RMAN Restore is asking for 3 days tapes in place of 1 day tape

Hi All,
I'm doing oracle disaster recovery through RMAN and VERITAS on Solaris machine. Version detail is as follows:
Oracle: 8i (8.1.7.4)
Veritas: 5.1
Solaris: 8 (5.8)
Script to restore and recover database
run {
allocate channel c1 type 'sbt_tape';
restore database;
recover database;
Daily we are doing full RMAN backup (Level 0). I've restored the catalogs of veritas upto 16th Jan. Catalog Database (RMAN) is upto latest (16th). While restoring, its asking for 3 days tapes (12 Jan,13 Jan,14 Jan). Why it is asking for 3 days tapes and why not it asking only latest tapes that is of 15 th Jan. How can it possible for me to restrict it only one day and that is of choice means if I want to restore/recover until 13 then I should provide tape of 13th Jan only and If I want to recover upto 15th then I should provide tapes of 15th Jan only.
Regards
Rakesh

What do you mean by doing disaster recovery through net vertias ? what made this situtation to accour at your end ? And what are the techniques you are using to accomplish disaster recovery , by seeing your commands i believe it is just a simple restore and recovery .one more thing i like to ask is What do you mean by saying the you restored the catalog to 16th of jan ?

  • While restoring iphone asking for a password

    while restoring iphone asking for a password, i didnt even put any password, any guess??

    Are you trying to restore from a backup that is encrypted? Or is it the lockscreen?
    If it is the lockscreen password, connect in recovery mode to restore:iOS: Unable to update or restore and  iPhone and iPod touch: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen you will have the option to reset the password.
    If this is the password for the backup and you don't know it, you'll have to start all over again by setting it up as new device: How to back up your data and set up as a new device and you will lose all data and settings on the phone.

  • HT4436 Since installing Ios7 280 music tunes out of a total of 360 will now only play when I'm within range of WiFi. How can I get them back on my Iphone 4s and scrap this stupid icloud that I did not want or ask for in the first place.

    Since installing Ios7   280 music tunes out of a total of 360 will now only play when I'm within range of WiFi. The remainder now appear with the stupid Icloud logo beside them. How can I get them back on my Iphone 4s and scrap this stupid icloud that I did not want or ask for in the first place. Why can't rotten apple ask if you want the dam icloud rather than just stealing everything without permission and then you can only have access to it through wifi.

    Wow, just posting and it seems that there is a solution that is working for me...
    What I've did is I turned off iTunes Match on my iPhone, then turned in on again. Now in my iTunes library on my mac I can get the duplicates to be matched or uploaded to iCloud with a right-click, add to iCloud. iTunes Match starts to check the songs and everything is done correctly. Pretty nice!

  • Time Machine / Time Capsule restore keeps asking for password.

    I have just tried to do a restore from my time capsule, but all i get is "please enter the password" i enter it and it just closes the diolog box and does nothing.
    It's the right password as you can see on this video when i try to enter the password incorrectly the window just shakes, I am using lion and Time Machine as only ever backed up this computer when it's had lion installed - so no previous snow leopard back-ups are in there. Is this a known bug? is anybody else having this problem? or does anyone know how to fix it?
    check out this video if you want, It shows what's going on a little better. (sorry for the unsteady hand, i was typing as well)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N2h30fyoPdw

    Ok. I got it to work, sort of....
    As I mentioned before I tried the "disk password" and the "Time capsule Password" options to see if I can start the back up again or start a new backup. Neither worked. So I tried the firmware down grade, but like you said that did not work. I then decided to try the "Account password" option and I have never used this option before becasue it states that if there is data on the drive it would not be acessable after creating an account. Since I wiped out the disk that was nno problem. When I created the new account and choose the drive it asked for the user name and password. I entered the info for the new account I just created(FYI this has nothing to do with your login username and password), bingo! It worked!
    Now I have two partitions on the TC disk. The old one and now the new account. I am guessing this is to be used if I have multiple computers, which I don't.
    I any case, I am going to wipe out everything again and try again to do a backup the way I had it before.

  • Unable to restore iphone, asking for password which it does not accept

    Hi,
    I am trying to restore my iphone.  I get so far when its asks for a password but it will not accept it.
    how can I restore my iphone without a password?  I have lost all photos, contacts, apps and messages.
    thank you

    Hi, teenab77
    Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
    It sounds like you are attempting to restore your iPhone from an encrypted backup and it is requesting a password.  Here is a troubleshooting article that I would go through for this issue.

  • Restore keeps asking for my wife's previous, 5 year old, no longer remembered, Apple ID password. What can I do?

    Gen 3 iPad went into "Recovery" mode while updating to 8.0.2. requiring a "Restore."  iPad is now in it's 17th hour of trying to restore and recover all data backed up in cloud and on MacBook Pro.  Odd think - I keep being asked for a password my wife had on her first iPad, one associated with an email provider with haven't used in over 5 years.  We have no recollection of that old password.  What can I do?

    First, the iPad should not take 17 hours to restore. Perhaps if your wifi was extremely slow, but if you're restoring from a backup made to the computer, it should take no more than 20 minutes or so. I would be inclined to start again - connect to iTunes, click Restore within iTunes, and go from there.
    The only time an AppleID would get in the way of restoring is if it was used to set the Find My iPad feature. If this is the case, you're going to have to recover access to the AppleID. Start here:

    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
     Cheers, Tom

  • When updating to IOS5 restore did not complete and now it is asking for a password to carry on restoring back up and I can't remember password! Would appreciate any help?

    Whilst updating to IOS5 on my iphone 4 it was interrupted whilst restoring the contents of my iphone!!!  Now when I try and restore it asks for a password to unlock my iphone backups - I have tried several but it states password is incorrect and accordingly I cannot restore backups and have lost loads of important information!!
    I would really appreciate your suggestions on what to do.
    Many thanks

    Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased. Some glitch occured and you have to restore/erse the iPod. Y will have to restore from an existing backup if y ohave one.

    If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

    All the time it does this, and it's searching for service the whole time and all of a sudden the Apple logo appears and wants to be activated and I've activated it lots of times, but keeps on coming. Is is because i'm running iOS 8.0.2?!! Sick of this, HELP!!!

  • 6280 keeps asking for a code

    I have a 6280 on O2, it has started to ask for a code, it started asking for it only when it was first turned on, now its asking for it a couple of time a day. no nokia codes work, O2 said remove battery and sim whilst the phones on! that clears it until the next time.
    Any ideas how to stop it?
    Thanks
    Mark.

    You need to find out what code it is asking you for - is it a PUK code or a lock code ?
    Can you make calls ? If not it'll be a PUK code probably.
    One thing you can try doing is resetting your phone, although this may delete some data from your phone.
    Please see page 75 of 120 of the manual here :
    http://nds1.nokia.com/phones/files/guides/Nokia_6280_UG_en.pdf
    for instructions on how to do so.
    If it's a lock code then you will need to approach your network operator for further assistance - the default is usually 12345.

  • Outlook 2013 asks for credentials connecting to Exchange 2010 multiple times

    I'm having a problem with Outlook 2013 asking for my credentials a few times a day for no apparent reason. Some info on my setup...
    CLIENT
    Windows 7 Professional SP1 64 bit, fully patched
    Office 2013 Pro Plus 32 bit, fully patched (has there even been any patches released yet?)
    Outlook auto-configured to Exchange during setup.
    Online Archive setup with server
    Connected via gigabit ethernet on same network and domain as Exchange server.
    SERVER
    Exchange 2010 SP2, fully patched.
    One server, holds all roles.
    I have zero clue as to why I'm getting popped for credentials. This did not happen prior to my upgrade to Office 2013. I was previously using Office 2007 Pro Plus.
    My credentials are always accepted, never a problem putting them in.
    Thanks in advance!

    I have been testing and testing also for days, then waiting for any responses to other people's questions on other places as well.
    After some time started my own tries again.
    Now I fixed my issue - don't fully comprehend it. But anyway here comes the solution that worked for me (and hopefully for more of y'all)...
    Go to the Exchange account from within Outlook, click special settings, tab connection. Open up the button proxy settings, UNtick options 3 and 4 (connections with HTTP/then TCP/IP). Make sure to UNtick both.
    Press OK, Hit Save and OK again. Press NEXT and close the screens.
    Logout from Outlook. LOG OFF your RDP session if you're in one. Restart the RDP session after some 15 seconds. Or start Outlook if you were only in Outlook.
    My issue was then solved.
