Rman restore archivelogs files only, but in other machine.

Hello,
i need to restore archivelog files in another machine for use with logminer without use my actual +FRA for space reason and withouy use "set destination to"
How i can do it?
thanks and regards

Hello,
in the new machine i have a clone database with a init.ora file that use db_recovery_dest to new path (not +FRA) in a filesystem.
When run a rman script this connect to target(production database) , rman catalog, and auxiliary (my clone database).
I restore a clone controlfile, so mount the clone database, then restore logfile from sequence = xxxx until sequence = XXX , BUT the archivelogfile was restored in target database (production database) inside the +FRA
This is my logfile of rman script.
Regards.

  • RMAN Restore Control File Fails - File Header Validation Fails

    hi everyone,
This is 9i on Windows 2000.
I'm trying to restore a control file from a backup made by RMAN on another server.
I expected Oracle/RMAN to choke because it knows the backup file was not made from this servers database.
RMAN>restore control file from '......' gives ORA-19563 Control File header validation failed
Is there a way to force RMAN to restore a file, in a situation like this?
    Thanks,
    John

    >>I expected Oracle/RMAN to choke because it knows the backup file was not made from this servers database.
What do you mean by this statement ? Do you mean that the servers are on different platforms ? If so first you need to do RMAN platform conversion to able to recognize the controlfile.
If not, Can you make sure of the following
    1) source and target servers are same operating system
    2) source and target database homes have same versions.

  • Muvo Slim download mp3 files only but not playing!

i just bought this Muvo Slim with 256MB memory.. if i plugged it on my computer it can be opened and still can download files.. but once you remove it from the computer, it wont open.. even the opening logo nor the the blue backlight won't open!, it started acting this way right after i plugged it on my friends mp3 (not creative) player.. it has a USB output connector, and 5volts output which is the voltage as a regular USB provides!.. can this still be fixed?.. cause i did tried loading the uograded firmware, and it did recognize the player, but when disconnected to the computer it just went blank!.. need help here! thanks!

On Linux you need proper GStreamer support to play mp3 files with the HTML5 media player.

  • Restoring selected files from a networked Time Machine backup

My wife's laptop logic board failed 2 days ago. It is backed up over our home network to a separate partition on a second hard drive in my MacPro. I'm trying to recover a few specific files from the day the machine failed.
When I try to mount her sparsebundle image, I get a message that the image could not be mounted "Reason -- not recognized".
Disk Utility claims the sparsebundle appears to be okay.
Using "Browse Other Time Machine Disks..." only shows the partition on the backup disk associated with my machine's backups.
    Suggestions?

I have found a way around the issue. My wife's user account on my machine is set up as Sharing Only (just so her Time Machine can write files to the backup drive). So I went to my daughter's machine, turned off her TM, disconnected daughter's machine from mine, and then reconnected from daughter's machine as my wife's username. Then I could mount my wife's sparsebundle on my daughter's machine.

  • How to Restore a file In Yosemite's Time Machine?

Since upgrading to Yosemite, I am having difficulty figuring out how to restore a file using Time Machine.  When I select a file, and click on a recent date, the selected date does Not remain selected, and the "Restore" button is grayed out.  How do I select a date and restore???

Don't try to restore the file; restore the Note. Go in Mail to the mailbox where the note belongs. Enter Time Machine from there and step back until you find the Note.

  • Looping through text files loads all 2014 files correctly, but 2013 files only loads every other row

Hello all. I am once again stumped and would very much appreciate any help.
I have a folder with many text files such as this...
    A 2013-03-31.txt
    A 2013-06-30.txt
    A 2013-09-30.txt
    A 2013-12-31.txt
    A 2014-03-31.txt
    A 2014-06-30.txt
    A 2014-09-30.txt
    B 2013-03-31.txt
    B 2013-06-30.txt
    B 2013-09-30.txt
    B 2013-12-31.txt
    B 2014-03-31.txt
    B 2014-06-30.txt
    B 2014-09-30.txt
    …and so on…
and I'm loading all of the files beginning with A to an existing table in SQL Server. I'm loading the data as is to a staging table, no data type conversions, and I add only two derived columns. I have a loop to accomplish this, and it's working perfectly
except for one detail. All of the files in 2013 load every other row. All of the 2014 files load all rows as intended.
Any idea what would cause this? All files are being loaded using the same loop, same variables, same everything. My enumerator on the for each loop is Foreach File. The DataRowsToSkip property on the flat file connection manager is 0. I'm not sure where
to look next. I need all rows in all files to be loaded.
Forgot to mention that there is a difference between the 2013 and 2014 files. The 2014 files have 8 additional columns. I suspect this is causing my issue, just not sure what to do about it.
Thanks for any help you can provide!
    WeeLass

In SSIS 2012 and above these additional columns would not cause a failure, but looks like lead to you having impartial loads.
I suggest you create two loops, one for one metadata - files from 2014 and another for 2013 ones.

  • Having trouble restoring old files from an external Time Machine back-up to a new internal hard drive...HELP!

O.k. So my main hard drive died on my iMac and I had to replace it. I have my old system backed up on my external with Time Machine. How do I access it to get my old files back on my new hard drive? I have read multiple forums and I have yet to find a solution. I was told that when I first turn the computer on and get to the third screen, it would ask me if I wanted to restore from a previous back-up. It did but it didn't show my external until I went through the set-up and got to my home screen. The drive showed then. It also asked to install updates...and I did. So everything is up to date. I have not turned time machine on yet because I'm affraid that if I do, it will erase my old back-up on my external. I tried using the Migration Assistant in Utilities and all I get is the spinning wheel when I tried to get that to work. So now I am here asking for help. I'm not very hopeful that I'm going to be able to get all of my old files back...  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for the video link. I did it pretty much exactly the way the young man explained. The one thing I didn't do was click "customize" as he does and unclick the multiple language support and he also clicks "rosetta" to support older programs. I wonder if that's the issue? The guys at Macmall told me that I would need to update the o.s. before I restored. I did that originally but have since (as mentioned before) erased the main drive. I noticed that when he does his install, his external drive does not show up on the list in which you want to install the o.s. on... should I unplug my external? I'm just trying to look at ever detail. I know the recovery file is there. The one thing it (the external) did say before I started posting here was "in progress". I'm not sure what that means? I promise I'm not an idiot. I consider myself an above average user. I usually help other that have issues... but I've yet to restore from a Time Machine back-up and I'm looking forward to learning how to do it.... the right way. I appreciate all of the advice. I have some pretty important files on my external back-up. I am really hoping that this is possible. I'm beginning to think the external is where the issue lies. The "in progress" next to the file name concerns me. I know there's a lot of data on the drive because it's nearly half full. So there's stuff there....
    Deep breath in...... reeee laaaaaaaxxxx

  • I have XP on one machine and 7 on the other. Firefox 8 works perfectly on XP but my other machine is a disaster. I can not access the add ons at all and everything is gone: too many tabs-roboform whatever?????????????????

It seems that the upgrade has destroyed the entire firefox experience. What is also strange is that the desktop image is coming through the top of the Firefox page.

Jon already touched on this, but to use your "new" network, without NAT, the subnet needs to be "known".
With NAT, you can place multiple hosts behind one (or several) IPs on your existing subnet.  I.e. you new subnet doesn't need to be known.  (In fact, you could use any subnet you want.)
The reason the Linksys worked well yet the 2600 did not, "Enterprise" class routers generally don't handle PAT as well many consumer class routers.  (NB: True NAT would probably work just fine, but what you need is to overload an IP, i.e. PAT).  So, many applications won't work.  (NB: I believe newer IOS versions do better, though.)
Many small Cisco Enterprise class routers, especially those from two generatations ago, were designed for "slow" WAN links, like single T1s or partial T1s, or perhaps for a few Mbps DSL.  If your link has more bandwidth the router may not have the performance to support it effectively.

I am crystal clear from the very begining ,you are misleading this thread to increase yours post and nothing else.
OP is restoring only archive logs and for that it need all archive logs including the archive for the current redo log file. So for that we need "alter system archive log current;".
Yours this illusion is abrupt and without any proof. As you think that before backing up "alter system archivelog current" will be helpful in restoring all the OP's below archived log.Its a fun...

  • Time Machine - Restoring Files only to a fresh install of OSX

    Hi folks,
had my 17' MBP for about a year now and love it, although in the last couple of month it's become frightening slow, jerk video playback and what not.
So I'd like to Format the Mac and re-install Snow Leopard to get full performance back, I have a Time Machine but don't want to do a system restore as I won't get any benefits of renewed performance etc, I'd just like it to restore my non-system files and possibly iTunes to avoid any iPhone/iPod/iPad syncing issues.
Is there any way of restoring just files only without having to manually pick them out of the Time Machine once I've formatted/re-installed Snow Leopard?
    Thanks!

    mlamb64150 wrote:
can you use that technique for iTunes as well?
no. you would restore iTunes using the finder.
you should restore the entire iTunes folder (not just the iTunes music folder).

  • Rman restoration - Cannot identify file

    Hi,
I am doing a RMAN restoration in linux server named I have a full backup plus next two days incremental backup to restore database till time.
I have created a instance started it wilth a pfile and restored the control file with below option
    RMAN> restore control file from C:\backups\control_123.ctl';
The control file is succesfully restored...
    RMAN > Alter database mount;
    Database Mounted.
when i tried to restore the USERS tablespace i am getting the below error that file cannot be identified.
ORA-19870: error reading backup piece C:\Rman_files\hth_data_full_6304_1_770178761.bkp
ORA-19505: failed to identify file "C:\Rman_files\hth_data_full_6304_1_770178761.bkp
ORA-27037: unable to obtain file status
My question is it mandatory to move the rman and archive log backup files to the path that is specified in the backup control file, can we copy the RMAN files to some other location instead of default control file location and restore from there ?
    Thanks

can we copy the RMAN files to some other location instead of default control file location and restore from there ? Catalog the backup before restoring the tablespace
or just put the backup in the default location as in your case it is in folder "C:\Rman_files\"

I have tried multiple laptops with both units, re-installed Itunes, same error message on one of the units but ok on the other. Thinking I have a defective Ipad 2, any ideas on what to do is greatly appreciated.

You deleted your archived redo logs in 3rd stepNO, After 1st step i deleted /moved archivelog , thats why @ 3rd step its giving error that Oracle Cant Find Archivelog to delete ( i guess it dsnt matter )
NOW, as i have a backup of archivelog in backupset , how do i restore archivelogs from there??Following should help you in restoration of archive redo logs. Simplest way is to use "restore archivelog all" to restore all archived redo logs from your backups which are available.

  • Restore archivelogs

    Hi all,
I'm working on a 10.2.0 version. I need to restore my last archivelog backup.
Exist any way to restore all available archives?
    Regards,
    dbajug

    Hi Belman,
    crosscheck archivelog all ;
Double job : the restore will do that implicitly.
    Quick scenario (10.2.0.5 , Suse 11 x86) :
    RMAN>  restore archivelog  from time 'sysdate - 1/24';
    Démarrage de restore dans 20/09/10
    utilisation du canal ORA_DISK_1
journal d'archivage, thread 1 séquence 76 déjà sur disque en tant que fichier /u02/save/P102/archivelog/P102_1_76_729703138.arc
restauration non exécutée; fichiers de consultation seule, hors ligne ou déjà restaurés
    Fin de restore dans 20/09/10
    oracle@dellsp:/tmp> mv /u02/save/P102/archivelog/P102_1_76_729703138.arc /u02/save/P102/archivelog/P102_1_76_729703138.arc.old
    RMAN> restore archivelog  from time 'sysdate - 1/24';
