RMI with display mapping
Hi,
I am using Java RMI to control a unix solaris Java application from a xp Java application on a PC. While I could have the unix side send the pc side data which would be displayed in the usual way on the PC, I was wondering if there is a way to have the unix side display the data and somehow map the display to show up on the the PC side.
Acutually I am re-doing an application which was originally only on the unix side, so I might save a lot of code if I could do a unix display to pc display mapping (perhaps outside of the Java environment). This woudl be especially useful since not all the unix java methods work on XP java (like jFileChooser which is a documented bug).
Thanks in advance for your help,

Assuming I understand his question correctly, here is
the scenario:
You have an application running on a machine, and it
has a GUI. Now you want to be able to have the
application's GUI appear on the screen of one or more
remote clients, while the application continues to
operate on the server machine.
People who's development experience is from a Unix
type OS environment are quite familiar with this
ability. First it they had telnet, for console based
applications, later they got XWindows, for GUI
applications.
Java display remoting however, is like XWindows on
steroids. The display and presentation code now
actually execute on the client. The open source
project I lead
at java.net not only can do this, but with no
architectural impact to the application itself. It
can remote the GUI as an applet, or as an application
via WebStart.
I hope that helped,
JohnIn my case, I need the java application to do file I/O on the unix server side, not the XP client side. I just need the gui to appear on the XP client side. John, would the cajo environment automatically support this scenario?
Thanks,
Techy613

When using google maps through Firefox, after asking for a place which is not the general North America section which routinely comes up, the firefox screen goes white, with a narrow banner at the top. A message appears in the lower right corner which says something about display drivers having had a problem, but now have recovered. However the display doesn't recover and the banner message is that Firefox is not responding. When I go to restart Firefox if I go to the restore point, the page is still frozen out.
I do not believe it is a problem with my computer because it doesn't happen if I use I.E. to go to google maps, then G-maps works normally.
This phenomenon did not happen before the latest upgrade to either Google or Firefox. I have used Fiefox for a number of years and also Google Maps on previous computers and on this one, and not had this before.
This is a relatively young computer (Asus EeSlate 121) less than a year old. I have used Firefox since I bought it and until recently had no problem with Google Maps.I solved it myself, after the "note" which came back from FF/Mozilla just as I finished my message, commenting on what it was that my system had , I wnnt back to check my plug-ins etc. I downloaded the latest Java, BOTH 32bit AND 64 bit versions and latest Firefox.
Now all is working.
Thanks,

Displaying Map object fields in DataTable
I am trying to create a shopping cart app. The ShopCart bean has a Map property:
Map shoppingItems = new Hashtable();In addition to the getter setter method, the bean has a addShoppingItem() method that adds a Product object to the Map.
public void addShoppingItem(String index,Product item)
shoppingItems.put(index,item);
}The Product class has fields, such as id, name, price and getter/setter methods. The index argument passed to addShoppingItem() is the id field of the value of the Product object.
I am now desperately trying to display information of all Product objects added to the Map in a datatable.
Is this possible? Please help.It should be possible - you will need something like
JSP/JSF code
<h:dataTable id="cart"
value="#{shoppingCart.products}"
var="product" first="0" >
<h:column >
<f:facet name="header">
<h:outputText value="product code" />
</f:facet>
<h:inputText id="productCode" value="#{id}" />
</h:column>
In your Backing bean code you will need a
Map getProducts() method
NOT the above definetely works whenreturning a List
I have seen people say it also works with a Map - but haven't tried it myself - so am not 100% sure
Post up your code & someone will help you out -

Why I can't open google maps on Safari? Everything have been working normally with my computer. But this problem with google maps I can't fix
Do you have an example? I develop Google maps for Web pages and haven't had problem with Safari and its extensions, only FF which I took out all the addons and plug-ins, but it wouldn't surprise if the Google map code doesn't display the map or information for the map or doesn't work with newer versions of Safari.

Hi,
I have an HTML page where an IMG is loaded:
<img src="images/renders/Main_Image.jpeg" alt="Main Image" name="Main_IMG" width="800" height="600" border="0" usemap="#Main_MAP" id="Main_IMG" />
Then I have 4 images maps laid on top of the image:
<map name="Main_MAP" id="Main_MAP">
<area shape="poly" coords="--some numbers--" href="Area1.html" target="_parent" alt="Area1 Button" />
<area shape="poly" coords="--some numbers--" href="Area2.html" target="_parent" alt="Area2 Button" />
<area shape="poly" coords="--some numbers--" href="Area3.html" target="_parent" alt="Area3 Button" />
<area shape="poly" coords="--some numbers" href="Area4.html" target="_parent" alt="Area4 Button"/>
</map>
See Example:
Each area is essentially an invisible button. I want to make it so when the mouse hovers over the areas, I want the background image to display something different. On mouse out of the area, I want the image to go back. When the user clicks the Area, the user is moved to another part of the site.
Area 1 should change Main_Image.jpeg to Main_Image1.jpeg
Area 2 should change Main_Image.jpeg to Main_Image2.jpeg
etc.
I thought I could do this with Images Maps, but I can't figure out how. Is there an easier way? I have Dreamweaver CS4.
Thank you in advance!Hey CF. Thank you very much for the reply! I thought I was losing my mind trying to figure out a way.
I'll try out the slice and dice approach... where's a turtle when you need one.
Cheers Dude.

Upgrading from XI/PI7.0 to 7.1 having problems with message mapping
Hello,
We are in the process over the past week of testing our XI/PI functionality after upgrading our 7.0 XI/PI environment to PI7.1; in particular several maps that were accessible in 7.0 will not open or diaplay in 7.1 complaining of a missing node in the mapping structure. Currently working with SAP on a possible fix but wanted to know if anyone else has done a true migration on top of an existing XI/PI7.0 system and experiencing similar issues (note: the maps can execute in the runtime environment but we can't display the maps source within message mapping; this also does not occur for all maps and there is no clear consistant theme to those that can be displayed and those that can't).
The lattest issue just encountered related to message mapping is that in test mode of a map (that can be displayed) attempting to display the data queue for the mapped elements are blank no data being displayed giving an error noting that the source text of object message mapping: name of the map; has syntax errors, java area import line x, package ibm.com.xi.mapping does not exist/ import ibm.com.xi.mapping UDF:
Has anyone upgraded from PI7.0 to 7.1 and experienced errors with existing maps that worked ok (ans still work in our QX/PRD systems) in their 7.0 envirinment but encountereing strange errors once upgrated to 7.1?
Thanks
Dereck Purnell
NewellRubbermaidHere is the solution we received from SAP to address the issue, there were several mapping related issues we started havng from maps that worked in our 7.0 system prior to the upgrade to PI 7.1. I will try to encorporate the solutions in this response.

We discovered another issue with mapping.
For some of the mappings, we are unable to display mapping queue. When
we execute, Interface mapping and Massage mapping, it works fine. But
display queue throws exception. Itu2019s not able to recognize libraries
used from dependent software component.
Please find document "Display Mapping Queue Issue" providing example
problem.

Thank you for your update. I wanted to check with "CopyValue"
function's index. It has to take an input integer and the problem that
found while debugging the opening of your mapping is that the input
was empty thus causing the exception.
I was going to suggest the intended use of "CopyValue" function.
When the input to "copyValue" is a constant, "copyValue" is totally
not necessary. Thus constant can be directly mapped to other function.
When the input is a node with values in context, you can treat one of
values say input[0] to used in mapping by using CopyValue[0].
But please make sure that input[0] will always produce a value.
Note 877964 will describe in detail on Copyvalue usage.
I am marking this Message as complete. Please confirm. -
Problems with Parameter Mapping
Hi All,
I have problems with parameter-mapping. For me its a black box, sometimes it works sometimes not.
Lots of times my mappings doesnt work, and I dont know the reason.
For example: I want to map my Execution-CO to the Display-CO. For that I map the in the affected Action.
But it doesnt work, although I do have the same Context Structures, because its the same CO. The technical Name is also the same.
What could it be?
Thanks for answering me
Bye SteveHi Andre,
sorry for my late answer, but I'm writing my diploma thesis and wasnt at work since wednesday and so I dont have a access to our GP-System.
Hope I understood you right.
The Use Case of parameter mapping is that Users of further steps has the possibility to see the Input of previous steps.
When I dont map the parameter inside one action, it isnt possible. I tried it out with the SAP example "Time-off-process". I took the CO "Create Request" and add it in one Action (as Display & Execution). When I understand you right mapping inside an action is not necessary, to see the Inputs from further Actions --> But this way I cannot see the Inputs.
The mapping of my application works before I changed it.
I know never touch a running system, but It was necessary, we need a new Input and Output Parameter.
Cause I have 20 parameter the mapping was very time-consuming, to map every single parameter. I read a method to reduce the time: Adding a structure requires only mapping of the two structures. But now the Mapping doesnt work.
Hope you can help me

Lightroom 5.2 map module not displaying maps
I am having all sorts of problems with Lightroom 5.2 and wish I'd just stayed with Lightroom 4. I've already posted about not being able to import directly from an SD card in my laptops reader, and have at least found a work around to that (copy files to hard drive them import - I see others have found the same thing and it works just fine).
Now I have realised that the map screen in the map module is blank. I had this problem initially with Lightroom 5, and then it seemed to resolve itself. It is refusing to resolve itself in Lightroom 5.2 however. I've searched on the web for similar problems, and have found some responses to blank map screens in Lightroom 4, but they are so technical I haven't got a clue where to start trying to follow them.
So, I am a simple soul who needs a simple answer. I am using LR 5.2 on an HP laptop running Windows 7. In the map module, where I already have GPS data (from a Canon EOS 6D) it is displayed in the metadata, and the little pop up box shows the number of photos at selected locations etc. But the central map screen is black. If I search, the screen stays black although it appears as though it has gone to the location. The Navigator screen is blank too. And yes, I am connected to the internet and LR5.2 seems to be able to find the internet (I checked by going into the web module).
Can anyone help me please. I like to put GPS locations on my photos prior to upload to Flickr, and whereas they are there from photos from my 6D, they don't exist for photos taken on my Canon Powershot.A work-around that I am using is to run Lightroom as an administrator on my Windows 7 system (right-click on the icon and choose run as administrator). Everything then works ok. I also needed to run as an administrator to be able to update some plug-ins I was using. I fixed the plug-in update issues by changing the permissions on plug-ins folder. I suspect that it is a similar issue with the maps.
I have not figured out what folder or files need to have the permissions altered to stop Lightroom from working in the unelevated state but if someone reading this knows please share. I saw some posts related to the same issue but on Macs but the Windows configuration is different.

How to use Google Maps with dvt:map ?

Native support of Google Maps and Bing Maps API. You can now display
Google and Bing maps natively in your Oracle Maps (JavaScript)
applications. Please check out the online Oracle Maps JSDoc API on
how to use the new classes.Unfortunatly it looks like it's not possible with dvt:map
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15523_01/apirefs.1111/e12418/tagdoc/dvt_map.html
It's an important requirement for our project and probably for many ADF customers.
I would like to know if :
Is there any way to use Google Maps with dvt:map ?
Otherwise, is there any plan to support it ? Should we expect it within a year ?
Else, I think we will use directly the Javascript Oracle Maps API but we will miss the built-in functionnalities of dvt:map
Thanks in advance,

Floating point display mapping
To avoid negative values I convert my images to floating point when they are full 16 bit.
But now i have another problem. De 16 bit display mapping function does not work. I i want to display a range of pixels (ex. grey values 40000 - > 50000) nothing happens. Is there a way to display a floating point image with a function like there is for 16 bit images (given range) without converting the actual pixels.This VI does only what the 16 bit display mapping function does (exept that there is an error made in this VI). The included 16 bit image is not full 16 bit (min = 176, max = 4095, only 15 bits are used). In attachment I included for you a full 16 bit image (values from 0 -> 65536) Imaq will read this as values ranging from -32768 -> 32767.
If you open this Image with the VI you suggested you will get a full black 8 bit image. The original image is a gray gradient from black to white.
The error in this VI is that the casting to I32 has to be done before you use the max-min function.
Otherwise you get 32767 -(-32768) = -1 because you have an overflow with I16.
This VI is not a solution because we have to analyze full 16 bit images for
there real gray values.
So if we convert the image to 8 bit we loose information. So if we take a line profile or a histogram it is difficult to use if the image is full 16 bit.
I can not understand why a signed data type is used for images. Images don't have negative values.
This is not the first time I mentioned this. I hope that NI understands the problem.

Displaying maps in MapViewer at a defined scale
Dear all
Is it possible to display maps in MapViewer 10.2.1 at a defined scale? For example 1:10,000; 1:5,000; 1:2,500 and so on.
If so does the Oracle MapViewer map scale refer to a representative fraction value? If not does anyone here know what the MapViewer map scale does refer to?
I have attempted to calculate the map units for a complete map but as my ground distance is in metres, I converted by display size to metres. Is that okay or does MapViewer requires it to be keep in inches?
Converting to metres I got a value of 7877.8229644371376654841221770792.
If I stayed with inches I get 200.09670329670329670329670329672
Would I be right in thinking that for raster maps whose image dpi is not 72dpi, you use the dpi value of the raster map image and not 72dpi.
Kind regards
TimJoao,
Having thought your answer it would work, it didn't. Having read through the MapViewer manual, I can find no reference to scale with regard to centre. There is just size.
Using scale I got an error message which I've posted below. However as soon as I changed it to size I got no error message, although I get a blank screen no matter which number I've used.
The error using scale is:

Hello,
We got a problem with user-mapping to a SAP system.
We create a SAp system, and an alias to this system.
We add a user mapping for the administrator (user, not group). Check for connector is OK.
Now, we make the same user-mapping for a group.
if the user also belongs to the group "administrator" this mapping works, otherwise this fail with a message <b>"com.sapportals.portal.ivs.cg.SystemNotFoundException: Got null system object for alias R3HR".
</b>After checking, there is no user-mapping for the "administrator" group, nor for the roles that belong to that group, nor for the user.
So, it seem that the alias is only visible for an admin.
does any one got an idea ? we are on SP14, Linux.
regards
Guillaume PATRYHI Guillaume,
The user mapping is available for both Admin as well as end users.
Open your system from System Administration>System Configuration>System Landscape.
In the property editor,in dropdown for property category,
select the logon method as UID?password and User Mapping type to admin/user.
Then you can create a Group,map the system alias for this group and add users to this group.
Also,in the property editor for the system,from dropdown for display,select permissions , and add the group to asssigned permissions as READ ONLY and select the checkbox for ENDUSER.
Hope,this resolves your problem.
Regards,
Siddhartha
