Robohelp 8 Runtime Error

I've recently upgraded my laptop, and had to reinstall RoboHelp 8. While I have the same operating system (Windows XP Professional), the version of Internet Explorer was upgraded from 6 to 7. The installation went without a hitch, and RoboHelp HTML launches fine, but it throws a runtime error (with no number) when I try to open my existing project. Runtime error reads:
               Runtime Error!
               Program: ...ogram Files\Adobe\Adobe RoboHelp 8\RoboHTML\RoboHTML.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
No debugging data provided. Repeated twice with the same results.
Any suggestions on what to do next? Do I need a patch? Thanks!

I'm wondering if she is checking in files that shouldn't be checked in.

  • RoboHelp 8 HTML runtime error on version control sync

I have a user of RoboHelp 8 HTML that is receiving a runtime error after opening a project that syncs files from our revision control server with RoboSource. When she receives the error there are no error codes just a very "generic" error.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled all the Adobe programs on her laptop and updated any Microsoft C++ Packages.
I have found a work around for the problem but it still doesnt resolve the original issue of crashing when she opens the project. To not get the runtime error she created an empty project and opened it first. Once we close that project she can open the project that gives the error with no issues.
I'm at a loss of what the issue could be as I have eliminated many issues including user based profiles issues as she logged onto a different computer with RoboHelp and was able to open the project with no issues.
    Any ideas anyone?

  • Robohelp 7 - Runtime error when publishing

    Hi all -
Of course I have a go live tomorrow night, and when I tried to publish changes tonight, I am getting a runtime error -
I've never had this problem before. I have tried rebooting, didn't help. I closed all open apps, no help. I have not made any changes to Robo, well - obviously if I'm using 7.0. I pushed changes as recently as 3 days ago without any issue.
I looked at some other threads, don't see anything that seems to point to a problem. When I get the error message, it closes immediately, which prevents me from viewing the debug info. I checked the Dr Watson log file, but it is not populated, so no help there.
Anyone experience this before? I'm running Windows XP Professional, SP3, i7 CPU, M620 @ 2.67GHz
Ready to tear my hair out...
    Thanks.

There are a number of threads on this problem, I hope one helps. Here are two examples.

  • RoboHelp 7 Crash - MS Visual C Runtime Error

I have been using RH7 for many months. Today, I was using Single Source Layout > Printed Documentation > Properties. And it crashes without doing any more than looking at the dialogue; sometimes when setting the location for the output.
I get a Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library "Runtime Error" - RoboHTML.exe ... "The app has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application's support team for more information."
This has now happened 3 times in a row.  On one occasion I was warned of a corrupted $StylePrepFile.htm, which I deleted and tried again.
I have rebooted; I have run Norton SystemWorks diagnostics to repair system errors. But it's still doing it.
I have tried deleting the CPD file, but it still crashes on this project. When I click on the OK button in the error message dialogue, RH disappears instantly. But you cannot re-open RH and then open the project again because it tells me it is locked by another instance of RH. I looked in Task Manager, and RoboHtml.exe is still loaded. I have to delete it here before I can reopen it and load the project.
A thought: I have been trying RH8 in Trial mode, and decided not to upgrade just yet; so I uninstalled it. Would this cause problems with RH7? If so, how do I fix it?
    Any ideas anyone?

Thank you for your suggestion, Peter. I tried it and this is what happened.
I had trouble with two separate printed doc layouts. So I loaded a recent backup copy of the project, and tried adding a new Print layout. I used the same conditional build tags. I built the output, which went through its normal slow processing, and then, at the end, I got an error message like this:
The Output View showed a long log of the build:

As you see, this is full of Warnings - I think it reports every topic as Malformed.
The final output is a word doc that fails to load when I double-click on the filename.
If I load MS Word 2003 and load the file, it disables Word such that where the document should view, the area is white all over and the scroll bars are disabled. I can switch between Normal View, Print view etc, but all look the same white area.
If I load a "good" word document, the same problem - all white and no text. Something has gone badly wrong. See short movie:
RH7 does not offer the option of a repair, so I would have to uninstall and reinstall.
This is an important Help project, so I've got to fix it somehow...
    Any idea, anyone?

  • Runtime Error in File Preview of RH7 - Immediate help needed!

    Dear all,
we're working on a RoboHelp 7 project under version control.
Today we encountered a major issue with ur project/database. When opening files in the preview window, they are displayed without error. As soon you click on a link within this file that leads to another HTML file, you get a pop-up with a runtime error message. You're asked either to debug or not. Selecting no displays a second runtime error with the same question. After also declining, you get to the selected HTML file.
We have two major sorts of files: Chapter overview pages and topic files. Both are based on the same Style Sheet (CSS) and template. For the overview files the layout is just changed a bit when you create the file. Further there are some extra files don't use the template.
Now I recognized some kind of logic:
    - When you open an overview-file, the two pop-ups always refer to runtime errors in line 46 and 49.
    - When you open a topic file, the two pop-ups always refer to runtime errors in line 50 and 53.
    - When you open a file that is blank and not based on the template, there's no error.
Until now, the error never occured. But since today (or maybe last week und we didn't recognize), this error comes up even for files that were created months ago and never had an error before. They were changed today automatically when a renamed a chapter. Even within our "clean and working" backups we now encounter this error.
    Questions:
    - Can anyone explain, what a runtime error is at all?
    - My assumption is, that it has something to do with the CSS or template, but I'm not sure. What can be wrong there?
    - To what lines do the specifications in the pop-up refer to? Where can I find those lines?
As we are in a very critical project phase, I really need your assistance for a quick and effective solution. Please help me as soon as possible!! Thanks!!

    Hi Tom
Here is my own educated guess.
When you have links of any type in a HTML document, a calculation has to occur at the time they are created. The application has to calculate where the linked item is in relation to the existing page. Then HTML shorthand is created to navigate. Up a folder level is ../ and up two folder levels is ../../. Stuff like that.
Popups are a different story. While you are still creating links, these beasties are actually handled using JavaScript. So the path is supplied in the call to the JavaScript.
As if that weren't complex enough, we now toss Headers and Footers into the mix. Headers and Footers are tied to the Master Page. The Master Page is always in the root level of the project. Links in a Header and Footers often break because of the assorted locations of HTML pages if you are using folders to organize your project. So when you create the link initially as part of the Master Page, things are dandy and as long as the topic is in the project root folder (same as the Master Page) things would likely work fine. But if that Master Page is associated with a topic inside a folder level or two down, things can go to pot in a hurry! (Where are we all headed? And what's with the handbasket?)
Hopefully this helps shed some possible explanation... Rick

  • RH8 for Word 2003. Runtime Error 5152: Cant move focus to control

Hi, I am trying to open a word file from the RoboHelp source files and am getting the following error:
Runtime Error '5152': Can't move focus to the control because it is invisible, not enabled, or of a type that does not accept the focus.
I am using Word 2003 and RoboHelp 8. I didnt not change anything in the code, its a RoboHelp provided code. RH was installed with my netword id and with admin rights. When I click debug, it highlights the following piece of code.
    Private Function IsRoboHookLoaded() As Boolean
        IsRoboHookLoaded = False
        ' No addins, not loaded
        If (AddIns.Count = 0) Then
            GoTo IsRoboHookLoadedExit
        End If
        For i = 1 To AddIns.Count
            AddInName$ = LCase$(AddIns.Item(i).Name)
            If (AddInName$ = "robohook.wll") Then
                If (AddIns.Item(i).Installed = True) Then
                    IsRoboHookLoaded = True
                    Exit For
                End If
            End If
        Next
    IsRoboHookLoadedExit:
    End Function
Also, when I click end and try to close the Document, I get another error:
Runtime Error '5152': Method 'Name' of Object 'AddIN' failed.
It again highlights the same piece of code on debug.
Can you please suggest why this might be so?
    Thanks in advance.
    - Shubs

The formatting is lost if the robohelp.dot template is not present in the same folder as the word document I am trying to open (and edit). The template is still present under application data\templates. Below are your answers:
So if you have the robohelp.dot in the application data\templates folder and open the project and the doc, the fomatting is gone in the doc and it is is plain text, correct? - Yes
Are any styles attached to the text at all? - Yes
For instance if you highlight what was a heading 1, is it still heading 1? - Yes - It still shows as heading 1, but not as big and coloured as the headings in documents with robohelp.dot
if you create a new help project, do you run into the same problem? - Yes
I tried copying the styles from robohelp.dot to my document, but still it doesn't reflect the changes.
I want to be able to open the document (with the robohelp template and its styles attached to it) and edit it, without changing any styles/formatting.
I am not an expert on this but my feeling is it has something deeper to do with other than just the location of the template or the styles. There should be a reason for  the runtime error 5152: "Can't move focus to control....".

  • Runtime error 104

My former manager created a helpfile using Adobe Robohelp for
HTML 7. The helpfile is now off being tested on XP and Vista, and
on a handful of pages (out of hundreds), runtime error message 104
    is displayed.
    Line: 104
    Error: Expected ')'
    Yes/No.
If you click No then the help page is displayed successfully,
however I'd like to get rid of this bug. Looking in Robohelp, I get
the same error, so am assuming it is a bug generated by Robohelp...
I'm a bit new to all this, so apologies if I'm appearing stupid -
any ideas how I go about resolving it?
    Many thanks, Mike

    Thanks guys!
I've had a look at the pages and didn't see anything that
separated these pages from any others - but it would be fair to say
I don't really know what I am looking for.
It definitely isnt due to double clicking, so I think we can
    eliminate that.
I'm going to try and regenerate the primary layout on my
machine to see if the problem was caused by something on my former
manager's machine. If it doesn't, I found a utility on the web
called regcure which I can download and it claims to fix runtime
errors. I'd need the IT guys to run it in Administrator mode tho.
Worth a try? Any other suggestions?
    Mike

  • Runtime Error! Program: C:...

    Hi all,
I just finished installing Robohelp 7 onto my Vista box for the first time. After entering the license and proceeding it error'd out. I'm able to go into Robohelp HTML and RoboSource Control 3 Explorer, but when I try to open Robohelp for Word I get the following error popup. Anyone seen this before and can help me troubleshoot?
    OS=Vista fully patched.
    Word=Office 2007 Pro fully patched.
    The popup is:
Titled Microsoft Visual C + + Runtime Library
    Red X Runtime Error!
    Program: C:...
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
    OK button.
    Thanks.

We tech writers at this company are experiencing a similar problem. We're testing a PC with Windows 7 on it. We've asked our computer support person to install RoboHelp 8 (including RoboHelp for Word), so that we can verify that both RoboHelp HTML and RoboHelp for Word work correctly before we allow our PCs to upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7. When we try to open RoboHelp for Word on this Windows 7 PC, a "Microsoft Visual C + + Runtime Library" error appears; here is part of it:
"This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way."
Thanks for any insights or tips!

  • Runtime Error! Can't access RH9 HTML

    Hello all.
I'm using RH9 and I was using the find and replace feature when the program froze. I had to "end task" and now I can't properly reopen RoboHelp HTML. When I go to open the program I get the Runtime Error! pop up, then the RoboHTML.exe - Application Error, and then after I click cancel I get the "unhandled win32 exception occurred in RoboHTML.exe [3796]. The funny thing is I can actually open my projects in RoboHelp as long as I don't hit No on the last pop up. The only thing is I need to leave the pop-up open or it will shutdown RoboHelp.
Any advice that can be offered would be more than welcome.
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
Sorry For delayed response, I am not sure if you are still facing the problem.
Can you please open you Event Viewer and Check the logs related to Robohelp.(Start>Run>Type "eventvwr")
That could suggest any faulty module causing the problem?
If you launch any other Project does the Error appear?
Can you make a Right Click to it and Select >Run as Administrator?
    Thanks,
    Anjaneai

  • Runtime Error 5152

On September 6th I posted a topic regarding this problem. I
found a work around, which is to log on to my PC using a
    new/different login ID.
Since that time my co-worker has experienced the same
problem. This problem occurred in the same manner for both my
co-worker and myself. We copied the project from the LAN to our
D:drive, when we tried to open the local copy of the project we
received the runtime error, and then going forward the error
occurred when trying to open any project. (Refer to Sept 6th post
    for specific error messages).
My co-worker was able to fix the problem by removing an old
(we had not used the file in many years) ".dot" template file
    located on D:\documents & settings\userID\application
data\microsoft\tempates\ . Unfortunately that file does not exist
on my PC, so am still using the work around.
Our most recent RH upgrade was in May 06 to X5 with Word
2003. Our project files are stored on our LAN. We typically work
off the LAN, but also create local copies of these projects
(typically the larger ones) to work on them locally. A recent
change to our PCs has seen the "documents and settings" folder,
moved to our D: drive. Prior to May 06 it was on our C: drive.
I am convinced it is a template file location problem related
to startup, because we keep the robohelp.dot template, which we
have modified for styles, within the working project folder.

You are playing with a bunch of things that can screw up RH.
It must be installed using the login of the user and with
admin rights attached. That criteria is not met if you install it
with one login and then use it with another one. Obviously you can
only address that by uninstalling and reinstalling. You may have
got RH to do some things by using a new login but it will certainly
    screw up doing something else.
Then you talk about projects on a LAN. Again a big NO NO.
It's OK to store things there but not to work on them there. Not
sure if D is a network or a partition, the latter is OK.
Now let's look at Word 2003. After installing Word it may be
necessary to uninstall and reinstall RH for that. Some say it is
necessary and I have seen it fix problems. I have also been advised
by Adobe people that it is necessary. Against that I have seen it
installed after RH and work OK. However, bottom line is if you have
a problem that has to be on your list.
Finally you mention Docs and Settings being on D. So again,
is this a network drive? Is it a roaming profile? Not sure if they
will work nicely with RH. Can someone else comment?

Using WebHelp 5.10.001 (Adobe RoboHelp 11, WebHelp 5.50) and am receiving the following error:
JavaScript runtime error: Object doesn't support property or method 'RegisterListener'
The above occurs on js file: whproxy.js

So I commented it out to avoid the error being thrown. What is the fix for this?

Could you please check that Robohelp 11 is updated to the latest update and also try to clear the cache and temp files from the machine and test the output.
Also could you please also check to login with any other user account in your machine which has the complete admin rights on it.
Is it possible for you to share the generated output with us or the project.

  • Could someone help me with a Runtime Error while saving a PDF file?

While saving a 28 page PDF file in Illustrator today, I got a window saying, "This application has requested the "Runtime" to terminate it in a unusual way." It said to contact the applications support team for more information. I keep getting the same thing each time I try it. Does anyone know how to fix this issue or how I contact the applications support team ?
    Thank you for any insight.
    Pam

It is a 13.5x11 inch calendar. There are 14 pages with images on them and
some text. The other pages have text, a grid and a colored background with a
gaussian blur. I saved each page as an "outline".
The printer I am using requested I save all pages in a pdf file. I was
successful in saving all but about six pages, now I can't even open the
    file.
What happens is... I open Illustrator
                                   I open the pdf file
A window appears that says... Runtime Error,
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual
way. Please contact the application's support team for more information.
                                   I select ok
then a window appears that says... Adobe
Illustrator CS5 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop
working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a
    solution is available.
                                   Then the program closes.
So far I have not been notified of anything.
Please let me know if you need more details.
Thank you so much for helping me with this.
    Pam
