RoboHelp HTML Output not compatible with IE 10/11

Hi,
My team is facing an issue with the WebHelp output generated using RoboHelp 11 (11.0.1.235). When we try to open the Output in IE 10 and IE 11, they work fine. But, when the Dev and QA teams try from their machines, the pages are just blank. This issue continues after integrating the Help with the application. The Dev team uses a RoboHelp patch (a .exe file) to perform the integration. Can anyone guide us on what is causing this issue? We are not quite sure if it is because of any settings or configurations or because of the patch used by the Dev team. We tried deleting the cache and history on IE.
As we have a release coming soon, any help will be highly appreciated.
Thanks.

@lagonkd In an offline email you advised me...
My problem (and the interesting workaround):
1. I would launch my WebHelp index.htm file. My Online help Welcome page and TOC would display perfectly.
2. Any topic I selected in the TOC would display a blank page.
3. I performed many, many suggestions you and others had in forums...nothing worked. (Yes, I literally beat my forehead against my desk today....)
4. Pulled my IT guy in to see if it was an imaging problem or Windows security update incompatibility issue.
5. We right-clicked the top of the browser bar (right-clicking the Menu bar works too). When the toolbars menu popped up, we deselected one of the toolbar options to make space....magically, the blank topic page displayed its content and the online help worked fine after that.
6. We exited the WebHelp folder, then reopened it. The issues in steps 1 and 2 above occurred again. We performed the toolbar action, and again, the blank page displayed its content and the online help worked perfectly afterwards. Any toolbar option selected or deselected would bring up the hidden content. It appears that you must perform the toolbar action once each time you open the WebHelp folder...
You have tacked on to an existing thread and I cannot see anywhere that you have mentioned which version of Rh you are using. There was a version where when you opened the help it displayed a blank page but if you resized the window, it then displayed. I think that when you change the toolbars displayed it is having the same effect as resizing the window did. I believe the problem was resolved with a patch for that version.

  • Robohelp 11 output not compatible with IE11 and IE10

I am new to RoboHelp 11 and we've a release looming over us. The web help output files are not loading on other computers but are working fine at my end or my colleague's system (we both have RoboHelp installed in our systems)  We used Robohelp 8 for the previous release and upgraded to the latest version particularly for this release.  After integrating web files into the application, the developers found that the files are not compatible. Now we've too short a time to downgrade to Robohelp 8  Can anyone give us a suggestion on why output files are working on certain systems but not on others. Is it because I have the source files on my machines and others don't?

    Hi there
RoboHelp 11 output should be working for things. But here's what I'd check.
    1. Ensure you have any and all updates applied to RoboHelp 11. If you find you need an update, you will need to apply it, then generate the output again to ensure that the output is set up properly.
    2. It's possible that you need to simply delete all the output files from the server where you copied it. Then copy the totally new set of output files from your machine to the server.
    Cheers... Rick

  • RoboHelp HTML 11 Webhelp output not compatible with IE9?

We recently updated our software Help files using RoboHelp HTML 11.  Today our customer support team received a call from a customer that cannot access the Help files from his system.  He is using IE9 and an older version of Chrome, and cannot view Help in either browser.  The customer refuses to update the browser on his server, presumably because he's afraid something else won't work if he does.  I can sympathize with that, since there are certain applications on my own system that are incompatible with IE11, so I've had to roll back to 10. So, I know the files work on IE10, IE11, Firefox and the latest version of Chrome.  Searching through the discussions, I found one that indicated that RoboHelp 11 required IE9 or above; if so, it's odd that it won't work. Do you have any suggestions of what I can do that might help the customer?

Sorry, different thread – I thought Willam had posted site’s article reference on this one (it’s here - http://www.wvanweelden.eu/articles/robohelp-patches-and-updates).
I think you may need to do a bit of exploration on what’s going on at the client site to see what they’re getting. You may want them to clear out their cache to refresh what they’re getting when they access your help. You also probably want them to have a look at what zone their IE9 thinks you help is located in & if they’ve enabled ActiveX and JavaScript (not Java) in their browsers.

  • .CHM NOT compatible with Vista?

    Hey everyone,
I'm working with a programming team to determine the best
Vista-compatible help format to use for an existing help project.
The project was built using RH X5 for Word and the original output
was WinHelp 2000. I thought that .CHM would be the logical (and
easiest) solution, so I got a copy of the help project and created
a "test" .CHM build using only one of the source Word files (I
"deselected" the remainder - there are 535 Word files with over
2,000 topics in the original project).
During testing, the programming team encountered the
following message when they tried to open the .CHM file on a Vista
machine. I'm pretty sure that they linked the .CHM file to the
    supporting application.
Here's the message they sent me as a screenshot:
"Why can't I get Help from this program?
The Help for this program was created in Windows Help format,
which was used in previous versions of Windows and it is not
    supported in Windows Vista.
For more information, see Windows Help program (WinHlp32.exe)
is no longer included with Windows (link) on the Microsoft support
    website."
Any ideas about questions I can ask the programming team to
find a solution to this issue? Do I need to build the .CHM using
RoboHelp HTML and NOT RoboHelp for Word?
    Thanks,
    Jim

    Dirk,
Thanks for the additional info. I'm meeting with the
Developer tomorrow am to see how the app, xml file, and .chm are
working together. I'll be sure to ask about the LoadLibrary. Is
this something specific to Delphi or is it/was it used for all apps
that linked to a .CHM? Found out late yesterday that they're using
    Delphi 2005.

  • I need to silently upgrade from 3.5 to 7 but get an error message after 7 install. Platform version 7.0 is not compatible with minVersion = 1.9.1

I'm trying to silently upgrade my environment to FF 7. I've gotten the silent install working great, it puts in my Proxy Server info, reassigns the home page and all that. But, the last version we pushed out was FF 3.5. If a user had that on their PC and they run the FF7 install, they get weird messages when clicking on the icon.

Do you have other virtualization or security software that might protect .ini and possibly other files in the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\) and prevent Firefox from updating them properly?
You need to do a clean reinstall.
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 7.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Uninstall your current Firefox version.
    * Do not remove personal data when you uninstall the current version or you lose your bookmarks and other data in the profile folder.
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
    * It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • Photoshop CS2: "file not compatible with this version of Photoshop" error

So, I've been working with Photoshop for almost 20 years now, and lately I've been getting this error message on occasion (but not on every file) when I go to open a file I worked on just yesterday: "Could not complete your request because the file is not compatible with this version of Photoshop." I just worked on it yesterday in Photoshop. The file was saved as a PSD, and when I attempt to open it through Painter IX, that program tells me that it's not a Photoshop document. Why can't I open this file anymore, and why is it giving me this error message when I don't have Norton AntiVirus installed, and my 'maximize PSD and PSB file compatibility' is set to 'always'??
Does anyone have an idea on how I can open my file? How can I get around this, and how do I prevent it from happening again?

This is the boilerplate text I use in connection to saving to a network (please NOTE the part where it explains that normally, it does work, but that it is impossible to troubleshoot someone else's network remotely, and that's why it's not supported by Adobe):
If you are opening files over a network or saving them to a network server, please
    cease and desist immediately
in the event you are currently experiencing problems with one or more files.
Working across a network is not supported.
    See:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/techdocs/322391.html
    Copy the
CLOSED file from your server to your local hard disk, work on it, save it again to your local hard disk, close it, and copy the closed file back to the server.
Of course, the fact that Adobe does not support working across a network does not necessarily mean it won't work. It should.
Adobe's position is that there are too many variables in a network environment for them to guarantee that everything will work correctly in every network, especially given the fact that if something does
not work properly, it's probably the network's fault, and Adobe has no way of troubleshooting your network.
If you can't work locally, you are on your own, and if something happens, you're on your own. If you must work from a server, make sure your network administrator is a competent professional.
When problems arise, a lot of valuable work can be lost.

  • Old Bookmarks are not compatible with Firefox version 20+

    Background Information:
I use the old client version 3.6 as there's an old utility addon that the author stopped updating and will not work with the newer revisions. Despite disabling the update feature both in about:config and in preferences, the browser still eventually updates (Originally I was using 3.4, and would prefer to use that, but no matter how much I try I can no longer roll it back from 3.6 to 3.4 even if I reinstall using a 3.4 installer). As a result I've had a habit of keeping a copy of my firefox directory in case it updates itself again without asking, which it has. This might help you guys out in answering the countless people who have lost their bookmarks due to the upgrades released this year, and will hopefully someone to investigate and release a patch/utility to fix the issue.
    Issue:
I have verified that the newest clients from at least version 20 and onwards, are not compatible with the older bookmark JSON files. People who have been upgraded to the latest revision not only lose their bookmarks, but CANNOT restore them either, as Firefox will only return the error message: "Unable to Process the Backup File".
I have confirmed that the files themselves are perfectly intact with no sign of corruption, and are as intended. They restore ok to older browser revisions (In my case specifically 3.6), but will not restore to the newer client revisions. This is not a fault with the bookmark backups, but with the newer clients (I'm guessing they changed the way they store the information in the JSONs at some point. I note in the code for the JSONs that GUID was never used in the older revisions, but it is in the newer revisions. Perhaps this is causing an incompatibility issue? You just need to adjust the client so that it looks for the GUID and if none can be found to ignore it rather than decide the file is corrupt.

    Solution?
Well in my case I had a backup copy of the old revision directory. To restore I opened the copy, and exported the bookmarks as an HTML, which I restored in the newer client. If you do not have a copy of the old client, the best thing would be to try and reinstall an older revision of the client and either make a copy of the program folder and use another copy of that so you can use both the new and old clients and not worry about the loss of an older revision since you'll always have 2 copies of the old client (One you're using, one you use to restore if it upgrades). Or you export the bookmarks as an HTML, then upgrade the client to the newest and import the HTML instead of the JSON files.
Please investigate and create an easier solution to a silly incompatibility issue. ^_^

This happens if you create a backup and forget to add the file extension manually when Firefox didn't add it automatically or you may have removed it when modifying the suggested name.
