RMX Stylus preset list

I'd like to have a prest list of RMX Stylus, or even better an instrument/styles category of them, so that I can find quickly what I need in my arrangement. At now I often don't remember where I can find that effect or instrument or other (i.e. a revers cymbal) I had heard time ago.....
Any comments?

What I did was spend a day just going through all the libraries making a "favorites" of each major category (Club, Electronic, etc...). Anything that caught my interest and I thought I'd like to use, I just added it. I've got about 7 or 8 favorites folders and finding loops I'd like to use in tracks is a breeze. Not sure if that's what you mean, but I find that this worked out really well for me.

Import/Export presets list is empty

I am using the most recent version of photoshop CC, 14.2 64-bit under Windows 7, I was optimizing the menus/shortcuts/workspaces/tools for my needs, and wanted to make a backup of my settings/presets on a flash drive to take on the go. When I go to Edit --> Presets --> Export/Import Presets, the list shows up empty and I am unable to do this.
So as a summary:
PS 14.2 x64 under Win7
Changed multiple settings and presets
Export presets list empty
I checked inside the PS folder in Program Files, my settings (well, at least actions and brushes) are showing up as unique files, but somehow aren't picked up by "export presets"

[AI-CS5]How to get default pdf preset list.

Hi All,
I want to get the complete list of pdf presets, the same"Adobe PDF Preset" list which we see in "Save Adobe PDF" dialog.
I am unable to find any method to get this list programatically.
Can anyone please point me in the right direction ?
Is It feasible/possible to get list programatically ?
I am able to get the list in Indesign using "IPDFExptStyleListMgr" interface. Do we have its counterpart in AI as well.

I am not sure, if PDF Preset Folder remains same universally. Is there some preferences user can set to changes preset folder path ?
If not than I suppose, I can do this . Though Drawback with this approach is, It will requires iteration on two folders, first on All User's App folder than on current login user's App folder for custom presets. Also I need to write different code for both Win and Mac.
I was looking for some better approach. Don't AI provide some API for this simple task ?

RMX Stylus Multi Channel

I'm trying to Multi Channel Stylus RMX. After I set up 8 Aux tracks in Logic, and change each output in Stylus mixer. I dragged, and dropped the midi pattern on the instrument track, but did not hear any sound when I hit play in Logic. I only hear sound, and see my levels move in the Aux channel strips in Logic when I hit the play button in Stylus. So I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong....

I checked out the video, and I got my answer, but I have one more question. You know when you play an entire drum pattern on one track, and you can separate them by choosing Demix by note pitch in Split/Demix (Region Dropdown). When I'm not in Multi mode, and I just drag, and drop a loop from Stylus, and I choose Demix by note pitch, it gives me a weird separation, and I was wondering what I can do to separate the different drum parts from an RMX Loop

LR3 Saved Presets list in Library is so looooooooong!

Is there a way to shorten the list of presets in the Library menu's drop-down menu? The new list of stock Lightroom presets is huge and I never use ANY of them. Would love to be able to turn them off completely or delete them.

It's not a bug, it's by design. A bad design at that and one that the engineering team have been left in no doubt needs to be addressed. Unfortunately, it always seems to have a lower priority than some less painful shortcomings in the design.

Presets list of composition type

If you are referring to the dropdown menu for "Preset", then no, there doesn't seem to be direct access to it.
app.executeCommand(2000); in AE CC will give you the window, but there isn't a way to navigate it.
What I would do is create multi-dimentional array matching those preset values manually then you could access those array items to add a new comps as needed.
This code gives you an idea:

Using GPO to pin a preset list of icons on the taskbar for each user that logs onto their workstation?

I would like to have the taskbar show a predetermined set of icons (Word, Excel, PPT, etc.) pinned to taskbar when a user first logs into their host machine. Is this doable through a default GPO setting or do I need to do this via scripting?

Nothing listed in Printing Presets

Hello,
I've been using iPhoto for a while and recently I got my dad hooked on it with his new G5 iMac and Epson R320 Printer. One of my favorite iPhoto features is how simple printing is. All I do is pick my pix and layout, choose "Photo on Photo Paper - Fine" in the Presets section of the print Dialog and let her rip. This has been the case on both of my Epson printers (an old 870 and my new R1800.)
My dad however does not have anything besides "Standard" listed in the "Presets" section of the print dialog. He goes into Advanced and has been getting horrible looking prints from the R320 - a really nice printer! I have tried to fix this by trashing iPhoto's plist, trashing printers, using PSR to reset printing, reinstalling the driver for the R320 from the CD and reinstalling the R320 driver from the Epson web site. Nothing has added anything under the presets heading.
How does one get those choices AUTOMATICALLY listed in the Presets section? I know I can make my own, but I'd like this to be "default simple" for my dad...

For my older Epson 870 and my brand new Epson R1800 there are 4 presets listed which take care of the hassle of changing paper type and such, it really makes printing simple. For many HPs there are even more for different types of media, again simple. I contacted both Apple and Epson and both tell me it's the other guy's doing - bottom line, I'm going to create some for my dad. The reason I didn't do that before is b/c for some reason, on his, simply picking paper still didn't yield a good looking print. I thought maybe there was more to it (the "stock" presets) but I've looked over mine and it appears it's just about paper type.

Refresh List of Presets in Develop Settings?

Is it possible to force a refresh of list of the presets in the develop settings menu? I want to get around this issue:
1) Right click an image and select develop settings - a list of the presets in the CameraRaw/Settings folder is shown in the submenu.
2) With bidge remaining in the foreground open, change the contents of the presets in the CameraRaw/Settings folder (I'm doing this with a jsx script in my case).
3) Right click an image and go to develop settings again - the list shown is the same as the list in step 1.
4) Give any other application focus and then come straight back into bridge.
5) Right click an image, select develop settings again - this time the preset list reflects what's in the CameraRaw/Settings folder.
So is it possible to force bridge to refresh that list somehow within my jsx script?

Long list of Dev. presets back.

Oh, the long, long preset list is back! I had edited all of the Develop Presets out, and saved a copy of the Develop file before the last update. I tried to reuse this file now, with the 3.4 update, but LR will not launch with this file. I can not edit this (new develop) file with the file hacker program (Resource Hacker) I used before. Any help?

Well, after updating to LR 3.4.1, I tried again to edit out the long list of Develop Presets. And what'ya know! Resource Hacker will edit it! I am not sure if I did wrong a few weeks ago, or what. But I now have a list (on Grid View) of presets that is just User Presets. Much nicer.

Aperture Import Panel - Missing field list for "add metadata from" presets

I have MacBookPro using OSX 10.5.6 and Aperture 2.1.2.
Prior to Aperture & Leopard upgrades when I imported images I had presets for basic import data (copywrite, byline, caption etc) and the list would show up on the lower right side of the import screen.
Now, although I can select a "preset list" from the "Add Metadata from" pick list nothing happens. There are no fields listed to append data to.
Not sure what is causing this but it makes adding import impossible to add any metadata.
Any suggestions. I have searched the support posts and find nothing like this solved.
Appreciate any ideas.

I was able to solve the problem by deleting the com.apple.aperture.plist file
First I made note of all my preferences, then I deleted the file. Closed Aperture and then re-booted the MacBookPro.
Once I rebooted and relaunched Aperture, reset preferences and closed Aperture and then restarted Aperture and now the Import panel is back to normal with the appropriate lists showing for the "add metadata from" presets.
Hopefully this will help others.

Loading presets via Media Library Browser

Hi - apologies if this has cropped upbefore, couldn't find any post directly relating to this issue.
I have saved channel strip presets of initialized soft instruments (logic'c own & 3rd Party). This allows me to select a channel strip with just the instrument in it, saving having to drill down via the usual instrument channel strip plugin slot.
I then have presets for all instruments(inc EXS 24 INSTRUMENTS) saved in the plugins presets folder.
In Logic 8, after inserting a software instrument via the channel strip preset in the Media library browser, the instrument would load and then the Library focus would shift to the plugin inserted in the mixer strip, thus bringing up access to that instruments sounds (i.e. presets).
However in Logic 9.02, after selecting the channel strip preset, the focus (i.e. the white box) jumps back to the main channel strip preset list again and not the instruments preset list?
I've tried saving the channel strip with the first instrument preset loaded, but this appears to make no difference.
Am i missing something obvious? Sorry for the long explanation, just wanted to be clear!

Please read *at least* the Getting Started manuals that come with Logic.
You are really going to have a poor experience using Logic if you really have no conceptual grasp of the fundamentals. The Getting Started manual walks you through all the common things you need to know for general use.
To answer your question, you just double-click on the plugin you want to open in the channel strip it's inserted on, either in the inspector-channel strip, the channel strips display in the mixer, or the channel strips displayed in the environment.
The plugin gui also opens automatically when you insert a plugin to a channel.
What determines what category a preset shows up in
A "preset" could by one of many different ypes of things:
- A Logic plugin settings files
- A Logic EXS24 sampler instrument
- An audiounit preset
- A plugins proprietry preset or bank format
- A channel strip preset
- An impulse response
- A Steinberg VST-format preset or bank
It really depends on a per plugin basis how that developer has implemented the preset handling. Some plugins, you simply have very little other choice but to use their own inbuilt preset handling. Many plugins expose their presets as audio unit presets that come up in Logic's settings menu.
But if you are using lots of third-party plugins, in the main there is no way to guarantee a seamless, unified, consistent approach to presets - there simply isn't one.
(And I think it's a really bad thing - despite the convenience, disk space and wealth of resources we have available to us today, in many ways patch handling for instrument plugins is way worse than it was back in the nineties when all we had was hardware synths and universal editors.)
2. How do I gain access to the soft synth manufacturer's presets from within Logic and Mainstage as all I see are Logic's Instruments, Jam Packs and GB Presets.
The first place to look is the plugin settings menu at the top of the plugin. These settings files will also be available in the library browser.
If a plugin only uses it's own patch handling system, like something like Omnisphere or Stylus RMX, you simply have to use the plugin to pick presets, and not Logic.
3. How can I control the categories that the presets that I have created are stored in.
Once you understand the different types of data, where they are stored and what they are used for, you can in general organise things how you want in the finder, with some exceptions. I'd recommend leaving the presets alone (in the root library) and storing your own sounds, or copies of reorganised presets, in the user library, to keep them separate, which makes Logic updates less likely to lose your data.
Manuals. Like I say, at least read the Getting Started manual, and read the plugin manuals for an overview of the plugins and their data.

Creating Custom Bullets & Lists in Pages 5.0

I cannot figure out how to create a custom numbered list in Pages 5.0. I had custom LISTS on my 4.3 Docs that did not migrate to 5.0. How do I create duplicate LIST STYLE in 5.0?

On the format menu on the right side, there is the font section, alignment section, spacing section, and bullets & lists section. Next to the bullets & lists section is a drop-down menu of preset lists. At the top-right of this menu is a plus sign. Clicking on this will allow you to create a new list in that menu and title it. From there, you will have to manually create your custom list change the type of bullets (numbers, roman numerals, letters, etc.) -- you might need to click on the disclosure triangle to the left of the bullets & lists title to see this part. When you finish with your custom list, there will be an asterik next to the title of the list, and if you click on that title, the drop-down menu will open up again and you can hit "Update" next to your list name. This should save the style for that custom list. Here is the most important part: When you have finished making this list, make sure you save the document as a template and select that template if you ever want to use that list. I have found that a custom list in a document (saved or deleted) that is not made into a template does not carry over into other documents. Setting up this custom list may take a while, but hopefully it will work and make things easier. I hope this makes sense, and let me know if you cannot understand something. Hopefully this picture will help too.

Preset Preview on Second Monitor

I would like to take this opportunity to submit a feature request that would make it possible to preview how a preset would look like on a second monitor. As it currently stands you can preview the effect in the small image above the preset list. Unfortunately it can be difficult to judge the effect a preset will have on the image because of the relatively small image your previewing it on.
It would be sooo nice to be able to see the preview on a second monitor, and will cut down on the number of times a preset is applied and then removed because I didn't like how it looked when seen on the larger image.
BTW, thanks for making it possible in LR3 to filter and/or create smart folders based on Focal Length. It is greatly appreciated!
