Role assigenment and workset

Hi All,
I am looking into workset and role assignment functionalist of Portal. Inside Top level navigation panel, In first level I want to show My news and on second level I want to show BBC, CNN, Sky according to user and role assignment.
Currently I have created a workset called My News and added the three different iViews as delta link into this workset. All the iViews have different read permission i.e. BBC_role, cnn_role and sky_role and no end user access is allowed. Now if User logged in as bbc_role he do not see My News in first level navigation. If I assign workset My News into role bbc_role then again login as bbc_role, I see all the three links inside My News.
Can any one suggest how can I make it possible so that if I login as bbc_role I see My News and BBC inside this. If I login as user with role bbc_role and cnn_role assigned I see My News and bbc, cnn inside that. while if I login with user who have CNN_role and sky_role assigned I see My news and cnn, sky inside it.
Thanks
Vishal

  • Roles and Worksets are indicated several times in Top-level-navigation.

    Hallo Experts,
I dont understand why the Roles and Worksets in the Top-level-navigation are displayed several times. How can I change that?
    Thank you very much
    regards,
    Galyna

    Hi,
Which roles do you see several times?
If it is the home tab than you might have assigned yourself for example, eu_role, eu_core_role and cc_role.
If under the Home you see for example the Company, Work, Team... worksets twice than again you might have assigned yourself for example, eu_role, eu_core_role and cc_role.
If these are administrative roles than might have assigned yourself these roles through multiple groups/roles assignments.
If you will say exactly which roles/worksets you see several times we will be able to help more efficiently.

    Thanks in advance

    Hi Maxicosi,
You can achive with Sort Priority of the Role/Workset object properties.
Refer to [Defining the Sort Sequence of Navigation Nodes  |http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/92/3e703e632c7937e10000000a114084/content.htm]

  • Regarding roles and worksets ??

    hi
    is it possible ??
i  have made 2 roles nd 6 worksets ..in 1 role made the entry point no and made the entry point yes for there worksets....these are shown in tabs ...
now i want to use the same worksets for a new role  but want to make the role entry point 'yes'..
and doest not want to show the worksets shown in tab  for 2 nd role ..want that 2nd role will be shown in tabs

    Hi Arpit,
If I understand you correctly you have a role with worksets inside the role which are entry points (meaning you see them in the 1st level in the TLN).
Now you have a 2nd role which you want to see in the 1st level TLN, and want the
2nd level TLN for this role to have the same worksets you used in the other (1st) role.
In order to do that, just create delta links for the worksets, and add them to the 1st and to 2nd role.
These will actually be the same worksets. when you make changes to the original worksets, you'll see the changes in both roles.
    Regards,
    Tal.

  • Disaply the all the roles for page, iview and workset

    Hi Guys,
I have a strange requirement. i need to display all the users that have access to a particular iview, page and workset. can anyone help me out with this.
    -Thanks

    Hi,
Any iview or page or workset should be part of role. SO if user has access to a particular role, he will have access to the portal objects inside that role as well. So the way to go is you can get all the roles, check iViews, pages etc. If iViews or pages match, then save the role to arraylist. Now check the users who are assigned to these roles in arraylist. That may work.

how can i implement in portal...
I am New From  Portal consultant so kindly please help me its very much helpful.
    Regards,

inbox you meant UWL ie universal worklist
first note that SAP provides standard roles and you can copy it to z role and modify it accordingly and remove the roles
    as per required/
For ESS, the standard composite role is SAP_EMPLOYEE_ERP. You can make a Z copy of this role and customize it per your needs.

There is no standard role provided for MSS applications. You will need to build one as per your needs.
See SAP Note 844639 for more details.

  • Role , Menu and Display Priority

    I have a Role A with a menu sequence, Sort Priority 100
and a Role B with another menu sequence Priority 50
User is having role A and B
But B is displayed in the navigation before A.
How can I influence the display sequence?

    Hello Holger,
I had done this job successful.
In my opinion, workset was used for first level menu
usually, not role ,role is only a concept.
We need to sort the workset which will be display in first level menu in fact.
And "Sort Priority" of workset can take effect,
    I had validated that.
And the similar situation occured in second level menu.

  • Retreive Current active/selected Role & active/selected Workset - WebDynpro

    Hello All,
I'm working on 2004s and trying to make a webdynpro application, which would retrieve following data of existing Portal users:
1> Current Role (User selected Role)
2> Current Worket that is attached/assigned to the current role (referring to point 2 above).
Note: Users have multiple roles & Roles have multiple worksets.
    Thanks,
    Satya.

    Hi Satya,
To get list of roles use String[] IRoleFactory.getRolesOfUser(String uniqueIdOfUser, boolean recursive) (https://media.sdn.sap.com/javadocs/NW04/SPS15/um/com/sap/security/api/IRoleFactory.html). To get worksets assigned to roles you can try to use approach described here /people/prakash.singh4/blog/2005/07/28/browse-roles-folders-pages-iviews-assigned-to-a-user-ep6-sp9-and-higher

  • Explanation of Process Default Roles: Administrator and Owner

    HI experts,
I am having some trouble understanding the reason of the existence of the process default roles:
    Administrator and Owner.
In the CAF-GP Security guide, it says that the Standard Process Role Administrator can "Maintain process instances using the GP administration tools"; what this means ?
My user has de GP Administration role and it DOESN`T have  the Standard Process Role Administrator from ANY process, and I can maintain ALL the process instances from the Administration workset, I don´t need to have the Standard Process Role Administrator assigned to me.
The same happens with the Standard Process Role Owner ; the Security Guide says the person who is assigned that role can "Maintain process instances"; my question is:  If i assign the "Owner" role to a user that doesn´t have the GP Administrator role and this user wants to "Maintain Process instances" where he has to go? because he won´t have the administration workset !.
    Best regards,
    Marco.

    Hi Marco,
    First, check this link: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/d9/273a4209a6ae04e10000000a1550b0/content.htm
That will explain better the role of each role.
Itu2019s important to you understand that each process may have a responsible person (admin or overseer) that will monitor the progress of the process.
And you will have a u201CBASISu201D person that will have the GP Administrator role. This role allow to maintain process (with other kind of operations like terminate, complete step, etc.), maintain background queues, archiving, transport of objects, configurations, schedule and other admin tasks for all GP infrastructure.
    Regards,
    Reward points if itu2019s helpful.

    Hi Experts,
Can anyone tell me the difference between  service map iView and Workset Map iView.
When I am creating these iViews, its seams both are same. I canu2019t find difference still, can anyone help me out of this
    Thanks in Advance
    Janardhan

    Hi,
Service Map Iview:The Service Map iView is an ERP-specific variant of the portal Workset Map iView. It serves as a central point of entry and guided access to the services of SAP service modules such as the Manager Self Service (MSS) module, or the Employee Self Service (ESS) module.
Workset Map iview:A Workset Map is the equivalent of a site map, providing users with explicit information on the functionality that is available in a given workset. It is based on an iView, and serves as a central point of entry and guided access to the contents of a workset.
if you want to more info pls go thr the below thread
