RMS terminology and power comparison standards

I am doing my research in order to find the best of the best 2.1 speaker system for my PC. I already have an AUDIGY 2 SE soundcard and I would like to support it with an excellent sound output set. While comparing different speaker systems I have came up with the following two best of the best products: Creative I-Trigue L3800 (Price 99GBP) and Logitech Z-2300 (Price 91GBP). Even if these are the best of the best it seems that they have a serious difference of power between them. Here is the RMS speaker power specifications:
1.Creative I-Trigue L3800: 9 Watts RMS per channel (2 channels) 30 Watts RMS subwoofer 2.Logitech Z-2300: Total RMS power: 200 watts RMS Satellites: 80 watts RMS (40 watts x 2)
Subwoofer: 20 watts RMS Total peak power: 400 watts
My conclusion from the above data is that Logitech Speakers are 4 times more powerful from those of Creative (200 watts compared to 48 watts). Is my above conclusion correct? What else do I have to compare in order to buy the best system?

Clearly the " RMS " is the standard.
They do clarify their goofy ratings
in small print on some pages.
Those LT's you mention are great deal.
Very similar but in a revered brand - KLIPSCH -
a similar system is available for about $30. more.
That 'THX' certification is supposedly a big deal.
Big plus with the L3800 is remote controls functions
on Zen Vision M.

There is a rumor running around that a new VoIP power standard is comming out. Does anyone know of this and can provide some details on compatibility with existing hardware?

The new standard is 802.3af. The 4148 cards and power supplies need to be replaced. The latest I have received from many sources are that the Cards will be available Q4 of this year and the power supplies Q1 of next year. As we all know from past new releases sometime the new releases don't hold up and need at least a quarter or two to get the bugs out. Sorry for the long copy and paste. I read that I can upgrade the video card and power supply. But atm when I play world of warcraft at ultra settings, I tend to lag really bad in the new instances with the new cat expansion that came out. I wanted to know if I should upgrade the video card and power supply for better performance or just upgrade my whole pc tower. Fyi, I am running a Acer X243w lcd flat panel monitor if that helps too.

My brother has a high end laptop with a built in, high end gaming video card (I forget which one). He's able to run the game on full-on Ultra.
I have an integrated video card which games the game on.. 'cartoon'.. mode. It's lower then low. When someone shoots a powerful spell at me, I go into a DOS Prompt. (not really, but it's pretty bad).
Funny thing is, I can still kick my brother's butt in any PVP match he wants to set up.
But I guess his graphics are pretty....
As for which video card works best, I'd have to do some research. After that graphics update they did with CAT, it's kind of a toss up again.

It is unlikely that the power supply will fit/work in your HP Pavilion p6213w Desktop Computer. Please consider the Corsiar CX500, CX500M, CX600, and CX600M for your power supply needs. These power supplies are the same physical size as the factory unit and are known to fit and work in most HP full-sized consumer desktop computers.
There is a chance that the GTX 760 and other current generation video cards may not work in your computer. These newer cards typically require the computer to support the most current UEFI standards and many motherboards don't meet this criteria. Please know the return policy on any video card you purchase, in case it doesn't work. If the GTX 760 doesn't work, consider the GTX 650/660 Ti or equivalent AMD graphics card for your graphics card needs.

Unfortunately there is no free trial for Acrobat Standard.
You can purchase the Standard version ,and if it does not suit your requirements ,you can return that back to us and opt for the Pro version.There is a 30 day return policy .
The reason being there is a price difference between the Standard and Pro version for Acrobat .

Try the standard fixes in squence:
- Reset the iPod (may not work because of power button problem).
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore the iPod from backup
- Restore the iPod to factoery defaults/new iPod
If you still have a problem, it is likely due to a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

T400 and Incompatibility with Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC Hal.dll

I manage the master XP image for our company and I have managed to keep 1 master image for every model of laptop hardware we have, from older P3's all the way to the T61's using the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC Hal.dll. During the sysprep process, the user would have the option to update the HAL to the ACPI Multiprocessor PC. Unfortunately, the new T400 and (W500's also) seem to be incompatibile with this HAL. On the sysprepped image, I get a black screen on initial boot-up. On reboot, I am asked if I want to start in safe mode. I also played around with the Standard PC HAL and it also exhibited the same problems. The only HALs that will work are the ACPI Uniprocessor PC HAL and ACPI Multiprocessor PC. Using either one of these HALs on my master image could be incompatibile with older hardware. I hate to have to move to maintaining two images. Anybody have any experience in getting the Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC HAL working on these new Lenovo models? Thanks in advance.

I also have the same problem.
I have a hardware independant image that i have built in MS VPC / MS VS05 which is then sysprep'd and captured into a WIM file.
Before i built my base image in the virtual environment, i configured all the automation files used to install windows, to include the latest Intel Matrix drivers v8.5, including the sysprep files in the base image.
I have a custom WinPE v2.1 that the machine boots of the network, and runs a vbscript in the background to partition the disks, and map drives to the network, it then extracts the WIM file to the hard disk, and copies the required drivers from the network share for the model being imaged, and then proceeds to updating the sysprep.inf.
One of the process's that is performed is checking what HAL to write into the sysprep file.
I have forced all the different types of HAL's by hard coding them in the sysprep, but after the machine reboots i get the black screen of nothing and no hard disk activity, if i reboot into safe mode it freezes on agpCPQ.sys.
I use this build process to support around 5,000 different machines at two different companies, there is proberly about 30 different models of machines that are supported by this image, (HP, Acer, Toshiba, IBM, Lenovo)and i only have the issue with the new Lenovo x301, T400 & T500.
I have spoken with Lenovo Australia, and dealt directly with the advanced system engineers and even forwarded them a copy of my image for testing, so far they have not been able to provide a solution.
They also sent me a copy of the restore disks for those models and windows xp installed without an issue, but the difference is that their image does a fully automated install where as my image is a sysprep'd image.
I checked the machines HAL type after it was imaged, and it is the same as the HAL used inside my VM Image.

[865PE/G Neo2 Series] Memory timings and power settings anyone?

I'm not very good with computers, so I've just played around with the timings on my memory, but have not found one stable setting as of yet.
The memory is brand new and I've tested it for errors on my brothers computer and there's nothing wrong there.
Intensive harddrive usage, dvd playing and intense downloading while listening to music are sure ways to crash my system. "..........Not less or equal" is the most common error message, but there are
many many more.
Oh, maybe I should point out that overheating's not an issue, cause I've good fans and run my computer without sidepanels.
I also like to say that I have the first generation of p4 with ht and 533fsb.
I'm sure there's something I forgot to mention but here below I'll paste the system summary that Sandra gave me.
Would be forever grateful if someone could help me out with the memory timings and power settings for my board. Setting it to "auto by spd" gives me a very unstable system, so no avail there.
I'm running the mem at 2.70 and sometimes at 2.65, since these two settings seem to be the ones with least crashes.
The Memory installed are 4*512mb ,kingston 512 kvr333x64c25 pc2700
The PSU is a Tagan "TG480-u01" 480w

Danny: 1. Yes, I've put my memory in my brothers computer, and ran memtest there, and it came out ok, but on mine it crashes almost instantly.
2. Yea, I have 2 fans blowing into the case and one out, so airflow is good, cpu is also cool and seems to be happy ;-)

all methods in math class are static so you have to call them as
Math.pow() and Math.sqrt() you dont have to import any additional packages as Math is a class available in java.lang package
you have to change your

math class also provides the value of Pi you can access it using Math.PI

Does it run regular Windows 8 (allowing you to install the same apps as older versions of Windows in the desktop) or does it run Windows 8 RT, where only apps from the Windows Store are allowed? It looks like regular Windows 8, in which case you can try out the free trial of Acrobat Pro.
If it works, the Acrobat SDK (separate download) has all developer information on Acrobat, and you need it (give up any idea you will find code ready for use on Google...)

Hi! I purchased my ATV in Miami, but I live in Argentina. I have not been able to get the device running on any TVs. When I plug it in, it briefly shows the apple logo, then a sign saying no signal, check power cords and power source or sthg like that.

I have not been able to get my device running correctly, and altough I've read tons of things online, I still have no solution to my problem.
Here's the thing: after everything's plugged in and ON, I see the Apple logo briefly, then the TV displays a sign that says no signal, check pwoer cords and power source.
But everything is plugged in and connected properly, otherwise, I doubt I'd be seeing the apple logo, right?
I tried changing the HDMI cable, reversing the ends, switching ports, hard resetting the ATV, and trying a different TV. No luck.
I read there is some issue with Samsung TVs, and most LED and LCD tvs down here are Samsung.
On the other hand, I cannot return it or exchange it, since I bought it in the states.
Oh! One of the tvs I tried it on displays a little sign that reads "connected at 1280x720 @60hz", and only THEN, goes to the "no signal" sign.
Please!!! I am being driven up the walls here.... HELP!!

Try this:
Change the Apple TV resolution:
Press and hold the Menu and Up button on your Apple Remote for six seconds.
The Apple TV will automatically cycle to the next resolution at approximately 20 second intervals.
Press Play on the Apple Remote to keep the current resolution or Select to manually cycle to the next resolution.

It's almost impossible. The new iMacs have a Target Display Mode, but it's built to do that. Without ripping your screen out, finding an acceptable power supply, frame, and whatever electronics to convert a Thunderbolt signal to the screen, the cost will be much larger than buying a cheaper HiDef monitor that runs with an HDMI to Thunderbolt cable to your MacBook 15. In fact, you can sell your 17" MBP for a lot of money, unless it's broken or something, buying you a really sweet monitor.

Did you try rebooting the iPad? You will need to have some battery power for this.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

Is it possible to virtually bypass the battery on a macbook pro (retina 2014) and power the mac directly via AC power?
E.g. Dell allows you to plug the laptop into AC power but prevent battery charging.
Note: I do not want to physically remove the battery.
If there isn't an option on Mac OS, is there anything I can download to bypass the battery when I want?

Thanks for linking me! Wow I had no idea the clock speed would be cut so severely! What a bunch of rubbish, as if the AC won't provide enough power!
I guess the only solution to my question would be an app which virtually disconnects the battery but tricks the mac into thinking the battery is still connected. I'm just surprised Apple haven't yet started to build prisons for the government - considering how well they lock up their software and hardware!
