RoboHelp 9 search results icons and context

I have some formatting issues with the search results. In the image below I want 2 things to change. I would like to remove the extra info and simply have the link. I also want to ditch the little icon. I am pretty new to RoboHelp so ask me any info I may have excluded.

Apologies in advance if you feel I'm speaking down to you in any way. As you seem unfamiliar with RoboHelp's outputs, I'm guessing you may also be unfamiliar overall with RoboHelp.
Using RoboHelp is a lot like working in a kitchen. You mix "ingredients" that consist of Topics (HTML Pages) Images, Video and whatever else. And RoboHelp assists you in mixing these.
In a kitchen, you prepare a dish for someone to consume. Generally, you prepare the dish based on a recipe. That recipe may exist in the form of a card in a small recipe box. In RoboHelp, there is a pod called the Single Source Layouts pod. This is just like the Recipe Box. And each layout type is just like a recipe card in the box. There are layouts for WebHelp, for Microsoft HTML Help, for AIR Help, etc.
One of these is nominated to be the default. That's just like moving that particular recipe card to the front of the recipe box.
So when you create your output (your recipe) I'm asking what type of output you created. Which layout has "default" beside its name in the Single Source Layouts pod? That's likely to be the one you are using and seeing what you are seeing.

How can set a customized search results template and all users see it

I Added new costume template search result
And when I added this template it’s added only for the user how created this template ,And I need all users see and use this template can anyone tell how I can add template for search result and all users see it or if I can do synchronies for this template.

I wasn't able to understand what was meant by this post. Therefore, I modified the standard template HeadLine View.
Columns for this template are defined in the include slim_search_result_table_header_setup (in std_page.htm).
Here is the modification of the code:

Why is name search results backward and has non-existant info??

I did a name search on Hiroto. His appleid was listed last. You would think an exact match on the name would be listed first.
Also, view in orgchart doesn't work. Is orgchart a valid word. My spell checker doesn't think so.

Orgchart is a contraction of Organization Chart. Jive has many features that are used by other organizations but are not implemented on this site, the Orghart being one of them. Ideally those links would be omitted or hidden.
In principle adding the URL parameter &sortOrder=ascending onto the earlier URL ought to reverse the results but according to Jive's documentation it may not always work as expected, and doesn't in this case.
The default order if none is provided is "descending". Please note that ascending and descending do not necessary produce exact opposites of one another. This is because there are often additional criteria that is used to sort items that have matching primary criteria.

Next time you are in a search windows click the Search tips link and take a look around.
By the way, users who have set their Online Visibility (via User Preferences ) to off are not returned by a people search. This preference would appear to be controlling the wrong privacy setting. Online Visibility isn't an enabled feature of ASC.

Show search result in Portal navigation context?

My question is if it is possible to show a search result in the context of the portal navigation?
After a standard search with TREX a KM-document/folder opens in a new window without any navigation context (and portalframework). We find this not very userfriendly. We use the SAPPortal/KM (NW04 SP17) as an Intranet-solution. The KM-folderstructure is similar to the portal navigation so every folder/document is shown only once in the portal navigation. There is one portal role which contains all the KM-navigation-iViews to the different KM-folders.
I have searched the forum but could not find any information. Any help/ideas are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

We have just made a proof of concept for this and it works. Please understand that this is SUCH a great thing we have implemented that in this special case I won't post details about the solution on SDN - but be sure you can always ask btexx to implement it for you
The solution does not restrict to KM content, but catches all content displayed within the portal (if you want, restricted to certain roles)!
If you are at TechEd, we certainly can have a talk about it, also give you a live demonstration. See you in Amsterdam?!

Changing document icons in search results

Hello,
Can someone please tell me how to replace the document icons like pdf and doc that come up in the search results.I looked around in item and display templates but could not locate that item result part.All i want is to use a different icon for some result
types.

I have one problem and I think it is a settings issue. When I google the web I get results. Now, when I visit some website and I return to my search results I don't have any markers (diffrent link colour for visited sites in IE).

How to get value in custom field(Part OF BOL) in search result view.

I am new to CRM WEBUI and i am facing issue in populating value in one field of search result view.
Current requirement is .
On product f4 , we get search help and search result view.
one custom field need to be added in search result view ( for eg any description field).
This description field is already available in one of z relation maintained in PRODUCT root object.
Solution tried so Far:
1. We enhance one Standard Product structure and add that description field .
2. Add new field( description) in result view context node as attribute by using bol attribute.
3. Customize search result view and display that description field in result.
By doing above three steps, field is available in search result view.
but issue is we are not able to get values.
1st Approach: write code in getter and setter method . Pass the relation name and get the property of description field
in setter method, set the property.
Issue : we were not able to sort the values on this description field. so scrap this 1st approach
2nd Approach: In Event EH_Onsearch Help, we try to use collection wrapper to get current value of description
by using relation name .
We use component controller to set the value of description since searchresult view-conext node->result node is bound to one comp controller node.
but this solution also does not work..
Please advice us what approach we should use to get value in description field and sorting should also work.

if u need sorting on that field.
then u should go for value node approach and write code for getting value in get set method
and for sorting also , need to write code.

Search Results - Filter Results By: - Show More ...

When I use the "Show More ..." option under one of the "Filter Results By:" groups, it works as expected. When I then select one of the items to filter by, it again works as expected. However, if I hit the back browser function or select the "Unfilter" option, the "Show more ..." expansion is restored. I suggest it return to the "Show Top 5..." presentation (as before the individual filter was selected).

You are right, I thought about this BADI we already enhanced it for BP authorization (like many people did in this forum). However my concern is that this BADI gets called like a million times before it gets back to the search result page and I am just not sure of the impact on performance. So I was thinking if anything else is possible at UI level. But may be I don't have many options here :(. Also if I select the multiple values for the field in the BADI it comes up in debug mode

it is searching for both individually, so it is basically working as a select option, not sure how I can combine them both.
Also you mentioned that searching BP on marketing attr is not possible in standard, but I think it is possible and we are searching on it. I know we have enhanced BP search for some other purposes but not for marketing Attr. as I can clearly see a standard field for MARKETINATTR in the context of BPMAINSEARCH IMPL class and when I use it in the search field it does pop up another view when I hit f4 on the possible values where I can select my attr set, attribute & value. I am on 7.0 by the way.

Why do google search results reset to match the search bar terms when i use the back button?

Since the update to FF 23, the list of Google search results clears and the on-page search box is reset to match the address bar search box when I hit the back button to re-view the results list after checking a result.
To see this issue for yourself, set your search provider to Google and make sure Instant is on. Type a search term into the search bar and press enter. A google page appears with your results list. Now, change your search terms or conduct a new search directly from the google page (without using the FF search bar). Click on the first result in the search list, then click the back button to return to the search results so you can check a differest result. As FF goes back to the google page, it will reset the on-page search box to match the FF search bar (although you were no longer on this search) and all search results will disappear, replaced by the message "Press enter to search". Pressing enter reconducts your old search, not the one you were on.
This is incredibly maddening since searching for something requires frequent use of the back button to check through the list of search results, and then frequently trying the search again with slightly different terms. Although it sounds like a Google issue, it did not occur on the old firefox and has me wanting to revert. I tried to revert to the old search function via the "keyword search" addon, but this did not fix my issue. Is there a way to force FF to go back to the actual google search page I was just on instead of conducting a new google search from the FF search box when I hit the back button?

In Firefox 23 versions and later the keyword.URL pref is no longer supported and it is no longer possible to specify the search engine for the location bar via the keyword.URL pref.<br />
The search engine that is used on the location bar and on the about:home page is the search engine that is selected in the search Bar on the Navigation Toolbar.<br />
Current Firefox versions do not update the about:home home page until you refresh the page (future versions will do this automatically without a refresh) and that is what happens if you use the Back key.
You can install the Keyword Search extension to specify with search engine to use for the location bar and which search engine to use for the about:home page via the Options/Preferences windows of this extension, accessible via the about:addons page.

Add custom properties to People Search Results

Good morning,
I am trying to include some custom properties to our Search Results. These are the steps I have followed so far:
Create User Profile Service Property and sync to AD. The property is populated for different users.
Run full crawl
Create managed property on the Schema, and map this to the crawled property
Created a new version of the Item_Person.html template and changed its title.
Upload to the Display Templates gallery, and created a new Result Type with this as its template
Added the new property to the mso:ManagedPropertyMapping tag
Went to Search Result Types, and selected "Update" on the Property Sync alert
On the new template, the new property appears on the object ctx.CurrentItem, but its value is null.
Am I missing something? Tried running full crawl and incremental crawl. Even tried removing the index first.

Search results sorting

hello ,
I would like to have a custom control that sort search results ( A to Z or Z to A ), so , i created a dropdownlist with two entry : A-Z et Z-A.
When user click A-Z , i would like that search results display in the right alphabetic order from A to Z.
How to accomplish my goal step by step ?

Hi Piing,
To sort the search results, you need to define the results to sort by which managed property.
As each result has many managed properties, I recommend to use Title managed property to sort the results.
If that is the case, then we need to write the sort dropdown like this:
[{"name":"A-Z","sorts":[{"p":"Title","d":0}]},{"name":"Z-A","sorts":[{"p":"Title","d":1}]}].
After that, we need to edit the search results page and then edit the Search Results web part, then expand Settings and check Show sort dropdown. After that paste the above JSON inside the box and save the changes back to SharePoint.

Stop Safari opening search results in new tab

Since updating to Safari 6.0.1 (and now 6.0.2) in OSX10.7.5 anytime I click a link which is a search engine search result (Google and Yahoo!, Ask.com has always done that) the result opens in a new tab. Previously results would open in the same tab and I could just press the 'back' button until I returned to the search results page. I would like to be able to go back to going back in my history, instead of switching between tabs. If anyone knows how I can restore the same tab thing instead of opening new tabs I would appreciate it as having a half dozen open tabs is frustrating, and I usually only need a second search result if the first was entirely unhelpful (thus rendering tabs a

I don't know about Yahoo, but Google has a setting to open results in a new window. If it's selected, deselect it.

What version has search results in same window?

I currently have version 8.2.4
The full reader search opens in a new window. I don't like this.
There was a version where one could see search results in the same window as the document was displayed in.
What version was that, please, and do you know where I can download it from?

I never paid enough attention to the details of exactly how it worked previously, so I can't be positive whether you're right or wrong. If they did always open in a 2nd window, they did so in such a way as to seem like the same window:
The search results window now overlaps the document display window.
There are separate entries in the task bar for the document and the search results.
And I have to use Alt-tab to switch between the two windows.
What I do know for a fact is there was a version that did not operate that way. (And futzing around to resize the windows so they don't overlap is not an acceptable work-around.)
I am likely not using the official terminology to name things.
I've put up with it this way for a long time, but it's a stupid design and I want the old way back.

Search results showing incorrect modified date

Hi All,
I have a one difficulty in search results.
Document showing incorrect modified date in search results. And this happens for one document only.
We have customized the search/results.aspx page, Our document is showing correct modified date in document properties,All Items.aspx like 31/4/2013.
But when i search with document name in search, result showing incorrect modified date like 24/6/2004.
I checked with database in SQL, every thing is fine.
I have updated the Modified date through powershell script for one document and after that this recent modified date is showing in search results.
But after updating the Modified date through powershell, issued document not showing the recent modified date in search results. still showing as 24/6/2004.
I should not do edit property and save, to create new version.
I don't know what is happening in search crawl. All ready full crawl running daily basis.
I want to check whether this issued document is crawling or not. Could anybody help me to get out of this. what is the main cause of this issue.

I'm seeing the same issue after upgrading the SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013.
When I search any upgraded document in SharePoint 2013, the document's "Last Modified Date" was showing an incorrect value in Search Results page but other metadata of document like "Last Modified User" is showing the correct
value so the problem is not with document crawl, something wrong with Last Modified Date property in Search results.
I have seen below comment as answer but I didn't understand the solution to fix this issue for all upgraded documents.
The most likely cause is that there is metadata on the documents that is set to that date which is overriding the other dates in the search result. SharePoint isn't particulary imaginative so it's got to be finding that date from somewhere.
Do we have any solution for this issue? Is this issue will be addressed in SharePoint 2013 SP1?
Note: No issues with documents, which uploaded after upgrade.

Search Results not working as expected with Site.URL Filter

I have a page (SharePoint 2013 - Foundation) with a search Results web part. In that web part I have added a filter to limit the results to the specific site (and it's children). So my Query text is:
{searchboxquery} Path:{Site.URL}*
This works.. except for one thing. I'm guessing here but I think the "Site.URL" is returning the site that contains the search results page and not the site that actually started the search!
What I'm trying to do is mimic the default search behavior where a search only contains results from the current site down. So for example
\sites\mySite\mySubSite
If I'm on mySite and search, I should get everything from mySite + mySubSite. However if I am in the mySubSite when I search, I should only get results from mySubSite and NOT the parent mySite.
Added info:
the actual 'search center' is at the \sites\mysite level. Per MS documentation it states that {Site.URL} is the site from where the query was issued. To me that means that if I am on \mysite\mySubSite and initiate the search there, that it should only include
results mySubSite which it is not doing

In SharePoint 2013, we could configure Result source to limit searched to certain content or to a subset of search results. This would be equal to a new search scope in SharePoint 2010.
