Roaming with Multiple AE's connected to router.

I can't find info on  my particular wireless layout.  I have three Airport Extremes connected to the LAN.  Each AE has a unique static IP LAN address.  NAT and DHCP is handled by the router.  What I am trying to do is set up a roaming wireless network.  I saw a thread on doing this with one AE connected to the WAN and the other AE's connected to it (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4260), but this would be difficult to implement here.  I seem to remember reading that what I am trying to do can be done by setting each AE to 'Create a Wireless Network', and giving each the same Wireless Network Name, and password, which is what I am doing now.  This works, but is extremely slow.  Is there a better way to implement roaming, using my current AE wiring scheme; i.e. with each AE connect to the router?

I thought I'd give your suggestion a try, but I'm in trouble.  Network is down and I can't figure out where I went wrong.  Can you give me a link for manual setup of an airport extreme wds network from scratch?
I don't have such a link. A Google search can possible peace together all the info you need. Apple does provides guides in PDF format though. Try the link below.
http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/Apple_AirPort_Networks_Early2009.pdf
The newer 802.11n routers running the latest firmware don't use the WDS terminology anymore. They just use 'Create a wireless network' for the main router and 'Extend a wireless network' for the routers that connect to the main router if you are doing it all wirelessly.
See this link for screen shots: https://discussions.apple.com/message/17475933#17475933
I've managed to get wireless working for the main AE which is connected directly to the cable modem, but that's about it.  I have a static WAN address (actually I have 5, but that's another story).  The terminology is a bit different than I am use to. On the 'Internet Settings'  I assume 'IP address' is the static WAN address of the AE and 'Router Address' is the WAN  gateway address.  Where do I give the AE a LAN gateway address?  Half the stuff on my network uses static addressing so I need to establish a LAN gateway address.
You have a small subnet and static addresses. Nice! I used to have one of those.
You should be aware that Apple's AirPort routers are designed for a single static IP address at most. They are residential routers, not meant for a business setup as your service appears to be. If you can live with only using one of the five addresses you have available then the AirPort router will work for you. You can designate one of your LAN addresses as the default route for use with a server.
If you require being able to use more than one of the static addresses you have available to create static routes to servers on your LAN then you'll need a business class router that can do Multi-NAT. Maybe the router you were using is more suited to this.
I've set the 'main' AE to provide both NAT and DHCP.  I plugged the other two AE's into it, leaving them in bridge mode.  Airport utility incorretly shows all three AE's connected directly to the internet.  Lastly, the Airport Utility shows the internet status as disconnected, which also isn't true.

  • One shared mailbox with multiple distribution groups connected and the sent items folder - how to configure?

    Hi!
I have been struggling for a while now with the following issue.
    For starters:
We are using exchange 2010 in combination with outlook 2013 on client computers.
Cause of the limitations concerning the number of mailboxes in outlook im looking for a solution to receive and reply
to multiple aliasses. So i did the following:
    1. Configured one shared mailbox.
    2. Configured multiple distribution groups
    3.  made the shared mailbox a member of the distribution groups
    4. Configured full access and send as permissions for myself on the shared mailbox ( testing )
    5. Gave send as permissions to the shared mailbox in Active directory.
    6.  Logged in to OWA to setup rules for the shared mailbox.
I now receive emails from all connected distribution groups in the shared mailbox and also in the right folder.
I do however have to select the proper from address when i reply to an email.
the email sent by the main SMTP of the shared mailbox is placed into the sent folder of the shared mailbox.
I setup the senddelagate blabla in register.....
When i sent an email as one of the connected distribution groups it fails to put the sent item in the sent items folder of the shared mailbox. The email is sent using the proper address but placed in the sent folder of my main account.
I want this emails to end up in the sent items folder of the shared mailbox. Or even better, in a sent items folder for each of the addresses.
    Any suggestions ?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hi,
    As what
Rajkumar says, sending as a shared mailbox(full access permission) will put the email in the sent item of shared mailbox. But it cannot be located in the “sent item” of a distribution group. Because
it is a distribution group instead of a enabled user mailbox.
According to your further description, I understand that the reason why you configure that is some users reached the
limitation about the number of Exchange accounts you can include in the same Outlook profile. Is it rights? If I misunderstand, please point it out.
By default, user can only add 10 Exchange accounts to the same profile. You can customize the limit to the number Exchange accounts in the same profile using the following registry data:
    Key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\policies\Microsoft\exchange
    DWORD: MaxNumExchange
Value: integer value starting at 1 (default = 10 if DWORD is missing)

    Hope it helps.

  • Having trouble with multiple wireless users on WRT54G router

Basically, there are 3 of us wirelessly sharing the internet via a linksys WRT54G router. I have our router password-protected, to avoid randoms stealing out broadband. I am a Mac user (3 year old computer), the other 2 are on PC laptops.
At the moment, I have an excellent internet connection, and it's working just fine. However, if my room mate connects with their laptop (a fairly new model), my internet connection stops working. I still have a signal, but it just really slows down/often stops working entirely. It's  as if their wireless connection takes priority and ignores mine (essentially nullifying the router's purpose).
Has anyone come across a problem like this before? Your assistance would be super helpful and appreciated.

Hi, perhaps you may try the following steps to improve the performance of your router:
    • Upgrade the router’s firmware
    • Reset the router after the firmware upgrade
    • Optimize the router’s wireless settings
    • Use a wifi analyzer like http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider/ to set a non overlapping channel to the router
    • Relocate the router on a more central location for better wireless coverage
    • Avoid placing the router on a glass or metallic surface

  • Quicktime .mov containers with multiple tracks not working on iPhone

    Hello,
I have several .mov files (containers) that all include H.264 mp4 video tracks and AAC sound tracks.
Some of the .mov files only include one video track and one sound track, but some contain multiple, as I have joined a few clips together into one container. Each .mov file was saved as a Standalone file, so no reference files are needed.
All of them play perfectly in Quicktime and iTunes and all sync with both AppleTV and my iPhone. They also play perfectly in AppleTV, but my iPhone only plays files with a single video and audio track. If the .mov container includes more than one video track, the iPhone will play the first track and then freeze when it should transition to the next track. (Is this a known iPhone bug?)
My question is: Is there a way to merge video tracks and sound tracks within a .mov container without having to re-encode/export the file to an iPhone format?
The reason I do not want to export everything to an iPhone format is because I already tried that, and the total size of all the exported .m4v files is around 10 GB but the size of the .mov files is only 5.6 GB, yet I do not see any difference in quality. And my iPhone is only 8 GB, so I can't sync all of the files if I use the iPhone format.
I've also tried several different settings with iSquint, but the smallest I can get the files down to is 7.4 GB without compromising the quality, and that leaves very little space left on the iPhone.
Note: The iPhone is a 2G phone with the latest firmware.

I'm having the exact same issue with my iphone 4s.. I have a belkin wireless router with multiple other devices connecting effortlessly every time. I have my old iphone 3G, and ipod touch, and 2 laptops connecting with no issues. I am receiving the same error message as you. Lame.. If this doesn't resolve itself soon, I am returning the iphone 4s.

  • Onplus with multiple VLAN

    Hi,
i am trying to set the network agent N100 on a trunk port on a switch (2960) without success regarding dhcp???
The problem is that the agent is not getting any ip address from a dhcp pool from a Cisco 1841 router acting as DHCP server. The topology is like this:
    Router---------------------------------------------------------------------Switch--------------------------------------------------------------------On100
             fa0/0
             fa0/0.10
             fa0/0.20
The router is on the stick with subinterfaces. Ports connecting the router and On100 on the switch are 802.1q trunk ports. I also made a simulation of this topology on the GNS3 and with wireshark i can see  that dhcp discover are comming inbound fa0/0 but when i type the command:
R#show ip dhcp server statistics there are no received dhcp discover packets???It's very strange.
Did any one have experience with multiple vlan topology?
    Thanks

    Delo,
Take a look at the document link below.  Beginning on page 3 contains a sample configuration.  I would recommend reading the entire document to get your arms around the VLAN discovery functionality.  I can appreciate that when reading some of the documentation it can be confusing and lead you to believe that it can discover additional networks using Layer 3 routing.  That said, the one thing to keep in consideration is that OnPlus/ON100, other than the Network Scanning functionality, will not traverse Layer 3 boundaries to do additional discovery/monitoring.  You can manually add devices that are only accessible via Layer 3 and select to do some monitoring on those devices however they must be added manually and it will not attempt to access those devices via SSH/Telnet or SNMP.  As such, it won't do functions like backing up configurations.
OnPlus autodiscovery will only use Layer 2 and that is why you would need the VLAN Trunking with DHCP in each VLAN or to SPAN a switch port.  With VLAN trunking the ON100 will have an IP in the other VLAN and be able to discover devices on that now "local LAN".  With port spanning, the ON100 would discover based on packets it receives.  It can appear a little confusing but as long as  you keep in mind that the ON100 won't discover over a Layer 3, that will help to clarify some of the confusion.

  • RV320 Connecting With Multiple fixed IP's

Hope someone can help me with this be warned I'm no expert.
We have 2 BT business broadband lines, 1 with a single fixed address and 1
with multiple fixed addresses both connected using Draytek Vigor 120's.
The line with the single fixed address works fine using PPPOE login from the RV320 as BT auto allocate the fixed IP.
What I can't work out is how to login to the line with the multiple IP's and set the Fixed IP as It doesn't seem to be auto allocated.
If I login using PPPOE I just get a dynamic allocated address.
If I set the connection as fixed IP there's no login options so doesn't connect.
I will soon need to use some of the fixed IPs so any help please.
    regards Mark

I have a connection similar to your PPPoE with multiple fixed addresses and it works fine on a RV320.  When I setup the WAN port to connect, the ISP assigns a specific fixed address to the WAN to route all the other IPs through.  It would almost have to be that way since the WAN port is typically not on the same subnet as the addresses that are routed.  Even if the RV320 does see them as on the same subnet it will work either way.
I would start by resetting the 320 to factory default and run through the wizard.  The main thing is to enter the PPPoE info in the WAN settings and the 320 should dial in and connect to your ISP.  Then in order to use the fixed IPs, I would use One-to-One NAT to map each public IP to the corresponding private IP.  The internet sees those machines as physically having the public address but they can be protected by the firewall access rules.
I have done this on several Cisco routers, including the RV320, and it worked fine.  IF you are wanting to assign the public addresses to the machines by hard coding them with the address, that is another matter.  The 320 will do that as well but it is a little trickier.

  • How to connect to Xbox Live with the Actiontek GT704-WGB wireless router

If the title got you here, then you are probably a Verizon DSL customer who is trying to connect your Xbox to Xbox Live with the Actiontek GT704-WGB wireless router and are getting nothing but errors saying, "your NAT is set too high", or, "Your MTU setting is too low", etc.  Well, after many calls to Xbox support, Actiontek support, and Verizon support, I finally came up with the solution myself.
All that is needed is a little techie know-how about router settings and you'll do just fine!  However, if you are uncomfortable with doing it yourself (and it is really really easy to do!) then you can call Verizon support and have a tech support rep remotely conntect to your PC and make the changes for you: however, you have to speak with someone in advanced tech support and to do that you have to agree to a 1 year support contract to the tune of $14.95 per month in order for them to do it!  Scam???  You be the judge!
So, here are the steps to take to get it working and by the way, YOU CAN NOT GET THE XBOX TO CONNECT TO THIS ROUTER WIRELESSLY!!  YOU MUST CONNECT YOUR XBOX TO THE ROUTER WITH AN ETHERNET CABLE IN ORDER FOR THIS TO WORK!!!  If you don't heed this warning, you will unfortunatly go through all the steps below, only to find that you get the same errors but, ethernet is faster than wireless so it's better!....right?.....right?   (hears crickets chirping)....right?  Oh well, I tried!  Also, you must have your Xbox on in order to change the router settings (which you'll see why later) Anyway, here's the steps:
    1) On your PC, open a browser window and type in the address bar:  192.168.1.1 and press enter.
    2) You will then see the interface on which you will make changes to the router's settings.  If at any time you are prompted for a username and password (which should happen right after you press enter) the defaults are: username: admin password: password.  If you have changed these, enter what you changed them to.
3)Click on the icon on the top labelled "Advanced Setup"
4)In the left section, click "WAN IP Address"
5)At the warning screen, click "yes"
6)Scroll down until you see "MTU setting" and enter 1370.  NOTElease don't be tempted to either enter 1500 or leaving it at 1500 (which is the default) because you might know that 1500 is the maximum at which this can be set which is TOO HIGH AND WILL NOT WORK!  Trust me and enter 1370 and then click on "apply"
7)Click on the top icon labelled "Security"
8)In the left column, click on "applications".  This is where we are going to open the 3 ports that Xbox Live uses to communicate with your Xbox.
9)In the drop down box labelled "PC Name" select "Xbox 360". This is why you had to have your console on and connected cuz if you didn't, it would not show up on the drop down list!
10)Under "category" click on the bubble next to "user"
11)Click on "New" which is one of the blue buttons near the bottom.
12)As for the rule name, I entered "Xbox" but you can put whatever you want but I'd use that so you know it's the ports you opened for the console.
13)For protocol, select TCP. (Yes you will also open the same ports for UDP but for some reason if you select TCP.UDP instead of doing them seperatly it doesn't work.....I dunno why!?
14)For all 3 "Port start", "Port End", and "Port Map Start" put the # 80.
    15)Click "apply"
16)Now, select UDP and put the same port # 80 and again click "apply"
17)Repeat steps 13 through 16 except with the numbers 3074 and 53, clicking apply after each one.  What you should have now on the bottom are a list of all the ports you opened, one TCP and one UDP for each number totalling 6 entries.
18)Click "back" to return to the Applications screen.
19)If you have to, select Xbox 360 for PC name, and click the bubble next to "user" and you'll now see the entry called "Xbox" or whatever you called it.
20)Click that entry to highlight it and then click the blue "add" button to the left and then click "apply" at the bottom.
21)Close the browser screen and turn off your PC and Xbox and any other hardware connected to the router.
22)Turn the router off and unplug it and wait about 5 minutes.  It can take this long for any residual current in the router to dissapate and for the NAT table to clear itself.
23)Turn on the router and wait for the internet light to come on green meaning the router has booted and has an internet connection.
24)Turn on the Xbox AND ONLY THE XBOX!
25)There is no need to go into network setting as when the Xbox is connected by ethernet, it automatically configures and connects intself.  You can, however go into network settings and perform a connection test but this to is not necessary.
You now should be able to connect to Xbox Live!  If not, you've done something wrong and must either go through all the steps again or let Verizon do it for you (for a fee that is).

I followed jtktlw's instructions to the letter.  Problem was I had already enabled UPnP before doing so.  Afterward I disabled UPnP and rebooted....no change.  I reset the MTU to 1500...boom, it works.  Seems for me all I needed was to open the right ports to get it to work.

  • Frustrated - Can't connect to router with laptop after disconnect, other devices work fine.

I have a RevI Actiontec router with dual antennas(not sure of firmware as I am not at home). My wife can be on her laptop all day, then when I come home with my IPad, it make her lose connection to the router. The router still connects to my iPhone 4 and iPad (both with iOS 6.0.1), but she is unable to connect to router at all. Everything continues to function normally on my Apple devices, so we are still connected to the internet. I have a laptop as well, and when this is happening, both of the laptops stop connecting, but the apple devices and our Toshiba TV and BluRay players continue to function normally. As a temp fix, I disconnect internet from my iPad and restart the router. It works until we try to run both at the same time.
I am mildly computer literate, though I know little about network setups beyond security, MAC filtering, and other slightly advanced setup stuff.
This is really frustrating and seems to be getting worse. We used it like this in our new house for several months before this started happening.

Also check to make sure neither of the devices are set to use a static IP address.

After configuring LDAP connectivity through the Admin application on a machine with multiple proxy instances I end up with:

  • DSD route settlement with multiple sales are

    Hi folks,
I have looked in this forum for an answer for my problem but haven't found any, so i am creating this new thread.
Well i am trying to settle a shipment in /DSD/DE_ENTRY transaction with multiple sales area in it, example:
    Visit 1 - Sales Org(D002) Distribution channel(GN) Division(GA)
    Visit 2 - Sales Org(D002) Distribution channel(GN) Division(GB)
    Visit 3 - Sales Org(D017) Distribution channel(17) Division(D1)
The problem i get is that when i settle the shipment he mixes up the sales area in the visits, so far, allways in visit 3 where he puts up D002, 17, D1, giving the error of non existent sales area when trying to create the order(he doesn't mix up for all orders, only for some ones in the visit).
Another strange fact is that i made 3 shipments with same data, and in all 3, he mixed up for different documents, in 1 he created 2 documents fine, in other one only 1, making me believe that he "randomly" atributes the sales area.
What i need is to "manipulate" or have a solution for standard doesn't mix up the sales area, and atribute the correct sales area to the orders to create based on the sales are in the visit.
    Best Regards.

Thanks for the link, it's more or less the functionality that I'm looking for but the issue with BW is that I need to do the Settlement at the moment that routes are arriving "on line" and with BW I need wait the load to BW system. A lot of routes are arriving frequently.
¿Do you know a R3 functionality for this? or ¿do you know a "Shipments settlement" who has all Shipments of the route? in order to use same transaction that is by transport.
    Thank's a lot

  • Dynamic routing for a Business Service with multiple operations

I have two business services with multiple operations. Business service A (bsA) has operations OpA1 and OpA2. Business service B (bsB) has operations OpB1 and OpB2.
Depending on incoming Proxy message and operation, I have to do one of the following
    1. If someValue = A and operation= Op1 then invoke operation opA1 of bsA
    2. If someValue = B and operation= Op1 then invoke operation opB1 of bsB
    3. If someValue = C and operation= Op1 then invoke operation opA1 of bsA AND* operation opB1 of bsB and return aggregate data of both invocations
    1. If someValue = A and operation= Op2 then invoke operation opA2 of bsA
    2. If someValue = B and operation= Op2 then invoke operation opB2 of bsB
    3. If someValue = C and operation= Op2 then invoke operation opA2 of bsA AND* operation opB2 of bsB and return aggregate data of both invocations
Using a dynamic route node or dynamic routing options, I am able to achieve cases 1, 2, 4, and 5.
But for cases 3 & 6, I can not use a route node. When I use a Service call out instead, then I am forced to create a Operational branch but that does not seem like the best design since for every new operation added to the business services, I have to add a new branch to the Operational branch and redo all the functionality for that branch.
Basically, I am looking to achieve the functionality of the Route node ( no need to specify the operation ).
Any thoughts/ideas on what the best design would be?
    thanks

For cases 3 & 6, why don't you route to another proxy service where you can simple do two service callouts, merge output data somehow and return them to the first proxy?
If you look for "special route feature", that could possibly call two services for a single message, I'm afraid you won't succeed.

  • I have a problem with using MacBook Pro as wifi router when connected to ethernet

I have a problem with using MacBook Pro as wifi router when connected to ethernet. The Airport icon changes to show a laptop inside, my iPad shows connected (I think) but Safari will not operate. I tried pinging my iPad, it seems to see the iPad, but no connection to Safari or to other apps such as Good on the iPad. I have read many posting and tried repeatedly via Sharing in Systems Preferences, but no luck. Suggestions to fix, or is this a Lion problem?

Usually this is a problem related to the domain name server address. If you open Network preferences, select your Ethernet port then click on the Advanced button then on the DNS tab. You will likely see an entry like 10.0.1.1 already listed. Click on the Add [-] button and enter 208.67.222.222 then click on the OK button and then on the Apply button.  See if this helps.
if it does not help then repeat the above but with the Airport port.

  • WRT160N v3: Cannot connect to router setup web page with current Firefox or IE

Every time I try to connect to the admin page of my router, I get "The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading."  This happens with FIrefox 11, and started when I upgraded to 8 or 9.  A machine running FF 3.6 does not exhibit this problem; I get right in.  What IE 9 says is "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" (after complaining about the expired certificate).
I ran Wireshark to see if I could learn anything, but all I could figure out was this:
    https handshake was OK.
First TLS packet is received by router, which then immediately issues a reset and ends the connection.  I don't know why.
Has anyone seen this? or have I got a screwed up configuration (or router)?
    Solved!

I'm not sure what this has to do with my problem; my difficulty is only in trying to talk to the router configuration page.  Everything else works just fine.
    ~~ Tools > Options
~~ Advanced (tab) -> Network (tab) > "Setting"
~~ (X) Auto-detect proxy setting for this network
I have "use system proxy settings".  Since this is a home network and I'm not using a software proxy on my machine, I know there is nothing between me and the router.
Second, let me know if you have enabled 'https' in the router management page. What is the IP address on the computer when connected to the router. To check the IP address that you are getting from the Router... You can check the IP address in the following manner:
    # Click on Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Command Prompt.
    # A black pop up box should come up, type: "ipconfig /all" …
This is not going the right direction, but to satisfy your curiosity:
       IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 10.244.122.142(Preferred)
       Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0
       Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 10.244.122.1
       DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 10.244.122.1
These are correct. (Since my telco DSL has me behind its own NAT router and has assigned my modem address 192.168.1.2, so I could not use Cisco/Linksys's manufacturer default address settings.)
There check the IP address and Default Gateway under LAN….
If it provides the valid IP address then try to connect the router to a different computer and then try to open the router setup page...
I have a linux virtual host (thanks to VMware) now running Firefox 5, and it can talk to the router setup page just fine, once I accept and save the invalid certificate the router presents, at https://10.244.122.1.  So I conclude the problem is to do with the later version of Firefox (currently 11, but I had this problem with 10 and maybe with 8 and 9).
