Rogue deleted file in the favourites sidebar menu - can't be removed!

Hello,
First time poster here (although I've been working on Mac's for fifteen years), so if I'm just being stupid, please be gentle. I recently installed Lion on my iMac.
When I started up the computer after installing the oporating system, three random files had been added to the list of favourites (favorites) at the side of every finder window. I have been able to remove two of them, as these files did exist on my Mac. I just right clicked and chose "remove from sidebar". The problem is the third file. The title of the file has a brackets and says deleted, followed by a load of numbers "Deck Review (deleted 4c4d4589-118951d-3af00e0ee29).pptx". This file doesn't exist on my computer, so when I right click it, I don't get the option to "remove from sidebar". I can't drag the file out of the side bar and I can't drag it to the trash.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can remove the file. It's not a major problem, but because the name is long, the side bar always opens really wide. And when I try to open a file from a third party application (CS5 for example) I can't see the list of files/folders because the side bar is so wide.
Please help. I have attached two images to illustrate.
1. When I open a new window. See unremoveable file "Deck Review (deleted 4c4d4589-118951d-3af00e0ee29).pptx"
2. When I try to open a file from an application (in this case Adobe CS5) see automatic width of sidebar favourites, making viewing folders difficult.
Any hepl would be greatly received.
Thanks
Mark.

Try holding down the Command key and then dragging it off of the Sidebar.  This has worked for me and many others.  Some have suggested they need to hold down the Command and Option keys together and then drag it off the Sidebar.

You installed an app right? The menu options are a bit different for s60v3 and s60v5 or s60v2 devices, so the thing is go to the application manager, it is inside Menu>Settings (or tools). If I remember correctly, s60v3 devices have the menu>tools>phone>applications. However I could be mistaken (you could check your manual). Anyway, once you get to the application manager, look for the particular app you want to remove and select options>uninstall.

  • Delete file from the filesystem?

    Hello,
I have an easy question. But I don´t find the right oracle packages.
I want to delete a file from the filesystem. How can I do this?
    Thanks for your help!

    Paul,
If connecting to the Web server on East-Coast USA is not optimal for you, or if you aren't using Oracle 10g Release 2, try this URL instead:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/index.html
You need to look for the PL/SQL Packages and Types Reference document, the section detailing the UTL_FILE package.
    Good Luck,
    Avi.

Move items you don't need on it, such as the iTunes and iPhoto libraries, to another drive, verify they work in the new location, and then delete them from the internal drive. If you don't need something at all, drag it to the Trash and empty it.

  • How do I store and delete files on the iphone

how do I store and delete files on the iphone

Files/documents need to be stored/associated within an app on the iPad, unlike 'normal' computers there is no file system which allows you to save files with no means of being able to read/use them. So if you want to store a file on the iPad you first need an app on the iPad that supports that file type.
How you then get the file onto the iPad and into the app will depend on what the app is and what transfer method(s) it supports. e.g. some apps use the file sharing section at the bottom of the device's apps tab when connected to your computer's iTunes, some apps support the transfer of files via your wifi network, the iBooks app uses the Books section of your iTunes (and the device's Books tab) to sync content, and other transfer methods include email attachments, Dropbox etc. The file is then found by going into your chosen app and opening/using the file.

Is it possible to recover deleted files from the Microsoft Word app for iPhone? I am desperate.

From the Microsoft Word app they say "Access Word documents from OneDrive, Dropbox, iCloud, OneDrive for Business, or SharePoint" so it sounds like you can specify where they are saved. However, my guess would be that the default will be OneDrive.

If you have an iCloud backup of an iOS device that was made while the contacts were still on it, you may be able to restore them from the backup by following this user tip from Winston Churchill: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4841.

why mac always delete files on the ipod? and the third this!

It's not Mac, it is iTunes, especially the recent version.
Every week you can see about 10 posts on iPod missing songs after ejecting from iTunes.
Well maybe Apple is telling iPod users, to buy their latest innovation like iPad 2.

  • Is there a keyboard shortcut to delete files without the need to use the mouse? In OS X Mavericks.

Is there a keyboard shortcut to delete files without the need to use the mouse in OS X Mavericks?

    my question is precise
    Not exactly........
Cmd-Delete deletes a selected file without a mouse.
What you want, I think, is a way to select the file (presumably in Finder) without a mouse so that it can be deleted.
If you open a new Finder window - Cmd-N you can navigate with the up/down arrow keys as you navigate a file is selected , once selected it can be deleted with cmd-delete.
If while navigateing with the up/dpwn arrow keys you encounter a folder you can delete the folder with cmd-delete or open the folder with the right arrow and proceed to naviagte and delete.

Choose your Home folder and "Get Info" (command-i). Under "Ownership & Permissions" be sure you have "Read & Write" privileges. Under "Details", be sure you are the owner.
