RoboHelp 7: RB skips some of my topics and won't make an HTML page

Hi,
I'm new to RB7 for word, but I have managed to successfully create and modify an online manual with RB7 for Word.
I'm now trying to create a second online manual, and RB7 skips two of my topics and won't produce their HTML pages. I have tried renaming the topics, deleting one and recreating it from scratch, renaming the topic ID, deleting the folder where the HTML pages would go, nothing seems to work.
Why would RB7 skip two of my topics? I have tried to find differences between these two topics and the others, and I can't find anything.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Actually, this question is my very first post to this forum, and I created my account only this afternoon
To answer your questions (and add more explanation of what I'm doing):
1) Oops on the RB for HTML. RoboHelp was already installed on the computer I got, and all I see is RoboHelp for Word. I don't see an option for RB for HTML. I'll ask the IT guy.
2) My Word documents are long. I'm importing the Word docs to RB to create the online help. My topics in RB are the headings and subheadings from my Word doc. Some topics are long, but not all. Oddly enough, the two topics that are not being converted to HTML are very, very short.
3) To make my Long Word docs easier on RB, I split my Word doc into several smaller docs. So I have my Long Word doc for converting to PDF, and for RB, I make each chapter into its own word doc, and I import those.
4) In the RB TOC, I'm creating a book for each chapter title, and pages for each topic. BUT, if if I have subheadings within the chapter with subsubheadings, then I make the subheading a book, and make pages for the subsubheadings (I wanted to nest the pages instead, but I can't figure out how.)
5) Doing a bit of experimentation, I found that if I move the topic that won't convert to HTML up to the subheading/book above it, it gets converted to HTML. If I move it back to the level where I want it to be, it won't get converted to HTML.

Try resetting your iPad. Press and hold sleep button until slider shows up on screen. Shut down then start it up again.

RH 9 Search Ignores Some Words in Topic Title

RoboHelp 9.0.0.228/Server 9
WebHelp Pro
RH 9 Server reports indicates that end-users are not finding topics using keywords "kaiser" and "backorder." There are topics that contain these words and the words are actually included in each of the topic titles.
I checked the following:
Project settings. These words are not on stop list nor the ignore list.
Topic properties. The "exclude from search" box is not checked.
FYI - project was upgraded from RH x5 to RH 9.
Any suggestions on resolving this issue?

Hi Eva.
What happens if you search for those keywords when you launch the help via the Web Administrator? If they don't show up there, try generating webhelp output and seeing if they show in that. If they do, I'd delete the output from the server and republish to make sure you have an absolutely clean search database.
If none of this works, can you see if there is some rhyme or reason behind this. For example are all the unfound search terms from one RH project? What other search terms in those projects do work? That sort of thing.

Script single button to play frames, then skip some, and continue play?

Just as the topic says, I want to script a button to go to
and play through a motion tween, but then skip some frames to then
play another motion tween all in one button press. For example,
play frame 1 which plays the tween and ends at frame 10 (I have
that part down fine) but then for it to skip ahead to continue to
play frame 20 and then of course stop once it finishes that motion
tween.
Tried a few searches but its too many words to explain so I
wasnt finding anything. Its probably a simple command im just not
familiar with yet. Can anyone help?

I probably should have been more specific. I cant add
anything to the timeline because I have multiple buttons using the
first tween, which is a fade out. Thats why I need a script to add
to each button only to play through that first common tween, and
then skip to play an individual tween set for each button. Like
button 1 goes through the first common tween, a fade out (plays
frames 41 - 53) and its individual tween is frames 54 - 66. This
works fine of course because the tweens are next to each other.
Button 2's individual tween starts on frame 67, so it needs to play
through the common tween fade (41 - 53) skip Button 1's frames, and
continue play on 67. These buttons are located on frame 1 (main
menu) so is it even possible to script a button to do such a thing?
I figured there would be but nothing im trying or seeing online is
working. Heh... does this make sense? :o
The only other way I know it will work is if I copy and paste
all the information in the layers before each section but that
causes me to have to push a lot of information further down the
timeline, kinda making a big mess and causing me to rescript all
frames there.

GET PERNR skips some employees in the report

Hi all.
This is my first post in this forum. I'm beginner in ABAP programming and I've got a issue in my report that I don't succeed in solving it.
In the first line of the source code, within the start-of-selection event, I use the GET PERNR command to bring the employee personnel numbers. While I was debugging I've noted this command was skipping some employees. There isn't any line of code before the GET PERNR.
Do you have any ideia about what's happening?

here is another probably cause. The dates. It´s important that the employees,
are active in the infotype(I think that is Infotype 0), in the dates that check your program. It´s useful to know
the selection data period (pnpbegda/pnpendda), the employees selection data (pnpbegps/pnpendps), the radiobutton selection data (pn-begda/pn-endda), of the pnp logical d.b.selection screen. You can see the values of these fields debbuging Ah!, another point, start-of-selection & Get pernr, are differents events in the execution of an abap program.

There's not really any simple way to do this. Maybe tracking the page the user should be one from every page in the site and if the page being accessed is the same as the last one accessed, assume it was a refresh.

Unicode test conversion - skip some steps?

We will be upgrading our system from R/3 4.7x200 to ERP2005, and we have recently successfully upgraded our sandbox R/3 4.7x200 system to ERP2005, all pretty much without too much of a hassle. Now we are planning to do a unicode conversion on the same sandbox system, to get some idea about the runtime of such a conversion. The problem is that we are short on time, and I wonder what the effects will be if I skip some of the steps that should be done before we begin with the actual conversion phase (R3load). I have done some of the pre-conversion steps, but not all, and I wonder if there are some that I absolutely MUST do in order to get through the actual conversion?
In the end, we are not looking for a functioning system after this test conversion, we are only interested in the runtime and downtime findings.

You cannot skip same conversion step.
the good ideas is to use the released method by SAP to do upgrade/conversion at the same time. this will save you time.

When I google any topic and try to open teh weblink in fireox it opens some other link always. I think some malware links. Firefox version is 24.0.

My iPod nano skips some songs for no apparent reason

When i try to play songs on my iPod nano 7th gen, it skips some of them without playing.
The album art and track name shows up for a split-second and then it goes to the next track. Sometimes it skips several tracks by the same artist at a stretch. The songs the ipod keeps skipping play perfectly on iTunes. I tried erasing all the songs and sopying them again, but it didn't solve the problem. (I haven't tried restoring the ipod yet)

SQL Skips some records

I have installed SQL Server 2012 Standard Edition in a Server.
I have deployed 4 live databases in SQL Server 2012 and one live portal in IIS. (and a few other applications).
Problem:
In the last deployed database(4th ), when I process update operation(i.e., batch of more than 200000 records). It skips some update operations.
If I process single record which was skipped in batch again then it works okay.
Kindly let me know the solution asap.

You can try using Transaction at application level or at DB level to ensure that the update operation was successfully completed.

Moreover please review the update criteria. It is also possible that rows are skip due to the criteria while updating. Lastly ensure that table/rows are not locked while updating at the application level.

Playback of a Smart guitar recording track skips some notes.

I recorded a track using the Smart guitar in Garageband on my iPad2 and recorded a track of 130 bars. The recording was smooth and I could hear all chords and strings play well. However, when i play my recording, it skips several notes in between and I only hear broken audio. When I slide the track bar behind on the piece of track which skipped the notes, and play again, the recorded notes sound correct. Am I doing something wrong or is this an issue?

I have GarageBand on my iPad 2 and there are no latency problems with Smart Guitar during recording. I've encountered the problem only on the iPhone 4s. If I'm not mistaken, the iPad 2 and iPhone 4s have identical RAM amounts and identical processors, so I'm not sure what the problem is. Perhaps the software is not adequately optimized for the iPhone. I hope the GarageBand engineers are monitoring these forums....

RoboHelp 8 vs. 9 - Search Functionality Comparison and "All of the Words" vs. "Any of the Words"

Our organization focuses a lot on the accuracy of our searches, which is a necessity when we have hundreds of very lengthy topics (no matter how well organized they are).
I finally completed a detailed comparison of the search functionality of 8 and 9 and came to the realization that 8 is a disaster, while with 9 things get better, but there's still TONS of room for improvement. I have reported this to Adobe and so far there has been no official response. There are many blogs on here related to the search functionality, but I thought it may be a good idea to try to sum some of them up. I do hope that someone somewhere at Adobe runs into this and shares with all of us why Adobe's Search functionality is still in the 20th century!
I hope this helps everyone else who is curious to know about how the tool's search functions work and whether it's worth upgrading from 8 to 9 at this point. I have included some examples which are in a way internal to us, but they will give you a good idea of what to expect and I'm quite confident you'll be able to recreate them on your side in seconds.
I also wanted to ask a question or two, and if anyone can assist, that would be greatly appreciated:
Currently if we search for several words at once (not exact phrase), both 8 and 9 perform an "Any of the words" search which always returns too many results. Does anyone know a way to change the default to an "All of the words" search? For years I have not encountered a tool out there that doesn't have the option to modify this, alas with RoboHelp 8 and 9, we can't find a way to do it (with or without modifying the source code).
Out of curiosity, are there any other tools out there which offer Conditional Tag (or similar) functionality and which behave better than RoboHelp? (easier to maintain, less buggy, web interface, etc)?

1. Searching for Exact Phrase "Correspondent Banking"
Such a search returns topics which contain "Correspondent Banking" and "Correspondent Bank". The last one is included because "Bank" is the root of "Banking". The topics that contain the exact phrase appear at the bottom. When we click on any of them, we're not automatically taken to phrase so we have to scroll and look for it or use CTR+F.
Identical behavior except that when we click on the topics which contain the exact phrase, we're taken straight to it.
When we hear "exact" we expect "exact" and nothing else. Unfortunately, both versions keep searching for the roots of each word as well and incorrectly display those results at the top. Adobe has made it clear that this is a part of their functionality, BUT this is something we would not expect to see for exact phrase searches that are in quotes.
2. A Non-Exact phrase search of "Geographical Limits of market area"
The tool automatically performs an "Any of the Words" search instead of an "All of the Words" search. This is also related to the question I asked above this table. As you can imagine, this is returning almost every topic and it becomes virtually impossible to find what we're looking for. It even returns topics which contain "of" and nothing else.

There to be an option which allows us to choose what the default search would be - "Any of the words" vs. "All of the Words"
3. Exact Phrase search of "low-score" with a dash
None of the topics that were returned contain the phrase. As some of you know, RH8 has problems with special characters, including dashes.
RH9 returned only the topic that which contains the phrase and we were taken straight to it when we open it.
The expectation is to see exactly what RH9 currently offers. Unfortunately 8 has a big problem with these types of searches.
4. Exact Phrase search of "2.4"
This is similar to the one above. Adobe doesn't like periods as well. It doesn't not find any of the topics which contain this phrase. In our case, this is a section number and sometimes people want a quick way to get to a specific section or sub-section.
We were hoping that this will be fixed with 9, just the way they fixed the dashes. Unfortunately, still ZERO results returned.
Expectation is for the topics which contain that exact phrase to be returned, no matter whether there's any special character inbetween.
5. Exact Phrase search of "300,000" or $300,000"
The tool only returned several random topics which contain "000" as part of larger numbers. The topic that contains "300,000" was not on that list, even though it also contains "000".
Identical behavior
Expectation is for topics that contain the exact amount to be returned, no matter if there is a coma or a dollar sign anywhere within the phrase.
6. Exact Phrase Search of "525-B5". Goal was to have a special character, a letter and numbers.
ZERO Results returned.
Only the docs that contain the phrase were returned and nothing else. It seems that this this was addressed in version 9 and now it behaves as expected.
Expectation is only for the docs that contain the exact phrase to be returned.
7. Exact phase search of "log" in order to test the Substring Functionality
Here's an extract from Adobe's Support Site:
“Substring search (WebHelp/Pro, FlashHelp/Pro) - If you enable this feature, a search for "log" returns topics containing the words "catalog" and "logarithm." Substring search takes longer than whole-string search.”
So with that in mind, we decided to test if turning the substring searches on and off does exactly as advertised, unfortunately the answer was NO. We even used an example almost idnetical to what Adobe provided on their site.
With Substring Searches disabled, we searched for the word "log". Unfortunately it returned words like "logbook" and methodology". How is that possible?
Identical behavior
Our expectation would be only for docs that contain"log" to be returned, no matter whether substring is enabled or disabled. In our case it was disabled.

Out of curiosity, why is it that you expect to hear from Adobe? I'm hoping it's not simply because you posted here. Certainly we have Adobe folks that visit here and we are thankful for that, but it isn't to be expected.

Switching on topics and TOC items.

Using Robohelp 9. Webhelp output.
I am creating the help file for a product with an add-on feature. If clients pay for the add-on, we turn on a switch in the code(SINGLE CODE BASE) and they get access to additional screens and data elements.
Is there anyway to mimic this in the help file? So, when we turn on the switch in the code, we somehow get access to additional content in the help. Topics and in the TOC.

Not trying to dissuade you from your approach here, but it's something to consider.
Several years ago I did some work for an employer that also offered software that worked much as you describe. The help system was antiquated and they were in the process of bringing it into the Windows platform from being DOS based. I described to the owner of the company that we could fashion the help so they only had help for what was installed. His response was eye opening for me.
His response?
NO, I want the customer to always have ALL the help as if they had purchased every module. By seeing the help and what is possible to achieve with other modules, perhaps it would entice them to later purchase the additional modules!
Something to consider. It certainly made me think differently about this aspect... Rick

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information.
Note: ''This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.''
To Reset Firefox do the following:
#Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
#Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
#Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
#Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.
