Roadrunner reports missing Windows Media Player 9 when accessing roadrunner Radio

Roadrunner report missing Windows Media Player 9 when trying to run Roadrunner Radio. I have higher version of Media Player on p.c. Is this an add-on I have to download?

Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 n above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

  • I can not install Windows Media Player plugin when i'm using the beta version of Mozilla. Even after the installation, it doesn't work.

Windows Media Player plugin doesn't work with the beta version of Mozilla.

Make it easier. C:/Program/Mozilla Firefox (the old installation) and copy the entire folder "plugins". Now go to the path of the Firefox beta installation and paste the folder. All the old add ons will work. Bye

  • Since I use Windows Media Player to listen to online radio, is it ok to disable QuickTime, Microsoft DRM Netscape, Motive and Mozilla Default?

An update page came on and talked about updating plug ins, which I know nothing about. After reading a couple of things, I found the part about disabling plug ins and found these on my list. I have no idea why I have them, so want to know if it's ok to delete them. I don't know if deleting them will cause a problem.

I don't know that much about UK radio station streaming, but I listen to BBC using realplayer.

    Might work for you too.
    Good Luck.

  • On G71-340US: very low volume when using DVD player, but OK when using Windows Media Player.

Just purchased new laptop G71-340US.  Volume (at full tilt) is decent when using Windows Media Player, but when using DVD player, volume is so low I can't really hear volume on a movie unless room is completely quiet, and I am right in front of laptop. Any suggestions, or is it really this bad?

I don't have the answer, but I certainly agree. The G71-340us is severly under powered in the audio department. You would think with the extra room in the 17in. chasis they could have put a sound system with a lot more power. Other than that it's a great machine.

  • Windows media player - can't open it, can't trash it

I recently upgraded from 10.3 to 10.4 then to 10.4.11. Everything was good.
I've installed all the updates etc. No problems.
The only problem (oh surprise, surprise) is that I cannot open windows media player and when I try to trash its folder it is says repeatedly that components this and that can't be trashed becuse they are 'fixed'.(I think)
I have flip4mac installed and other apps for playing video and audio. No problems as far as I can see with them.
How do I uninstall media player - forever and ever - please?
    Thanks anyone
    Gordon

    Hi Gordon!
This is probably the error message you are seeing.
"The operation could not be completed because the item 'item_name' is locked."
If you press the Option key, as you select Empty Trash, it should empty immediately.

  • Importing from windows media player

i have all my music stored in windows media player. and when i go to import it to my itunes from there it wont let it happen. it actually does nothing. i have over 400 songs that i would like on my ipod but have no clue on how to get it there. help!!!

    Are these protected WMA?
If so, you will need to burn them to an audio CD first.
If they are not protected, you can darg them to iTunes and they will be converted.

  • Windows Media Player to iTunes conversion

I have over 2500 songs that I had for my Windows Media Player. When I bought an iPod, I started converting all my songs to iTunes. But, now I have 2500 songs in Window Media files and 2500 songs in iTunes. This is killing my memory for my computer. If I delete a song for the Windows Media Player, it will not play in iTunes as it states "The song______ could not be used because the original file could not be found."
My question is, how do I keep all my songs in iTunes ONLY, so I can delete all the Window Media songs?

I'm sorry. Yes I have 2500 songs. Most of them are in WMA.format. 1/4 of them are in MP3.format. I've had all these songs prior to iTunes.
Now if I want all my songs transferred to my iPod, I had to copy and hit paste in my iTunes library. iTunes converts some of my songs so I can play them in my iPod.
So, I have all my songs still in WMA.format in a folder I created and I have all the same songs in my iTunes library. It's taking up a large amount of memory.
So, since I have those songs in my iTunes library, I've tried to delete the songs that were in the WMA.format. But, once I delete those songs, I cannot play that same song on iTunes. It states "The song______ could not be used because the original file could not be found."
So, do I have to keep the songs in WMA.format and my iTunes library or is there a way to delete the songs from the WMA.format and still have them play on my iTunes/iPod?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • A video clip that works fine in windows media player but not in Premiere

I have an AVI video clip file that I recorded from an old VHS tape many years back. The file plays just fine in Windows Media Player but when I import it into the latest version of Premiere Pro CS6 the video portion shows nothing but a green screen. The audio track plays fine. I've tried using Adobe Media Encoder to change it into a variety of different formats. Some don't even produce a file and some do but don't work any differently than the original within Premiere. Any suggestions?
    thanx a bunch,
    mike

  • Is there a Windows Media Player plugin for Windows 7?

Firefox tells me I need to manual install a plug-in for Windows Media Player but when it takes me to the plug-in it is only for Windows Vista and earlier Windows versions. Should I install that plug-in or just not bother, as for some reason the content plays anyway?

  • Windows Media Player viewing

I have just bought the Treo 700wx. Great piece of equiptment. I have a problem with videos I play using Windows Media Player. The videos will start playing and then about 3 seconds later the video stops for a second and then continues. It keeps doing this. Anyone with an answer?
Post relates to: Treo 700wx (Verizon)

As I understand it, this information comes from a database to which Windows Media Player connects when the disc is opened in WMP, which is why you see it so often on commercial DVDs.
It is possible to add this info to your disc in WMP and then upload it, but I don't know if it would work with multiple burned copies of the disc. I'm guessing it possibly would work if you registered a
replicated (mastered to DLT, then replicated at a replication facility, not burned) version of the disc.

  • Flip4Mac; Windows Media Player

What is Flip4Mac exactly? A colleague told me not to download and install it because it wipes out other applications. Is it safe to install Flip4Mac? If so, are there steps to follow?
Recently, I tried to watch a TV program on broadband. No go. A message window appeared saying I had to have Windows Media Player. When I clicked "download now", a second window appeared with a yellow triangle alert symbol and the message "This may have an application". Again, what does this mean? Is it safe to download and install WMP?

Flip4Mac enables Quicktime to play Windows Media files.
When I clicked "download now", a second window appeared with a yellow triangle alert symbol and the message "This may have an application". Again, what does this mean?
Exactly that! It gives you a chance to stop the download or install in case you were not expecting it to be an application. Just carry on.
These are the downloads and the settings you need in order to view/hear pretty much everything that the net can throw at you: The setup described below has proved repeatedly successful on both PPC and Intel macs, but nothing in life carries a guarantee!
Assuming you already run OS 10.4.9 or above and have Quicktime 7.2, and are using Safari 2 or 3, download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
    RealPlayer from http://uk.real.com/player/
Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
    Perian from http://perian.org/
    Adobe FlashPlayer from http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash
In Quicktime Preferences, under advanced, UNcheck Enable Flash, and under Mime settings/Miscellananeous only check Quicktime HTML (QHTM).
In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them).
Important: Now repair permissions and restart.
The world should now be your oyster!
You should also have the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.

  • I am unable to play video clips. When I click play, nothing happens. I have a feeling I am missing a plug in. Windows media player works fine.

Cannot play video clips. when I click. I might be missing a plug in but I am not sure. I have shockwave and flash installed.
