RMI class not compilimg
Hello , i am trying to run a simple RMI example , however my implementation class for the interface is not compiling .
eg
I have an interface Calculator
i compiled the java file , so i have a class Calculator
now i made a server side implementation for Calculator which is CalculatorImpl.java which extends java.rmi.server.UniCastRemoteObject implements Calculator
however when i compile this class it gives me the error
cannot find the symbol Calculator . Both the files are in the same directory also the Calculator.class is also in the same directory . Why is my server implementation class not compiling ?
Still error being displayed is Cannot find Calculator.That's because you haven't changed anything.
You also haven't answered my question.
Try it.

Java.rmi.UnmarshalException: skeleton class not found but required for clie
Hello everyone,
I am new to RMI and getting a strange exception. I am using Java 1.5.0_07 both on client and server. They are running on the same machine, the rmi registry is started inside the server application.
I am wondering why java complains about skeletons, I thought they are automatically created when using java 5.0?
Please have a look at the stacktrace below.
Thank you for your help.
Best Regards
Patric

Class javax.rmi.PortableRemoteObject not found in import
I have successfully tested test1.jsp calling stateful ejb test1ejb under JDEV9032. On deploying to standalone OC4J903, the following error occurred on accessing the jsp:

Appreciate some pointers on how to troubleshoot this problem. Thanks. William Chew.This error is due to the c:\windows\system32\java.exe being first on the path instead of the d:\jdev9i\jdk\bin\java.exe being picked up.

Interesting Class Not Found Exception on Client Side of RMI
I am having trouble getting my client to start up using RMI. I am running my server on a linux platform and everything seems to be starting up just fine. Here is how I start the server:
WEBSITE=/home/ian/html
SOFTWARE=/home/ian/software
java -ea \
-cp $WEBSITE/BNS/classes/ \
-Djava.rmi.server.codebase=http://1.paturi.usher.ucsdsys.net/BNS/classes/ \
-Djava.security.policy=/home/ian/software/BNS/RMI.policy \
-DPREP=$SOFTWARE/prepped \
-DARCH=$SOFTWARE/output \
BNS.plumbing.Server $WEBSITE is my Apache Server home folder, which is running. However, now I move to a Windows machine and run IE or Firefox. I navigate to the Apache server and it comes up. Yet, when I try to logon to a client it tells me that the client is not inited.
Opening the Java Console reveals this error:

BNS.plumbing.Client is not a Stub method. I have a ClientLiason class which provides the stub and it does not seem to have problem there. Also, when I simply navigate to [http://1.paturi.usher.ucsdsys.net/BNS/classes/BNS/plumbing/] the Client.class file is clearly there waiting to be used.
Here is what I run when starting server side to get the RMIRegistry (which has been started without a problem):
SessionHost sh = new SessionHost();
System.err.println("created an instance of "+ sh.getClass()+" as server");
Registry reg= LocateRegistry.getRegistry();
System.out.println(reg);
reg.rebind(Constants.serviceName, sh);
System.out.println(reg);
System.err.println(Constants.serviceName+" server ready.");I have played around with the Registry reg=LocateRegistry.getRegistry() line in particular. I have tried passing in "localhost" and "1.paturi.usher.ucsdsys.net" but all to no avail. Then latter is linux machine that I am using. It is a cluster server at UCSD. In order to access it I must first ssh into a UCSD machine and from there ssh into my machine (this is because it is not a full-fledged ip address, but part of UCSD's domain). I think this might have something to do with the trouble I have accessing the class file when I tried to get at them through a browser directed to my Apache Server.
I am not the greatest network guy, I know a lot more about programming and I am at my wits end here. I have searched everything I can think of, with little success. If anybody has any ideas or can even point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
IanI think your codebase annotation is being lost because Client.class is on the CLASSPATH of the Registry. There are two solutions:
1. Start the rmiregistry command in a directory other than the root of the package structure, e.g. /.
2. Use LocateRegistry.createRegistry() instead of getRegistry() in the server, and don't start the rmiregistry command at all. -
RMI stub class not found exception
Configuration:
OC4J Release 2
Windows 2000
* I get a stub class not found exception when the RMI server is instantiated.
* I compiled the implementation class using rmic and created a jar file containing the stub and skeleton classes. The jar file has been included in both the WEB-INF/lib and the <OC4J-home>/j2ee/home/lib directories.
* "TestServer" class (given below) is instantiated in a servlet init() method (the exception is thrown here).
* Following are file listings (with code):
Remote Interface ---> Test.java
Implementation class ---> TestImpl.java
TestServer.java
Test obj = new TestImpl();
Context ctx = new InitialContext();
ctx.rebind("TestService", obj);
Any help is appreciated.
- RangaFound the solution. Thanx.

I am facing a problem when i am going to generate Stub and Skeleton using rmic command, but it gives the error that
Error: "class not found"
Please help me.its urgent.Run rmic -depend to ensure that any classes referenced by the server classes are also compiled. Also, run rmic from inside the directory of your project beside the root of your package.
ie:
Work directory: work/
Classes are in: work/com/yourdomain/rmistuff/CoolServer.java
Then cd into directory work/ and run:
rmic -depend -verbose com.yourdomain.rmistuff.CoolServer
Try this and see what happens. -
Class Not Found in Server Application
I have set up a basic server application. It contains three files namely
Arith.java (implements the Remote interface)
ArithImpl.java (implements Arith.java the server) and
ArithApp.java which is the client Application
All of these are in the same package. I have compiled all of these files and I execute the rmic ArithImpl command from within the ArithImpl.java file via Runtime.getRuntime.exec(...);
The stub and skeleton files are generated and still I get a class not found exception. I have checked the class path and these files are within the class path.
If anyone could help me I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks

All,
I am quite new to RMI programming, although i am an experienced java programmer. I am facing a problem in starting the remote server program which i wrote for RMI. I am getting class not found exception for "stub" class eventhough the class is in the classpath.

Following are my classes:

// Bind this object instance to the name "HelloServer".

System.out.println("Names are "+remObj.getNames());
catch(Exception e) {
System.out.println("Problem encountered accessing remote object "+e);
}That's a remote exception coming from the registry. You need to learn to recognize remote exceptions and their source, it's a mjaor source of confusion in RMI.
In this case it's the registry that can't find the stub class.
The stub class needs to be in the CLASSPATH of (i) the Registry and (ii) the client as well. Ditto the remote interface; ditto any application classes it refers to, and so on until closure.
The easiest way to achieve (i) is to start it in the server's JVM, with LocateRegistry.createRegistry(). -
Class not Found Exception while running an EJB
I have created and published a EJB in Oracle 8i (in a particular

Need a simple network accessibility for RMI class files.
I am trying to get an RMI server working and need a way to make the class files network accessible. The link: http://java.sun.com/javase/technologies/core/basic/rmi/class-server.zip does seem to have the server anymore. Anyone know where to get a copy of it?
Is there a way to do this with Jini?
Can oc4j be used?I am trying to get an RMI server working and need a way to make the class files network accessible. The link: http://java.sun.com/javase/technologies/core/basic/rmi/class-server.zip does seem to have the server anymore. Anyone know where to get a copy of it?
Not much point really. That class file server only served .class files, not even JARs.
Is there a way to do this with Jini?No.
Can oc4j be used?Not by itself.
Anything that will serve HTTP requests will do. Such as an HTTP server. Such as the one built into the JDK for example. -
I am deploying an .ear file to an Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.0.2. In one container, it deploys correctly. In another conatiner on the same server and configured identically (or at least I believe), I try to deploy the same .ear file but I get the error:
Deployment failed: Nested exception
Resolution:
Base Exception:
com.evermind.server.rmi.OrionRemoteException

java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException. Class not found: org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException; nested exception is:
java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.springframework.beans.factory.BeanCreationException
Anyone would have an idea why? Thanks in advance.Greetings,
Your error implies that the classpath for the second deployment might be wrong. This cannot be the package if you are deploying an identical ear file. Can you look at the setup for the second container from the admin to see if there is an RMI connection configured incorrectly? Check your opmn.xml file for port info:
<port id="rmi" range="12401-12500"/>and check the server using netstat -a to see if the configured port is open for use before starting the OAS.

Hi all,
I've basically read through about 20 threads and none of the solutions thus far have worked for me. I'm trying to get some RMI classes up and running. Half of them compiled with rmic, half of them didn't; the ones that failed were those that have dependencies (specifically the ROME project).
I tried running rmic -classpath . -d . foo.web.services.remote.impl.FeedImpl and it gives me several errors saying that various classes in com.sun.syndication.feed.synd.* could not be found. I'm running the command from the root directory (i.e., the directory that contains the 'foo' folder). The JARs containing the missing classes are in this root directory.
* I've tried resetting the classpath ("SET classpath=") before executing.
* I've tried running the -depend flag.
* I've tried initializing the registry first. No idea why that would help but apparently it worked for someone.
Since the classes that do not have dependencies are running fine, I'm pretty certain this is a classpath issue.
Any ideas? Thanks.A classpath item is either a directory where a .class file can be found, in a subdirectory corresponding to its package, or a JAR file name. If you want the JARs included in the classpath you have to name them; naming the directory they're in doesn't do it.

I have defined the CLASSPATH and then also i get this error.
I checked in the forum for this type of error but still have the same problem after making some changes.
Can anyone please explain me why ?
Thanx in advance....Hi
I got the solution..
I dint include the "bin" directry in the classpath...
the stub class was in bin dir..

Class not found while using rmic.exe
This is my first RMI program, so bear with me.
After compiling both my object interface class file and my object implementation file (both with no errors), i move on to create the stubs/skeletons (or whatever they are called). After executing rmic MyObjImplementation, i get an error saying the following - "error: Class InputDeviceImpl.class not found."
I dont understand this, the .class file is indeed in the directory, and i know the rmic.exe sees it because i have tried to type "rmic *.class" and it gives the same error for every .class file in the directory.
whats going on?
-joeywell i figured out to compile the program, but i still dont understand what happened. I read the tutorial on this website, and it told me to start the rmi registry first. So does this mean that i have to do this each and everytime?
