Rman with commvault mml: database crash while delete obsolete

Hello!
I have a problem concerning RMAN, delete obsolete and CommVault media management library: Every night at 23:00 we run a RMAN "Backup" to delete the obsolete backup files from tape. Since the update to CommVault agent 8 (from version 7) the database crashes while the delete obsolete command. The normal backup (incremental 0/1) works without problem.
After restarting the database i tried the delete obsolete via shell -> same result: CRASH.
The CommVault support says that there is an Oracle bug with different MML's, that causes this behaviour - but i can't find anything at Metalink.
This is the output of RMAN (tell me which other logs can be helpful):
RMAN-Sperr-Policy wird f³r den Befehl angewendet

Hi,
show parameter plsq
plsql_code_type           string     INTERPRETED
plsql_compiler_flags          string     INTERPRETED, NON_DEBUG
That database is in interpreted mode.
Check also the pacakages:
select OWNER, OBJECT_NAME , PARAM_NAME ||'='||PARAM_VALUE param from DBA_STORED_SETTINGS where OBJECT_NAME in ( 'DBMS_RCVCAT','DBMS_RCVMAN' )and param_name = 'plsql_code_type'
OWNER               OBJECT_NAME
PARAM
SYS               DBMS_RCVMAN plsql_code_type=INTERPRETED
SYS               DBMS_RCVMAN plsql_code_type=INTERPRETED
If it is native you have an issue!

  • Iphoto 8.1.2 crashed while deleting  photos (7,000) from my iphone and the photos disappeared from iphone and iphoto

    First i imported my photos to iphoto 8.1.2 when it finished, asked me if i want to "delete them from the camara"  i clicked yes and crashed while deleting  photos (7,000) from my iphone and the photos disappeared from iphone and iphoto

    No early version of iPhoto can open a Library from a later version.
    You can try revert the Library with iPhoto Library Manager

  • Rescue and Recovery Crashes While Deleting Backup Files

    I've seen many threads in regards to Rescue and Recovery crashing while deleting backup files, but no solutions were ever mentioned!  I have a T400 (Vista SP2, Intel T9400, 4GB RAM, 300 GB HD) and was quickly running out of disk space.  After finding mention of Rescue and Recovery I was able to delete some of the backups but not all.  For example I have one from 2008 (18GB) but it won't seem to delete.  I let it sit for quite a while (over night) but it still didn't delete.  Does anybody have a solution for how to get R&R to delete this files?  Or how to delete these files manually?  Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    in this situation I assume, you are using the GUI for the deletiong of the RnR Backups.
    What I always prefer is the rrcmd.exe which you can use with the "delete" whicht so that the backups that you want to will be deleted.
    Cheers

  • Crash while deleting photos results in inconsistent database

    Hi,
    I deleted about 200 photos while regularly emptying the trash bin. Suddenly iPhoto closed itself. After restarting iPhoto (Version 6) all the previously deleted photos appear in the photo archive thumbnail preview as empty frames. The "real" photos are already deleted, but the database seems still to have all the meta information. Clicking on such a thumbnail results in the rotating mouse cursor and the application status goes to "not responding". After about a minute, the frame is marked. Moving it to the trash bin again takes a very long time. Scrolling through films containing these deleted photos takes a lot of time. Scrolling through films without those empty frames is normal.
    I already tried the repair mode and created everything again - without success.
    Does anybody know, how to get the database consistent again?
    Thanks in advance,
    Erik

    Erik
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
    Try rebuilding the database. Hold down the apple and option (or alt) keys and launch iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose the top three options.
    If that fails you likely have a corrupted database:
    You'll need to create and populate a new library.
    To create and populate a new library:
    Note this will give you a working library with the same film rolls and pictures as before, however, you will lose your albums, keywords, books, calendars etc.
    Move the iPhoto Library Folder to the desktop
    Launch iPhoto. It will ask if you wish to create a new Library. Say Yes.
    Go into the iPhoto Library Folder on your desktop and find the Originals folder. From the Originals folder drag the individual rolls to the iPhoto Window and it will recreate them in the new library.
    When you're sure all is well you can delete the iPhoto Library Folder on your desktop.
    In the future, in addition to your usual back up routine, you might like to make a copy of the library6.iPhoto file whenever you have made changes to the library as protection against database corruption.
    Regards
    TD

  • Mail crashing while deleting messages

    I've been having a problem over the past few weeks that's driving me crazy. When I check mail after an interval of more then a few hours, I usually have a few dozen or more messages, mostly spam. So, I merrily go about deleting them as I scan for real messages.
    The problem is, Mail crashes on me relatively often while doing this. This behavior started a few weeks ago. If I have a few hundred messages (first thing in the morning), it will sometimes crash two or three times before I finish.
    I have one mail account (on an IMAP server, which I cache locally), and I've been using OSX Mail to read mail on this account since MacOSX 10.0 beta! This is the first time I've had such a problem.
    I've tried deleting all local information (deleting ~/Library/Mail) and recreating the account and recaching everything, to no avail. (I have gigabytes of mail, so this was annoying, and the crashing continued before I'd even cached much).
    I've also noticed that, over the past while (longer than the crashes, perhaps on the range of 3 or 4 months), that mail has become unbearably slow downloading messages; I can watch the counter increase, with it taking more than a second per message to download.

    Ok, here's the crash report. I suppose I should have just included it up front, but I first wanted to see if anyone else had experienced (and fixed) this problem.
    The reports are always similar; crashing in a msg_send inside the objective c library.

  • MacBook Pro crashed while deleting old backups off partitioned external hard drive. Now only recognizes windows formatted half of drive. Can the Apple side be saved?

    MacBook Pro 15-inch, Mid 2010
    Processor  2.66 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory  8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3
    Graphics  NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 512 MB
    Software  OS X 10.9.5 (13F34)
    I have an external hard drive:
    2 TB Seagate Backup+Desk Media
    Partitioned:
    1TB - Windows NTFS
    1TB - Mac (sorry I can't remember the formatting, whatever Mavricks asked me to use...)
    What happened:
    I was erasing 3 old backups from the Apple partition and my laptop crashed part way through emptying the trash. (it has done this many times before, where parts of the screen are frozen in square blocks displaced all over the screen. Screenshot not possible unless I use a separate camera).
    When I force restarted my computer (holding down the power button) neither side of the drive was accessible. After running the Disk Utility and Verifying and Repairing the Disk Permissions and the Disk Itself (for the Windows side) I was able to access the Windows partition. However, upon attempting to do so with the Mac partition it tells me that it cannot be repaired. I have found many forums discussing SIMILAR situations but none with the same and here is why:
    Up until this happening I could access ONLY the Windows partition when the drive was connected to either my Apple laptop in Bootcamp Windows 7 or my HP laptop in Vista, while my MacBook could access both sides of the drive. HOWEVER, after this crash, BOTH my Windows 7 and Vista can access both sides of the drive (so My files are still all there and accessible) but my MacBook Pro swears that the Apple partition is doomed.
    Since the Apple side of my laptop is my primary workhorse I really want to figure out how to fix my drive.
    So Questions:
    1. Anything else I can provide to the experts out there to help me get this fixed?
    2. Can I custom fix this via accessing the drive on either of the Windows systems?
    3. Why would it suddenly show up in Windows when it became unaccessible to Mac?
    Thanks All!

    UPDATE:
    It has been maybe a month since this happened.
    After I made this post and was checking emails, walking away from computer, and then came back my Mac partition of the External Drive has shown up on the Desktop...
    So, in the ever immortal way of asking the tech to come check the issue and the issue resolving itself, perhaps I should posted on the forum sooner...
    NOTE: The disk still shows up as unusable in the Disk Utility and it appears that the files are read only (cannot make a new folder on this side of the external drive)
    I still consider this a volatile issue because I do not want to lose the files on this half of the partition and I have not gotten a replacement drive yet (too much data to move to my computer and then format the current drive)

  • Safari crashing while deleting emails one at a time

    Once again I am having trouble with deleting unwanted emails. Recently, one of the Apple updates changed the home page that I see my Mobile Me mail on. I can no longe click on "select all" and then delete them all in one quick shot. Now, I must delete them one at a time... which sometimes causes Safari to crash! The last time I posted this problem, I got a lot of snide comments that mobile me has never changed the mail page. I beg to differ. Before the last round of Safari updates, There was a box for "actions" when clicked it offered choices.... including, "select all." Well, that choice has been deleted. Any one know what I am talking about?
    I am using the Safari forum, because the trouble started with Safari's latest round of updates, which effected mobile me's mail page, that I can only access through Safari. If I am mistaken, perhaps someone can direct me elsewhere.

    Hi
    You can now use the same keys as you would for mail (or files) on your Mac - click on the first and shift-click on the last, or click on one message and click cmd-A to select all. Then use your keyboard delete key to delete them.

  • Clone of auxillary database using rman with the source database unavailable

    Hi,
    Is it possible to clone a database with just the source database's backup pieces. The source database is currently unavailable. The source database backup was taken through rman - nocatalog mode. We have been provided the backup pieces. Any clues on how to go about it?

  • Photo recovery when iPhoto crashed while deleting imported images

    I was importing images into iPhoto when it finished and asked if I wanted to delete originals or not. I chose to delete originals. As it was finishing the import/deleting the images, iPhoto crashed. I could see the images right before the crash. Upon rebooting iPhoto, the images were gone from my card and not showing up under last import. Where can I find them??? Thanks!

    Greetings,
    Sorry to hear about the lost pictures.
    My guess would be that there was something wrong with the import process (bad data / corrupt media card in camera, low battery power during import, bad connection with camera, etc.)
    Try finding the images on the computer using the File > Find in the Finder as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1995 (maybe they just got misplaced / not fully imported into iPhoto).
    Use the picture in that article as an example.  Rather than having "Kind" "Any".  Choose "Kind" "Image".  This will locate any picture at all on your computer.  You can then copy and paste the images (if you can find them) into a new folder and then import that folder into iPhoto.
    If you haven't used the camera since you deleted the pictures there is a good chance you can recover them from the camera using data recovery software.
    Here are a few examples:
    http://joesoft.com/products/klix.php
    http://www.prosofteng.com/products/data_rescue.php
    http://www.macintosh-data-recovery.com/
    http://www.subrosasoft.com/OSXSoftware/index.php?main_page=product_info&products _id=1
    You can contact a local Apple Authorized Provider to see if they offer data recovery services: http://www.apple.com/buy/locator/service/
    There are many nationwide / worldwide data recovery companies out there.  Here are a few examples:
    http://www.ontrackdatarecovery.com
    http://www.drivesaversdatarecovery.com/
    http://www.totalrecall.com/
    Consider using these best practice tips to avoid or minimize the impact of issues in the future:
    Do not delete the images off your camera until you have imported your images to the image management program of your choice (like iPhoto), and then backed up your images (like with TimeMachine)
    Reformat the camera's media card using the camera itself between uses (check your camera's manual for how to do this).
    Ensure your camera has a full charge on the battery before you import (Or run off of AC if possible).
    Ensure the date and time on the camera are correct before importing.
    If you are using a media card reader and are getting regular failures, try using a different reader or the camera itself (The same is true about importing directly from the camera. Try a reader instead.)
    Plug the camera directly into the computer with a solid connection, no loose cables.  Don't use a hub.
    Alternate between multiple media cards during photo shoots (trips, etc) so that if one card goes bad (they are just little bits of plastic after all) you don't lose the entire shoot.
    Best of luck to you.

  • Why 10g Database Crashed while changing CPUs ???

    Hi All,

    Issue - Today we just pulled out 1 CPU board containing 4 cpus (total we have 2 board conatining 4 cpus each) and suddenly the system crashed. My question is why it's crashed when it has still 4 cpus????

    Is it the expected behaviour in 10g or it's some kind of bug???
    Will appreciate your suggestions and comments....

    Will appreciate your suggestions and comments....you've hit an unexpected os dependent error (i.e error in the os specific support code) triggered by the cpu removal. it looks like the big lesson is that cpus are not so hot swappable in multi-processor systems as one might imagine. As a mental exercise consider whether you expect the sudden removal/death of the cpu on which smon or pmon is running to result in an operational system.

  • Indesign CS3 crash while generating an PDF or deleting an index entry

    Indesign crashes when I will starting the PDF export. This happens in all Indesign documents which are converted from CS2 and with index entries. So I want to delete the index but Indesign crashes while deleting too. I tried to convert the files in .indx files but nothing changes. Indesign is still crashing.
    Indesign 5.0.2
    Mac OS X 10.5.3
    MacPro Identifier 3,1
    RAM: 4GB

    Hi. Im having the same problems and tried everything. Indesign crashes not just on Exporting, but also Import and Save As. It mostly works with no problem for days and then all the sudden crashes and cant fix it, then in about an hour starts working again, with the exact same document. It seems to me like the software cant find the path it created with the document. For example, if I press just SAVE, its saves with no problem, but when I choose SAVE AS, Indesign crashes after opening the communication window.
    I still have PowerBook, not MacBook Pro, and OS X 10.5.3, so I figured my computer cant handle the new system and CS3. Although Im not having any problems with Photoshop nor other CS3 software, just indesign.
    I would really appreciate some advice or response.

  • Delete obsolete causing issue with archivelog backups......or is it?

    Hi, hoping someone will have the answer for me.
    Oracle 10g R2 on Windows 2003 R2 Sever.
    The start of my RMAN script runs, i do crosschecks and delete obsolete backups from type disk. My redundancy is set to 1. I then run compressed backups of the datafiles and archivelogs with 2 channels. This leaves me with two days of full backups on disk (i have months worth on netbackup) the only problem is that one of the archivelog channel backups from the previous day is missing when i know it was there before the delete obsolete was run.
    here is the script:
    run{
    CROSSCHECK BACKUP;
    CROSSCHECK archivelog all;
    CROSSCHECK COPY;
    CROSSCHECK backup of database;
    CROSSCHECK backup of controlfile;
    delete noprompt obsolete device type disk;
    run {
    allocate channel ch1 type disk format 'Z:\backup\rman\orcl\%d_%T_%U';
    allocate channel ch2 type disk format 'Z:\backup\rman\orcl\%d_%T_%U';
    backup as COMPRESSED BACKUPSET
         format='Z:\backup\rman\orcl\full_%d_%T_%U'
         tag='full_DBbackup_ris'
         database;
    backup as COMPRESSED BACKUPSET
         format='Z:\backup\rman\orcl\arch_%d_%T_%U'
         tag='full_ARCHbackup_ris'
    archivelog all not backed up delete all input;
    sql "alter database backup controlfile to trace as ''Z:\backup\rman\orcl\controlfile_backup_trace.txt''";
    release channel ch1;
    release channel ch2;
    This is my (simplified) list of backups on disk:
    Full_day1_chan1
    Full_day1_chan2
    Arc_day1_chan1
    Arc_day1_chan2
    Full_day2_chan1
    Full_day2_chan2
    Arc_day2_chan1
    It looks like channel2, days2, archivelog backup is missing. Is this correct? If not does anyone have an idea how to fix this?
    thanks in advance.
    Steven.

    Hi Steven,
    The data backed up by rman is written to backup pieces.
    Are you missing pieces containing archive logs?
    Could it be there was only 1 arc file available so the second channel could not create any backup piece?
    Did you could check the output of the backup in v$rman_output?
    Regards,
    Tycho

    Help, I have been having problems with elements 8 organizer crashing while reviewing photos one at a time. It will go for a while, then get a grash message, and the program closes. I'm using windows 7. I tried looking up one of john ellis's (sp) links, but it was a broken link.

      Are you running any background tasks such as Auto-Analysis or face recognition.
    If so; it’s worthwhile turning them off temporarily by going to Edit >>Preference from the Organizer menu.

  • RMAN duplicate from ACTIVE DATABASE

    Hi,
    I am trying to create a new 11.2.0.1 database by duplicating an existing 11.2.0.1 database using Rman with 'from active database' option.
    I have created a password file and listener is configured as well.
    The aux database is started in nomount state.
    rman
    connect target sys/pwd123@SRCDB
    connect auxiliary sys/pwd123@AUXDB
    duplicate target database to AUXDB
    FROM ACTIVE DATABASE;
    This fails saying that "ORA-12528: TNS:listener: all appropriate instances are blocking new connections" which is quite normal given that the listener is havig a handle in BLOCKED state for this AUXDB as it is in NOMOUNT state.
    Could you please help me on how to proceed?
    One option can be to create the controlfile manually and mount the instance before doing the duplicate. I hope Rman can continue from there.
    Another option is to go for backup based duplicate.
    Is there any other way to go?

    Provide static registration on AUXILIARY side for your auxiliary instance and try again.For example change listener.ora file as
    SID_LIST_LISTENER =
      (SID_LIST =
        (SID_DESC =
          (GLOBAL_DBNAME = AUXDB)
          (ORACLE_HOME = <your oracle home>)
          (SID_NAME = AUXDB)
    LISTENER =
      (DESCRIPTION =
        (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = <auxiliary host/ip>)(PORT = 1521))
      )And restart listener on auxiliary host then try again
