Robohelp 8 JavaHelp and Oracle Help

It is said that JavaHelp Help and Oracle Help can be the output format of RoboHelp project in the help of RoboHelp. But I can not find a way to generate JavaHelp or Oracle Help. Could you tell me does RoboHelp 8 support it?
Generate and publish output from the command prompt. I use the command as below:
  "e:\test_RoboHelp\robotest\robotest.xpj -l WebHelp -o E:\test_RoboHelp\a"
"e:\test_RoboHelp\robotest\robotest.xpj" is a project which does exist. But Why the output folder is not "E:\test_RoboHelp\a" as I have set?
by the way, Does RoboHelp have a plan to support HTML Help 2.x?

Hi there
Indeed RoboHelp *CAN* produce JavaHelp and Oracle Help as advertised. However, it isn't configured out of the box to do this. I consider it to be similar to advertising that a pickup truck (errr, sorry Peter, Craig and Colum - I mean LORRY) is able to tow a Boat or a Camper to a lake. Sure, you can tow these items, but there are a few requirements!
You must have a Boat or Camper to tow
You need to install the optional towing package
In order to produce these help output types you will need to separately install the Java Development Kit. Fellow Adobe Community Expert Peter Grainge has some information on his site at the link below.
Click here to visit Peter's site
That covers JavaHelp. I'm unsure about Oracle Help, but would expect it to be similar.
Are we to assume the code referring to E:\test... is your own code?
If so, I see an issue with it. E:\ likely refers to a network location. In my many years of supporting RoboHelp via the forums I can't begin to tell you how many folks have arrived reporting issue after issue after issue that was caused by working on projects while they are stored on network locations.
HTML Help 2 never took off for public use. Mostly Microsoft used it internally. As there is no real generic public outcry for it, I'd be shocked if RoboHelp were to suddenly begin offering it. If you would like to cast your vote for it to be added as an output option, visit the Wish Form.
Hopefully this helps... Rick

  • Migrating from JavaHelp to Oracle Help for Java

Currently we have a product in which we have implemented Sun Microsystem's JavaHelp as the Help delivery system. However, after evaluating Oracle Help for Java we would like to migrate from Javahelp to OHJ.
My question is, how difficult would this migration be from the Development side? I have been reviewing the Oracle Help for Java Developer's Guide and comparing it against the JavaHelp documentation but I haven't been able to get a clear idea of how different the implementation is.
    Thanks,
    Theresa

    Hello Theresa,
    Thanks for considering Oracle Help.
There isn't much you have to do with your source content and control files. With the exception of the full text search index, the Oracle Help control file formats (helpset, index, map, etc.) extend the JavaHelp formats. So you can use the JavaHelp control files as is, or you can extend them with the Oracle Help extensions. For a quick overview of differences, see the following page in the Oracle Help Guide:
    1. Go to http://otn.oracle.com/ohguide/help/.
    2. Click "Oracle Help File Formats."
    3. Click "Comparision to Javahelp File Formats."
To create an Oracle Help full text search index, run through the Helpset Authoring Wizard and remove the existing JavaHelp search view and have the wizard generate an Oracle Help Search index
on the following wizard page. For the Helpset Authoring Wizard doc:
    1. Go to http://otn.oracle.com/ohguide/help/.
    2. Click "Authoring Oracle Help Systems."
    3. Click "Using the HelpSet Authoring Wizard."
Alternatively, change the helpset file by hand. For the doc:
    1. Go to http://otn.oracle.com/ohguide/help/.
    2. Click "Oracle Help File Formats."
    3. Click "Helpset File."
Then run the indexer. For doc:
    1. Go to http://otn.oracle.com/ohguide/help/.
    2. Click "Authoring Oracle Help Systems."
    3. Click "Using the Full-text Search Indexer."
On the development side, the APIs are different, but they are also very
simple. You create a Help object, add HelpSets, and associate topic-ids
with java UI components using the CSHManager as described in the
    Oracle Help Guide:
    1. Go to http://otn.oracle.com/ohguide/help/.
    2. Click "Oracle Help for Java Developer's Guide."

  • Instructions needed for importing a RoboHelp - Oracle Help file

Please provide instructions for importing a RoboHelp, Oracle Help file into an Oracle 8 software application.
    Thank you,
    Jennifer Byrne

The Oracle Help Guide documents how to program applications to support Oracle Help. Have you looked at it? The Guide is included with the downloads of Oracle Help for Java (OHJ) and Oracle Help for the Web (OHW) and you can also find it directly on OTN at http://otn.oracle.com/docs/tech/java/help/content.html.
But I'm not sure I understand your question completely. What do you mean by "import" the help into the application? I assume you are referring to programming the application to integrate the help into it; hence my suggestion to refer to the Oracle Help Guide, above. But perhaps I'm missing something. Also, what kind of application do you have? Is it a Java application?

  • Oracle Help search feature doesn't work with RoboHelp generated output

I am using RoboHelp HTML, Version 10 on Windows 7.  I am able to generate Oracle Help output and integrate it with my Java application.  When I do this, the Content and Index tabs work fine, but the Search feature does not. Regardless of what search term I try, I get no search results.  In generating the Oracle Help output, I used the default options throughout.
Any suggestions as to what is causing this problem?
    Thanks.

    Dear Peter,
I met the following problem, and please help me.
My English (not Chinese) operating system: Windows XP
    Version: 2002
Before using RoboHelp 7 to generate Webhelp, I perform the
    following steps:
    1. Control Panel->Regional Options
    2. On the "Languages" page make sure make sure you check the
box "Install files for East Asian languages".
    3. On the "Advanced" page select "Chinese" from the language
    dropdown list.
Then I perform the following steps:
    1. Use RoboHelp 7 to generate Webhelp (my Webhelp project
    contains localized Chinese files).
    2. In the "Search" tab, input a Chinese character(For example
    "连接") and perform a seach.
    Result: Serching...(or 正在搜索) or
    No topics found (or
    未找到主题)。
Expected result: I can get the result.

OHJ 4.2.0 features a new Ice Browser and enhancements related to the known modal dialog problem. It requires JDK 1.3 and is a recommended upgrade for all clients using JDK 1.3 or higher.

4.1.17 appears to work correctly with RoboHelp.
4.2 gives an error when attempting to generate fts.idx via RoboHelp.

When I import my help in application search doesn't work. How
to generate help without any exceptions?

    Hi!
I'm still having the same problem I was hoping to find some solution, because it is really annoying.
I've noticed that this exception occurs after some minor modification in topic text (e.g. correcting a grammar mistake). Also, after generating JAVA help and viewing the results, the topics which have "?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ? at the beginning, won’t be displayed correctly and won’t be found in the search results.
So, I was not able to find the problem, although my colleague can modify the same help projects, and won’t get the same exception. So, my PC was changed, Robo Help installed freshly, but this problem still remains .
    Well, any clues?

  • RoboHelp versus Oracle Help

I'm new to using Oracle 10G. After reviewing several rdms's I've picked Oracle 10G as my rdms. I'm trying to build an ecommerce site using DreamWeaver MX 2004 and Oracle 10G. The website will be selling hardware and software products. I have a choice in DreamWeaver to go for a .asp or .jsp setup. I have several questions, here goes:
    1. Is there any book/tutorial/whitepaper out there that describes building an ecommerce site using Oracle 10G/9I/8I? Just some examples as how to make the datamodel regarding the shopping basket etc.
    2. I prefer DreamWeaver as it let's me make nice looking css style based pages without throttling too much through the code. Are there Oracle tools which allow me to make an advanced nice looking ecommerce site?
I hope some of you can help me get started. Any effort is appreciated.

  • Need help -- Oracle Financial 11i vs r12 (Oracle Payable and Oracl Payment)

    Dear all
I'm newbie in Oracle Application and request for your help to answer my questions.
    Background:
Three years ago, my company was planning to implement ERP Oracle Financials.
To facilitate the plan, an open bidding was established to find the best implementing company with affordable price.
The bidding document was created when Oracle Financials was 11i.
When the contract was signed 2 years ago, by my company and the winning company, it is mentioned that the version installed must be the latest one.
At the response to requirements, the winning company stated that the payment activity will be facilitated by Oracle Payable.
Now, the project is going on and the Oracle has the r.12 version.
    Problem:
At 11i, there was only one module related to payment activities, i.e. Oracle Payable.
At r.12, Oracle has a new modul, i.e. Oracle Payment, which was subdomain of Oracle Payable.
    Question:
    1. Is my opinion about the relationship between Oracle Payable and Oracle Payment above correct?
    2. Does my company has its right to ask for Oracle Payment in the installation?
    3. If the answer to number 2 is yes, what is the base for it?
    Thank you for explanation.
    Sorry if I raise a too-simple question.
    Regards,
    Dodydh

    Hi Dodydh,
I am afraid, your statement 'At r.12, Oracle has a new modul, i.e. Oracle Payment, which was subdomain of Oracle Payable.' is not correct.
Oracle Payments is an upgrade version of Oracle iPayments of 11i and this module is expected to serve Self service modules. But Payment Batches which is part of Oracle Payables has been moved to Oracle Payments.
You can very well ask them to implement Payment Batches (Processes relating to Funds Disbursement) but not the entire module.
Please let me know if you require further info.

  • Can I use RoboHelp to support localization and generate help files in multiple languages?

    Hi,
Can I use RoboHelp to support localization and generate help
    files in multiple languages?
Can I define a layout or template for RoboHelp to insert
localized strings into the template and generate a localized help
    file?
    Thanks!

Hi newbie_r and welcome to the RH community.
You don't say what version of RH you have but the latest
version (RH7) has Unicode Support that allows you to produce help
files in most languages. The exceptions are mainly the right to
    left languages (e.g. arabic, hebrew).
As far as the template is concerned, you can assign any text,
image to a template and it will be applied to any topics you assign
    the template to.
If you haven't already, I'd download the trial version and
experiment a bit. Set up a template with what you want and then
create a couple of simple help files containing just a few topics
each. That will reassure you of RH7s capabilities in this
    area.

  • Oracle Help in RH8, not working as it did before

We're building Oracle Help in Robohelp & recently
upgraded to RH8. When I delivered the files to our dev team, the

When I try to load the Oracle Help I get the following error

    to: <?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8' ?>
I have no idea what this means or what I'm supposed to do.
Obviously something changed in RH8 that affects the build but I
have no idea what our dev team is supposed to do to make it work.
    Any suggestions?
