RoboHelp 9 compatible with RoboHelp 8?

Can anyone tell me if RH 9 is backward compatible with RH8? We are a training group, and plan to bring on a new person. We all have Technical Communication Suite 2, and it appears you can't buy that anymore. Plus, Captivate 5 is NOT backward compatible with Captivate 4. I am wondering about RoboHelp. Thanks.

Hi Peter,
Thanks for your quick reply. I wonder if we can still buy Tech Comm Suite 2? We can't upgrade the other two in our group to 3 this fiscal year.

  • Is RoboHelp compatible with 64-bit Windows 7?

I'm having a problem with RoboHelp/RoboSource (posted about elsewhere in the forum) and in response to a support query, I received a message stating that RoboHelp is not compatible with 64-bit Windows 7.
Quoting: "Please ensure that Windows 7 is not 64 bit, as RoboHelp is not compatible."
This seems to be in conflict with the blog posting by Ankur Jain, Product Manager - RoboHelp, (http://blogs.adobe.com/techcomm/2009/12/adobe_robohelp_8_now_supports_windows_7_also.html) in which he states "I'm pleased to inform you that Adobe RoboHelp 8 now also supports Windows 7. With this, RoboHelp 8 is now compatible with Microsoft® Windows® XP with Service Pack 2 (Service Pack 3 recommended) or Windows Vista® with Service Pack 1 or Windows® 7."
Now, Mr. Jain doesn't specify 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7, but considering the detail in his posting regarding service packs, I'd expect that a blanket statement like RH is compatible with Win 7 would mean both 32-bit and 64-bit, unless otherwise stated.
    Some questions:
    1) Is RH compatible with 64-bit Win 7 or not?
    2) What about RoboSource? Is it compatible with Windows 7? If so, which versions? 32-bit or 64-bit?
Also, the tech person said that we also need to try running RoboHelp in "simplified mode." What exactly is that?
    Thank you in advance!

    Hi again
I'm wondering if the "Simplified" bit is stemming from this Adobe Knowledge Base article?

  • Is RoboHelp 9 compatible with Office 2013?

Is RoboHelp 9 compatible with Office 2013?

Not officially. If you want to import or link, then it will not work. However, if you only need to create printed documentation, then right click the print layout and select Properties. That way it will work. Obviously if you hit problems, Adobe will not support that but chances are you will be OK.

  • Projects created in RoboHelp 7 be compatible with Robohelp 10?

I'm currently using RoboHelp 7 HTML and I'm looking at purchasing Robohelp 10. Does anyone know if the projects created in version 7 will be compatible with version 10?

    Hi,
When you open a RoboHelp 7 project in RoboHelp 10, RH asks you to upgrade the project. All features of RH7 are fully supported in RH10.
When your project is upgraded to RoboHelp 10, it will no longer be compatible with RH7 anymore. So make sure to create backups.

  • Is RoboHelp 7 compatible with Windows 8 64-bit?

Is Robohelp 7 compatible with Windows 8 64-bit?

    Hi Waltw1207,
I use the original Technical Communication Suite (FM8 + RH7). With all the necessary patches installed, it worked perfectly for years on XP. This is not the case on Win 8 (64-bit). I tried everything to get it working in the new OS environment - but to no avail.
My solution was to install an Oracle VM VirtualBox. I set it up as follows
    -  4 CPUs (I have an i7 in the PC)
    -  4GB RAM
    - Windows XP
Then I installed the TCS in this VM environment. It works brilliantly. No more problems with FM and RH, plus I can run other 64-bit applications on the host machine.
    Hope this helps
P.S. If you decide to go down this road, remember to deactivate your application before you install it in the VM environment.

  • Does anyone know if robohelp 7 is compatible with windows 8.1?

Does anyone know if robohelp 7 is compatible with windows 8.1?

It's not even compatible with Windows 7 and probably you will find many browser compatibility issues if generating webhelp.
Sorry but time to get Rh11.

  • Is RoboHelp 7 WebHelp compatible with Mac OS?

I created a WebHelp project in RoboHelp 7. It opens perfectly in Windows OS browsers, but will not open on a Mac.Is WebHelp not compatible with Mac OS?
    thanks

    Thanks for your reply, Peter.
    My tester was using:OS X 10.4.11
    Safari 4.0.4.
But the Help didn't open when she clicked the Help button in the app.
However, when she went to the url (the Help's location on our server), it opened perfectly.
Is there something I should be doing specifically for Help that goes to a Mac?
Shouldn't I be able to generate as WebHelp and have it work properly on both Windows and Mac?
    thanks,

  • Is RoboHelp 7 (and older) compatible with Team Foundation Services (TFS)?

We want to migrate our older RoboHelp projects to TFS. Is RoboHelp compatible with TFS?

RoboHelp is compatible with TFS. See http://www.adobe.com/devnet/robohelp/articles/robohelp-tfs-integration.html for an instruction on how to set it up.
Having set that, I have only ever used RH8 with TFS. I don't know whether older versions of RoboHelp work with TFS, but I have used RH7 with VSS.
If you give it a try, please post back to let us know whether your old RH versions work with TFS too.

  • Is Office 2000 compatible with RoboHelp 7?

We are planning to buy RoboHelp7. But, cannot buy Office
2007. Is RoboHelp7 compatible with Office 2000 (our exisitng
    version)?
    Thanks in advance,
    Meenakshmi

    Problems -
Currently, we are using Office 2000 and RH6. Now, we are
planning to upgrade to RH7. We downloaded the trial version to
check the compatibitiy. We compiled the exisitng RH6 projects with
the RH7. It was found that pages with links are not displaying at
all. We imported them from another project. But, some of then dod
not work after that. There are also some special characters in the
texts. We tried with Office 2007 and RH7. The problems were there
too. Can anyone advice whether this is some bug? We applied the
    vailable patch. But nothing happened.
Should we go for the upgrade?

  • Is RH8 Compatible with Windows 8

    RH8 / RSC 3.1 / Windows XP
Is RH8 compatible with Windows 8?
We have been looking at new machines with Windows 8, and also about upgrading to RH10, but the last I heard RH10 had not been fully tested for Windows 8. Has that changed, or will it change, or is that a matter for RH11 in the future?
The XP machines are out of date and browser compatibility is becoming an issue.  Would we be better off getting RH9?
Any information, suggestions, etc. that you can provide will be greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Joe

Rh10 was tested against a beta version of Windows 8 but released before the final version of Windows 8 was launched. As a result it is not officially supported but so far it would appear it is working OK. The deal is if you have a problem with that combo, there is no official support. Whether or not it will be fixed during the lifetime of Rh10 is something only Adobe know and they never release such information ahead of a fix.
As to earlier versions, good luck.
You also need to consider the compatibility of the outputs with IE10. The WebHelp section of Snippets on my site gives information about fixes for that for Rh9 and Rh10. For Rh8 the only fix is the metatag detailed on my site.
See Item 28 at http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/rh8/using_rh8.htm for Rh8/RSC under Windows 7, so good luck with Windows 8!

  • RH 7 files compatible with RH Server 8?

    Hello,
My company is looking to purchase RH Server 8 to replace our outdated RoboEngine 3 (or 4).  The help files were designed by a contractor originally and she came back last year to help us update them.  She did so using RH7.  Now I am trying get RH Server to host the files with from our webserver and the enterprise says they will approve the purchase if we can go with RH Server 8.  Are the files she created with RH7 going to be compatible with RH Server 8?
    TIA,
    Brad

    Hi there
Hopefully my esteemed colleague John won't mind my making a small observation here.
I see that Brad is advising he only has access to the OUTPUT files.
While it's certainly possible to re-purpose them as project files, they won't provide everything you need. If you are going to end up purchasing the RoboHelp authoring component, you really need to have the SOURCE files the contractor used to create the output.
These are much different than the output files and will actually include files that never see the light of day in output, but are necessary for the project.
    Cheers... Rick

iPod 4,1 will not update to iOS 7. I updated my iMac to 10.9.1 (maverick). Latest Numbers version on iMac is not compatible with Numbers on iPod. Ideas? Can I go back a version with Numbers? I downloaded old version of Numbers 2.0.1 from DVD but with both versions the 2.0.1 will not open.  So both versions are present but only the new version functions. I tried to drag the new version to the trash but the old version still runs error message and will not open. I did not try to restart with the new version in the trash.

    Maybe. See:
