RoboHelp 9 publishing to SharePoint

getting a new error message - "Publishing has been cancelled.  This file is checked out or locked for editing by another user. No recent changes to SharePoint and I'm the only one working with these files - Help :-)

Are you trying to send your generated help to a SharePoint site? Sounds like the issue is with SP – try generating locally first & then try copying it up to SP; if you still get the same message, then you know it’s SP’s problem.

  • RoboHelp 9 Publish to SharePoint - why not just change output folder?

    Hello,
For publishing my help to SharePoint, I was not able to get the video publishing to SharePoint to play, but tried to follow what written instructions I could find. and they didn't work. However, I was able to publish directly to SharePoint by simply changing the "Output folder and Start page" on the "General"  WebHelp single source layout settings page. I just made the files go directly to the SharePoint document library - into an empty folder I placed there.  Here is the path I used: \\sharepoint\HR\HCMHRResources\OnlineHelp\HRSpace\index.htm    It seems to work fine. Is there any reason I should not do it this way?

Oops... my bad My Bad MY BAD!
That will teach me to reply without fully comprehending the thread. I was thinking you were referring to typing the UNC address into the publish destination field. But after looking at it again it seems you are talking about where WebHelp is generated.
Actually you DO NOT want to work that way. Here's why.
If you are placing content on a shared medium, odds are that users are accessing it from there, no? The first steps in the generation process involve removing the content from the folder in preparation for receiving a new round of content. And as you may imagine, if users are looking at the information and suddenly it's deleted, it's going to cause issues.
You always want to generate to your local hard drive. Then copy that content from your generated location to the server. And that's what Publish (which is what I thought you were doing) accomplishes.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Publishing to Sharepoint

I just upgraded to 9 from 7 and am not able to get the new publishing feature to work. I am generating a webhelp project locally and attempting to publish to the company server/Sharepoint site.  I have tried every one of the options (http, sharepoint, file system).  I verified the host name and path directory with our IT heads.
I have been getting either "connection failed"  or it will say it was successful but the files are not appearing in the sharepoint folder. Changing the "Descriptive Name" seems to affect this, but I'm not sure why.
    Any ideas?

    Hi there
I'm guessing you are referring to the new "Publish to Sharepoint" feature, right? I say that because the Publishing feature isn't new. It's been there a long while. But I believe Adobe added the feature to Publish specifically to Sharepoint in version 9.
To my knowledge the Descriptive name area shouldn't be having any effect. Likely it's a red herring.

  • Robohelp 10 and SharePoint 365

    I´m testing Robohelp 10 with SharePoint 365.
I configure the Robohelp and SharePoint as the page: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/RoboHelp/10.0/RoboHTML/WS1b49059a33f77726-5aab66613798e5ec9b-8 000.html
On step 3, when I click on "File/Version Control/Add Version Control" and inform "SharePoint Site", user name and password, Robohelp display a message: "Error: The remote server returned an error: (403) Forbidden."
Anybody knows something about this error?
    Thanks very much.

    Hi Willam!
No. The test is not finished.

    I will test again.

  • RoboHelp 9 and SharePoint

I have created a Web Help project using RoboHelp 9. It seems to work fine, and there do not seem to be any issues with the project. Or at least no issues that I can see.
My problem is that when I copy the contents of the !SSL!/WebHelp folder (and all its sub-folders) for this project onto our SharePoint site, I can run the SharePoint-based Web Help from my computer, but other users cannot. When they click the file <ProjectName>.htm, either nothing happens or their browser goes into a "waiting for..." state without the Help actually opening.
Does anyone have any ideas about what's going on here? Or, more appropriately, how to fix this?
    Thanks!

The video (when you manage to get it running) will help you understand what is required to be set-up inside RoboHelp. Basically the optimization settings are controlled from the Navigation Options inside your WebHelp single source layout. The Optimise Speed for Websites option would be worth trying as this is designed for slower connections.
BTW I asked about the publish feature because you said you generated the output and then copied the files to the SharePoint site. My point was that once you have generated your WebHelp output you can automatically copy all the files at the touch of the publish button. All you need to do is set-up the path to the SharePoint site in the Publish options of your single source layout. Again the video link should explain all.
Let us know how you get on.

  • Can't publish to SharePoint natively: trusted sites issue?

I'm trying to publish an RH 10 project to SharePoint using the Multiscreen_HTML5 layout. In SharePoint (Native), I selected the 2007 version option because 2010 wouldn't work. The publish process goes all the way through until I get "Publishing has been cancelled. Access Denied. Before opening files in this location, you must first add the web site to your trusted sites list, ..." Of course the whole site is already in my Trusted Sites list.
Is there something I can do on my end, or should I bother my SharePoint admin about this? I think it has a problem adding .aspx files.

    Hi Willam,
I can't really tell what version of SharePoint we are using. I'm uploading to our new Office 365 portal. I manage to upload most of the files to the target using the SharePoint 2007 option; there is no authentication in the layout profile for that version.
I get nowhere using the 2010 version. If I use a mapped drive to the target in the SharePoint Site field, I get the error "Value does not fall within the expected range". If I use the URL to the site I get "The remote server returned an error (403) Forbidden." I used my credentials for getting into Office 365.
Does RoboHelp 11 have support for Office 365?

  • WebHelp Search returning no results when publishing to SharePoint

I have an issue I need help with. When I publish my project to Sharepoint, I've tried AIRHelp and WebHelp, and I try to do a search within the help, it ALWAYS says no results are found. Has anyone seen this happen before? Thanks!

    Hi there
Sorry, no magick bullet or incantation to offer here other than to say you should probably report it as a bug to Adobe.

  • Sharepoint 2013: Workflow Error , while trying to publish a Sharepoint 2013 Workflow, from the Sharepoint Designer 2013

I don't know what might be wrong but I have tried everything possible I suppose.

Installed Sharepoint Designer 2013 on my laptop.

    a. Re-installed Workflow, Service Bus, Windows Fabric, Sharepoint Designer... no luck
    b. Run the configuration script... -Force enabled... no luck
    c. Remove WF Manager, SB, etc... Deleted all WF and sb Databases from SQL, and re-installed all icluding updates... no luck
    d. Tried to run services using Farm account, still no luck.
    e. All services on the Server are running as well
    f. The workflow is checked that it is associated with the site collection.
I don't know what else to try... seems like I am experiencing unique issue here... please help!

One last thing I can suggest - In case if you have installed CU Update for WF manager 1.0 and service bus. Some time that creates problem, [Please take backup before make any changes] -
    - Clear everything, WF config , SharePoint WF setting, un register WF from SP , You can delete and recreate WF service Apps
    - IISreset at WF and SP server
    - Uninstall CU update for Workflow manager 1.0 and Service Bus from WF server [Control Panel - Programs - Update], you can delete all update installed
    - ReStart WF server
    - Reconfigure WF manager , Test WF sites , should return XML
    Get-WFFarm | ft HttpPort
    - Reconfigure WF at SP , Make sure should have enough free memory
    Register-SPWorkflowService –SPSite "http://SPsite/" –WorkflowHostUri "http://WFServer:12291" –AllowOAuthHttp
http or https , depend on your configuration
    And retest from SPD again.
    Good luck:)

  • Publish Page Content-Cross Site Publishing in SharePoint Online

Is it possible to get Authoring Site's Specific Page's Content/html content (Live in Page Library of Authoring Site and saved as a Catalog) by a Content Search web part added to the Publishing site's page?
(Please note that these sites created in SharePoint 2013 Online, Authoring Site activated Cross site Publishing feature and created using team site template, Publishing site created using Publishing Portal template)

  • Compose/Edit Locally then publish to SharePoint Site

Sorry for the cross-posting ... This applies to both/either SP 2010 or 2013
    Here is our current process.
Our Technical Writer creates MSWord-document job-aids with headings, tables, lists and screenshots to show the steps to complete common procedures (e.g. How to fill out an expense report).  Screenshots are captured and altered using desktop software,
then pasted into the Word file.
The document is saved locally, converted to PDF and the PDF saved to a SharePoint Document Library
    Either:
Users visit our internal company SharePoint site Document Library and download the PDF Documents, or
We send out links to documents in newsletters, personal emails or Lync chats
In the past, these documents would have also been printed, bound together and used as part of training.  We are quickly progressing past that paradigm.  Our users are much more comfortable with accessing documentation online.  I want to get
out of the "PDF" and printing business all together.
We have looked into re-creating all of these job-aids in SharePoint's KnowledgeBase template but due to the significant number of screenshots that we employ having to save each screenshot separately, upload to a folder, then to embed in the Knowledgebase
template article is a significant increase in total effort.
Ultimately what I want is a solution where:
Our Technical Writer can create a procedure locally including cut/paste images
The procedure can be saved/published to our SharePoint site with images being named/saved/uploaded automatically
Users can search/browse/link to the procedure
If changes need to be made, the Technical writer can open it in the local application (return to Step 1).
Having some workflow (such as copy editing or manager approval stages), user ratings/comments, metadata/keywords, etc. would be icing on the cake.
In the "old days" I would be able to crack open Adobe Dreamweaver or MSFrontPage, set up a site template and do almost all of this except the images still had to be saved first -- but that was when there were a million variables in terms of the
webserver.  With a fully integrated Microsoft set of tools, I am hoping there is some combination of Sharepoint, Word, Sharepoint Designer and/or InfoPath that can meet my needs.
BTW, we are currently using SharePoint 2007, but will be upgrading to 2013 soon (OR I can migrate to SP2010 if it will work, too) -- which if I can find a workable solution, I can start budgeting my team's time for the migration to a new paradigm.  Thanks

lots of options here.  first, you could just use publishing and then the only thing standard users can view are published documents, whereas site owners can edit pages/documents and work with the unpublished draft and publish when wanted.
also, if you want to automate the word-pdf process, 2010/2013 have word automation service app.  the demo and code sample for using automation services is a snippet that does word-pdf conversions:
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/office/ff181518(v=office.14).aspx
ideally, in 2013, you have cross site publishing abilities.  you could basically allow your writer to edit the list items in the source site and when published, they are presented in any way you like using display templates on the destination:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj635883(v=office.15).aspx
...realistically, for your current process, I think just enabling publishing would work for what you want.  sharepoint only indexes fully published content and users only see published content (unless they have perms ot edit it), so it should work great.
combined with word automation(requires 2010+, but the same code/config either way), you could keep the docs as pdfs for archival purposes if desired.  although sharepoint will keep previous versions if you want, so keeping the pdfs for archive isn't as
    necessary.

  • How to publish a sharepoint web application to internet for external users.

    Hi
how to publish a share point site to internet,
In test server : we branded a publishing enabled site and uploaded content and want to publish for internet users
we have a production sharepont server,
    1) how to configure alternate access mappings in default zone, internet zone when we create new web application in prod share point server.
    adil

For internet publishing ifyou want or need change the authentication method you need to EXTEND the website and enable the CLAIM authentication so the user can login using a HTML form for username and password.
SharePoint make a url parsing to identify the content
to display so you need to explain all the server name used for contacting the WebApplication. You can use 5 different name for the same server
    (AAM Alternate Access Mapping).
N.B. http and https are different name (AAM Alternate Access Mapping)Lorenzo

  • RoboHelp vs. SharePoint as Help Authoring Tool

    Hello All,
I'm currently looking at RoboHelp to replace our old help
guides. Right now our guides are accessed though a 2 frame page
with an asp driven TOC on the left. The TOC just links to some html
pages that display in the right fram and others that are just
downloads of word, excel and PDF docs.
We will be purchasing Microsoft SharePoint next year and it
has been suggested to use that as our help authoring tool. I don't
know much about RoboHelp (other than I've been using the demo for a
couple days and love it's ease of use) and SharePoint and was
wondering if anyone out there has used both as a help authoring
tool and what your experiences were.
Are they pretty much similar, does anyone use them in
conjunction, any pros and cons to each?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to our community, mschallmo
I'm not a Sharepoint user and I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn
Express last night, so I can't claim to be one.
I think you are comparing Spiders to Hedgehogs here. RoboHelp
is a Help Authoring Tool (HAT). Sharepoint is a product that might
display what RoboHelp created, but will not facilitate actually
creating the content you would later display as RoboHelp will.
Unless someone more experienced with Sharepoint steps up to
refute this, my understanding is that you would need
    Both RoboHelp
AND Sharepoint. RoboHelp to author the content and
Sharepoint to present it to your users.

  • Cross Site Publishing in SharePoint Online

I was asked to test Cross Site Publishing features in SharePoint 2013 Online. I saved the Authoring site collection's (Used Team Site's Template since Product Catalog Template not avialable in SP Online) Pages library as a Catalog. When I connected that
catalog in my Publishing site collection, 2 pages created automatically. Category Page is showing the content, but CatelogItem page is empty. How can I configure Content Search Web Part to show the Page Content of the Authoring Sites's page?
Can we show Authoring sites Pages libraries page content on the publishing site?
Is this possible in SharePoint Online Cross Site Publishing?

  • RoboHelp Publishing Error

I am trying to publish a RoboHelp X5 project. About twenty
minutes into publishing the process fails. I receive a message
stating: "Publishing has been cancelled. Connection failed. Native
error: The operation timed out." I am then prompted to log back
    into the server.
I was able to publish the project successfully in the past,
but just recently have encountered this problem.
Has anyone encountered this error? Does anyone have a
    solution? I'm at a loss.

Sorry, didn't mean to cause confusion. I didn't submit the
original post on this thread, but in my first post, I did mention I
was using WebHelp Pro, publishing to RoboHelp 7 Server. With
WebHelp Pro wizard, you just have 2 pages: on first you define the
"Output Folder and Start Page", and then on next page you define
    your Server Name.
So I guess you are referring to the Destination Path on the
last page of the WebHelp wizard. As I am publishing to a server, I
am guessing that this renaming of folders will not work for me as I
am getting error "Publishing has been cancelled. Connection failed.
Please check the connection and post again. Native error: Cannot
accept uploading file. Further processing is stopped."

    Hello,
