked up this error (ora-01152) online and I cannot find a scenario which best provides me with a fix to my problem, about the file not being restored from a sufficiently old backup. Could any one help please?

  • HT201413 Has anyone resolved 1669 error when restoring iphone5 with itunes

Has anyone solved itunes error code 1669
Freezing at half way point during restore
My iPhone 5 is stuck in recovery mode have tried
All the programs to exit and nothing worked

    Hi shawn6274,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
I recommend trying this method if you see an "error 1669" when restoring your iPhone:
    Check for hardware issues
    Related errors: 1, 3, 10-47, 1002, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1000-1020, 1669.
Try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good. Also, confirm your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers. If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.
You can find these steps here:

    All the best,

    so i have a 3gs 6.1.3
i want to restore because my phone is a bit glitchy now
so when i go to itunes and try to update and restore
it says extracting software and after that verifying iphone restore with apple
it sometimes stucks there or gives me a "this iphone could not be restored error  3014
and sometimes "The iphone cannot be restored at this time because iphone software update server could not be contacted or is temporarily unavailable please try again later "
    please help me
    thnx in advance

    Hi SpeedFreak909,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.  This article addresses error 3014 when restoring your iPhone:
Resolve specific iTunes update and restore errors
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694
    Resolve communication issues
Check the hosts file or TCP/IP filtering, which might cause communication issues between iTunes, ports, and servers.
Common errors: 1004, 1013, 1638, 3014, 3194, or 3000-3999. These alerts refer to gs.apple.com, say "There was a problem downloading the software", or say the "device isn't eligible for the requested build".

  • Disk Utility error when restoring a drive to another drive:   Error 6

    "Device not configured."
I have a 24" iMac with a 250gig hard drive, and a firewire enclosure with a 160 gig hard drive. The iMac has a windows partition that I am trying to back up on the firewire drive, so that I can repartition and make the windows section bigger, but I keep getting errors when trying to restore.
If I uncheck erase destination, and then click restore, it starts to copy for a few minutes, but after 2-3 gigs of copying I get another error:
"Restore Failure An error (2) occurred while copying. No such file or directory"
This happens again and again and again and again. Any ideas?

Thanks for the different responses. Just a few more details. My internal hd is only using 63 of 100g.
So I don't think the disk space issue for disk utility would be the answer to my particular problem. I have also tried using superduper to back up this same drive; however, it would not complete the task either. Would it be better to just back up the user folders separately and maybe the applications folder and then just use the mac os dvd's to install on my new drive? ( I don't guess backing up the applications folder would do any good; they would have to all be reinstalled. ) Just trying to find a way to get this done without having to do to much reinstall work. Any other ideas?
