Robohelp8 Help Output Search not working

Using WebHelp and WebHelp Pro as single source layouts.
I open  the Help Guide. I enter a term in the upper right corner search box.  This causes the Search "Bar" to open along the left side. The search  term is filled in, but the search does not happen. I have to hit enter  again for the search to be performed.
This only happens on the  initial opening of the Help Guide. When I toggle to Contents or Index  and search from the upper right corner again, the Search bar opens and  the search is performed with no issue.
Issue happens in FF, IE,  Safari and Chrome on Mac and Win
Any idea what may be causing  this?

    I've run into the same thing and it was my java plug-in. It worked with the Sun VM but not the Microsoft VM. (I'm using I.E.)
    To get around it, I use the help on e-docs. For some reason the local version fails but the on on their site works. You might give it a try. It's the same help files.

    Hi all,
    For some reason, the search in my webhelp output is not working in 1 particular project. No matter what I search for the results are always zero, and I know these words/terms are in there....I've checked across all browsers and its not working anywhere.
    The AIR version of the project searches fine and all works, so its something specific with webhelp.
    I can't figure out why.Is there somewhere that I can check or something I can do, I haven't made any particular changes to the project recently, nothing that I believe should be affecting the search. I tried re-publishing with and without the substring search adn still nothing.
    Other projects I've just published and the search works on them fine.
    Few Notes:
    I do not have 508 compliance on.
    Generating DHTML, not Pure HTML.
    Have tried generating to different folders, no change.
    Fail with and without substring search enabled.
    Any ideas welcome.

    This could explain why things broke. It sounds like you need to understand the process better.
    Generating and Publishing are two distinctly different actions. Consider your project to be like baking cookies. When you generate, you are putting the cookies in the oven and out pops baked cookies.
    Publishing is the action of copying content from your local storage to the server. It's like moving the baked cookies to the display case where customers may grab them up.
    A server is a very busy place. The action of generating normally clears and removes content from the location where you generate. It's helpful if nothing else is going on at that time. Thus, we recommend you generate to your local hard drive. Normally to a folder inside the !SSL! folder. Then you configure a server destination where you publish. What you are doing is like removing all the baked cookies (or trying to) and then moving straight from the oven to the display case. Usually you place the cookies in an intermediate spot to cool.
    When you click the Publish button (after you have configured things) RoboHelp will dutifully copy files from your hard drive to the server. The first time through, it has to copy ALL the files. It also makes a list of which files were copied. Then on subsequent publish cycles, only the changed content is published. This means it publishes much quicker. I've seen it where the first publish took perhaps 20 minutes to complete. Five topics were changed and help was re-generated and the Publish cycle took perhaps 15 seconds.
    As you can hopefully see, you probably felt you were saving a step. In reality, you were probably causing yourself an issue.

    Right click your volume icon in the notification area and select "volume control options". From there, you should be able to select the external speakers.

  • Archive folder missing from Mail & search not working

    I've been having trouble getting the Archive mailbox to appear in Mail. What's worse, often the search function is broken, and Mail doesn't turn up any search results. I've found some ways to get the Archive folder to reappear, but these only seem to help temporarily. For instance, clicking on the gear at the bottom left and selecting "Get Account Info" then selecting the Archive folder causes it to reappear, but this is only temporary and it disappears after another restart or sometimes after an hour or two. The search not working is the worst, as it sometimes is working and sometimes isn't. I don't have any idea what's causing this, but I am at my wit's end because I NEED Mail to be firing on all cylinders.

    Hello, and welcome to the Discussions.
    What are your selections in Mail Preferences/Accounts/Advanced for this Gmail account, if using IMAP, regarding keeping message for Offline use? The Mail search can only access the list of messages to search Subject, From, etc, but not the entire message unless copies of all messages are being kept on the computer. This would be true for any IMAP account, btw.

  • RH 5.5 output does not work properly in RH 7

    I inherited a WebHelp project created in RH 5.5. I have RH 7.
    When I open the files, make modifications, and recompile them, the
    output does not work properly once I put it on our hardware box.
    Those infamous red squares are present and there seems to be a lot
    of .js files being called, but even when I do a straight 1:1 copy
    and include all the files, and delete the red squares, it still
    doesn't work right.
    Also, oddly, when I open the original (5.5) files in my v7 --
    even without making ANY changes at all -- the TOC has
    disappeared.

    When you view the upgraded source files in RH7, are the red
    squares seen the editor?
    When you generate to a local folder and view the output
    there, are the red squares present? Are there any other issues with
    the generated output?
    Have you applied all three patches to RH7? Help About should
    show 7.0.3.

    iPad audio output does not work, except for on Siri. The mute button is not on, and the volume buttons have no effect/ don't work (unless Siri is open). I have reset the iPad, tried iOS7 and iOS8 resets, which didn't help. The audio output mostly works when headphones are out in, but has a tendency to cut out from time to time. Without headphones, Audio might start working again briefly from time to time, but most the time it doesn't.  Any ideas on what is wrong with it and how to fix it?
    my iPad is a 3rd gen, 16GB wifi only model, if that helps
    I did take it to an Apple Store, but the inncorrectly insisted that my speaker was bust and it would cost £250 to replace the whole iPad!

    iOS 8 isn't even out yet. If you are running iOS 8, I assume you are a developer and if you are, you are in the wrong forum to try to get help. If you are not a developer and you're running iOS 8, maybe that's why you are having problems on the iPad.

    The type that I made bold doesn't make sense. Is this a typo and you mean that " headphones are not in"?

    And you know they are incorrect because you get sound here and there from time to time? That fact doesn't prove that something isn't working correctly inside. You could very well have a bad connection inside the device causing this, but somehow you seem to know that's not the case.

    Spotlight search not working on iPhone 5 updated to ios7. I can access the search bar, but nothing happens when I enter a search term.

    I'm having the same issue with an iPad 2 and iPhone 5. As mentioned by Nick if you reboot it seems to resolve the issue. Note that after a reboot it can take several seconds for spotlight search to return the first results. After this first slow response it seems to be quicker.
    If it helps I have a few hundred apps and about 24K songs so the search has a lot to go through!

    My Help viewer is not working for mac help. Everytime i choose mac help the window opens then closes. But when i open another help like safari help it opens and works fine. If i switch it back to mac help the window just closes and the application quits.

  • Help viewer does not work after update to 10.4.4

    Since updating to 10.4.4 my Help viewer does not work, and all of the troubleshooting fixes suggested in other threads have not had any success in resolving this. I've noted that when I go to Users>Library>Documentation>Help there is no mac.help file - can someone tell me if that means that I've lost the file altogether and need to reinstall it? I get to the first screen of the viewer, but the links from there don't work. Thanks for any help that you can provide!

    Thanks for your suggestion. I downloaded OnyX and ran the cleaning function. After restarting, I opened Help and once again the first screen appeared fine. But again most of the links did not work, though those under the "What's New" heading did work. I might add that I had previously tried a variety of suggestions posted in another thread, which included deleting from the caches folder in Home>Library several files such as com.apple.helpui and help.plist in the Preferences folder. (As noted in my previous post this evening, I also created another user but that also did not have any effect.) Any other ideas? Thanks

    Hi All ,
    I am working on BO XI R2 environment and help button is not working properly in my infoview.
    I can get help files from Admin console but the same is not true with infoview.I got two different server installations, one of them its working fine but not for the other.
    I checked for help files in IIS and they are there , even I verified web.config file as well for infoview and it also seems to be correct.
    Please advice what could be the reason.

    Hi,
      This kind of problem is known when webgui is being started from an IAC, e.g. HRWPC_FC_EXEC
    You have to set parameter ~webgui_popups 1 in the service file of this IAC.

  • Search not working on Task Description

    Hi,
    I am facing a strange scenario with search not working on Task Description for a particular task item. This task item has around 18 versions of itself within it.
    I tried replicating the same scenario in our Test environment with following changes in the task item description:
    1. Copied the task list over to Test environment.
    2. Deleted all the versions of this task and put a single line description as.
    3. Initiated full crawl and search results with task description were
    coming up fine.
    4. Made few more versions : 5 Versions and again initiated full craw. Search results are fine.
    5. Made few more versions this time and again a FULL crawl, but now NO results with this task description.
    So, my question here is that is there any limit by MS for multiline text limit or version limit which prevents the task description from coming up in search results. 
    This task description as multiple line text with links to other lists/libraries and user names who created the versions in this task item. We are not using FAST search.

    I found the answer elsewhere on the forum:
    Somehow the main drive was added to the privacy list in Spotlight. Search is working fine now that I've removed it.

  • Mail search not working + Spotlight keeps indexing

    I have an old problem that has resurfaced after creating a new user on my Mac. Mail search brings no results and Spotlight is constantly indexing - day in, day out. It never seems to get there. I tried turning my hard drive to private in Spotlight settings and then taking it out. Previously Spotlight seemed to get bogged down with external drives now it's stuck indexing my Mac.
    Any advice? Is there a way I get unstick this?

    I can't believe that Apple have STILL not sorted this out. I haven't created a new user (so it's nothing to do with that), but Mail.app won't find anything when searching "Entire Message" in the current Mailbox or in "All Mailboxes". This has been ongoing since Leopard was first released, and we are now up to 10.5.8 without this being fixed.
