RoboHelp8 HTML: Importing FM9-Dokument causes FM9 starting and closing all the time
Hello,
I use RoboHelp very seldom. Last time a year ago for a try to make context sensitve HTML-Help for our application. It was RoboHelp7 than and it worked.
Now I just used the freshly installed RoboHelp8 to import a FrameMaker9 document.
Clicking through the first two dialogs (without any inputs) and press finalize at the end strange things happens.
FrameMaker9 starts and closes immediately, and so on.
This would be forever I think if I didn't kill RoboHelp.
I rebooted already and so on. Still the same.
System: Windows XP SP3
Software: TCS 2
RoboHelp8: 8 00 203
FM9: 9.0p237
Do you have quick suggestion I could try?
Thanks
Norbert
Jeff,
Still RH8 is not working with this certain document.
Because it was the only one document I tried to import with RH8 so far (at all), I thought something is wrong with the installation or else ...
Still I need to import this FM document.
FM9 standalone is able to open it.
I'll try to convert it to MIF and import it again in RH8.
Thanks
Norbert

Why do the videos that I am trying to view (you tube etc) always start and stop. it is very annoying and I can't seem to fix it.... thanks for your pointers... as you can see, I am not a techie. the fact that numbers, letters and picture appear on my computer screen is
Make sure you are using the latest version of Adobe Flash Player.
A suggestion:
Go to YouTube, open any video and press pause (don't do this while video is playing).
Click the ctrl key or “right click” the mouse in the middle of the video window. The settings for flash player will pop up.
Select the video settings then select "enable hardware acceleration."
Press close.
Now RESTART YOUR COMPUTER not just Safari if that is your browser of choice.

My original iPad is slow and drops web pages and videos all the time now. Is the software just too old to handle the technology changes on the websites and video or is it a virus or junk in the iPad causing this? I have plenty or storage left on the iPad like 18GB. Sure would like to know. Maybe it is just too old to handle things now?
IIf you are running iOS 6.1.2, you could not be using the original iPad. No matter which iPad and what version, try these basic troubleshooting steeps and see if it helps with the performance.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History and Website Data. Then close all apps.
In order to close apps in iOS 5 or iOS 6, first tap the home button once. Then tap the home button twice and the recents tray will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button twice.
In order to close apps in iOS 7 or 8, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Now reset your iPad. Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
You can also try resetting all settings. You will not lose any data, but most of the device settings will have to be entered in the settings app again. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all Settings. -
Yosemite starts up twice all the time since update
Yosemite starts up twice all the time since update, haven't done the PRAM reset but was hoping I didn't have to do that, does anyone know why it does it?
Good news re it stopping
For Modesty0007,
If the problem doesn't occur on a new account it most likely means you have a process running on your other account that uses up a lot of CPU, making your computer temperature go up and the fan spin harder in turn.
Go back to your usual account and have a look in Activity Monitor to see if you have a process running that fits the description. -
My printer (deskjet 690c) has started printing gibberish all the time.
As soon as I switch it on it starts printing junk. The only way to stop it is switching it off. I have tried reloading software but to no evail. Any suggestions please.
This would generally be caused by a print job that was interrupted; when the printer is turned back on the job is out of sync and is not properly recognized by the printer. You will need to delete the print job from the queue.
What is the operating system? Running the diagnostics at http://www/hp.com/go/tools may help resolve the issue.

How can I make Safari start my homepage all the time?
I don't like that Safari starts the last page that I was on everytime I run the application. How can I change this so that my default homepage is opened everytime instead?
Go to your Safari menu bar click Safari > Prefrerences then select the General tab.
You can set your home page from there.
If you are running Lion v10.7, disable the Lion "resume" feature...
Open System Preferences > General
Deselect: Restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps
BTW... when you post for help, please tell us which Mac OS X you have installed. That really helps. -
Automatically connects to sync and will start playing music all the time even when not using sync
My iPhone 4S will automatically start playing music as soon as I start my vehicle with sync.you can't hear it but on the screen it shows its playing even when listening to the radio
Try resetting it if you can: hold the on/off and home buttons until you see the Apple logo (ignore the off slider that appears first), then release. If you can't, try to connect it to iTunes, go to the Summary tab of your sync settings and click Restore to restore it. If that doesn't work you'll have to force it into recovery mode to restore it as outlined here: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808.
You can check in iTune to see if you have a backup. They are listed in iTunes>Preferences>Devices. However, the backup may not bring your contacts back as contacts are only backed up as necessary to preserve the recent call and call favorites lists. -
After updated my phone started acting up,,
hung up, jammed, slow, and I have to hold home bottom and power bottom together to get it back.
Can anyone help me pls!
Thx..Hi Luaylool,
If you are having multiple issues after updating your iPhone, you may want to make sure you have a current backup, then try restoring the phone and testing it for those issues before returning your data. You may find the following article helpful:

Start-up Disc Corrupted all the time
Start-up Disc Corrupted all the time
MacBook Pro early 2008 running 10.6.4 and Windows 7.
My MBP, early 2008, 2.5 GHz, 4GB Memory, HARD Disc 250 GB Hitachi (HTS 542525K9SA00) needs disc repair and erase and reinstall ever 5 days or so. This problem started in 10.6.3 and is continuing in 10.6.4. Which was updated by combo 10.6.4 and backed up with time capsule/time machine.
Even though it will not start up on Mac 10.6.4 it will still boot up on Windows 7. It will also boot up with the Snow leopard disc and repair. However some times even after the repair it will not boot up and I have to reinstall 10.6 + about 5 times
I have completely erased and zeroed out and reinstalled twice but I still get the problem about 4 days later. This was necessary because even though the disc was repaired successfully it would still not boot up.
In reading about Resolving Disk Corruption at http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/repairprocess.html#Anchor-Using-47857
The article suggests that a 'Bad Sectors' can cause this problem and suggest a complete zeroed out rein install, which I have done, They also recommend the purchase of DiskWarrior or TechTool Pro. Both are around US$95 on line. Which one is the best to purchase?? They say that TechTool Pro can identify a 'Bad Sector'
The article also suggested Bad sectors can be an early indication of a hard drive that will eventually need to be replaced.
I have now order a new 320 GB Hitachi HB from USA and it will take about 14 days to arrive. I have also completely erased and reinstalled again, but this time I have not reinstalled window 7.
I have also reset the power and PRAM a number of times but it made no difference to the problem.
I have not shut down the MacBook and I am leaving it in sleep mode as the problem really only seems to come about when the MacBook has been shutdown for a day or two.
I am quite sick of reinstalling. Has anyone else had this problem and is it my HD or software issue???
I have also reset the power and PRAM a number of times but it made no difference to the problem.
Best Regards PeterbillGurus - Can you please advice on this. Basically have developed a form and couple of users want to access that but get error " page cannot be displayed" and I figured out the "Start OC4J instance" windows gets closed automatically after some hours.
so I wanted this OC4J instance to run 24*7 ( always) without closing by itself. Please advice how could I do that.
Thanks

Possible malware infection

XML document structures must start and end within the same entity
Hi there,
I'm working with a client/server application and using SaxParser for reading in xml. I get the SaxParserException: XML document structures must start and end within the same entity. I understand what that means, but it isn't applicable! The xml data being used is well-formed. I checked the well-formedness with Stylus Studio to make sure. Here's the data:
<?xml version='1.0' encoding='UTF-8'?>

</vcmessage>The parser generally stops around the </bgcolor> tag.
I'm using Eclypse as my IDE. I'm wondering if there's something wrong with it? Or maybe there's something wrong with the class I'm using for reading in the XML? Followng is the class.
Please advise,
Alan

My fan is on all the time - possible overheating; software cause?
I’ve got a 17” G4 powerbook running Panther (OS10.3.9). It has been doing great but lately I’m noticing that the fan is running all the time. The thing sits on one of those aluminum wedge-shaped platforms (for max. air flow) on my desk and the room isn’t very hot. I have a temp monitor running on it and it says 52 C, even though the machine isn’t doing anything computational. I’ve also gotten one warning from the SMART sensor on the internal drive about a possible future failure due to high heat. I do know that my disk space is running low (2 Gigs when I boot up, which slowly disappears as I work). Is there anything software-related that can be the cause of this or do I definitely need to send it to a repair shop? If the latter, then where do I send it? My AppleCare is surely expired now… Is an Apple store my best bet, or an independent repair place, or what?
Machine Model: PowerBook G4 17"
CPU Type: PowerPC G4 (1.1)
Number Of CPUs: 1
CPU Speed: 1.33 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
Memory: 1.5 GB

SODIMM1/J23REVERSED:

Type: DDR SDRAM
Speed: PC2700U-25330I have a very similar problem. My G4 has been running great since I picked it up in January. But, in the last couple days my fan has been running real loud and the machine in general has been hot. Today was watching some youtube and my machine started to freeze up all togeather (a problem I've never had before) as the fan started sound extra loud. As I tried to power down my machine the fan started to make a more grinding type of sound and cause my whole laptop to vibrate. I just really want to know the best coarse of action here. Should I take my mahine to my mac people and have them replace the fan? Is this a common problem? What is this a cronic problem that is a symtom of somthing more ominoius?

InDesign CS6 crashes all the time while importing an image
InDesign CS6 crashes all the time while importing an image. Does anybody knows what's going on? How can I solve this problem. Please help me cause I can't work. Thanks a lot!
AlgoritmoMX schrieb:
Thanks a lot for your quick response. I convert images to CMYK because it is best for me to see the final colors in screen when working in Photoshop. As you know, some colors (like green) have a lot of problems in rendering quite accurate when you work in RGB and then convert to CMYK (greens tend to look very vivid in RGB and then very pale and lack of contrast when converted to CMYK). In doing so, it's not reliable for me to work in RGB and then convert to CMYK in RIP or in PDF export. When working in Photoshop, you have a more precise control of color when images are in CMYK, although we all know that the respresentation of CMYK on screen is just that, a merely representation of what it sholud look a CMYK image on screen (because screen works with RGB as you know).
Also, my question and concern is that ID should let you paste images in CMYK and tiff format also (not only PSD) , so what's the point in having those features if they are not going to work at all?
This problem never happened to me in earlier versions of ID.
Thanks a lot again!
That is not true at all. You can turn on in Photoshop the CMYK proof preview which would look exactly the same as if you have converted the image to CMYK. A CMYK proof print from a RGB file with a profile has exactly the same output as if the file has been converted to CMYK under the same settings. Even if you have CMYK images, you see only a back converted RGB image on screen! This is a simulation and it is exactly the same simulation as if you would turn on the CMYK preview of a RGB image! You can see even the plates of a CMYK image.
A CMYK file has a size from 133% of the same file in RGB! So you have shuffle around in CMYK with more data than you would do with RGB images. InDesign is supposed to handle RGB images for print since version 2.0 and since CS (Version 3) it is working without problems. And it can do it better due to smaller file sizes than with CMYK! Try it and you will be astonished how much time and work you have wasted useless in converting images to CMYK.
Have a look to this discussion: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/753454
Other actions you might take is to resave the tiff image without any compression or with a different compression to force Photoshop to write the file completely new.
