Robocopy with Windows 2008 R2
I was using robocopy with Server 2003 and had no one single issue. Today since 2 hours I am trying to find solution with robocopy of Windows 2008 R2.
Old command was;
robocopy H:\Source R:\Destination /E /COPYALL
Ive used same command many times but same command not working under Win 2008 robocopy.
Whats the equal command for robocopy 2008? Simply I wanna copy all files to another place with everything!!

i definitely understand what you are saying. it takes everyone some time to ramp up on new technology. i spent several years with msft and i can tell you that even for us it is hard to really ramp up on a technology until we start taking calls on it. msft is great about offering training before the technology drops (if you work in the right office) but that quickly slips out of your mind unless you use it every day. additionally, we are typically playing with the technology for about 2 years before it RTMs, but there's no way we can simulate every situation and for those 2 years the code is being revised and improved (hopefully). myself excluded, msft has some of the best support engineers that i have ever worked with, as a peer or a customer. remember, everyone blames msft (including 3rd-party vendors) and i can tell you with certainty, that it is very, very rarely (by percentages) msft's issue. i am obviously somewhat biased though. and regardless, i understand your frustration. you bought when the technology is expensive (not just the shelf price but the total cost of ownership because of exactly what you said - everyone's learning it) but take comfort in the fact that others will be able to better use the technology better because of your experience and you are ahead of the curve. as others learn of settings in KB articles, you'll understand the concepts that drive those settings. and in my humble opinion, the lack of conceptual understanding creates 85% of the technical issues that plague organizations. knowing a best practice or a setting because you remember what someone told you the right setting is or the best practice may be is a start. knowing when that best practices or that right setting is not the right setting for your situation or not the organizational best practice will make you invaluable. i tell my customers all the time, the best thing and the worst thing about msft's products is that anyone can be an engineer or an admin.
</rant>
now, if you'll forgive that. i am not really sure why this isn't working for you (and i haven't had the cycles to just repro it to be certain) but i am doubtful it is a tools thing specifically. still, good troubleshooting tells us that we should eliminate that. could you please install the 2003 resource kit on your 2008 R2 machine and attempt your robocopy string with the robocopy executable from the resource kit? if you'd prefer not to install it on the 2008 R2 machine, feel free to run robocopy from a 2003 machine but make sure to copy the same directories that you were trying to copy from the 2008 R2 machine.
thanks for the patience. we'll get there - i promise.

Upgrading R / 3 4.7 system to ECC6.0 with EHP4 along with windows 2008
Hi All,
I am looking for your feedback about the plan for upgrading our Landscape to ECC 6. with EHP4 from R/34.7E.
Current Environment: R/3 4.7X110 with SQL 2000 in 32 bit windows 2003
Planning to upgrade to the level of : ECC6.0 with EHP4 64 bit windows 2008, SQL 2005 Database
Based on the previous experience in upgrade I have planned in the following ways.
Since my basis component is in the level of 63, its possible for me to restore the SQL 2000 database in SQL 2005 (Using System copy tool )
Step 1: Migration of OS / DB using system copy tool (R/3 4.7 with SQL 2005 in 64 bit Windows 2003 ), Then will leave the system for testing for some period and after the confirmation, planned to start the upgrade
Step 2: By meeting all the prerequisites, Planned to upgrade to ECC6.0 with EHP4 on the OS / DB upgraded system.
Step 3: Once the upgrade completed / With the confirmation from the functional and technical consultants, I planned to upgrade the windows 2003 to windows 2008 using system copy tool.
Note: I am not using SQL 2008 - Project decision.
The above mentioned plan is the only way(proper way) for doing such activities or is there any other way to shorten the project.
I should not ask the below question (Even after reading PAM and SAP note 1054740), But kindly regret me for asking this one, out of own curiosity, i am asking the below one.
1. Is there any possible to install SAP R / 3 4.7 in windows 2008 with 2005 (This will help me to shorten the project). I am completely aware that SAP wont support R/3 4.7 with windows 2008, if its not at all possible is there any other work around for me to shorten? Let me know your suggestions and thoughts
Your valuable inputs will help me to proceed further with the plans (I surfed the SDN and read master guides already) . I really want to make sure , the way which i am going is the right one.
Thanks and Regards
Vijay KumarHi Jitendra,
Hope you should check the PAM again , Its supported for sure and also for upgrading to EHP4 - SQL 2005 is the Prerequiste.
Hi Abhi and Others,
Thanks for all your support.
I have successfully completed the project for my landscape and it was a great success too.
As you all said, since I had the hardware availability and time frame as well. Hence, I have tried both the possibilities.
Note :I would prefer and stick with the SAP proposed and supported way and even for my project I have followed the same. So I would recommend to stick with SAP supported one.
But for the own technical interest I have tried the other option as well which is not supported by SAP and also faced some typical issues as well / but solved on my own with some tricks and other activities. So, this option is also possible but highly risked one and of course(more importantly) which is not supported by SAP. So, i would recommend to go with the SAP recommended way.
Thanks for everyone and I am closing the thread

Performance problems on a Oracle 11G with Windows 2008 64bits.
Hi everyone,
I have noticed that our db is going low and low every week. My server has 16GB RAM and 10GB are dedicated to the Oracle database, this is a 11.2.0.1 with Windows 2008 R2 SP1 64bits. I like to know acording to the nexts values what you guys recommend to adjust in the init.ora:
orcl.__db_cache_size=5402263552
orcl.__java_pool_size=33554432
orcl.__large_pool_size=33554432
orcl.__pga_aggregate_target=3657433088
orcl.__sga_target=6878658560
orcl.__shared_io_pool_size=0
orcl.__shared_pool_size=1308622848
orcl.__streams_pool_size=33554432
*.memory_target=10511974400
*.open_cursors=5000
*.optimizer_mode='RULE'
*.processes=300
Acording to the memory target on how values can be increased the processes, pga_agregate_target, etc.
Also we have problems related to the bug Bug 9593134 that “Connections to Oracle 11g are slow and can take anywhere from 10 seconds to 2 minutes.” there is a fix on linux by removing the dns names on it but anyone have experience on windows platforms?
Thanks for all and sorry for my english.
Regards.
Arturo.Regarding the long connection times, have you tried using network packet capture software (such as Wireshark) to determine what the client computer is doing when a connection attempt is initiated?
The Oracle Database time model statistics, along with the system wide wait events may help you diagnose the non-connection related performance issues (you should not just look at the statistics, but instead capture the current values, wait a period of time, capture the statistics again, and compare the changes in the statistic values). A statspack report might also help you - but a 10046 trace at level 8 or 12 is more appropriate if you are able to identify a couple of sessions that experience performance problems.
I do not suggest just blindly modifying parameters, although I am curious to know:
* Why the session level parameter OPEN_CURSORS is set to 5000 - do you expect a single session to hold open 5,000 cursors?
* Why are you using the deprecated RULE based optimizer?
* Why is the MEMORY_TARGET parameter used when the SGA_TARGET and PGA_AGGREGATE target are specified?

Need assistance with Windows 2008 R2 server BSOD - ATTEMPTED_EXECUTE_OF_NOEXECUTE_MEMORY (fc)
I have a Windows 2008 R2 server which is experiencing random BSOD during the night. This is occurring maybe once or twice a week. I have gathered two Memory crash files. This server is running Citrix XenApp 6.5 but nothing else is reporting an issue except
for the memory dump. I’m looking for assistance in reading crash file and finding the cause.
I’ve spent over a week going through articles trying to learn and trouble shoot the BSOD but no closer to understanding the WinDbg 6.3.9600 report.
This is a production server and I have verified that Windows Updates has updated the server with latest releases. I’m hoping that the crash file will show something before I have to run the Driver Verifier.
The crash zip file is located -

WLC integrating with Windows 2008 AD
Hi,
I want to integrate WLC with windows 2008 server. If anybody done this integration i would like to know what are the step i need to do in the Microsoft Side, If you have any document related to MS 2008 integration pls share the information with me.
Thanks in adavence.
Regards,
SunishCan you provide more detail around what you mean by integrate? I don't think a WLC can talk directly to AD (Kerberos, LDAP, or otherwise).
If what you mean by "integrate" is to be able to authenticate wireless users against AD, then you will need something to proxy that authentication. That is usually a RADIUS server. Cisco ACS and Microsoft IAS and two common RADIUS servers, both of which can talk to AD. Check out the Cisco ACS 4.2 configuration guide for a good example. Here's a link to an older Microsoft article, but it still applies to 2008 (Microsoft IAS is still included with Windows Server).

Can someone give me some hint on how to resolve this issue?
I bought the X200 and installed Windows Vista 64 bit without a problem. I am now creating a VM with Windows 2008 64bit but received this message after installation and reboot: "Attempting to load a 64-bit application, however this CPU is not compatible with 64-bit mode."
The CPU is Intel P8600 which is 64-bit compatible. Why did Vista 64-bit install and run properly and not Windows 2008?
Thanks !I found the answer to my question on this blog...

How to Upgrade Service Manager 2012 SP1 with Windows 2008 R2 to SCSM 2012 R2 with Windows 2012 R2
Hi,
We are using Service Manager 2012 SP1 UR2 with Windows 2008 R2.
I am planning to upgrade Service Manager to R2 with Windows 2012 R2. I found the steps to upgrade SCSM 2012 Sp1 to R2 but need assistance to upgrade with 2012 R2 OS.
Please suggest how to achieve the above mentioned objective.
Regards, Syed Fahad AliVirtualization solves this problem handily, by allowing you to create a new server to run the new program on the same hardware. it also solves the related problem of moving off unsupported hardware without changing OS or application. VMware is my personal
favorite, but Hyper-V, Xen, and VirtualBox all have similar capabilities.
Compare the cost of work and confidence in success of a upgrade, where any of thousands or millions of uncontrolled settings could cause an issue, to the cost of work and confidence in success of installing a new OS instance and configuring a known state
for the new environment.
In short, upgrades should no longer be a thing. there are just too many ways they can go wrong, and it's far too easy to create a new OS with minimal expense and effort. -
