Roberto Carvajal is not a responsible package maintainer

it's time for Archlinux devs to realize that.
I bugged IRC a few times about that, most of his packages are maintainer: None
but with him as a packager Arch is slower than Debian in updating. visit:
http://www.videolan.org/#NEWS1 [see date]
and
http://www.archlinux.org/packages.php?id=583
now it has been 4 months and nothing happend.
I like Arch, I read Judd's recent mail, and I do not like Roberto or anyother to make it sound worse than Debian.
I /really/ hope rest of packagers adopt roberto and then rm roberto for good
I usually do not go out and speak like that for a man I do not know, but I think the above 2 links say it all when it comes to him being an packager for arch

That's libttool slay - devs are sharing the load.

Have you made a bug report?

There maybe a good reason you don't know about so I suggest you consider that before you start airing your dirty laundry in public

Please anyone facing the same or related issue, give me a suggestion..
    Thanks,
    Manikandan B

    Hello Manikandan
The error indicates that there is an issue with the *_back RFC destination
    itself.
Have you done an authorisation check within SM59?
    Utilities > Authorisation check?
You can also do so by testing the connection in SDCCN.
Goto > Taskspecific settings > RFC destination > Backdestination
This problem is often caused by the user in the RFC connection
being locked in the Solution Manager.
Make sure the RFC user account is a communication user so the password does not expire. Sometimes the password expires and the RFC user locks the account as the old expired password is provided too many times.
The message also indicated "No active master Solution Manager destination maintained"
Please make sure the relevent Solution Manager system has been marked as Master in SDCCN Goto > Taskspecific settings > RFC destination >
These are things you will want to check.
I hope this information helps you resolve this problem.

    Paul

  • AUR Package Maintainer

    Hi Everyone!
I got into Arch recently just after Ubuntu 9.10 was released and I'm lovin it! I want to give back to the community, but not being a programmer, my options are kinda limited... So i figure that maybe I can become a package maintainer in the AUR? But I don't know what I am supposed to do, so I'm kinda wary as I dont want to end up doing anything stupid >.>
So what exactly is required of a package maintainer? What will I have to do? I couldn't really find anything from google and the article in the wiki is... well... pointless
I'm enlisting in the USAF next year so I dont know how long i'll be able to do it for but I'm gonna try and give what I can while I can!
    Thanks!

The maintainer keeps the package up-to-date and provides support for people who can't build the package for whatever reason. So basically, if I whine to you that your stuff doesn't work on my computer, you'll have to do what it takes to make it run. That's rarely a problem, though, because people give helpful comments and sometimes provide updated PKGBUILDS by themselves.
Also, when you don't have time for a package anymore, you can always orphan it (so it is without a maintainer again). It's not too much work if you have just one to maintain, so just go ahead.
Edit: Hm... After a rant like that, I should probably adopt a package as well...

  • How to import a class, which is not in a package?

    Hi all,
    I have the following problem:
A class A is not in a package. In another class B, which is in a package (let's say package X) I want to use the class A. Without importing the class A, I get the error "Cannot resolve symbol".
Using the import statement import A; gives the error ". expected".
How can I import that class?
    Best wishes to all ...

I think not putting a class in a package is a bad practice. Avoid that.

  • How to save library symbols' class files in packages that are not the default package?

    Hi,
I perform the following in Flash CS5 with Flash Builder 4
    1) Create a new library symbol.
    2) Do a RightClick->Properties on the new symbol
    3) Check the options for "Export for ActionScript" and "Export in frame 1".
    4) I write a new name for my class "Class1" and click on the pencil icon "edit class definition" to edit the class.
At this point my FlashBuilder 4 takes over and opens the "New ActionScript" dialog.
    4) I then click on Package-Browse to select a package e.g. com.mycompany.myfiles as the new class destination.
The as file is created as com.mycompany.myfiles/Class1.as as everything seems just fine.
    5) I close the ActionScript file and back in Flash CS5 I RightClick on the symbol and select "Edit Class".
At this time, FB4 suggests again to create the file, ignoring the fact that I already created it before.
Do you know of a way I can make Flash CS5 remember where I created the file?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I didn't remove the project or delete any of the files.
All I did was create the class file under a package that is not the default package. Then when I clicked on the Flash symbol's "Edit Class" It asked me again to create the same class file.
Only if I create the class in the default package, it won't ask me to recreate it again.

  • Not enough bandwidth to maintain connection

Okay here is my problem- I'm a college student living in an off campus type of dorm sharing an internet connection with many other people. My sister and I have tried to have video chat's using ichat. We both have macbooks however it seems like each time we try it says there is not enough bandwidth to maintain the connection. This applies to audio chats too. We also have our setting to bandwidth limit as being none. The next thing I am curious about is that on ichat certain people have three layers representing their video and audio chat capabilities. I know I should have three layers since I have all those capabilities but I don't. Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

Because the total bandwidth is being shared among lots of people, your connection speed is likely to suffer, especially at peak periods. Have you tried at different times of the day to see if there's any improvement?
You could check the QuickTime streaming speed:
    System preferences>QuickTime>Streaming
If it's set to Automatic, change it to 1.5 Mbps.
Also, set the iChat bandwidth limit to 'none' (iChat> Preferences> video).
If that fails, try the video version of Skype instead:
    http://www.skype.com/download/skype/macosx/videopreview.html
Let us know if this doesn't get you chatting and we'll try some more things.

  • Function not found when package name exists with same name as schema name

Hi all, any help would be appreciated :)
I found an issue with pl/sql resolving a functions location when the db has a package name with the same as the db schema name.
    My example:
-- arbitrary test function, not in any package
    create or replace FUNCTION testFunc
         inTest     IN VARCHAR2
    RETURN VARCHAR2
    AS
    BEGIN
    RETURN 'a';
    END;
-- There is a package called "FM" with functions that are not referenced or used in this example and the db schema is "FM".
-- The following PL/SQL fails with the message: "ORA-00904: "FM"."TESTFUNC": invalid identifier"
    select cursor (select testFunc('a') from dual) from dual;
    -- The following PL/SQL works:
    select * from (select testFunc('a') from dual);
As mentioned the function testFunc is NOT in the FM package. This issue does not happen when I remove the FM package. So it seems like there is an issue with cursors calling functions when there exists any package with the same name as the db schema.
Can anyone tell me why this happens and also what I can add to force the function that is not in any package to be referenced (without Oracle trying to look in the FM package)?
    DB: Oracle 11.2.0.2
    thanks!
    Paul

    Hi Paul,
In general I would not advice to have schema and objects with the same name.
Here is what documentation is saying here: How Name Resolution Differs in PL/SQL and SQL
PL/SQL uses the same name-resolution rules as SQL when the PL/SQL compiler processes a SQL statement, such as a DML statement. For example, for a name such as HR.JOBS, SQL matches objects in the HR schema first, then packages, types, tables, and views in the current schema.
PL/SQL uses a different order to resolve names in PL/SQL statements such as assignments and subprogram calls. In the case of a name HR.JOBS, PL/SQL searches first for packages, types, tables, and views named HR in the current schema, then for objects in the HR schema. As you can see above when using PL/SQL for your case Oracle searches first for packages, types, tables, and views named FM in the current schema, then for objects in the FM schema.
And because a package FM is found it is raising an error due to the fact that the procedure could not be found in that package.
    I hope this clarify.
    Regards.

the javax.servlet package is not part of the JDK. It is part of the J2EE SDK which is an additional product that runs on top of the JDK. If you want to do servlet, EJB, or any type of J2EE programming, then you need either the J2EE SDK or a product that supports J2EE.

    You're very welcome!
I meant holding the "option" (or "alt") key on your keyboard as you click the Outlook icon on the Dock, and continuing to hold it until you see the Microsoft Database Utility come up. Alternatively, you can open the utility by navigating to Applications/Microsoft Office 2011/Office and then double-clicking the Microsoft Database Utility app.
When you rebuild your database using that program, a backup copy of your original database (containing your account info, contacts, mail, calendars, etc) will be created. As a security precaution, you should also ensure you have a backup of your database (which you can find by going to Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2011 Identities/ and copying the contents of that folder onto an external drive).

Since 1.4 a change in the import structure actually
makes it impossible for a class in a package to
reference a class in the default package.Yep.
    The choices are
    1. Put it in a package.
    2. Create a wrapper that does have a package. Use a compiler before 1.4 to compile it. Use the compiled version only in the new code.
    3. Don't use it.

  • Developer Opening: Package Maintainer

    Hey guys.
It's time to get a couple more maintainers on the dev team.  Eric Johnson (farphel) is leaving, so we'll need some people to pick up his packages.  There are also quite a few orphan packages that need some love.
    http://www.archlinux.org/jobs/maintainer.html
If you're interested and you've got the goods, lemme know.  Preference will be given to long-standing community members and people that have proven they can get things done.
    Thanks!

If "package maintainer" wouldn't imply "Arch dev" but simply what it says then the problem is sort of gone. Assuming that packages follow Arch guidelines and don't have a big influence like e.g. the rc scripts and init. But enough about this.
Voting for quality of packages is good, but it won't really help a lot because it isn't organized. The exact purpose of the current vote system is already vague, let alone the confusion of the new one. It also doesn't help to verify that the binary package is alright (build with the given pkgbuild), nor does it help getting an AUR repo with safe packages. But if done right it could work I suppose, though the chance that AUR is polluted with comments about the security aspect of a package instead of about the package itself is high. I expect communication between the auditors more suited for a dedicated mailinglist.
We'll always need different repo's, as one repo can't fulfil all functionality. More or less what there's now and could be:
    1) official repo's: can be trusted and expected high quality.
    2) TUR/community: same as official, but made by other people.
    3) AUR: high chance of being safe, but no quality guarantees other than that it builds and installs.
    4) bare binaries from the AUR site: use at your own risk.
    EDIT:
I fixed the url in your post Dusty, if you don't mind. Also, this voting system is good to have independend of the active auditing thing, and should go both ways: you should be able to vote that a package is alright, but one vote that it isn't should invalidate the whole package, so to speak, until the matter is resolved. Now only what's missing is that all packages with a certain goodness score are automatically build and added to an AUR repo which people can use (say 5 positive votes and none negative). Also if a new version is uploaded then the whole process needs to start again; perhaps if only the versions changed it could be automated so that it isn't needed. In most other cases it should.
