RoboHelp HTML won't open

I haven't used my RoboHelp in a few months and now
that I need to do some work in it I can't get it to open. What is
weird is that if I try to open RoboHelp for Word, that opens. But,
if I select the link for RoboHelp HTML or RoboHelp Starter neither
will open up. RoboHelp HTML shows in the task manager but never
opens. I'm running X5. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated as I
really need to get busy on this project.
Thanks,
Deb

Sorry, no, I've had the same login to this computer since it
was built last year which is when I installed RoboHelp.

  • RoboHelp HTML 8  - avoid opening a new browser window

How do I avoid opening a new browser window every time I call the context sensitive help from within Java?
I am using Robohelp HTML 8 with IE8
I am calling it this way from Java:
    RoboHelp_CSH.RH_ShowHelp(0, "C:\\\RoboHelp\\!SSL!\\WebHelp\\XHelp_File.htm", RoboHelp_CSH.HH_HELP_CONTEXT, 2);

    Hi,
    Welcome to Adobe forum,
As I understand you are trying to open the hyperlinks in a new window instead of a tab.
Well it is possible in Robohelp 8 HTML
Here are the steps which you need to follow.
    1. Select the text Right click on it and then select Insert Hyperlink.
Once you click on the Insert Hyperlink another Popup window will appear in your screen.
You need to check this screenshot and select the appropriate option.
Try and generate the Webhelp and see if that helps you,
I hope that will resolve your issue. Please reply if that resolves your issue.
    Thanks

  • RoboHelp HTML won't start

So I've installed RoboHelp 7 on a Windows XP SP2 box with
    sufficient resources.
    RH 7 Word loads.
    RH7 HTML loads.
i reboot the PC; RH7 Word loads. RH7 HTML does nothing, no
matter which way I try to start it up.
On a 2nd XP box, with a new install of XP SP2, everything
    works fine.
Unsurprisingly, I do not want to rebuild the first XP box,
which is used by our web developer, simply to get RH7 HTML to work
    - I'd rather find out what is blocking the HTML start-up.
there are no clues in Eventvwr and I cannot see any way of
finding out what part of the start-up process may be failing.
anyone comes across similar problems or have any pointers
about where/how to discover what the sticking point is?
    thanks
    John

    Hi everyone,
I have the same problem, so that makes 4! I have FrameMaker, PhotoShop, Acrobat installed and running XP SP3. Talked to technical service this morning, tried just about everything and it still does not work. I can see the process robohtml.exe starting in the task manager but it's gone after 1 second. Same thing for RH for Word.
I really don't want to reinstall my laptop. The worst thing is I wanted to try it before buying it, but if it doesn't work on my PC, I won't buy it for sure!
If you have any new development on this, let me know. I have a case open with Adobe, so I'll let you know if they find anything.
    Good luck!

  • RoboHelp HTML - Trying to open any browse or explorer window causes a freeze

    Hi,
I am using RoboHelp 9 HTML. Trying to open any Browsing window in the project, like the browse button in Insert Image or even a project, not through Recent, causes the application to freeze.
I tried uninstalling and re-installing with no luck.
    Please any suggestions?
    Thanks,

Or maybe the dialog boxes have somehow moved off the screen. Usually this happens when switching between single/multi monitors, e.g. when working on a laptop on the train vs tethered to a larger monitor at work/home. Even if you haven't worked with multiple monitors, it's possible something weird could have caused this to happen.
    Anyway, try the following:
    1. Open a problem window. Make sure you don't click anywhere after doing this.
    2. Press Alt Spacebar M.
    3. Press any arrow key.
    4. Waggle the mouse madly until the dialog box appears.
    5. Click to place it where you want.
Hopefully this is the problem and fixing one window should fix all of the "file open" type dialog boxes.

  • RoboHelp 5 won't open

    Hi all,
I have used RoboHelp 5 on my machine successfully for some
time - until today I have never had a problem opening it.
I have not had the chance to open it for a few weeks due to
other work, and now when I double-click the icon it goes straight
to a Windows Installer, saying it is "preparing to install".
So obviously something I've installed recently does not play
well with RoboHelp 5. Recently I have installed Captivate 3, as
well as Crystal Reports XI. Does anyone have any guess as to what
RH might be trying to install? Or perhaps any knowledge on what is
the first dll RH tries to run when it loads?
Or perhaps I'm all wet and this is not a dll issue at all?
    Thanks!
    Chris

Umm! I wonder whether the Captivate install has interfered
with one of the RoboHelp .DLLs. Another potential culprit may be
any trial version of RoboHelp installed that you have since
removed? In either case, I fear the only solution may be to
uninstall/reinstall RoboHelp. Before you remove it, check you have
the disk or correct SETUP.EXE otherwise you'll have to go to Adobe
with your licence details to get them.

  • RoboHelp HTML will not open at all

I was running into repeated Visual Studio debugger errors, so I followed some solutions listed here on the forum.  When I logged back onto my machine, I received a User Profile may be corrupt error.  After I logged in, RoboHTML would not launch. No response.  My Admin rebuilt my user profile, but still no luck, even though when the Admin logs in to the same machine, the Admin can run RoboHTML, but not myself.  I have rights to my machine, too, but only the Domain Admin can seem to run the app now on my machine.  Any thoughts?  Greatly appreciated.

The project won't open after that. When I look ate my files they seem to be intact even though the message says the folder is missing from
    Your help is greatly appreciated.
    Thank you,
    Joy

    Hi Joy
Unless I'm mistaken, K would be a network drive, no?
Unfortunately RoboHelp is only one of a host of applications that doesn't fare well if you try to make edits to a project while it resides on a network drive.
Try copying the project to your local C drive. Perhaps create a folder named Projects and copy your project to a folder named Primo Intranet inside that folder so it looks like this:
    C:\Projects\Primo Intranet
Once you do this, try opening your project again and you will likely have better luck.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Safari won't open webarchives or html documents stored on computer

I occasionally save a webpage to my computer as a .webarchive for later usage, but anytime I try to open them safari takes me to a completely different page. It brings me to my Top Sites page that shows all of my most frequently visited pages. I don't understand why safari would do this since the way the document is created is by saving the page directly in safari (command + S). I noticed the problem initially when Safari wouldn't open an html document that I had created and stored on my computer. I used the page as my homepage because it had links to all of my most frequent websites and because I liked having my own creation as my home page (that doesn’t really matter, though) and then out of nowhere when I opened safari my homepage had been changed to Yahoo (my default engine) and the html document wouldn’t open at all. I thought that maybe the problem was due to a recent update because I noticed that two new tabs were added to the toolbar (ebay and amazon), but I don’t understand why an update would make it so that .webarchive files, created by safari, wont open. I checked my safari version, it is 7.0.3, and if it helps, the html documents that won't open were made with Adobe Dreamweaver. I would really appreciate if someone could tell me what is happening because I do need to be able to open the .webarchive files I have saved in the past. Thank you.

Carolyn, I've told you repeatedly, that site's instructions are crap. They absolutely do not fully remove the Genieo adware. In fact, the uninstaller that site refers you to will actually install components of the adware that were not already present! For the same reason, it makes no sense to rely on Genieo's instructions. I am completely mystified as to why you continue to post these suggestions.

  • Can't create or open a project in Robohelp HTML 8

    Hi,
I just installed RoboHelp HTML 8.0.0.203 trial on Windows XP (SP3). It's the first RoboHelp
version I've installed on this computer.
No error occured during installation the program starts normally.
    1. When I try to create a new empty project the program only creates the folder with
    following files and folders:
    !SkinSubFolder!
    Adobe AIR.ssl
    default.css
    FlashHelp Pro.ssl
    FlashHelp.ssl
    Microsoft HTML Help.ssl
    testproject.cpd
    testproject.glo
    testproject.hpr
    testproject.ppf
    testproject.syn
    WebHelp Pro.ssl
    WebHelp.ssl
At the moment when the new project file should open nothing happens not even an error
    message.
    2. When I try to open the sample project file CCC.xpj an error prompt tells me that the
opening of the project was aborted or CCC.cpd couldn't be loaded.
    3. When I try to import a PDF (File>New>Project>Import>PDF) an "unexpected error" occures
    during conversion.
I already reinstalled RoboHelp and I have administrator rights, but still the same problem.
P.S. I had the same problem on another system with the Robohelp 7 trial some months ago.
But RoboHelp X5 works fine on a third system, I consider an upgrade if the problem can be solved.

Well I tested to install RoboHelp 8 on my machine at home where the RoboHelp 7 trial didn’t work. At first with Comodo Firewall Pro enabled and it blocked the two attempts of Windows Installer to access the internet. ->Creating a project still doesn’t work.
Then I uninstalled Robohelp 8 and disabled the firewall. Installed Robohelp 8 again and tried to create a project but it still doesn’t work.
Also I installed Robohelp 8 on different machines at home (XP, Vista Business, 7 Professional) all running with Zonalarm Firewall and it worked.
But installing a new OS is no option for the company especially when everything else works fine.
Before I opened this thread I googled some time for this problem but couldn’t find anything. This is weird because I’ve installed it on two systems which have noting in common besides both run XP.

  • RoboHelp HTML 9.0.2.271 crashes when opening .htm files

Hello. I'm using RoboHelp HTML 9.0.2.271. When opening a certain RH project (I have three that I access regularly), the project opens fine, but when I try to open any of the topic files, RH hangs/crashes. I can perform any other tasks in the project (generating, publishing, updating the browse sequence, etc.), but I can't open any .htm files. In trying to fix this problem, I have:
Updated from 9.0 to first 9.0.1 then 9.0.2
    Renamed the .cpd file
Imported one of the topics in the crashing project to a project that isn't crashing
Updating and renaming the .cpd file didn't work and importing the topic into a healthy project allowed the topic to open (so the topic doesn't seem corrupt).

Also using 9.0.2.271, I had exactly the same problem: open project, double-click a topic in the Topic List pane... crash.
However, immediately after opening the project I had Windows 7's blue 'busy' doughnut symbol constantly flashing under the mouse pointer. This is described (for RH8) in Peter Grainge's description on his excellent website (RoboHelp > Opening RoboHelp Projects). The same topic mentions the .hhp file, so I checked the contents of mine...
At the very end, in the [MERGE FILES] section, it listed two other .chm files; one which was supposed to be there, and one which was not (Dummy.chm). I had merged Dummy.chm only during the early testing stages of my project, and had long since removed all references to it from my project. I have no idea why it was still listed in the .hhp file.
I deleted the reference to Dummy.chm from the .hhp file and regenerated the project... and Dummy.chm reappeared in the .hhp file!  After deep-searching my project files using NotePad++, one remaining reference to Dummy.chm was also listed in the .xpj file:
      <file>
       <name>Dummy.chm</name>
       <comments></comments>
      </file>
So I manually removed those lines and saved the .xpj using NotePad++, reopened the project using RoboHelp, and regenerated. The rogue reference to Dummy.chm is now gone. I have opened, saved, and closed the project several times and it now seems to be reliable.
Probable cause of bug: I had recently performed a cleanup of my project folder and deleted Dummy.chm, but unknown to me I suspect RoboHelp was still looking for it when opening the project, hence the permanent 'busy' doughnut and the crash when trying to do anything else, like opening a topic.

  • Why does RCS prompt me to check out the .XPJ file when I open RoboHelp HTML?

We just upgraded from X3 to X5 and began using RoboSource
Control. We currently have a dedicated server machine and 1 client
machine (we'll be adding 3 more client machines once I resolve all
issues with this one). I have working folders set up on each
machine so I can open the Help projects with RoboHelp HTML.
The issue here is that I often receive the following prompt
in a dialog box when I open a Help project in RH HTML:
"To add version control information to this project, the
files in the list below need to be checked out from version
control. Do you want to check out these files?" (The only file
    listed is the .XPJ file.)
I only seem to receive this message after I have opened that
particular Help project on the other PC. E.g., I open Help project
A on the Server. If I close it, I can re-open the Help project on
that machine multiple times without receiving the message. However,
if I then open Help project A on the client machine, I'll get the
prompt to check out the XPJ file. If I check it out, I can then
re-open the Help project on that machine multiple times without
receiving the message. Of course, if check in the XPJ file from the
client machine, I'll get the prompt on the Server machine to check
it out the next time I go to open it up from there.
    Thoughts?

    Dirk,
Thanks for the suggestions. I was prompted to check out the
XPJ for one of our Help projects this morning. I clicked
No (to NOT check out the XPJ file from the database), then
    selected the
File Status tab, right-clicked on the XPJ file, selected
Show Differences... and discovered that the XPJ file in the
database had the following version control related text, whereas
the XPJ file in the working folder on my SERVER machine did not
(the working folder copy on my CLIENT machine matched the file in
    the database):
Note: This code appears between a <miscproperties> line
and a <CompileOptions> line (both XPJ files had these two
    lines).

  • Opening RoboHelp HTML ver. 9.0 Projects - Out of memory error

I have just updated to Technical Communication Suite 3 which includes RoboHelp HTML 9. I have installed all of the latest updates as of 6/20/2011. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit OS, 6GB RAM. Note that I still have RoboHelp HTML 7 installed on the machine.
I can use all of the Technical Communication Suite applications (e.g., FrameMaker 10, PhotoShop CS5, etc) except RoboHelp 9.0. When I attempt to open any project (including the sample projects listed on the Starter screen, I receive the error:

  • Can't create new projects in RoboHelp HTML 7

When I try to create a new projects in RoboHelp HTML 7, the
Projects Type field is blank on the New tab of hte New Project
dialog box. I just bought this product after using the trial
version for 30 days. I can open the projects I created before but
can't create new projects. Help! I need it now!

OK, this problem is solved -- the problem was RoboSource
Control 3.1. I realized that I had installed RoboSource Control 3.1
during my Trial install (the option to install it is checked by
default). By re-running the Trial download (thank God I saved it) I
was able to uninstall RoboSource Control 3.1. (I could not
uninstall it using the Tech Comm Suite installer or the Add/Remove
function in the Windows Control Panel)
Then I ran the Tech Comm Suite install and reinstalled
RoboHelp 7 (without installing RoboSource Control 3.1).
Now RoboHelp 7 HTML works again. Note that only the HTML
version was screwed up -- the Word version ran OK, I just don't
    need it.
Finally, I just want to say, Adobe Tech Support *SUCKS*.
After spending a half hour on my initial call on Sept. 26th, "Ken"
directed me to the Adobe Support web page and told me to enter my
problem myself -- thanks for nothing, Ken. He promised a 24 hour
turn around, which did not happen.
When I called back on Sept. 29th, I wasted another hour with
Natasha and Sam, who had me run CSClean, which wiped out my
registry entries for Acrobat and Photoshop, forcing a reinstall of
those products. Of course, that did not help me at all.
Adobe, please stop outsourcing your Tech Support to India --
    those guys know nothing!
The replies to this issue on the "Customer Support Portal"
have been slow, indifferent and unhelpful. Shame on them!
I'm posting this fix to this problem on this Forum, so the
next poor slob may be able to fix their problem themselves as I
did, 'cause Tech Support sure won't help!
