RoboHelp unable to start word

Using RoboHelp 7 & Word 2003 (service packs installed) on
XP.
I try to open an old project RoboHelp 6.
Word Starts.
However after a long period of time I get a dialog box
saying: 'RoboHelp Explorer is unable to start Microsoft Word'.
Bit of a show stopper... What can I do to get past this
hurdle?
Thanks
Damian

Does not appear to be this issue.
I believe that the installation is not valid. I originally
installed without word being present (nothing in the quick start
about order of installation!).
I have subsequently uninstalled robohelp and reinstalled
however the Tool Locations says that robohelp was not installed for
this version of Word...
I am working through technote rb_3023.

  • RoboHelp Error Message - Unable to start Word

I just recently updated to the full version of 6.0 (I was
previously using X5 and had the 6.0 Upgrade). When I open the
RoboHelp Explorer and try to load any of my projects, the correct
Word document opens at the start, but then the Explorer hangs. If I
click anywhere, I get the error message, "RoboHelp Explorer was
    unable to start Word."
Another person has been able to open the same project from
their machine. I've tried copying the templates from the other user
(Local Disk > Documents and Settings (user) > Application
Data > Microsoft > Templates) as well as the Adobe templates
    (Program Files > Adobe > RoboHelp 6.0 > RoboHELP >
Template > Custom > Custom 1 and Custom 2). I have also tried
deleting the .RTF files from the project so that they'd have to
    re-generate.
The other user is still on X5 with the 6.0 Upgrade. Is the
problem specific to that? Has anyone else seen this error message
    before?

    Hi Kaherns,
I've experienced the same problem, solved it as described
below. Not the must beautiful solution, but better than
reinstalling RH each and every day.
In my case, the "unable to start Word" problem was related to
a .dot file mess up created by RH in
    Local Disk>Documents and Settings (user)>Application
    Data>Microsoft>Templates.
    1. Reinstall RH.
    2. In Windows Explorer, open the
    Local Disk>Documents and Settings (user)>Application
    Data>Microsoft>Templates folder.
    3. Make a backup of the fresh, non-corrupted RoboHELP.dot by
copying (not moving) it to any place on your computer or network.
    4. When RH shows "Unable to start Word", close the project
    and RH.
    5. In Windows Explorer, open the
    Local Disk>Documents and Settings (user)>Application
    Data>Microsoft>Templates folder.
    6. Make sure that hidden files are shown (
    Tools>Folder options>View...).
    7. Delete
    RoboHELP.dot,
    ~$boHELP.dot, and
    ~$Normal.dot.
    8. Copy the backup RoboHELP.dot created in step 3 to the
    Local Disk>Documents and Settings (user)>Application
    Data>Microsoft>Templates folder.
    9. Restart Word. If prompted to start Word in safe mode,
    select
    No.
Now, my RH does this a couple of times per day so I use a
batch file, instead of copying files manually:
    1. Create a copy of the
    Local Disk>Documents and Settings (user)>Application
Data>Microsoft>Templates folder (on the desktop, for
    example).
    2. Make sure that the folder contains a non-corrupted
    RoboHELP.dot file and that
    ~$boHELP.dot, and
~$Normal.dot are not in the folder.
    3. Insert the below code in a text file and save it as a .bat
on an easy-to-access place (the desktop, for example).
    @echo off
    rmdir /s /q "C:\Documents and
    Settings\<user>\Application Data\Microsoft\Templates"
    xcopy /s /i "<path to copied Templates folder>"
    "C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application
    Data\Microsoft\Templates"
    4. As RH goes bananas, close RH and then double click the
.bat file. The corrupted files are now replaced.
    5. Open RH.
Of course, I take no resonsibility for any problems you might
    run into trying the above.

  • RoboHelp unable to start Microsoft Word

    Running Win 2K SP4, Robo X5.0.1, Word 2003.
Opening existing project (new to me) puts Word in wrong size
window (overlaps editor) and I can't get back to RoboHelp editor
window (busy/hourglass) unless I close the Word window first.
Closing the Word window gets a message that RoboHelp editor is
unable to start Microsoft Word, even though Word was running.
However, after closing Word, I could get back to RoboHelp editor
    window.
I can start a new project and import the .doc files. That
works okay as far as the above problem is concerned, but tends to
make a mess and needs lots of recovery work for things like browse
    sequences.

    Hi Rick,
You're absolutely right about Blue Sky. In the beginning,
RoboHelp was not the best product, but it had better marketing on
the enterprize level so I wound up having to use it.
    Hi Peter,
(By the way, this is a stand-alone machine on a home network
and I am the only user for this particular machine. I run from a
    renamed admin account.)
The Help menu indicates that there are no available updates.
I have checked everything on your site that seemed to have ANY
relevance at all. (Thanks for a great site.) I didn't find anything
under either print or install that helped, but I may not have
thought how you might index this problem. I have also checked all
the topics in this forum without finding anything on this
    particular problem.
In the mean time, the overlap seems to be gone (i.e., the
window position is now as it should be), but I'm still locked out
of the RoboHelp pane whenever Word is open (by RH) and I still get
the "unable to start Microsoft Word" error message after I close
Word. RH doesn't seem to be getting the message that Word has
    opened the requested file.
Thanks for the effort you are putting in on this.

  • Robohelp is unable to start Microsoft Word - one more time

    Hello,
I read the previous post on this error and though the message is the same, I do not think the circumstances are.
I am using xp prof, office 2010 (recently installed), and after that I recently d/l Robohelp 9 from the website.
I am having many problems involving this message, but I set out today to get the simplest problem i could.
So, i opened RH 9 from the start menu/all programs. I selected 'new project' and filled in the title and file name (project2_title, project2_file)
The RH explorer opens.  Word 2010 opens.  The RH explorer still has an hourglass.  After 1-2 minutes, the hourglass is gone and the error message 'Robohelp is unable to start Microsoft Word' appears.
    I click 'ok'
Hourglass, blanked out RH explorer which eventually does return.
I click ctrl_t for a new topic, get the dialog, accept the defaults,  and eventually the hour glass goes away and I have the same error message.
I click ok and i do not have the new topic when i expand the topic list.
When i first started this, i was able to add a topic, but no longer. (last week was when i started).
I have also tried to open the existing topic that was created using rh7 and having opened it, tried generating primary layout.  I got an error file with an error for almost every topic. (But this can be the next problem).
Thanks for any help you can offer.
    Miriam

    Hello Miriam Schneidmill,
    You can try this workaround.
First of all close Robohelp Word
    Go to    C:\Users\Username\AppData\Microsoft\Templates
and look for RoboHELP.dot and just rename that file extension to old, ggod or anything you wish, say Robohelp.bad.
    Then close this.
Now try to open Robohelp Word and see are you facing the same issue or not?
    Hope it helps!!!
    Thank you

  • RoboHelp is unable to start RoboHelp Explorer

I recently installed RoboHelp 9 on my Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit computer. I worked in it for a day, editing a previously existing robohelp file that was created in version 6. Yesterday when I tried to open RoboHelp, it wouldn't open. The RoboHelp splash page quickly flashes on and off but does not open. I went to the .doc file for the project and tried to open that, but Word gives me an error that "RoboHelp is unable to start RoboHelp Explorer". It does open the word doc, but no RoboHelp Explorer. I've rebooted my machine, no luck.
Any ideas? I had this same issue with Adobe Captivate when I tried to load an old version on this machine... the answer seemed to be that it wasn't compatible with 64-bit... I installed the trial version of Captivate and have been running that for two weeks with no issues so far. But my understanding was that RoboHelp 9 was fine with 64-bit...
    Thanks!

    Hello again
You should probably consider filing a bug report. That way it will be on Adobe's radar. And you never know, sometimes the development team shoots back a message advising what to do or asking for further information. Doesn't happen always, but once in a while it does.
    Cheers... Rick

  • 0xc000007  The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Get this when run RoboHelp 10

I get a RoboHTML.exe - Application Error when I try to start RoboHelp 10 HTML.  It says:
The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b).  Click OK to close the application.
I have uninstalled and re-installed RoboHelp 10 several times but it made no difference.
    What can I do?
    Thanks,
    Diane Heald
    [Email removed]

Yes it did work fine.  The problem was that I could not view the Single Source JavaHelp output on my PC after I generated it. I know you have to download Java JDK, etc. and I've done that many times over the years and each time it was a huge hassle, but finally got it to work.
But RoboHelp worked fine and the output worked fine in my customer's Java program.  Since I could not view the output, a programmer at my client's site looked up the error message online and gave me some links to look at.  I did what one of those links said by downloading something.  I don't remember what at this point.  It was then that I would get the message anytime I tried to run RoboHelp.  So I cannot run RoboHelp now.
If I can just get rid of this error message and be able to run RoboHelp, I am OK with not even being able to run the JavaHelp viewer.  I've dealt with that many times over the years on various computers and it is always a huge hassle.  I'll just look at it after my customer loads it into their application.
Thanks so much for any help you can provide!
    Diane

  • Sorry, something went wrong and Word was unable to start (6) Office 2013

Ok this is just so annoying.
Whenever I try to open Word, it gives the error "Sorry, something went wrong and Word was unable to start.(6)". Other office applications either freeze or crash. Only Excel works fine. Running Win7 64 bit.
Tried all possible ways of installation/reinstallation. Did repair, uninstalled and reinstalled manually, uninstalled with FixIt from Microsoft, removed every leftover thing from registry. Also removed some other applications that I thought could cause this
    problem for Office.
Uninstalled 64 bit Office, and installed 32 bit, same exact problems.
!!!Don't suggest me to run as administrator please!!!

    Hi,
According to your description, I suppose that Word 2013 was blocked by some other applications after you opening it.
Which operation system do you use?  Have you installed the Office 2013 SP1?
Then, we try to do some tests to narrow down the issue:
    1. Collect the Event log
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/what-information-event-logs-event-viewer#1TC=windows-7
    2. Use the
Process Monitor to collect the detailed information.
Open process monitor, and reproduce this issue, if there is any files or keys were blocked during the process. Please let me know,  and you could save as the file from process monitor, upload the file through One Drive and share the link to me. I'll
    analysis it.

  • Sorry, something went wrong and word was unable to start (2)

I have been using office home and student fine until now when it will not open, at first it would say it was unable to open with error message 40 now it is error message number 2, I have no idea how to open it.
    help please?

    Hi,
Is the complete error message "Sorry, something went wrong and Word was unable to start. (40)" and “Sorry, something went wrong and Word was unable to start. (2)”?
I agree with Sunil Shrikant Vyasasamudra. First you can repair Office from Control Panel > Programs and Features, maybe Office installation is corrupt.
If it doesn’t work, you can try “Fix it” tool in the KB below.
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2827031
If there is anything else I can do for you on this matter, don't hesitate to tell me.

  • Sorry, something went wrong and word was unable to start (40)

so recently, my ms word has not been working at all. It doesn't work, whether I open a new document or an existing file, and it shows the error message 'sorry, something went wrong and Word was unable to start. (40). It only started to show up recently,
and i was wondering if it was because i have not yet updated to the latest version of Windows 8, which i have been unable to do successfully. I have already tried to open in safe mode, and the fix it tool. Does anyone have any idea what i can do?

    Did other programs work well?

  • MS Word 2013 unable to start. "Sorry, something went wrong and word was unable to start. (6)

I am trying to open MS Word 2013. I have purchased the MS Office online and pay a subscription. When opening MS Word, it comes up with the error message "Sorry, something went wrong and word was unable to start. (6)" This appears to be happening
with all MS office applications. Can someone please help?

I faced this same problem and reinstalled office several times but no luck, then followed below steps and got my issue resolved:
Solution is that you run word in "Administrative" mode:
To run the Word program in administrator mode, try the step below:
    · go to Computer, Programs files/Program files X (86).
    · Look for Microsoft Office ->Office 15.
    · Look for Winword.exe
    · Right click on it and click
    Properties
    · Click on the Compatibility tab
and check the box forRun as admin.
    · Clickok.

  • Word is unable to start. (19)

Word is unable to start. (19)
using word 2013 unable to open file from the internet explorer

    Hi,
Is this the complete error message that you've received?
"Sorry, something went wrong and Word was unable to start. (19) "
What exactly do you mean by "open file from the internet explorer"? Does Word 2013 work well with local documents?
This is probably due to the Protected View settings of Word 2013 and the Internet is considered an unsafe location. To troubleshoot the issue, please first try to untick the option of "Enable Protected View for files originating from the Internet"
in Trust Center, then verify result:
Go to FILE>Options>Trust Center>Trust Center Settings>Protected View>Un-select the "Enable Protected View for files originating from the Internet"
(Please note, by doing this, files that downloaded from 'unknown' sources could cause harm on your computer if you open it.)

  • RH unable to open Word

I am working with RH X5 on Windows XP running MSWord 2003.
My problem is that when I open my project in RH for Word
(using WinHelp 4) I get a message that says "Unable to open MS
    Word" or something like that.
As a result, when I make changes to my document and then
compile, none of the changes appear in the compiled help file.
So, can I delete my document from RH and then import it again
to see if RH will connect to it and then display my changes in the
    .HLP file after compiling??
    Thank You

The error specifically states, "RoboHelp Explorer is unable
    to start Microsoft Word"..
I tried some of the things you mentioned and those I found on
your site, but to no avail..
Also, if I select to Edit a topic from the RH Explorer with
the document open, Word does go to the topic, RH just doesnt seem
to pick up those changes and display them after compiling..
    Thank You

    HI

WINWORD.EXE -Application Error The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000142). Click ok to close the application.
    Please advise

    Hi,
Does Word start in Safe Mode?
Press Win key + R, type "winword.exe /safe" in the blank box, press Enter.
If Word can start in Safe Mode, the issue should be related to 3rd-party add-ins, disable the suspicious add-ins to determine which one caused the problem.
You can also try repairing Office from Control Panel -> Programs and Features, check if this helps.

  • Error "Unable to load word breaker for locale 0. Error code 8007007e." with search service application.

I recreate the Search service application and the default Content source stayning in the 'Recovering' status.
The log give multiple error 'Unable to load word breaker for locale 0. Error code 8007007e.'
The default language is English and the reference in registry for word breaker dll is naturallanguage1.dll but I found only the naturallanguage6.dll.

    Hi,
For your issue, check your current language settings and ensure that search supports the current language.
On the SharePoint Server open Registry Editor (Start -> type “Regedit” and hit enter).
    Point to : HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\OfficeServer\14.0\Search\Setup\ContentIndexCommon\LanguageResources\Default\English
Under the registry key for each of the languages there is a value called StemmerDLLPath and WBDLLPathOverride
Updated the registry entry with NATURA~1.dll to NATURA~2.dll
Point to Start -> Administrative Tools -> Services, right click on SharePoint Server Search 14 and click on Restart.
Performed a Full Crawl and wait for the Full Crawl to complete and try searching again.

    Hi,
Interop is not supported on a Server or with in a services.
But if you want to this, you have to set up the Environment. I follow this Guideline with my Word and I'm able to start Word on a Server.
    1) Goto Control panel -> Administrative Tools -> Component Services
    2) Expand Tree by clicking on Component Services -> Computers -> My Computer -> DCOM Config
    3) Search CLSId 00020906-0000-0000-C000-000000000046 (which is for Word 97-2003 application)
    4) By selecting 00020906-0000-0000-C000-000000000046 this CLSId now right click on Properties
    5) In the Propeties area, click on Security TAB
    6) Select Customize option from all (Launch and Activations Permissions, Access Pemissions, Configuration Permissions)
    7) Take the User of the Services and Allow all permissions for this user
    8) Go to Identity TAB in the same properties area, select option as a This user and then add username (the user must be administrator of this machine) and password. Click on Apply, Ok
     Locale Profile: True
    9) Refresh Component Services and check your application is working fine or not.
    10) set Folder, if not present:
       C:\Windows\SysWOW64\config\systemprofile\Desktop
