Robohelp 10 trial

How do I access the Robohelp 10 trial program from the Application Manager? I thought I downloaded the program as a free trial, but all that I seem to have is access to the Applicatin Manager. Where is my access to open Robohelp?

Robohelp 10 is not available in the Adobe Application Manager.  Please see https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?loc=en%5Fus&product=robohelp to download the trial for Robohelp 10.

  • Dowload of Acrobat Trial - RoboHelp Trial Conflict

I downloaded a trial of RoboHelp, then tried to download a trial of Acrobat Pro.  I received an error message from the installer that there was a higher version of product installed, Adobe PDF Creation Add On.   This is from Robohelp I believe.  Is there any way I can have a trial of RoboHelp and Acrobat at the same time? I'm considering a subscription to the Technical Communications suite, wanted to try out these two first.  Thanks

Hi opsmca and welcome to the RH forums. So many questions so let's get to them
The file extension from a RH project depends on the type of output being produced. Threre are many different output types available depending on your needs. I outlined these in a recent blog post which you can read here.
The RoboHelp product is in fact two beasts. The first RoboHelp for Word uses Word as its editor creating RTF files which are then compiled. However this is little used these days. The other application is RoboHelp HTML which has its own in built WYSIWYG editor (it looks similar to Word) that creates the underlying HTML used to render the documentation topics. With this you can still have writers writing in Word or FrameMaker and then import this into RoboHelp. You can even dynamically link Word or FrameMaker files to your RoboHelp HTML project making the process of getting any updates very easy.
The answer to this question depends on the output type you are using (see question 1). Each output type has its own deliverable and as such requires a different method of integration. You may also want to consider how context sensitive help calls are handled. My advice though is not to fall into the trap of saying you need JavaHelp just because your app is Java.
RoboHelp 8 is the current version and is the only one you're likely to find in the shops. If you want to use simulations, FrameMaker in any shape or form you may want to consider buying the Adobe Technical Communication Suite. The latest version is 2.5 and includes RoboHelp, FrameMaker, Captivate, Acrobat Professional and assorted other applications and utilities.
Finally I'd really recommend that you at the very least download a RoboHelp trial. This is a fully working version that you can use for 28 days. It should give you a good idea of further questions to ask! There are also a number of useful RoboHelp resources you can tap into:

  • Migration from AuthorIt 5.4 to the new RoboHelp

    Hi,
Got to the tipping point of the RoboHelp trial.
Does anyone know of a way to import existing documentation on AuthorIt into RoboHelp without much hassle?
    Thank you,
    Rochai

Doesn't Author-It hold it's information in a datbase? If so, I'm thinking that would make direct import tricky. One solution could be to generate all the content as a CHM and then reverse engineer that as set out on my site.

  • RoboHelp10 in Windows 7 64 bit and Office Word 2010.

    Hi,
I have installed RoboHelp trial in Windows 7 64 bit with Office 2010.  But Office 2010 file format is not recognised in RoboHelp.  Word 2010 is not listed under options.  How to configure RoboHelp such that Word 2010 files are recognised by RH.
    Soni

You state "Word 2010 is not supported in RoboHelp word, hence my query was posted in RobeHelp for word. As word 2010 is not listed under the options just like word 2003 and word 2007." Where are you getting that from. I just opened RoboHelp for Word 10 and see this dialog in Tools > Options.
I don't think Adobe would give that option for an unsupported version.
The problem could be you have the 64 bit version of Word installed and it may be that is not recognised. It was an issue in RoboHelp 9. See Item 9 at http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/rh9/using_rh9.htm. You will have to ask Adobe if the issue remains in RoboHelp 10.

  • RoboHelp 10 Trial Version Download Link Not Working

I have tried on multiple browers to download the trial version of RoboHelp 10.  Each time, it shows an error message after I select the language and click "Download."
I called Adobe support and they said they couldn't help me: all I can do is post the problem on this forum.  How stupid is that? I am potentially going to buy this product and I cannot even download it!  Talk about bad sales on their part. (I wonder how the MadCap Flare folks would respond if I had the same problem? I'm just sayin'...)
    But I digress...
Does anyone have a link that actually works?
    ~Cindy

    Hello!
    Thanks for the quick response.
I have tried I/E 9 and Firefox 17.   In I/E, I get the standard "Page not found" message; in Firefox I get "File not found."
I don't have the Akami Downloader, and the option was never given to download it before I tried to download the trial.  I searched for it and all the places I found in my Google search require a purchase.
Here is the Adobe page for Akami: http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/akamai-download-manager-faq.html#main_Wh ere_do_I_download_the_Akamai_Download_Manager_.
I then found this page: http://helpx.adobe.com/tech-comm-suite/kb/troubleshoot-akamai-download-manager-3.html#main _Download_the_trial_directly.  I clicked the link to the Adobe downloads page and no where in the list of products does it show Akami.

Is it just me having a dumb blonde moment or is this really screwed up?

  • Installed RoboHelp 11 for trial and it overwrote Acrobat 9 pro with broken version of Acrobat 11 which I can't uninstall.

The subject says it all. I installed Robohelp 11 to try it. Without my permission, the installation nuked my perfectly functional Acrobat 9.0 Pro and replaced it with a completely broken of Acrobat 11, which I neither wanted nor needed. I went to control panel to get rid of it so I could re-install Acrobat 9 Pro, and Acrobat 11 doesn't even appear as an application that can be uninstalled. Yes, the installation is that broken. So now I can't work with PDFs at all. I am more than happy to uninstall the trial of Robohelp to get back Acrobat, but I'm not even sure that will fix the issue since the installation program seems so squirrely. Anyone else had this problem. If so, how did you resolve it? Thanks for any help anyone can offer!

Thanks for your reply. As I mentioned in my post, when I went to Control Panel to uninstall Acrobat 11.0, it wasn't listed among currently installed apps. However, after going back and looking through the Installed On dates in Control Panel, I realized that for some reason, it's called Adobe PFD Creation Add-on XI, rather than Acrobat 11.0. Interestingly, the program folder name in Windows Explorer still uses Acrobat 11.0.
Fortunately for me, I always have disc versions of my software. So I was able to re-install Acrobat 9.0 once I got rid of Adobe PDF Creation Add-on XI. I really wish that Adobe made clearer what extras they are installing with these trial versions :-(
    Thanks again.

  • RoboHelp 6 for Word Trial Version

I downloaded and installed the trial version of RoboHelp 6. I
am able to run RoboHelp HTML but can not run RoboHelp for Word.
After I select the desktop icon for RoboHelp for Word, I am
prompted to open one of the sample projects. I select a project and
click OK. I then receive a Windows error stating that the
application must close. Once I click Don't Send Message, RoboHelp 6
    for Word closes.
I am running Windows XP sp 2 and Word 2003. I do not have any
prior versions of RoboHelp installed on this computer. The computer
meets the system requirements for RH 6 installation.
Any help is much appreciated. Thank you.

  • TCS 3 trial won't install RoboHelp & Framemaker

Hopefully, I own't need this, and someone in tech support will figure it out. But for 3 days, I've been getting Error 7 and now Error 6 from the installer, when it gets to Frame and Robohelp. We've uninstallled TCS 1, run the cleaner, tried re-installation. The CS5 components and Photoshop install fine, but it fails on what we really need it for, Frame and Robohelp.
I have a project underway, and we were hoping TCS would make the Help easier. Now I can't use anything. If it doesn't install soon (we have 27 days left on the trial, but that's not the issue--getting work done is), I'll try to re-install TCS 1.0, and hope this didn't impact it.
My boss is not feeling warm and fuzzy about a possible department upgrade, based on this.
Any help or suggestions for getting the two crucial components installed is appreciated. I'd go for standalone trials, but I hear those don't have the attractive couplings between the tools.

    Hi ,
Please make sure that you run the set-up from a path that does not contain unicode characters or spaces.
If problem persists, please provide us the following information so that we can identify the issue with your installation:
    1) Go to Temp directory ( type %temp%  in Start Menu->Run) and create a new file with the name ribs3debug ( please make sure that this file should not have any extension)
    2) Make sure no other Adobe product is running
    3) Run the set-up again
    4) Once the set-up exits, go to <ProgramFileFolder>\Common Files\Adobe\Installers and share the installation log generated with the name Adobe Technical Communication Suite 3 (time stamp).log.gz.

    Welcome to the forum.
I have deleted your email address. It is recommended you do not post your address on any forum, not just this one, unless you do have body parts that need enlarging or you want to hear from a long lost relative who has entrusted his millions to a bank official.
Create a new Word document with just one or two headings and some content. Then open one of the sample projects and import it into that.
Click Open on the RoboHelp Starter page and then click Samples in the ribbon on the left.

  • RoboHelp 10 trial version installation gets to 65% and stops

I have been trying to install Robohelp 10 trial version on my Win7 Dell Laptop for about 4 hours now and it always stops at about the 65% complete mark (Currently Installing AdobeHelp).  I have tried at least 4 times and it stops in the same place every time.
    (1) I am running the program as Administrator
    (2) My system is Win7 (64-bit)
Any suggestions on how to fix this?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi inasall,
This might be caused due to the interference of some program running at the background.

  • Activating a trial version of RoboHelp

I'm using a trial version of RoboHelp and have created the
max number of pages. I would now like to purchase RoboHelp, but I
don't know if my work will be maintained. Do I simply need to copy
the folder over to the new install.
I did read that I must uninstall the trial before installing
the full version. Does anyone have some suggestions?

    Hi Moosegolfr
Good to hear of another 'RoboTrialler' becoming a real
'RoboHelper'! It really is a fabulous product.
If you have created your project within the actual RoboHELP
directories, you will need to copy the entire project directory to
a different location. When you uninstall, most of the RoboHELP
directories (if not all) will go, so you would most likely loose
    your project.
I always create my project directories in their own
    independant directory.

  • RoboHelp 6 Trial

    Hi,
I just downloaded the trial for RH 6 and it is asking for a
Product Key and will not let me install as I have not been sent
    one.
Has anyone else had this problem?

    Hi,
The product key / serial number is at the top of the trial
    page.
    http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=robohelp&loc=en%5Fus
    "Trial serial number: 1316-1030-9508-9122-9700-7932"
    Is this what you need?
    Kind Regards

  • RoboHelp 6 trial version

I tried to run the trial version of RoboHelp6 but it won't
install without a recent version of Word installed on my computer.
I don't use Word and have no intention of buying it. Has Robohelp
done away with their integrated editor? This would be a giant step
backwards Does anyone know if I can use the release version without
    Word?

There are three programs one can launch from the start menu,
RoboHelp HTML, RoboHelp for Word, and RoboHelp Starter. The starter
program was what was launched after installation. So it is not
"all-in-one" as I stated but is consistent with previous versions.
One does not need Word installed.
Peter, your "getting started with RoboHelp 6.0" was one of
the sources that said it was needed. Since most people seem to have
Word, this probably won't be a deterrent for many.
