Roaming Profile are not stored completely

Hello NG
In our environment we work with NWClient 2 SP1 IR9, ZCM11 SP1a and Roaming
profile is activated by a ZCM policy.
Now we have the problem, that when a user logout from the workstation, the
roaming profile is not stored completely to the home profile. Strange is,
that the ntuser.dat has an updated times
The homedirectory where the roaming profiles should be stored is a NSS
volume.
On the workstation evenviewer i saw following interesting information.
Event ID 1509
Source \\?\C:\Users\MichelB\Favorites\Links
Target \\?\UNC\SERVER2$NOCSC$\HOMEL\USERS/MichelB\Windows NT 6.1 Workstation
Profile.V2\Favorites\Links
Error The system can not found the path
Source \\?\C:\Users\MichelB\Favorites
Target \\?\UNC\SERVER2$NOCSC$\HOMEL\USERS/MichelB\Windows NT 6.1 Workstation
Profile.V2\Favorites
Error The system can not found the path
etc. this happens for all folders in the profile path.
Then event ID 1534 is diplayed that says there was too many copy errors.....
And at last the Event ID 1504 that says that the roaming profile couldn't be
updated completely
I suppose that here the Novell Client has problems to write to the NSS
volume
Somebody can help me to solve this issue?

I use volatile accounts, [setting] using existing account or not doesn't make any difference.
I can demonstrate that clearing down local profiles (net user <username> /delete and rd c:\users\<username>) allows the user to log in again without any issues, but usually they can do this only once or twice before the profile blows out.
Our students are very mobile and a typical day will be 9.00-10.00 lessons, 10.00-10.30 LRC, 10.30-12.30 lessons (different class room) ........
This was identified in September when the students returned from break and we have had the issues for nearly 4 months.
Our machines are built via zen imaging, the client and agent are then installed with the appropriate enabling software for the machine (zoomtext/jaws/dragon/read&write).
Can anybody give me any pointers on this as my tech support and novell (via a SR) have not yet been able to pin point the problem and provide a fix.

  • 2012 R2 RDS - Your roaming profile was not completely synchronized - Event ID 1509 1504 - After installing Update 1

    In my deployment I have 2 brokers, and 3 session hosts. I finally installed Update 1 and all following updates available (the ones that were available about two weeks before). Also updated Forefront to v4.3 (SCCM managed).
    I have roaming TS profiles enabled with folder redirection and also policy set to "delete local copy of roaming profiles" after logout. Profile folders are on a network share (Server 2003). Things were working ok until Update 1 and rest of updates
    got installed.
    I started getting events 1509 and 1504 when users logoff and the screen displays "Your roaming profile was not completely synchronized" message briefly. The only file affected so far is ntuser.pol.
    There are two variations of the event, one claiming it cannot write the local server copy to fileshare, and the opposite, from file share to c:\users\username.
    ====
    Windows cannot copy file \\server\profileshare\username.V2\ntuser.pol to location C:\Users\username\ntuser.pol. This error may be caused by network problems or insufficient security rights.
     DETAIL - Access is denied.
    =====
    Windows cannot copy file C:\Users\username\ntuser.pol to location \\server\profileshare\username.V2\ntuser.pol. This error may be caused by network problems or insufficient security rights.
     DETAIL - Cannot create a file when that file already exists.
    ==========
    Permissions have not changed. The only thing changing is the Updates installed on the servers. I tried running with AV realtime protection off, no change. Ntuser.pol is already on the exclude list in Forefront.
    This is happening on my test server and 2 prd servers. Any ideas. I looked for related hotfixes but not coming up with anything.
    The whole reason for installing Update 1 was so that we can continue to receive security updates...

    Hi,
    Thanks for your comment.
    When a roaming profile user logs off, the NTuser.dat file is always updated on the roaming profile share. The corresponding NTuser.pol file is only updated if the timestamp of the local copy that was created at logon is newer than the copy found in the roaming
    profile share. A synchronization problem may occur if a user with a roaming profile logs on to multiple client computers at the same time. This can eventually cause policy settings to be applied incorrectly.
    For example, if the Group Policy loopback feature is applied on one of the client computers, the NTuser.dat file on the roaming profile share may contain loopback policy settings that are not present in the NTuser.pol file. If this problem occurs, the loopback
    policy settings that are targeted at one client computer may be unexpectedly applied to a user who logs on to a different client computer.
    So please check the permission or group policy which you have applied and also whether you are performing multiple connection at a time.

    Hope it helps!

  • Keep getting message pop up "Error reading/writing file  "com.apple.logic.pro.cs": Logical end-of-file reached during read operation," and "The Preferences are not loaded completely. Save them to "com.apple.logic.pro.cs" anyway?" Using Logic pro 8. ???

    Logic froze while I was working on something so I forced quit.  Now every time I open LOGIC a message pops up that says:
    "Error reading/writing file
    “com.apple.logic.pro.cs”:
    Logical end-of-file reached during read operation."
    The only button option is cancel so I press it and another message appears that says:
    "The Preferences are not loaded completely.
    Do not save them, as you would overwrite the Preferences file with incomplete data."
    Then when i close logic a box appears saying:
    "The Preferences are not loaded completely.
    Save them to "com.apple.logic.pro.cs" anyway?"
    There are 3 button options to press; ok, cancel or dont save.
    I press "don’t save" cuz I don't want to ruin anything.
    I found a discussion located here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/9564253#9564253 that says if I delete the file "com.apple.logic.pro.cs" it will resolve the problem.  If I do this will I loose or mess anything up at all, automation, saved channel strips customizations, saved effects, synth, or ultrabeat customizations etc? Or especially will I loose any work I've done?  I have hundreds pieces of music files I've created.  I'm scared to mess anything up with all the hours and months of work I've done.  Is there anyway to fix this without loosing anything?  I'm using Logic Pro 8.
    Thank you

    You can safely delete this file - its the preference file for control surface settings - you haven't said whether you're actually using a control surface or not, if so, you will have to set it up again. A new file will be created when you fire Logic up again, but of course it will contain default settings. If you have a complicated control surface setup, remember to keep a backup copy somewhere in case any future problems arise.
    Other than that, you really have nothing to be scared about - hopefully your problem is as simple as that and there isn't an underlying problem (a corrupt hard drive, for example). You seem concerned about losing work, so I guess you want to think about backing that up on a regular basis too. If you're saving your projects to your system drive, do get an external one for this. And also check that you have plent of free space on your system drive - you need to keep about a quarter or third of it free for your OS and programs to run properly (some temporarily stored files can be quite large).

    I've got this to work although I haven't figured out the root cause.
    My initial OSDMigrateAdditionalCaptureOptions were: /Hardlink /nocompress /uel:30 /config:%_SMSTSMDataPath%\Packages\%_OSDMigrateUsmtPackageID%\%Processor_Architecture%\config.xml"
    My OSDMigrateRestoreCaptureOptions were:  /Hardlink /nocompress /ue:*\* /ui:domain.local\*
    Since the restore was failing, I removed the domain name from the ui switch which magically caused the restore process to load the user profiles to the computer.
    My final OSDMigrateRestoreCapptureOptions which worked: /Hardlink /nocompress /ue:%computername%.
    Just to note /hardlink commands are not necessary when you are using MDT task sequence, but I put it in anyway and it seems ensure that I get consistent results.

  • Flex SDK 3.2 : Unmarshalling issue : SOAP objects are not deserialized completely

    Hi everybody !
    I have a strange problem with SOAP deserialization in flex 3.2, and I thought this forum will be the best place to get answers ...
    When I try to fetch some objects (like the ones shown below), the XMLDecoder does not deserialize all the properties.
    In this case, it stops at the property named "rating". After it, all other data are lost.
    I've used the flex builder debugger to locate the problem, and this lead me to the following method in the XMLDecoder class :
    getApplicableValues(parent:*, valueElements:XMLList, name:QName,context:DecodingContext, maxOccurs:uint):XMLList:
    State of the variables, before the "bug" :
    The strange behavior appears after the five first properties had been deserialized correctly.
    At this step : startIndex = 5, and the next property to unmarshall is "user" (according to the MExpertNotes object mapping)
    the valueElement's list contains the following elements :
    to simplify the notation, I will write only the position in the list and the xml tag name (see the complete soap response for more details at the end of this post)
    (position, fieldName)
    (0, ID) -> inherited from MotocycletteObjectImpl
    (1,comment)
    (2, noteValidation) (a Bean, never returned by our service -> set to null)
    (3,noteValidationID)
    (4,rating)
    (5,timeOfCreation) -> inherited from MotocycletteObjectImpl
    (6,user) (a Bean, never returned by our service -> set to null)
    (7,userExpert) (a Bean, never returned by our service -> set to null)
    (8,userExpertID)
    (9,userID)
    (10,version) -> inherited from MotocycletteObjectImpl
    when it enters the for loop, at the first iteration the valueElements[i].name is equals to "timeOfCreation" and the name parameter is equal to "user".
    so this test : if (name == null || valueElements[i].name() == name
    || ((name.uri == "" || name.uri == null)
    && name.localName == valueElements[i].name().localName))
    returns false. The skipAhead variable is set to false (and i don't understand why). It stops iterating over the valueElementList, and so, skips all other properties.
    Is this a bug ? Does a workaround exists ?
    This affects many of our objects.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Not sure what makes you think the Epson 7600 is a CMYK printer, but it isn't. You may be running a CMYK RIP attached to it, but the printer accepts RGB data, not CMYK. The only reason I can think of needing to profile in CMYK would be if you were using profiles generated for a press. I'm sure there may be others, but can't think of one off the top of my head.
    Well you can send either RGB or CMYK to the printer but you have to first setup the proper driver for either. Unless you are proofing (make my Epson simulate a press sheet), I can’t think of any reason to send it CMYK data. The limitation is the driver in terms of what you send it. With a 3rd party driver (might be a RIP, might not) it can be possible to send CMYK data to the Epson. Epson bundles the ColorBurst product for this purpose (press simulation, use of CMYK profiles).
    Since the Lightroom path is solely RGB, it can’t do anything with CMYK data. So the profiles are filtered out of the list. And don’t expect this to change anytime soon or ever. If CMYK is your game, well you need Photoshop or some other application to handle this data. And you’ll need another driver. So in context of this post, CMYK is simply not a possibility and that is why the profiles are not accessible.

  • Prompt Parameters are not stored

    Hello,
    Iu2019m using Desktop Intelligence 12.0.0.0  and I have a problem regarding prompts.
    Sometimes the values of the prompts are not stored. Sometimes they are stored an I don't know why.
    There will be a really large formula with ~40 prompts . It would be nice if Desktop Intelligence would store the entered values.
    The user should not enter all values again if he runs the report again. And/Or the user should have the possibility to change just the prompts which are needed to change.
    Which conditions must be fulfilled so that the values of the parameters are stored?
    Regards

    Hi Sarbhjeet,
    Thanks for your answer.
    Unfortunately it doesn't work. Now I use the following prompts in a filter:
    @Select(PR-Eigenschaften\Pnrstring) like CONCAT('%~1   2',CONCAT(@Prompt('MBV 01','A',{' '},mono,free,persistent) ,'3G%'))
    @Select(PR-Eigenschaften\Pnrstring) like CONCAT('%~1   2',CONCAT(@Prompt('MBV 02','A',{' '},mono,free,persistent) ,'3G%'))
    @Select(PR-Eigenschaften\Pnrstring) like CONCAT('%~1   2',CONCAT(@Prompt('MBV 03','A',{' '},mono,free,persistent) ,'3G%'))
    by the way:
    Is this a UDF (Un Document Feature)? Where can I learn more about the Syntax (e.g. the default value).
    I downloaded the "xi3_desktop_intelligence_access_and_analysis_guide_en.pdf" but there is no information about the extended syntax.
    Thanks

  • Image Colour Profiles are not being applied

    When I import images in to InDesign CC 2014 the embedded colour profiles are not being activated.
    Therefore images are looking flat and a bit washed out on screen.
    In order to apply the colour profile I have to right click on the image go down to Graphics and the colour settings and select the correct profile.
    In the InDesign colour settings menu I have Colour management policies set to Preserve Embedded Profiles on RGB and Preserve Numbers (ignore linked Profiles) for CMYK. However changing these to other options makes no difference, the profile still need to be activated on each image.
    I am working with RGB images that have the Adobe RGB 1998 profile embedded in them.
    I cannot figure out why this is happening!??

    Check your color settings.

    I get the common error "Could not initialize the application's security component" when I startup Firefox.
    I tried this manual: http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/couldnt-initialize-applications-security-component
    I have enough space left, i have read/edit/write-rights, created a new firefox profile and also reset all the settings, nothing works.
    BUT I dont have a cert8.db File in my %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles
    What can I do?
    Like I said in my description, its about Users that are logged in with a Roaming-Profile. Every User has this problems, it doesn't matter if or without Admin-Rights.
    Also this problem exists since Firefox 4.0.0, the last working Version was 3.6.13 I guess.

    You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:
    *Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
    Try to remove or rename secmod.db (secmod.db.old) in the Firefox profile folder.
    If that didn't help then also rename the cert8.db file to cert8.db.old or delete the cert8.db file to remove intermediate certificates that Firefox has stored.
    If that helped to solve the problem then you can remove the renamed cert8.db.old file.<br />
    Otherwise you can rename (or copy) the cert8.db.old file to cert8.db to restore the previous intermediate certificates.<br />
    Firefox will automatically store intermediate certificates when you visit websites that send such a certificate.
    Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
    Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    *Firefox 25: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
    Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
    *Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
    Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    *(32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
    *(64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"
    *It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

    Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
    If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.

  • Locally cached copy of roaming profiles are being created with username.domainname.00x suffix

    First off let me give some background as to where we've come from and how we got to where we are today.  In my organazation we initially setup a Win 2k3 domain with roaming profiles.  The roaming profiles worked without a problem for about 6 years.  We migrated to a Windows 2k8 domain (non-2008 native mode) about two years ago.  Profiles have been working fine.  We recently did a rollout of 80% of our client machines with newly leased machines.  Once we did this, the profile issues have been...interesting to say the least.  I've been seeing a couple machines having issues loading their profiles correctly.  The users will complain of not being able to use MS Outlook, or they don't have their proper desktop icons on their desktop.  These erros can present themselves when the user changes their domain acct. password (per our security policey) or it may happen just out of the blue.  The user may be working perfectly fine on Monday, and then log off and on Tuesday when they login to their computer, the user will have these problems.  When this is reported to me, I login the computer that is having the issue and I look at the C:\Documents and Settings folder and I'll see sometimes multiple bogus profiles.  The profiles have a naming convention of %username%.%domainname%.00X .  The .00X will increment up 1 with each bogus profile.  Each of these bogus profiles will have only the local settings folder in them.  In order to fix this problem, we typically delete all the local profiles and let the computer pull the server copy back down.  Can someone please shed some light on this for me.  Thanks.

    I have the exact same issue. All my machines are SP3 as well. I have tried UPHClean and it makes no difference. It's completely random when the username.domain.000 accounts start appearing and accounts become corrupt causing the same issue with outlook or a different set of desktop icons. After almost 3 months of having to reset user profiles (we have 1700 AD accounts and 3 IT guys), here's what I've found to this point.
    WINLOGON.EXE is the culprit. UPHClean doesn't appear to work well with SP3 or this particular version of WINLOGON. WINLOGON.EXE is locking (handle) the profile directory itself.
    7F8: File  (RW-)   C:\Documents and Settings\(User Directory)
    You cannot even run a batch script or something to "restart" winlogon to unlock the folder because it's a system process. When the user logs back in, the pc sees there is already a user profile folder there so it creates a new one with the domain name, rinse and repeat and you get:
    Username
    Username.Domain
    Username.Domain.000
    Username.Domain.001
    These will go on forever unless you use DELPROF in your GPO as a Computer/Windows/Startup script to remove all "USER ONLY" profiles from the docs and settings folder. This works great other than now, users seem to randomly loose their favorites. This is about the most discussed roaming profile issue on the internet but not a single person nor group of persons has created a 100% working fix for it. It's been a massive headache for me and my guys and I know thousands of other IT guys have or are still struggling with it.
    PLEASE Microsoft, fix this winlogon issue so it will release the user profile directory when the user logs out. PLEASE.

  • Roaming profiles did not work with Novell client

    I've Problems with roaming profiles.
    It is perhaps not a Novell problem but anything with windows rights?
    We use ZCM11: (Server: SLES11 SP1)
    Client new PC with a freshly installed Windows7, all updates.
    (Only Turn on file and printer sharing, anything else default, no virusscanner)
    The pre-agent has been installed and then the the Novell Client 2SP1 IR7
    The PC gets a "Dynamic Local User Policy" with the settings:
    - Use the credentials of the user source
    - (Manage existing user account - but we have none there)
    - Volatile user (with no cache, meaning that the user is immediately deleted ... We have also tested with cache.)
    - e-dir user should be only member of Users
    The users from edir get a Roaming Profile Policy with:
    - Store user profile in user's Home Directory. (which is on the OES/SLES server)
    ---- results ----
    If the user has no centrally stored profile, then he can log on but just once!
    (if "Enable Volatile User cache" also several times to the same PC)
    If the user already has a stored profile, he can not log on Error: "The Group Policy client service failed the logon Access is denied"
    In my view, the following happens. W7 create the user locally and want's put in the settings from a central profile in the local
    Profile and can not do that.
    Only when no "central profile" is there in the homedir, or if this profile does not contain the file ntuser.dat, the user can log in locally.
    However, no files are used from te saved profile, for instance from the saved desktop.
    I can not imagine that anyone around the world with ZCM11 on a SLES/OES Server don't use the Novell client and raoming profiles
    It must therefore give a simple trick to solve the problem.
    But which one? Can some one here help me?
