Road Warrior Looking for Projector Recommendation

I present using Keynote on a Macbook Pro. Frequently disappointed by client-provided projectors. Looking for recommendation for portable LCD or DLP projector with DVI input. I have many videos embedded in Keynote presentations. I use client's audio system. Audience size varies but typically around 100-150. I do teacher training workshops, sometimes in school cafeterias and other rooms that are hard to darken. Any suggestions or tips will be greatly appreciated

Epson makes a Powerlight 78 <http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/consumer/consDetail.jsp?BV_UseBVCookie=yes& oid=63077323> which can connect via the HDMI VGA connector You should be able to find it on Amazon.

I am trying to find an app or software to burn iMovie 11 slideshow to a dvd.  I have a MacBook Pro with Mavericks.  There are a lot of DVD Creator apps at the App store. Looking for a recommendation of what to use and tips. Thank you.

I've been using "Burn" for years and it has been the only DVD burning software I have ever used for the mac. I have never needed to look at other apps. Unless you want something that has more bells and whistles such as Roxio's "Toast" : http://www.roxio.com/enu/products/toast/pro/overview.html
There are thousands of quality free apps out there for the mac that are not part of the App Store. All you have to do is read reviews online, do a little search, the Apple forums are full of recommendations from experienced users that have been here for years...

  • Looking for Some Recommendations on A Printer for the 15" MPB

    Hello-
I have a 15" retina display MBP configured in the works. I have only used Cannon printers in the past with my Apple computers and prefer to stay with a Cannon for the new MBP retina dispaly. I am looking for some personal recommendations to look at from people that have a current Cannon printer/scanner and are pleased with the machine.

I got one with my computer that I love. I'm a fan of all-in-ones because I have every function there if I need it. Plus, this one has airprint, so you can have the printer join your wifi network, and instantly print to it from any iOS device or Mac without any setup - it just works.

  • Looking for Headphone Recommendations for Zen Mi

    Hey Guys
Yup, another one of those annoying what one threads, but hopefully someone will take heart and help me out.
Yesterday I bought Myself a CL Zen Micro to replace my Sony HD-NW, due to the fact that XP 64Bit support for the Sony looks to be non existant. So far I'm very happy with the Volume, and Clarity of the music (I listen to anything and everything)
At the moment, my headphones are Sony MDR-V300 Cans, but I think that it might be time to retire them. The main reason is the 3 Metre Cable that comes with it. They are great phones, but I really need something a bit more shorted in the cable race, as I use them in work every day, and people are starting to notice the HUGE bulge in my pocket
What I'm looking for is a DJ Style Headphone (Over the Head, big cans - Due to a birth defect, I have no ear canal on my right ear, however, with the big cans, the sound vibrates through my skull, and into the Inner ear, which is formed. Voila, Sound in my Right Ear) with a standard Headphone jack, and ideally metre cable either straight or curly.
Can anyone help with a recommendation? Ideally I'm looking to spend sub ?50, but can go higher depending on the quality. I'm looking for a headphone that has a meaty bass, but doesnt sacrifice the Mid and Treble Range. A good all rounder that can handle Rock and metal as well as classical and jazz. I've been looking at either the Numark PHX, the Sony MDRV500 or the Sennheiser HD25'2.
    Cheers for any help

Koss Portapro. The look is retro-80s, but they are the best headphones on the market for less than $50. They're comfortable and they have a rich DJ sound which is good for rock music. They're not a real DJ-style headphone, but they should be okay for your needs.

  • Looking for AI Recommendations

    Hello Everybody,
I am a Logic X user as well as Ableton 9. I was looking for a new AI for my new 2013 iMac.  I rarely have the need for more than (1) Mic and (1) Guitar input but would like the flexability to add a few more if some freinds came over and I wanted to make a tracked out recording of our jam.  I have recently been pointed towards the Motu line of products and really liked what I saw. I particly liked the Motu 16 and it was right around my price range. I currently have a PeSonus Inspire and a Apogee Jam.  Any info anybody could give me on the Motu 16 (good or bad) or any of the other motu line or other products that you think may be as good or better.
    Thank you in advance,

I'm looking for camcorders that no more than $300 and record on flash
    memory.
The only type of camcorder that records on flash memory that FCE supports is AVCHD, and you're going to find it hard to get a decent AVCHD camcorder for $300 or less. You might try looking around on eBay or other discount sellers if you're on a budget.
I'd recommend going to your favorite manufacturer's website (Canon, Panasonic, etc.) and searching around for a DV, HDV, or AVCHD camcorder that you like and fits your needs. Then search around the internet for the cheapest way to buy it.

  • Looking for case recommendations, Touch 4G.

I'm looking for recommendations for a case for a Touch 4G. Both a hard case and a belt case ( not a clip on but with a belt loop ).

I bought a speck for my ipod touch 1g when i got it, loved it so much i got a speck candyshell for my ipod touch 4g and my iphone 4S. Love the rubber on the inside. A lot of people complain that with the ipod candyshell that little piece of the case breaks off at the bottom but i have had mine for a long time and it is not even loose. As long as you don't pull on it of course. I got both of mine off amazon they are not that expensive especially when considering what you get.

  • Looking for product recommendation

    Hello,
I'm looking for a product recommendation and configuration suggestions. I'd like to provide wireless access to the Internet (as well as our internal network) to people who bring their laptops and other wifi devices into the office.
Our network currently looks like this:
Internet --- DSL modem --- Firewall --- Switch --- Users (wired)
Which product should I use, and where should I place it in our topology? Between the firewall and switch?
    Thanks,
    Steve
Message Edited by generaltab on 09-10-2008 04:30 PM

You use WRT300N router and replace the firewall or place after the firewall on the queue you have specified and then connect the switch to router. Linksys routers have inbuilt firewalls.

  • Looking for a recommendation of a laptop mouse.

Thinking about using a mouse, either USB or wireless, on my iBook G4.
It would have to be small, ideally to use while the iBook is on my lap. Maybe on the flat surface just to the right of the trackpad.
Any recommendations? And I do have bluetooth.

Things like the Targus Bluetooth® Laser Mouse for Mac® come to mind. There are also small travel mice with retractable USB cables. An example is the Belkin Retractable Travel Mouse.

  • Looking  for book recommendations and version comparisons

My company is switching to WLS 10.0 (from a non-WebLogic server), and I would like to find a book on the subject. Ideally, but not necessarily, it would cover J2EE as well. I have been looking around a bit, and most of the books cover previous versions, so I am a little concerned about how relevant they are. For example, there is an O'Reilly Press book that sounds excellent, but it is based on v8.1. (And the J2ee stuff might be out of date as well.) Is that still a worthwhile book? What about a 9.2 book? Or a 10.3 book?
If there are any particularly good places to start in the vast pile of information at oracle.com, I would like to know that as well. Thanks all.

I compiled an a more recent review of WebLogic books as of end 2011 here:

  • Unable to clone database looking for some recommendations?

Hi I am running 10.2.0.3 on linux itanium and I am having difficulty getting my datbase cloned. I run 2 differnt types of backups on the production database which is about 700 gig in size. I online backups to disk in which the disk area is an oracle ASM diskgroup and then also I once a week a use the HP data protector software to backup to tape in order to have offsite tapes.
The only way that I know of to create the rman duplicate database on a different host is to have the new host connect to my media mgmt layer and pull the data file from tape. The problem is that it takes sooo long and also the process with tapes has been very error prone and I am having a great deal of difficulty getting the db cloned on the a different host. I know that my rman scripts work ok as I have used this method many times in the past with success burt what I was wondering is that if there is any way to use the online disk backups that I have in my ASM diskgroupo to clone to another host so that I do not have to mes with tapes any longer? Can i gave another host access to the ASM disk group somehow over the network without jeopardizing the integrity of the production data backups?
Thanks to any suggestions that may be provided.

    Hi there,
another host can only directly access you asm instance if you implement RAC, which is probably not suitable for you.
you can transfer the backup pieces with asmcmd copy command over the network, but you would need to upgrade
asm instance to 11g. another option is dbms_file_transfer. with this package you can transfer your backuppieces
over the network to a remote dir. Better will be the situation also in 11g as you can duplicate a database there
    from active database.

  • Looking for game recommendations (Pantech Crux)

So, I'd love to have a game or two available for times when I've got a bit of time to kill. I'd prefer some sort of puzzle game.
I bought mahjong... and I can't believe how bad it is. I played it for about a minute, and I doubt I'll even bother opening it up again. I should have just used that $7 to light my fireplace or something - it would have at least been somewhat useful. I didn't expect the quality of games on my Crux to be anywhere near what I get on my iPod touch 4, but I was hoping for something at least passable. The game itself is ridiculously tiny because screen real estate is taken up by the silly D-pad controls. It's incredibly tedious having to use the D-pad control to move a cursor: up-up-up-left-left-left... I'm almost to the tile that I want, then it snaps to some other one that I didn't want.
So, are there any games that I can get for the Crux that actually use the touch screen the way they should? (Not just turning my touch screen into a virtual version of some crappy phone from a decade ago).
    Thanks!

So, are there any games for the Crux that will actually use the touch screen properly (puzzle, or anything at all)?? Anyone with a Crux have any games that work well?

  • Looking for suitable gps app for iPhone

I'm looking for a recommendation for a suitable app for my phone. I'd like a GPS program that points me to how far away a point is and in which direction.
Basically, my Dad, before he died, had a proper GPS and programmed in some of our family relatives for when he was sailing. Now he's passed on I like the idea of where he and some other relatives are buried and I'd like something that, wherever I am, can tell me that, for example, my Dad is X miles away and in which direction.
I'm not looking for a routemaster app or anything more complex.
I can't see anything suitable - is there something out there that can do this?

Check out MotionX-GPS in the app store or at their web site (http://news.motionx.com/category/motionx-gps/).
You can enter waypoints in a number of ways, and once you have saved on, you can use their "search wheel" to follow a track you've recorded, get range and bearing to a waypoint, point to a lat/long coordinate.  It takes a bit of time to learn, but it is a pretty cool app.
