RoboHelp 7 - Burning a Project to CD

I am trying to burn a flash help project to CD. I created an
auto run file which launches the first page but it's totally blank.
I tried the same for web help and it worked without issue. I have
attached the autorun file I am using.
I'm just using the default writing package. Are there any
settings within robohelp for this?
Can anyone help

  • IDVD burning one project on multiple macs? where are project contents?

How do I burn one project on multiple macs? I have a idvd project I created in keynote, added music to it in Garageband, exported to quicktime, and now is in iDVD burning just fine. However I have tons of these dvd's to make, I would like to put all my mac's to work.
last night i tried to share the file, and it is just an alias when i drag it over from the macbook it was created on to my imac. the file says it is in use and locked, since the macbook that created it is burning it. If I wanted to brun on the imac, I had to wait until the macbook was done.
is there a way around this? What if I copied all files I used to make the idvd project to my imac or any computer i wanted to burn on? woudl it hen allow two macs to be burning the same project?
I figured I could do this just like on my PC, drag the file over and voila...no such luck, its like if i had dragged a shortcut over to another pc...if the first one is using the file, its locked. Basically how do i get to the actual contents of the project, so I can also bring them over and hopefully it will allow me to burn on multiple macs at the same time?
my next solution if that didn't work was to start copying dvd's using popcorn on the other macs while the macbook continues burning through idvd.
Any opinions on how i can duplicate a dvd fast...need alot of copies!

Also as to where the files are.

  • I can't burn a project from iMovie to a dvd why?

my mac didn't have idvd untill i instaled it but when i try to burn a project from imovie, the dvd doesn't work on any other computer what can i do?

What are you using to burn the movie to DVD? If you are using Finder, it will not work on other DVD players (not sure about other computers). In order to work anywhere, you need a dedicated video burn/authoring application such as iDVD, Roxio Toast, Burn, or many others you find by googling.
Oops - I missed the fact that you said you installed iDVD? So did you use that or Finder?

  • I had completed my iDVD project and burned a disc. It worked great! Then someone messed with the project and put a red frame around the opening screen. Now when I burn the project, it no longer has the opening frame. How can I fix?

I had completed my iDVD project, a Wedding Slideshow with pictures and music, and burned it on a disc. It worked great! Then someone messed with the original project on my computer and clicked around and put a red frame around the opening screen that has the Wedding theme with music. Now when I burn the project to make more DVDs, it burns but no longer has the opening frame. It immediately opens to the iMovie slideshow. How can I fix so I can burn the entire project with opening frames?

As Bengt suggested make a disk image of the successfully burned DVD using Disk Utility. Then you can burn copies any time you need one.
In the future once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
You can then burn it to disk with Disk Utility at the slowest speed available to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatium, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

  • Handing off a RoboHelp 8 HTML project to a client

I'm wrapping up a RoboHelp 8 HTML project for a client. I am copying the files to a shared drive, a
nd another person will be copying the files to his PC to maintain the help after I'm gone. Is there any d
anger of corruption of files, or are there any special steps we need to take? I need an answer by tomorrow morning.
    Thanks so much.
    Mendonite

    Hi there
As long as they copy the files from the shared drive to their PC, things should be fine.
If you have concerns, you might also want to zip the project(s) and place the zip(s) among the files too. Just in case.
Personally, I'd keep copies of the zips as well. That way if things go south and they call you, you can save the day by providing the zip to them.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Burning a project in idvd Question.

Hi, I have a project that claims its 5.7gb. I changed the burning disk to a 8gb so i would have plenty of room for the project. The movie is in large format and is only 1hr 17 min. When I burned the project it took about 3 hrs then it ejected with 5min left during the burn stage. It didnt burn any of the idvd project. I cant figure out what happened. Any help would be great!
    Thank you,
    chad

    Hi
iDVD doesn't care about Gs at all. I have 50Gbs movies that burn OK and 1Gbs that don't.
iDVD only cares about TIME (including DVD-menu - elaborate = less movie).
60 minute limit to Best Performance Quality - and -
120 minutes for - Pro Quality and High Quality
on Single Layer DVDs (about double ob DL-disks)
*I made a list on thoughts about DVD-Quality - se belove*
    1. iDVD 08 & 09 has three levels of qualities.
iDVD 6 has the two last ones
    • Professional Quality (movies up to 120 min.) - BEST
    • Best Performances (movies less than 60 min.) - High quality on final DVD
    • High Quality (in iDVD08 or 09) / Best Quality (in iDVD6) (movies up to 120 min.) - slightly lower quality than above
    2. From
    • FCE/P - Export out as full quality QuickTime.mov (not selfcontaining, no conversion)
    • iMovie x-6 - Don't use ”Share/Export to iDVD” = destructive even to movie project and especially so
when the movie includes photos. Instead just drop or import the iMovie movie project icon (with a Star on it) into iDVD theme window.
    • iMovie’08 not meant to go to iDVD. Go via Media Browser or rather use iMovie HD 6 from start.
    3. I use Roxio Toast™ to make an as slow burn as possibly eg x1 (in iDVD’08 or 09 this can also be set)
This can also be done with (Apple) Disk Util tool.
    4. There has to be about or more than 25Gb free space on internal (start-up) hard disk. iDVD can't
use an external one as scratch disk (if it is not start-up disc).
    5. Verbatim ( also recommended by many - Taiyo Yuden DVDs - I can’t get hold of it to test )
    6. DVD-R (no +R or +/-RW)
    7. Keep NTSC to NTSC - or - PAL to PAL when going from iMovie to iDVD
    8. Don’t burn more than three DVD at a time - but let the laser cool off for a while befor next batch.
    iDVD quality also depends on.
*• HOW much free space is there on Your internal (start-up) hard disk. Go for approx 25Gb.*
*less than 5Gb and Your result will most probably not play.*
    • What kind of movie project You drop into it. MPEG4 seems to be a bad choice.
other strange formats are .avi, .wmv, .flash etc. Convert to streamingDV first
Also audio formats matters. I use only .aiff or from miniDV tape Camera 16-bit
strange formats often problematic are .avi, .wmv, audio from iTunes, .mp3 etc
Convert to .aiff first and use this in movie project
    • What kind of standard - NTSC movie and NTSC DVD or PAL to PAL - no mix.
(If You need to change to do a NTSC DVD from PAL material let JESDeinterlacer3.2.2 do the conversion)
(Dropping a PAL movie into a NTSC iDVD project
(US) NTSC DVDs most often are playable in EU
(EU) PAL DVDs most often needs to be converted to play in US
UNLESS. They are plabacked by a Mac - then You need not to care
    • What kind of DVDs You are using. I use Verbatim DVD-R (this brand AND no +R or +/-RW)
    • How You encode and burn it. Two settings prior iDVD’08 or 09
Pro Quality (only in iDVD 08 & 09)
Best / High Quality (not always - most often not)
Best / High Performances (most often my choise before Pro Quality)
    1. go to iDVD pref. menu and select tab far right and set burn speed to x1 (less errors = plays better) - only in iDVD 08 & 09
(x4 by some and may be even better)
    2. Project info. Select Professional Encoding - only in iDVD 08 & 09.
    Region codes.
iDVD - only burn Region = 0 - meaning - DVDs are playable everywhere
DVD Studio pro can set Region codes.
    1 = US
    2 = EU

  • Can't burn iDVD project

    Hello,
I created a set of movies in iMovie and then created a project in iDVD (v7.0.4).
I imported the movies that play just fine when you click on the buttons in iDVD.
I checked and there are no errors in the hierarchical view and am ready to burn the project to a DVD.
I clicked the round DVD button and it requested that I insert a DVD. I inserted a DVD and it started to burn the project. After about 4 minutes (after it burns the drop zone pictures and begins to burn the movies), I get a dialog box saying "You inserted a blank DVD. Choose and action from the pop-up menu or click ignore." I've tried numerous options but continue to get this dialog box.
At the same time the above message appears another message appears in iDVD which says "Error during rendering/encoding."
I have found no error icons when viewing the project in hierarchical view. I have tried restarting my Mac. What could be going wrong?
    Please help. Thank you!

Please disregard this post, I solved the problem. Basically, I just created a brand new project in iDVD and re-imported all the movies. I don't know what problem there was in the earlier version but it's been resolved.

  • Difficulty burning iDVD project to disc

Help - My first try, and I'm tossing wrecked discs like frisbees! I've put together a lovely set of slideshows with soundtracks and set up an iDVD project to my liking (using a supplied theme), but can't get it to burn to DVD. I've checked out the burner by burning a DVD with a few BG's of compressed movies from iTunes (I needed to make some room anyway). I also managed to save my project as a .img file, which plays fine on the DVD player.
When I attempt to burn the project in iDVD, it goes through the whole process of rendering, encoding, inspecting, folding, spindling and mutilating (OK, I've forgotten all the steps), and it starts into burn mode: says it's burning the lead in, then a couple of seconds later it ejects the disc and says done. However, the process doesn't actually quit (even though it says done and nothing further happens), and when I press the cancel button it says "cleaning up" and then that's it ... seizes up and needs force quit to go on. No error messages are given when the disc is ejected. When I insert the disc back into the mac it recognizes it at first as an empty DVD, but shows up on the desktop as an empty CD-R not DVD. It is unreadable in a DVD player.
I looked through the troubleshooting section in support, and moved non-Apple files from the Library/Quicktime folder, and wasted yet another disc, not to mention the time it took to try to burn it.
Besides the obvious (DVD-RW would save a bit of plastic now, wouldn't it!), any thoughts??
    Many thanks for any hints!

    Thanks, F Shippey -
I tried burning the .img file, through the Finder (is that the same as doing it through Disk Utility? Probably not, but D.U. was not interested... see below) - didn't want to even start. So I found a DVD-RW disc - at first D.U. wouldn't erase it (unspecified error). Stubborn soul that I am, it finally worked the third time (ok I also rebooted in between). A direct burn of the .img file went through, but wasn't readable as a DVD (the player knew there were some mp3's on it somewhere...). So I erased it again, and tried a burn direct through the iDVD again. Success! And when it got done, it asked if I wanted to do another, so what the heck, I threw in one of the DVD-R discs - a new one off the spindle - and that worked too.
When I look at ANY of these discs on Disk Utility they all seem to say they're not writable when I choose the Information tab, even if they're identified as DVD-RW (Locked: Yes, Writable: No"). And yet, then they go on to be writable after all. That isn't right, is it?
I am starting to wonder if my superdrive is a little wonky. Either that or this spindle of DVD-R's is funky (Memorex - I'd have thought they'd be pretty reliable?). At any rate, I've been able to make it work this once, so, well, I'm not sure what. I'll keep plugging along.
I'll leave the thread as unanswered for a little bit, in case anyone has any other thoughts.
    Thank you all.
    L.

  • Error when trying to burn a project

I edited a video using iMovie HD 5. The video is a little over an hour long with audio. I indexed it using iDVD 5 and when I go to burn the DVD, I get this error message:
Your Project exceeds the maximum allowed content duration. You will not be able to burn your DVD.
Why will it not burn the project?

    Hi
Because: There are two quality levels with different limitations - in minutes !
*Best Performance* (my favourite choise) is for <60 min. (single layer DVD) or <120 min. (dual layer DVD).
*Best Quality* (not always so - most often not) is for <120 min. (single layer DVD) or <240 min. (dual layer DVD).
Gbs doesn't care in iDVD !
    iDVD 5 can't burn DL-DVDs
Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk - minimum 25Gb to get a good (working) result

  • Problem burning iDVD projects using external LaCie burner

I recently purchased a LaCie DL d2 DVD RW with LightScribe 16x from the LaCie company (12/07/2007). The LaCie burner is connnected via Firewire to my iMac. The iMac is a little over a year old and I am running Mac OS X (ver. 10.4.11).
The primary reason for my purchase was that I wished to create/burn iDVD projects on my iMac computer. The reason that I needed this product was due to the fact that, when I purchased my iMac, I made an error in judgement , and ordered it with a combo rather than a SuperDrive. So, while I am able to create iDVD projects and iMovies, I am unable to burn DVDs with of projects on the Combo Drive that came with the computer.
Thus far, however, I have not been able to burn a DVD with any of my iDVD projects. I am running iDVD 6 (ver. 6.04). When I attempt to “burn” a DVD disk the “Creating your DVD menu” appears. When I put in a blank DVD+RW 4x 4/7GB, it appears to go through the process (Prepare,,, Process Menus... Process Slideshows... Process Movies and Burn procedures). The DVD is then ejected and a message says that it is done and is “cleaning up.” However, that message never leaves the screen and when I click on the “Cancel” button, nothing happens. The iDVD application seems to lock up and I have to do a “force quit.”
I have tried this with three different projects, all with the same result. When I place the supposed “burned” DVD in the Combo Drive, it spins for a while and then kicks the DVD diskn out.
I have also tried launching Toast Titanium 7 (software that came with the LaCie burner). However, I see no place where I can “drag & drop” an iDVD project to the “drop zone.’ The closest thing seams to be “movies.” However, when I select that mode and go to my iDVD folder, all of the files are “grayed out.”
Can anyone help me out? Should I be able to burn iDVD projects with this unit? If so, what am I doing wrong.
Thanks for any help/advice that anyone can provide.
    Jeff White

open up Toast 7, click on Video tab, click on Image File and drag your img. file to Toast.
    John,
That's not correct. In Toast 7 you must use the Copy tab to burn a disk image to writable media. See page 94 of the Toast 7 manual.
(The procedure is slightly different for Toast 6 and Toast 8 but always involves using 'Copy')

    Hi
How much free space is there on Your Mac main Start-Up hard disk ? for
    • SD-video - I never go under 25Gb
    • HD-material used - I guess that x5 more would do.
Even as DVD is as standard SD-Video it needs space to scale down HD and Mac OS needs lot's for it's temp. files.
I do not "Finalize" or use "Share to iDVD" - but I do "Share to Media Browser" and as Large (not HD or other resolution as this will degrade the final result)

  • Why do my rollover buttons quit working when I burn my project to a DVD?

    Hi
I have a reel of my work built and everything functions when I simulate the project in DVD Studio Pro. However, when I burn the project to a DVD, my rollover buttons no longer work )and the quality of my work (menus, images, and videos) becomes very poor. I created my layered rollover buttons and menus using Photoshop. How can I resolve these issues?
    Thanks

Welcome to the discussions... Eric has the answer for you - you won't get a rollover effect when you use photoshop layer based menus because of the way that these become a series of different menus when the disc is built. You most certainly can get rollover effects if you use a standard overlay menu type.
The reasons for using a layer menu are largely confined to situations where you absolutely must reveal some contextual information when a user selects a button, and where this information must use a common area of the menu to all of the other buttons that do this. In all other situations avoid using them if you can, as they are so limited, offer slow playback to the end user, need more than one mouse click to activate a button and don't support audio or video backgrounds.
Use a standard overlay and you won't have these issues.

I made a DVD with photo's and music. On my Powerbook G4 he plays perfect. But after burning the project on my LaCie d2 lightscribe and showing the project on my TV than: after 10 min. the music stops for a few seconds. On the screen of the DVD-player I can see that after the word 'play' the clock starts again with counting the time. I tried everything: * burning slow. * all programs stopped, except iDVD. * all other apparature uncoupled. Is this a problem of my iDVD-program or my LaCie burner?

mishmumken is correct about the 99 slides.  There's an 99 chapter limit in each slideshow for DVDs and each photo is considered a chapter.  iDVD gets around that by renaming slide 100 back to 1 and goes on.
The pause can be minimized (but not eliminated) by burning to disk at the slowest speed available: usually 4x or 2x.  Save the project to disk (File ➙ Save to Disk menu option) and play the disk image with DVD player to check out the transition at 99 and 198.  Then burn the disk image to disk with Disk Utility at the slowest speed possible.  Also use top quality media: Verbatium, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
