RoboHelp 8: Loading time of TOC in FireFox

I am using RoboHelp 8. After I generated my help and deployed it on a web server, I noticed that my TOC loads instantly in IE, just like it should. However, when I access my web help in FireFox, it takes around 2 minutes to load the TOC in FF. I am using IE 8 and FireFox 3.6.9. Any solution to this?

I took the lead from the forums here and compared files between the correct and incorrect deployment. All files were present, however we started on a hunch that perhaps it was a problem with the configuration files. I took the files of the good server and pasted them on the problematic server and viola the TOC was behaving like it should!!!! I narrowed it down to two files which are creating a problem i.e whphost.js and whutils.js.

I had gotten a similar problem, except with "provider services", i believe, but i solved it by copying sqlite3.dll from E:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support to E:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support. doing that solved my first problem, but now i have been getting the error described in this topic (unable to load dataclass info... etc.). i tried reinstalling itunes (i already had 9.1.1, and thats what i reinstalled) by using the method described on apples site (using the "remove programs" tool in the control panel) and then downloading and installing itunes. when i opened it again, i still got the same error, and just now i got an error saying "the instruction at "0x00aadb6b" referenced memory at "0x00000008". the memory could not be read" it gave me the option to cancel and debug, or to press ok and terminate the program. I tried pressing cancel, and the popup went away but nothing else happened. a minute later the popup was back, so i pressed ok and itunes quit. Upon opening Itunes again, i got the very same error. sorry for the long post, but its really been bugging me. thanks for any help you might give, and if you need anymore info, feel free to contact me.

I'm having the same problem. Dreamweaver is supper slow. Uploading and downloads from the server... any server I use two different servers. It times out all the time. Menus are slow too.
I'm on a MAC Pro, 6 gigs of ram no issues with anything else. I have talked to Apple they have checked everything for me. They say it's Dreamweaver. I've noticed the Dreamweaver is talking to the FTP even when I'm not doing anything.
I've tried cleaning out my MAC caches, turning off file check and check out. Still really slow. I've worked with Dreamweaver for 6 years never any issues like this before. 18 seconds to upload a 4 kb file. 11 seconds to download the same file.

  • Every time I start up Firefox, it checks for plugin updates. All my plugins are up to date, but it continues to load the plugin site. How do I make it stop?

Starting on Fri. 6/10/11, every time I start up Firefox 3.6.17, it loads the plugin update site. Initially, it said my Adobe reader plugin was out of date. Therefore I updated that plugin, yet that did not fix the problem. So I was finally forced to disable the plugin. After doing this, the plugin updates check still runs every time I start FF. However, they all come back up to date.
So my question is how do you make this plugin update check stop running. I had made no changes to firefox prior to this.

There's a fault with the blocklist.xml file which was updated on Friday, it should be fixed on Monday and you should get the updated file on Monday or Tuesday.

  • The first time I try to load video on BBC website, firefox crashes. When I restart it, the video loads. This happens EVERY TIME I start a new internet session. WHY?

I am using a mac, and every time I turn it on, load the BBC website on firefox and then try to load a video there, firefox crashes. I select restart from the two options provided, and when it reloads the BBC page, I can watch that video and any other on the site without problems. Then, if I shut the mac down and turn it on again, the problem once again occurs. Is this just a bug in firefox?

Do a clean reinstall and delete the Firefox program folder before (re)installing a fresh copy of the current Firefox release.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    *Firefox 20.0.x: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
Uninstall your current Firefox version, if possible, to cleanup the Windows registry and settings in security software.
*Do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you will lose all personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    *(32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
    *(64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.

Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
If you keep having problems then also create a new profile.

  • Page load time differences between IE and Firefox

    Hello all,
I have a problem with page loading time in IE 8. My page contains tabular form, classic report and some other items. I use some javascript code(placed in HTLM Header section) and also dynamic actions. When I try to display the page in IE I have to wait for 40 seconds (100 rows in tabular form). I realized that the performance is dependent on the number of displayed rows in the tabular form. But decrease the number of visible rows, using pagination, is not an option, because all needed rows should be visible for the users. During the tests I have tried to remove all the JS code and disable all the dynamic action, but the loading time was more or less the same.
When I try to run the same page in FireFox then it is displayed in 4 seconds!
I have already try to search some tips or advices how to speed up the page loading, but only what I have found out is, that every web browser is different. The javascript is handled differently, page rendering is done differently and so on.
Maybe there is something what I have missed, and you experts can help me. Is there anything general what I should check or change to speed up the loading time in IE?
    Thanks in advance!

    APEX v. 4.2.1.00.08
    IE 8.0.7600.16358
    FF 19.0.2

    Thanks Denes for your reply.
I use HttpWatch tool to measure the loading times. Reports are mostly the same for IE and FF. I can see from the report, there is three times shown error 404 Not Found for the items below.
    http://......./images/sRegion-Body.png
    http://......./images/sRegion-Bottom.png
    http://......./images/sReportBG-Standard.png
The last action which caused 404 error started 2 seconds after the page was asked to refresh. The next action http://......../i/libraries/jquery-ui/1.8.22/ui/i18n/oracle/jquery.ui.datepicker-cs.js started after 38 seconds (hanging in the same place for 36 seconds). Does it mean that the problem is caused by http://......./images/sReportBG-Standard.png action which returns 404 error?
How can I add the missing images?

  • Stunnigly slow load time. It isn't my system, because both Chrome and Safari load in less han ten seconds. Firefox is too bloated.

Folks, I don't use Firefox much anymore. Why? Because the load time has become ridiculous. Chrome and Safari both load in less than ten seconds. Firefox can take up to a minute. And usually does. It has become bloated. It has lost the intent. You say the fox is the fastest? It isn't. Either in load time or search time. Chrome smashes the fox. Simpler, cleaner, faster. Isn't that what Firefox was all about in the beginning? You folks need to take a giant back step.

Agreed...I'm considering jumping ship. Too many crashes, hangs constantly, too many secure sites the server can longer find even though they've been bookmarked for ages, takes forever to load and plug-in issues galore. It's sad, the last 6 months have been horrendous and nothing is getting fixed with all the constant updates. No one should have to clear cookies and cache as much as is always suggested here just to get pages to load that load on other browsers with no problem.

  • Firefox spry region load time

In the site that I am creating, I have several spry regions,
as well as a small video that plays. The problem is that in firefox
(and no other browser to my knowledge), none of the spry data will
load until after the video is completely loaded, causing some
annoying load times for the information on the page. Is there any
way to code the video to not load until all other page elements are
done loading? This is the site:
    www.vcharvesters.org/mission_trips.html
Thank you to anyone who can offer me some guidance on
    this

Upgrading to FF 15 didn't help.. probably have to downgrade to Catalyst 12.6. It seems to be an AMD problem. I wanted to report this issue on their support forums, but creating a new account didn't allow me posting privileges. What a great support system! O.o

  • Everytime I open Firefox - it takes a really long time and reopens the Firefox Update tab that says "Choose your Persona" and "More ways to Personalize" tab along with my regular home page tab. Sometimes it tries to load the add ons too and takes a reall

Every time I open Firefox it tries to install the same updates (that I don't want) and the Firefox 3.6 "Choose Your Persona" etc. tab opens along with my home page tab. It takes a really long time to get onto Firefox because of these problems.

    Every time Firefox opened
    == Don't remember

Well, this worked on my desktop! But my problem is on my laptop. :-) I'm running XP, but there was no "Username" under Documents and Settings under the C drive. I did a search for those file names and it wasn't there. I found Mozilla Firefox folder under: C\Documents and Settings\ All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Mozilla Firefox. There are 2 - 1 is Mozilla Firefox (shortcut) and the other is Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode). I did a Mozilla Firefox search and this is all that showed up.
When I click on the shortcut link (the 1st one), it opens up 2 screens of Firefox. One is the "this is embarrassing" screen. The other is "Choose your Persona" screen. I closed it and reopened and it took me to my home page.

  • ICloud load times are extremely slow

Since moving to iCloud my web interface is nearly unusable with iCloud.  I also had slow load times with MobileMe to the point I was nearly going to quit using it.
On the iCloud system at times I'll load up the page and the mail will just fail to load. Other times I'll try to search for mail and it will hang up, I'll come back 10-15 minutes later and it will have either quit searching, or still have not found anything.
I'm using the most recent version of Firefox and Windows 7 64 bit.

I'm having the same issues, no matter if I use OS X or Windows to check my mail.  Searching is virtually useless and keeps me hanging forever.  I can't even search for items on my phone any longer - it NEVER seems to find anything that I'm looking for if it's not in my immediate Inbox.
C'mon Apple - this is something Google has been doing for years with Gmail.  You've got to fix these nagging issues.

  • Why aren't videos loading on Safari but they are loading quickly and effortlessly on Firefox?

For example... I attempted to watch a music video on Vevo.com on Safari but the video wouldn't load. I then tried loading the same video on Firefox and it loaded almost instantly. I appreciate your time and hope to hear from someone soon

That site definitely requires the Flash plugin for streaming music video content.
Try troubleshooting the Flash plugin >  Troubleshoot Flash Player | Mac OS
And try deleting Flash cookies >  Flush.app – Flash Cookie Removal Tool For OS X | MacHacks.TV
    And empty your Safari cache.

  • Windows Compatibility (IE) / Load Time / PNG Files

I host my website on Mobile Me and have had several Windows users look at my site complaining about load time and scrolling issues (up and down the frame is jumpy). I have heard that some older versions of IE cannot work with PNG files very well. I suppose this "may" be the issue. Any thoughts on how to get the web site working more smoothly for those people on Windows using IE? Also, some Firefox users have stated they too have issues when viewing via a Windows a system. Thanks...

  • Firefox wont load pages completely after removing firefox cache

Every Time i remove my firefox cache you tube and yahoo and other pages wont load completely or will load with errors. Anyone know why this is happening?

Sometimes you only disable the user interface of security software, but the firewall services are still running in the background.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

  • Sudden increase in webpage loading time

I´ve had a Mac Mini (1 Gig of RAM) for over three years. It´s connected to a router Zyxel Prestige 660HW-61 via Ethernet. My internet connection is 3 Mbps down. Web surfing has been fine until last week when I noticed a sudden and dramatic increase in the time web pages took to load, to the extent that they fail to load more often than not.
When browsing threads for possible causes, I found this one: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2059511&start=0&tstart=0
As suggested by Boece, I restarted my Mini and run nothing but Safari (4.x) and Activity Monitor to watch the outs-to-ins ratio while Safari tried to load a page. Page outs remained at 0% for the duration of the test (around 40 minutes testing sites such as IMDB and Youtube and running a few google searches)
Next I installed Firefox (3.5) and Camino and run the same test to see how my DNS setup performed. Page outs remained at 0% again and page-loading time was painfully slow with the new browsers.
Time to switch over to OpenDNS. I installed the OpenDNS domain name servers in both the router and the Mini instead of those provided by my ISP, restarted the Mini and run the same tests with Safari, Firefox and Camino. Unfortunately, I didn´t notice any improvements at all.
I´m not aware of any anti-virus or malicious-website protection software installed on the Mini or in the browsers.
I don´t have MS Office installed and only one Dashboard widget (iStats Pro)
Web surfing is fine with my Dell laptop and donwload speeds with the Mini, though I´ve been unable to test them via websites (pages failed to load), seem fine after having downloaded a few bittorrent files using Transmission.
Whatever the problem, it also applies, perhaps not surprisingly, to MacTubes. It fails to both play and download youtube videos.
Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help.
