Robohelp--Air App Error

I keep getting this error when I try to package a webhelp
application generated through RoboHelp: "Given Web Help Folder is
invalid." Does anyone know why this is happening (the pointer is to
the correct folder) and how to solve it? Thanks.

Can't open browser window from RoboHelp AIR app??!

We've got a RoboHelp course that we're exporting as an AIR app using the Packager and it works great. We've got an embedded flash file that needs to open a website in a browser window, but, currently it will only load the site in a new AIR window...any ideas??

I'm having this same problem also, although you gave me one option in your reply. I can't get the "Allow" button to work either. I upgraded to Adobe Reader 9.2, and then is when I noticed I couldn't bring up the websites that I usually could before. I don't really know what you mean about "Stand Alone Option," but I will try to find out. I also upgraded to Internet Explorer 8, but I'm not sure if this is when the problem started or when I went to Adobe Reader 9.2.
I used to be able to get "Allow" to work if I opened the document in IE8 and not in AR 9.2, but now that won't even work. I did email the author of a PDF document I was in today in the hopes he would have the answer, but I'm not sure if I got his email address right, so time will tell on that issue.
I have a "library" of PDF documents, so I would really like to get this problem fixed. However, I've spent at least two hours on this issue, and I really don't think it has anything to do with Windows Vista incompatibility; I'm pretty sure it has something to do with Adobe Reader, but that doesn't help much given I have emailed support and, of course, have never received an answer.
I do know there are a lot of people that are having this exact same problem, but no one has an answer to it. I've tried to do research on this, but I have a lot of "to do" tasks I need to get done every day, so it's not like I have all the time in the world to try and fix this problem.

Fixed the problem by going to settings/store and logging out with apple ID. Then logged back in with password and updates, apps, and iTunes store seem to work ok now.

Error message when downloading adobe air app.

I have according to the installation program successfully installed adobe air. I am now trying to download an adobe air app from Jacqui Lawson and keep getting the following message.
"Sorry an error has occurred. The application could not be installed. Try installing it again. If the problem persists, contact the application author."
I have read other comments regarding this matter and tried everything suggested so far. I am still having the same issue.
I am running windows vista 32 bit. All firewall and anti virus are off, UAC is enabled, I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program and I have tried using a different browser. Can anyone suggest anything else to try.

Many of us have encounted this issue. The problem is not confined to a particular version or computer operating. Many homemade remedies and scientific ones have worked for some and not others. The most recent fix was offered by an ID by the name of Maud Barbara and seems to have been the answer for that user and at least one more.

Converting the web app into AIR app leads errors

Hi all,
I am new to flex, i am trying to convert a web app into air app.
I changes the tags and when i complie i get the below 3 error popups with dismis and continue buttons on the bottom right..

Cannot install LCCS Navigator AIR app - "Sorry, an error has occurred"

I am unable to install the LCCS "SDK Navigator Application" from the LCCS Developer portal. When I try to run the AIR installer, I get the following error message:
Sorry, an error has occurred.
This application cannot be installed because this installer has been misconfigured. Please contact the application author for assistance.
/Library/Frameworks/Adobe AIR.framework/Versions/Current/Resources/Info.plist shows my AIR "CFBundleVersion" is "2.6.0.19140".

I did try to install LCCS Navigator AIR app on the version of AIR runtime you specified, and did not hit any issues.
Can you give us more details such as OS version, are you updating or installing the app. Also can you try a clean install too.

Why error messages not displaying in installed AIR app?

Help me please understand how AIR handle errors. When I run air application from the Flex Builder and have some code that
generates an error, a window appears with the error description, such this:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
at MyApp/genError()[C:\FlexProjects\MyApp\src\MyApp.mxml:10876]
at MyApp/___MyApp_Button92_click()[C:\FlexProjects\MyApp\src\MyAppmxml:10880]
So I can see where error is occur and handle it. But when I release build the same app, run it, click the button that generate error, nothing happens, no error messages etc. So users can not catch bug even if it happens and can't reported it ...

I will make every effort to debug errors at development time, but can not be 100% sure that they can all be found immediately. Can I set in the compiler option some parameter to 'true' for displaying error messages or something like that?

HELP! - Can't update Adobe Air Apps - Application Install Error

I have several Adobe Air Apps on my Mac OSX (10.9.4) MackBook Pro. They won't update due to the following Install Error.
"The application cannot be installed due to a certificate problem. The certificate does not match the installed application certificate, does not support application upgrades, or is invalid. Please contact the application author."
Following the above instructions, I've been contacting the authors of my Adobe Air Apps and they are telling me that it is not their problem. The Apps should simply update without difficulty.
I searched the "Google" and found no fix other than uninstall and reinstall Adobe Air. Did this and the problem persists.
If you can help me get beyond this issue and back to productivity, I'd be very appreciative.

I had a similar problem when trying to install Zinio.air. I have made it all work out. What i did was remove Adobe Air 15 entirely from the Utiliites and Library/ accounts and preferences. I then downloaded Adobe Air 13 and installed and then clicked on Zinio .air and it all installed ok. I also had to temporarily change security settings from Apple approved to Anywhere. All functioning now.

How to get errors and/or air.trace() from installed air app?

I'm trying to debug an installed air app that behaves
differently once installed than when run with adl. However, i can't
figure out any way to get errors or air.trace() information. I am
on OS X (10.5.6). Any tips?
I imagine this should be easy since debugging an installed
app is pretty much a necessity for development.

You can enable logging to a text file using settings in the
mm.cfg file. See

Note that ALL trace output will go to the log.
Other things you can do are:
1. Run the installed app with adl -- just pass the installed
app descriptor to adl on the command line
2. Supply a publisher id to adl. This removes one difference
between installed/ not installed apps and may be enough if the
behavior issue has to do with local connections or other matters
involving the publisher id.
3. Use the adl -nodebug flag. This removes another difference
between installed/uninstalled apps. You won't see uncaught
exceptions, but trace statements are still reported.

Error message in Robohelp Air

I've been fiddling around with the Robohelp Packager for Air
to create a help file. However, in my output, every time I click
the Preferences button at the bottom of the actual Air help file I
generated, I get an "Error while executing database query" message
appearing.
I then get to the Preferences window and can elect to
show/don't show the Mini TOC, etc. and that appears to work. But I
can't figure out why I'm getting that message (or what it means).
I think it relates somehow to the commenting feature because
I also can't add comments to a topic either. When I try, I get the
same "database query" message.
Any ideas?

My help id is simply three characters, alpha-numeric, and
with no spaces. So I don't think that's the issue.
The strange thing is, I get the database query error on my
machine (I wrote the Web help and I packaged the Air file).
But I installed the Air runtime as well as my Robohelp Air
help on a test machine here in the office and I don't get the
"database query" on that machine. I can also add comments while on
the test machine.
However, I can't get those comments into my Robohelp air help
on my machine using the Send/Receive error because of the "database
query" error.
There is also no hardware/setup differences between my
machine and the test machine that I am aware of. But I'm gonna plug
away and see if something else stands out.

Error when installing AIR app

When I try to install any Adobe Air app I receive an error around the 75% mark that says:
The instruction at "0×77a5e52e" reference memory at "0×000000x44". The memory could not be read.
I have uninstalled Adobe Air and reinstalled. I can't figure out the issue here. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Application error running air app

My air app is a sildeshow viewer which sends request to the
server and represents the response data using chart component.
I encounter a very tricky problem that when this app runs for
hours it will get a application error, as air dismiss all the
exception while running, I can not get the stacktrace. I tried
debug this app in flex builder, but still got a application error
from air debug launcher without exception stacktrace. That mean adl
crashed while I run my app.
The difficulty is that this error does not always occur. It
happens usually once a week while running , so I can not get the
location of the error generated.
The application error is kind of "memory could not be
written", so did anyone ever face this problem? And is there any
suggestion for me? I want to know what kind of exception could
crash adl.

This kind of error is bug. If you can capture a crash report
of some kind (use a web search to find out how to do that for your
OS) and file it as a bug, that'd be great.
That said, a common cause with applications that run for a
long time and use lots of data is that they run out of memory. You
might check your memory use; if it increases without bound, that's
a sign that your application is leaking.

What causes an AIR app crash (non-error type)

Pretty general question, but I'm curious as to what I should be looking for if...
- I randomly get the Test Movie Terminated message when compiling or running a desktop AIR app from Flash Pro IDE
- the installed AIR app crashes/terminates randomly from no apparent reason?

Does that mean when I'm coding, I should be making sure that functions etc are complete before the frame finishes? ie if my project is 12 fps, a function should never take longer than 83ms to complete?
no, (and going over budget wouldn't crash flash). going over budget means flash is not able to maintain the targeted frame rate. go over budget enough and you'll see your display stutter instead of maintain smooth animation. that's not relevant to a data app and not relevant to a crash problem.
you want to check the memory use and see if it is relentlessly increasing as you use your app. in particular, what's scout tell you when your app crashes.
My project isn't frame really specific - ie there's no animation or frame reliant graphics in particular. It's a data based app.
Does it just mean that my display will slow down if I'm jamming more processing in that a frame can handle, and should I be worried about it if my display isn't particularly important?

AIR App Made in Flash AS3 Installer Error

I created a desktop AIR 2.6 app using AS3 in Flash 5.5. After I publish it and try to install it I get this error:
The app works great when I just run the swfs. I have published apps before using the same software and haven't had any problems. This time I am pulling in mutliple swfs (haven't done that before), could that be the issue? I'm just spit balling here . . .

Hey demennenoh, thanks for the heads up. I feel a little stupid though. I had created air apps before and it has always asked me if I want to replace the one that is already installed, but not this time. Uninstall and reinstall fixed it...thanks again!

I have built an AIR app using ColdFusion 8.01 as the backend. I am getting this error occasionally on Remote Object calls. My suspicion is that the Channel being used by the RemoteObject is timing out. I'm not bothering to configure the Channel separately, I'm just going with the default that is part of the RemoteObject.
I'm using Cairngorm, with a ServiceLocator and my thought is that I could separately define my channel from the RemoteObject declaration and listen for timeout events on the Channel and refresh the Channel if it times out.
I'd be really interested in anyone's feedback on this issue.

Can you please try tracing the FaultEvent.fault.rootCause
object and see if there is any error message. Usually exceptions
thrown from the server is available in this rootCause object.
