my icloud account keeps telling me that my user name or password for icloud is incorrect but it works for downloading apps etc and joining this forum

Accessing the itunes store and joining this forum are different accounts than an icloud account, so it's not necessarily true that your ID for icloud is the same as for itunes.
Did you set up an icloud account?

I get the message "Your Apple ID has been disabled." when I try to download to my iPad a subscription paid magazine (The Economist) from the App Store. For what it's worth, the same Apple ID was accepted when I joined this Discussion Group.  What must I do to get my ID enabled?  I have been unable to find any explicit instructions online.  Thank you.

  • I'm joining this forum for a lack of other options.

I love the phone we have (my wife's) it's a continium. So here's the story and I'll try to keep it as brief as I can. On Sept-2 2011 my wife's phone (at that time was a LG chocolate) locked up and we couldn't do anything with it not even turn it off so I removed the battery and it still would freeze. Took it to the verizon store and they said looks like you need a "new" phone for they couldn't make the LG work either. dissappointied we bought the Continium. This is where it gets interesting. Before Sept-2 we had full signal strength when we brought the new phone home we couldn't even hold a call, took several call attempts to complete a call, although...we did have 3G coverage but no "voice" we had a max of 1 bar (remember we had full strength prior). I placed a service call and was told..well looks like there are some things going on out there we'll turn the ticket over to the appropriate technicians. They called me about three days later and said the tech had "re-aimed" the antennas...ha...I live less than one one and a half miles from Tower site #5825 and the antennas can't be re-aimed I can see them they are not on a rotor. plus I'm a "HAM" radio operator I know a little about these things.  So I called three more times and so far I'm unhappy with "service" from Verizon I just want my signal to go back to what it was prior to Sept-2-2011. I fluxuate from -96db to -100db for signal strength. When I asked the tech on the phone what he felt was acceptable he replied "oh...-60db would be good that's about what we get here in our office using the wifi. well..I'm a ways from that...so my issue is my wifes voice is chopped like a bad sat signal on dish network or direct tv..most times I can't understand her. It's frustating.
Does anyone have a techniqe for getting through to the service team that there is something going on at the tower site?? I'm running out of patience.
    Thanks!

    Hi kc8jvh,
I am sorry to learn that your wireless signal is different with your new Continuum phone and is weaker than the signal you received with your previous phone. According to your post you have called our customer service department and the issue was escalated to our technical support department. While our technical support department will do everything possible to resolve your signal concerns please keep in mind that different devices do have different reception capabilities and regardless of any technical adjustments the signal may not improve for your current phone while indoors.
I trust that you have reprogrammed the phone as suggested by demmo86rt by dialing *228 option 2 as this process may improve your phone's signal reception.
Since we are not able to guarantee indoor service due to multiple factors that may interfere with a wireless signal, the use of a Network Extender has been an effective resolution for other customers experiencing indoor service issues. I would recommend considering acquiring the Network Extender to resolve your indoor service concerns.

  • Can't find search function for this forum?

Am I blind or something, or is this site working as well as soundtrack pro? Where is the search bar?

    I agree!
I've just joined this forum to look for specific answers, and searching is the first and +most necessary+ thing I want to do...
How is not having this feature improving the performance of the forum? Is the hope that Apple will put vast numbers of users off by being annoyingly non-functional and nonsensical?!!

  • Poll: Would you like Nokia to watch this forum?

Hi there, E-series fans. I've put up a poll regarding the subject above in the N-series forum. If you're interested, take a look and give your opinion.

You can be sure that Nokia is using this forum as a great fishing pond. Nokia can use this information without any obligation. If theire is a great topic about e.g. Nokia Messaging, and they see that a great deal of users have problems with NM, they will sure take action, because it's in their own interest. But changes that have to be made must be well tested before a firmware update. But I understand your point of view. This is an issue with many big companies.

  • Welcome to this forum on "Core J2EE Patterns" by the Sun Java Center

Welcome to this forum on Core J2EE Patterns by the Sun Java Center!
    CONTEXT:
This forum is intended for discussing the patterns from the Sun Java Center J2EE Pattern Catalog and other topics discussed in our book, Core J2EE Patterns.
We, the authors of the book, welcome you to this forum.
    WHO WE ARE:
We are Enterprise Java Architects from the Sun Java Center (SJC), which is the Java consulting organization of Sun Microsystems. We are a world-wide group of architects focusing on all consulting related to Java technologies.
Visit our web-site for more information on SJC:
    http://www.sun.com/service/sunps/jdc/index.html
    BACKGROUND:
Over the last few years, we at SJC have worked with our customers in architecting, designing, and implementing solutions on the J2EE platform. We have worked on documenting the J2EE patterns for over two years and released the patterns for public review in Beta form via the Java Developer Connection in May, 2001.
The beta version of the patterns is available online as The Sun Java Center J2EE Pattern Catalog at:
    http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/technicalArticles/J2EE/patterns/
Subsequent to the release, we received great feedback and comments from hundreds of reviewers. We then worked towards incorporating the feedback into the pattern documentation. One of the common comments was about the lack of code examples in the online documentation. The latest pattern documentation provides many code examples and incorporates all the feedback received so far.
    BOOK INFORMATION:
Core J2EE Patterns, the book, was released at JavaOne 2001 during June 4-9, and will be available in stores around the end of June 2001.
The book includes the complete updated Sun Java Center J2EE Pattern Catalog with 15 patterns covering these J2EE technologies: Java Server Pages (JSP), Servlets, Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB), and Java Message Service (JMS). In addition to the J2EE Pattern Catalog, the book also provides other chapters that discuss design considerations,
bad practices, and J2EE Refactorings. Example code is included for all patterns and strategies.
If you wish to view the complete table of contents or order the book, please visit one of the following online bookstores:

    COMMUNITY:
The online community for discussing the patterns included in our book Core J2EE Patterns has grown over the past year, since our first presentation at JavaOne 2000. This community is supported by our LISTSERV and is available for public participation at:
    http://archives.java.sun.com/j2eepatterns-interest.html
You can view the past discussions on this list at the above URL.
    FORUM LOGISTICS:
John and Dan are on the east coast and Deepak is on the west coast. We will be tuned into the forum and answering the messages periodically between June 19 and June 25, 2001. If you want to discuss the J2EE Patterns after June 25, you are invited to join the aforementioned J2EE Patterns Interest list.

    Rajakannan,
There are numerous ways to implement a templating mechanism in support of the composite view pattern, included in the catalog as a presentation-tier pattern.
The goal is to avoid simply having monolithic views with all the formatting code embedded directly withing the view. If we have common subviews that are shared across several or more views then we end up with a copy-and-paste type of reuse...undesirable. So, modularity is one issue. Another major force when considering the Composite View pattern is that we may want to manage the layout of our pages and the content of our pages separately. We may have some logical regions defined, such as a search panel and main body, and a subview that plugs into those logical regions that map to a physical page (ie: x.jsp and y.jsp). We may then want to vary one independent of the other...ie: we may want to modify the layout of the page w/o changing the content and we may want to vary the content w/o touching the layout.
There are a number of implementation strategies that can be used to implement the Composite View pattern, ranging from relatively simple to much more sophisticated. We describe each in our book and include source code examples.
The example in the book that allows for supporting all the issues described above is implemented using the "Custom Tag View Management Strategy" and uses a tag library written by David Geary, that supports the Composite View pattern. The library is also included in David's new book, Adv. JavaServer Pages, Prentice Hall, 2001.
Again, it's simply one implementation and, as you mention, there are many different ways to implement this strategy.
    Thanks for your question,
    Dan

  • Why does this forum perform much slower than form forum in metalink?

I feel strongly that this forum performs much slower than the form forum in metalink where there are even more active and more issues created there.
I don't know why Oracle creates two form forum, which one is faster and another one is slower.
What is the difference b/w them besides here is jsp pages and over there is plsql pages?

Oracle certainly allows you to have users that do not have roles. Or users that don't have any system privileges. Or users that don't have any object privileges.
If you want the query to return a row for every row in DBA_USERS, you would need to outer join all the other tables to DBA_USERS.

  • How do we stop the flame wars that diminish this forum?

Some Internet venues have moderators whose job it is to monitor and remove defamatory content or content inappropriate to the subject.
Wikipedia, for example, lets anyone update their content, but vandals are cleaned up after and locked out.
The OTN database forums seem to have gotten several flame wars lately that do not contribute to the dissemination of information or knowledge germane the forum.
Does/should OTN forums have moderators who perform this housekeeping chore?

Surely, when someone clicks the little yellow triangle next to a post, your application code is smart enough to make a note of the unique ID of the post being complained about?
I don't quite see why any particular "combing" effort is needed. Someone complains about post ID 3746238746283. You read the words of that post. If you think they violate the terms & conditions, you delete post 3746238746283. Job done. The whole point was that you shouldn't be "combing through" threads at all, on the lookout for abuse that someone might have overlooked in their rush to complain, but simply responding to specific complaints about specific posts. And if you get fed up at a thread generating a whole lot of complaints, you simply lock the thread from any further additions.
Incidentally, I don't recall seeing in the terms and conditions that "posts have to be on-topic", only that they must not defame, harass or annoy or be a form of advertising, or a solicitation to join a commercial online or offline service. So why did you lock a perfectly civil thread in which no-one was being annoyed, defamed, harassed, solicited or advertised to about the legalities of libel in this forum? Suddenly, you appear to have made "extra-curricular-ness" a test all on its own. Unfair, I'd have said. Indeed, a year ago you were writing that "one person's nourishment is another person's poison" and that you were very much "in the "nourishment" category", firmly of the opinion "the beauty of a blog is that it can be a vehicle for creative self-expression, in which the reader learns something about the writer - not just dry facts." What is sauce for a blog, I'd have said, ought to be sauce for a forum.

    Hi all,
I share my opinion with the aim of making JDeveloper a better product. I use JDeveloper since january 2002 and as Java editor I'm very statisfied with it. I used it also to develop a project BC4J based with good results. But there are also dark sides, documentation and forum support. The documentation is getting better and better as the product evolves, but compared to the database one is still on early stages. I'd like to say two version HTML and PDF with reference and tutorial. Now you have to go to the site, download how tos, browse articles and so on even for basic tasks. Forum support is what, in my opinion, need a serious improvement. In the last week I experimented daily outages (and it wasn't my internet connection); additionally I was trying to develop a JSP Strusts based application, but with no luck since my question get unanswered. Luckily switching to HTML DB solved my problem at all. If Oracle really believes in JDeveloper the free support must be upgraded to a better level. I like JDeveloper very much, (I think ADF is the BEST java data access framework ever built) I believe that there are some really great and promising technology (JSP-ADF-Struts), but if you don't support users the product will never get the merites it deserves.
I hope this will help to make the JDeveloper support better.

  • HOW DO I CHANGE MY PASSWORD ON THIS FORUM?  HOW DO I STAY LOGGED IN?

    Come on, Verizon....it's 2011!
I've looked high and low on this forum, ran searches, read old posts, and yet it seems there is no way to change your password to this forum other than "forgetting" your old password. (and some people have had problems with that method since their computer remembers the old one).
Another thing:  Why do I have to sign in EVERY TIME I come to this forum.  Most of the twelve billion other forums on the web allow you the option to stay signed-in if I like.  Not this one.  It's a real PITB.  And ridiculous for such a 'high-tech' organization.
If I'm wrong, please tell me.  I'd love to hear it!

The reps are on here, but I do know it seems they may get to your message a couple days later. So I through out an option
Yep -and that's purposely.  Budone, remember when the reps first started posting on here - we all "complained" that they were taking issues to PM with users, so no one was getting answers except the original poster.  It seem sI read that the reps now wait several days before jumping in to the discussion to give the "community" a chance to respond first.  If no response, or incorrect responses are happening, then an official rep will join in.  Sometimes they'll even chime in to confirm a correct answer....
But to the OP, it is primarily customers helping other customers, and if someone can help, they will.
Like budone said, what you are asking about is more a function of the Lithium forum software than Verizon per se; I'm sure there are options in the backend but it means someone has to know how to customize the backend...    As far as changing the password, yes, it does seem kind of backwards to have to say you forgot it just to change it....but that's how it goes.  At one point I found it necessary to change mine and that was the only way I could get it done.
The time out happens after several hours; it works well enough for me to stay logged in most of the day; and I just log back in each morning.  Not a big deal.

I have been trying to install Photoshop CS6 & CC and Acrobat Pro XI on my Mac Pro (late 2013). I keep getting a 'configuration' error message and wondered if the problem was wide spread.
