RoboHelp 6 ACTIVATION

HI, I HAVE DOWNLOADED ROBOHELP 6 TRAIL VERSION, BUT DURING
INSTALLATION IT IS ASKING THE PRODUCT ACTIVATION, IS IT NECESSARY
TO ACTIVATE THE TRAIL VERSIONS ALSO.

Welcome to the forum
The problem is that most folks here are users of the full
version so we cannot say what will happen if you don't activate. In
the full version you have 30 days before you must activate but that
is the life of the trial version.
If activation is a problem, then live with the warnings and
see what happens.

  • Robohelp activated on machine that's in landfill

Ok, the other machine really isn't in a landfill, but it went to the recycling center months ago and had an activated version of RH 8 on it. I had already installed it on my next PC, but since Adobe lets you have two versions activated, nobody paid attention to it. Now I need my second copy for my laptop to take work home, and I can't activate it. Anyone know how to deactivate a version?

Jeff's is the better solution but you could deactivate the work machine, activate the laptop, work, reverse those steps. It might be quicker for a one off situation.

  • Formatting in IE7

    Hi all,
I've had a quick search on the forum, but can't find an
answer. I'm aware of the WebHelp support (or lack of) in IE7, but
can anyone offer some advise/workaround for my problem? I'm using
images as background images in table cells (Format > Borders and
Shading > Shading) which aren't being displayed in IE7.
    Thanks,

You're not working on a network, are you?
    If you are, stop.
All RoboHelp activity must be done on your local
    machine.
If that's not the case, come back with more details.
    Good luck,

  • RoboHelp Server 8/Active Directory

    Hi again,
After moving my install of RoboHelp Server from our Windows Server 2008 R2 server to an older Windows Server 2003 Web Edition box, I was able to get RoboHelp Server talking to SQL Server 2008 through ODBC.  Now on to the next problem.  I've been trying to configure LDAP authentication against Active Directory, which I can see from a post from NSC_Gillis last August, it looks like there's a problem here.
    My setup now consists of:
RoboHelp Server 8 installed on Windows Server 2003 Web Edition with Tomcat 6.0.26 and JRE 1.6.20.
The relevant config section from my <context_name>_server.properties file:
#To use LDAP authentication , uncomment the following...
    authtype = ldap
    ldapURL = ldap://<subdomain>.<domain>.com:389
    usersearchbase = DC=<subdomain>,DC=<domain>,DC=com
    rolesearchbase = DC=<subdomain>,DC=<domain>,DC=com
    useridkey = uid
    rolename = cn
    rolesearch = member
    DefAdminUid = <UidOfAdmin>
    DefAdminPwd =
This yields one of ththe following two results when attempting to subsequently log in to the Web Administrator interface:
    Error in LDAP authentication.
    javax.naming.AuthenticationException: [LDAP: error code 49 - 80090308: LdapErr: DSID-0C0903A9, comment: AcceptSecurityContext error, data 52e, v1db0
    Error in LDAP authentication.
    javax.naming.AuthenticationException: [LDAP: error code 49 - 80090308: LdapErr: DSID-0C0903AA, comment: AcceptSecurityContext error, data 325, v1772
Both of these errors indicate that when RoboHelp Server is attempting ldap_bind(), that it is doing so with bad credentials. When it comes to Active Directory, these credentials have to be in the form of a valid User Principal Name (UPN) and a password, which given the configuration data above, we're never able to provide one.  And since I've been able to configure Tomcat itself to use a JNDI Realm for authentication successfully against the same said Active Directory, I have to assume RoboHelp Server is attempting to do an anonoymous ldap_bind() which just won't work with Active Directory.
If someone can provide some guidance at this point, I'd be grateful.
I admit, for a product that is released only for use on the Windows platform, to include LDAP functionality, but then break it so it won't work with Active Directory, or at least to provide little to no guidance/documentation on how to get it to work, seems patience testing at the least.
If we cannot get this resolved, we will be forced to review our future use of the RoboHelp/RoboHelp Server products as a whole.
    Thanks,
    Scott

    Hi Scott,
RoboHelp Server doesn't do an anoymouse LDAP bind. It uses the ldap user id and password provided in the properties file. Please note that for RoboHelp Server configured with LDAP, "DefAdminUid" property in robohelp_server.properties should be set to a valid LDAP user principal and "DefAdminPwd" property should be set to LDAP password of that user principal.

    Tulika.

  • RoboHelp 9 - Activated or not?

    Hi,
I recently installed RoboHelp 9 on a machine that is not connected to the Internet. I am confused as to whether it is activated or not. When I open a project, I am given a dialog with the option to register 9 (which I always skip). I know there is a difference between activation and registration. The Deactivate option is grayed out on the Help menu.
Basically I need to know whether I will be able to continue using RoboHelp 9 after 30 days. Again, my machine is not connected to the Internet, and connecting is not an option. Otherwise, I have no need for this product.

    Hi there
Assuming you have a valid license, you will likely need to contact Adobe support and I believe they have a capability to take your information and provide you a code for manual activation.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Activation Server Unavailable when activating Adobe RoboHelp 6

I am getting an Activation Server Unavailable message when activating Adobe RoboHelp 6 on Windows 7. Phone activation no longer works. Anyone encountered this issue before? Thanks!

I had to contact Adobe Support twice via chat. The first representative told me to go on here. The second one gave me an RH6 installer and a serial number different from the one I had. Now able to run RH6 without the prompt to activate.

    Hi there
Expounding on what Colum said, you may think the forums here are a direct avenue to Adobe. Sure, they are on the Adobe site and employees may monitor them from time to time, but they are not intended to be a way to contact Adobe directly. Mostly they are user to user, meaning I'm a user same as you and we help one another out.
Best of luck to you in solving your issue... Rick

  • Activating a trial version of RoboHelp

I'm using a trial version of RoboHelp and have created the
max number of pages. I would now like to purchase RoboHelp, but I
don't know if my work will be maintained. Do I simply need to copy
the folder over to the new install.
I did read that I must uninstall the trial before installing
the full version. Does anyone have some suggestions?

    Hi Moosegolfr
Good to hear of another 'RoboTrialler' becoming a real
'RoboHelper'! It really is a fabulous product.
If you have created your project within the actual RoboHELP
directories, you will need to copy the entire project directory to
a different location. When you uninstall, most of the RoboHELP
directories (if not all) will go, so you would most likely loose
    your project.
I always create my project directories in their own
    independant directory.

  • RoboHelp X5 activation (yet again)

    Hello everyone
It has been ages since I posted here and I haven't used RoboHelp X5 in ages (We have migrated our project to MadCap Flare) so please bear with me.
I need to open an historical project with RH X5 to have a look at some CSH stuff.
To my surprise, I am asked to activate my copy of RH X5 and have discovered on the Internet that this was a known issue.
I read snippet 100 of Peter Grainge's website and tried to follow the steps described there and in
    http://www.adobe.com/support/robohelp/downloads.html
However, or I need new glasses, or I am very tired, but I cannot find the mentioned X5.0.1 and X5.0.2 patches (looks like their hyperlinks have been removed from the document), nor the links that are apparently provided for cases where the auto-update feature is not accessible (which is my case, I cannot get in).
    Can someone help?
    Thanks in advance!

I changed computers, I installed X5, and I have run the 501 patch but get the following error for the 502 patch:
    Unable to locate file.
    c\users\name\AppData\Local\Temp\_isE5BF\RoboHelp Office X5.0.2 Update.msi.
I have tried saving/running the patch to the RoboHelp Office folder and I have tried saving/running the patch from this temp folder.
Has anyone seen this error before?

  • Can I use RoboSource without buying RoboHelp Server?

I work for a University that has just purchased a new
database system (Advance for the Web) from SunGard Higher Ed. The
system came with on-line documentation written in RoboHelp that we
can edit to suit the needs of our institution. We could have edited
the individual HTML topics (about 1,300 of them total) without
RoboHelp, but instead we opted to purchase RoboHelp 7 in order to
have the entire pre-existing help project. I am the sole editor of
    this project.
I would like to be able to use the RoboSource application in
order to track changes that I make to the pre-existing help topics,
but when I tried to add version control to my project, it prompted
me to create a connection to a database. Our database lives on a
remote server that is password protected. I tried to make the
connection, but I received the following error message: "No
connection could be made because the target machine actively
refused it." The RoboSource on-line documentation describes how to
create a database, but I don't need a new database because ours
already exists... I just can't connect to it via the RoboSource
    application. That's my first problem.
The second problem: Even if there is a way to circumvent the
"remote server database issue" and create a "Help" database on my
local machine, I can't figure out how I would DO that. The
RoboSource on-line documentation says the following: "Unlike in
previous versions, creating a database for RoboSource Control 3.1
is not done within the RoboSource Control Explorer, but within a
stand-alone application - the RoboSource Server Configuration
Utility.” Does this mean that I need the RoboHelp Server, or
is there a RoboSource Server, too? Do I HAVE to have one (or both)
of these products in order to use version control?
Please help me. I'm not a technical person, but the people
who I work with who ARE technical people don't understand what I
    need to do, either.

    @ Gravenstein
    Thanks for your response.
    >>...We are using three clients and one server. We have
installed the server component together with the client component
on a local PC. That's why I don't know whether the server component
needs a licence key or not. But it should not have to.
I haven't described it correct. We are using 3 clients to
work with. One of these clients has also the server installed. So
the database is not on a server machine but on a local PC. Now we
want to get the database away from the local PC to a server
machine. That's why I wonder if the installation of RSC Server on a
server asks for a licence key?!?
    >>...This server doesn't need the robohelp environment
to edit topics, it only needs the server component. This should be
possible to install without asking for a licence key.
    >> That is correct. At least that's the way it works
    with RH6.
What do you mean with "that's the way it works with RH6"? How
about RH7? Does it work similar? I hope so, because we want to
upgrade and to move the database from the local PC to our server
    machine after the upgrade.
By the way, does it function to copy the old database from
the local (server) PC to the server machine and after changing the
clients settings to work with the new server they could use the old
database in the new folder of the server machine again? Or do we
have to write the projects from every client to the new server
machine manually to work with the version control after changing
the server? I'm asking this because I don't know what is stored in
the database. If the folder name of the database is stored in the
database, it doesn't work any longer if it is moved to another
    folder!?

  • RoboHelp 9 Will Not Compile Web Help

    Windows 7 Professional 640-bit
    Microsoft Office 2010
    RH 9.0.2.271
I have several projects for which I compile Web help.
Compiling the projects has been no problem in the past.
I have made no known changes to the computer or user rights.
Now, RH stops responding when the compile starts. The stop is very early in the process.
    I can compile CHM files.
In Output View, I see the following message:
    Initializing complier
    Generating Webhelp 5.50 (9.0.0.228)…
Error: Can not register active script for language javascript
Template Error: can not resolve macro: RegisterResolvers

While searching for an answer, I tried the following without success:
Note: I am an administrator on the computer. I have always been an admin on the computer.
I have not uninstalled/reinstalled RH so there should be no issues with administrator privileges.
I ran the RH executable as an administrator using a variety of methods like right-click RoboHTML.exe and click Run as Administrator.
    Project is on local drive.
    Created a new project.
Compiled the sample projects contained in RH.
    Created a new SSL.
Create a new target folder for the output.
Copy the LNG file from the "!Language\<current-project-language>" folder to the project folder.
From the project settings dialog, change the project language to a different language, and then change it back to the current language.
    Deleted CPD file.
    Deleted !Language! folder.
Word macro security is Enable all macros.
Can anyone help me find something I have not tried.

First I have often found that Deactivate becomes enabled if you wait a while after opening.
Search on these two lines from your first post.
Template Error: can not resolve macro: RegisterResolvers
Fata Error: Cannot run macro: Register Resolvers in compilation.
(Was it really Fata rather then Fatal?)
Maybe you haven't changed rights but have IT done so without your knowledge?

  • RoboHelp HTML Version 9 - what is the version for ehlpdhtm.js?

We have been running pen tests looking for vulnerabilites on applications my company has created in order to be PCI certified. I built webhelp systems for these applications using RoboHTML v9.
The pen test has indicated that ehlpdhtm.js is suspect with the following message:
WebInspect detected the use of an ActiveX object. This could indicate a vulnerability is present if a vulnerable public version of the Microsoft Active Template was utilized. There are three vulnerabilities in the public versions of the Microsoft Active Template Library (ATL) included with Visual Studio. Applications and components created with these versions of ATL are vulnerable to remote code execution and information disclosure attacks. Visual Studio itself is not vulnerable to these issues. In these three vulnerabilities, ATL processes data incorrectly which can lead to memory corruption, information disclosure, and instantiation of objects without regard to security policy. After Visual Studio is patched, it will no longer create applications and components with these vulnerabilities. However, applications and components compiled using the vulnerable version of ATL need to be rebuilt with the safe version released by Microsoft. Recommendations include applying any relevant service pack or patch as listed in the Fix section, then recompiling and redistrubiting any software created prior to the update. If you have already applied the proper fix, then this vulnerability can safely be ignored.
    Explanation
Any application compiled using the vulnerable active template could be subject to code execution and information disclosure vulnerabilities.
What is the latest version of the ehlpdhtm.js file?
The copyright inside the file is:
    // Dynamic HTML JavaScript
// Copyright © 1998-2009 Adobe Systems Incorporated. All rights reserved.
    // Version=8.0
If this is not the latest version, is there somewhere I can get the latest file? If not, I won't be able to use the dynamic html features of RoboHTML.

If you have the latest patch installed (9.0.2), you have the latest version of ehlpdhtm.js. There was an XSS vulnerability fix for 9.0.1, but that is included in 9.0.2. From what I can see in my installation, version 8.0 is the latest version for RoboHelp 9.
RoboHelp 11 has a newer version of the file, but the active x is still in there.
I'm not a security expert. The ActiveX is used for supporting old versions of IE and CHM's. It should not be used by modern browsers. I've never heard of RoboHelp being abused in this way so I would deem it safe. But again, that's just my layman opinion.
    Kind regards,
    Willam

  • Problem with RoboHelp 8

I've never used RoboHelp for Word, but had a project come up at work. I'm having a few problems with it.
The first problem has been brought up in this forum before, but I did not see an answer for it. When I create a hyperlink in the .doc and/or the .rtf file, it doesn't work after I compile it. It looks like a clickable link, but it isn't active.
The second problem also deals with hyperlinks. There was already a hyperlink in the document, but it was broken. I need to change the name of person in that (broken) hyperlink. I changed the name and the email in the document, but when I compile it it shrinks the font size of the hyperlink from 12pt to about 8pt and it still doesn't work. After I saw that it was changing the font size, I changed it back to the original name and the font size stayed the same. Then I deleted the document and imported another copy of it.After compiling it, the font size for the hyperlink stayed at 12pt. Just to check, I changed the phone number in the block of text, not the hyperlink, but the hyperlink still shrunk.
I'm sure there is something I'm missing about hyperlinks in this thing, but I've been messing with it on and off for two days and haven't fixed it yet.

Based on your statement about never using Robohelp for Word, I have to ask the dumb question... sorry...
Are you using Word's hyperlink feature to add the mailto link like you would in a plain old word doc not associated with RoboHelp? If so, that is not where you add it.
In RH for Word to add the link, highlight the text, right click and select Insert Help Jump... If you are adding a mailto link, select Action Type HTML Jump and in the URL or File add mailto:[email protected]
For the link you want to correct, in Word, remove the hyperlink, then do the same as above to add the RH Help Jump. This should solve the font size problem also once you compile.
