Hi,
Its actually a collective responsibility to prepare the blue print after having clearly understood the business process of the client and take green signal on the AS IS process.
After this as per the client requriements the required configurations are formulated representing the clients business process finalised as per the AS IS. At the same the gaps are identified and the required developements are also identified and preparation of functional specs start.
From the SD point of the requirements are put on paper in configs, and cross module dependencies are discussed. Like if SD integrates with FI, there would be discussion on the required G/L accounts, customer master data population, acckeys etc. If in case MM, we discuss with them on scenarios like third party, STO's, availability check.
Finally we arrive at the end configurations, developments required and call it the TO BE process which is deliverable of blue print. This goes on to the next phase called realization. However there could be many activities I tried to highlight few.

Hi experts
i cannot use transaction BBPMAININT for an issue in srm 5.0
"Error reading roles (not maintained/no authorization?)
The user has stalstrategic*purchaser role but i think that it is not enough!

Hi,
Most of the upgrades are techinical, I would say 80%-20% (Tech. to Functional).
One of the most imp. role would be doing integration & regression testing and also documentation of all the changed process, screens, etc.
Also,
Preparing the new BBP would be one of the tasks.
Checking the SAP notes, etc.
Helping the developers by running the upgrade tool & using SPDD & SPAU t-codes (optional).

Hi Friends,
During the implementation diff. modules are tobe implemented. Each module has 1 consultant i.e., FI, MM, SD, CO consultants. here my question is.....
Each consultant will be prepare AS-IS & TO-BE documents for their respective modules i.e.,
- FI Consultant - 1 AS-IS & TO-BE
- CO               - 1 do
- MM              - 1 do
- SD               - 1 do
these 4 bbp's are mixed and finalized and finally 1 bbp gets ready for further phases. is it correct, pl suggest me?
What is the role of each consultant in AS-IS & TO-BE(BBP) in the above example?

Dear Anita,
Yes u r right that Each consultant will be prepare AS-IS & TO-BE documents for their respective modules but these BBP's are not mixed up.
The rules of each consultant in phase 2 i e Business Blue Prints is to created bbp's or say Document which is going to configure in the SAP system along with core users.
AS - IS means what futures client's are using in the Legacy System
TO- BE mean what futures we are giving to client according to thier Legacy System

Testing(system Integration testing/user acceptance testing)-test execution, Integration issues , bug fixing

The As- Is analysis is actually done based on what the client wants at thier place and what SAP can offer.
It is mainly done to map requiremnts and find out whioch requiremnst can be done OOTB(SAP standard), configuration , customization and enhancements. It is also donw to know the effort time estimation for the enhancements objects.
The functional conusltant can do the following depending on the entry to the project and his/her exp:-
Business process requirement document
Functional specification.
Requiremnt mapping,
Requiremnt gathering
Effort estimation,.
Prtotyping for requirements.
Testing (major roles)
The major document to be used are Business process requirement documentation/ High level design dosumentation(HLD)
for the initial two phases.
For middle scale projects , the time would be min 1.5 yrs starting from project iniation to go live .It can be fast tracked if the client desires so.But these are actually dependant based on teh number of requirements that will be taken for that phase and thier criticality.

1.In Real time...the connectivity type of things you will have to bring to the notice of SAP - BASIS and SAP - Security people...and they will resolve the things..
2.Typical things we can follown in any implementation projects are....
Start with Reports. What the client is using. What he is expecting. If he got existing reports map the fields with Business Content BW Fields.
Go to Business content and make a list of queries which are delivered from SAP. Explain them the KPI's. This should be good to start with.
Also check the Tcodes they use.
Look for DataSources that get data from theses Tcode's.
Project Preparation (Initial stuff -- Do a conceptual review after this phase requirements gathering) Collect requirement thru interviews with Business teams /Core
users / Information Leaders.
Study & analyze KPI's (key figures) of Business process. Identify the measurement criteria's (Characteristics).
Understand the Drill down requirements if any. Understand the Business process data flow if any. Identify the needs for data staging layers in BW (i. e need for ODS if
any) Understand the system landscape.
Prepare Final Requirements Documents in the form of Functional Specifications containing: Report Owners, Data flow, KPI's, measurement criteria's, Report format along
with drilldown requirements.
Business Blue print (Functional spec-- Do a design review after this phase) Check Business content against the requirements Check for appropriate Info Objects - Key
figures & Characters Check for Info cubes / ODS Check for data sources & identify fields in source system Identify Master data document all the information in a file

How many cost centres are you putting in the role? Do you have cost centre set as an org level?
From your User Name I assume that you are at the BBC...Do you still use a program to populate the cost centres in the role based on the cost centre group names? If so it is possible that you are trying to put too many cost centres in the field and the the profile will not generate because of this (we had it back in 2001 when I was working there).
Do you have the technical error message details?

How to get security roles in a JSF portlet

I need to get the LDAP user-roles available in the Sun Portal Server 7 in my JSF-168 portlet.
I've added the mapping file, updated the portlet.xml and web.xml, deployed the portlet (psconsole). But the portlet shows the "content not available" error with javax....title title.

Error while scheduling Background Job for User/Role Full Synchronization

Hi all,
We have installed RAR 5.3 Component and uploaded the authorization data & established the connectors to the backend system.
We have performed all the post installation activities and everything is complete.
When we have scheduled User -Full Synchronization with the Back End system as a part of Post Installation Activity we are receiving the below error message
"Error while executing the Job:Cannot assign an empty string to host variable 2."
Also the VIEW LOG/ Terminate Job buttons are disabled in this screen.
Can somebody please help us in resolving the above issue

Error while assigning portal custom role

Hi All,
We have a custom role which we use to assign to the users. till now we are able to assign it without any problem. But now as i need to assign it to someone, i got an error stating that "An error occured while adding user assignments; to see the correct status, perform a new assigned user search".
Can anybody help us in finding out the reason of the error and in rectifying the error.

This role is existing in the PCD, and this error is coming, while assinging this role any users... it is working fine with the existing users, who are having this role before. This is happening only when we are assigning this role to some new user.
I dont think this has some relation with the backend, as the role assignment is part of the Portal itself.
And also here we dont have seperate UME, and we are using r3 users only with single sign on.....

Error while Assigning database level role (db_datareader) to SQL login (Domain Account)

Team,
I got an error while creating a User for Domain Account. Below is the screen shot of the error (error : 15401)
Database instance is on SQL 2000 SP3. ( I know it is out of support, But the customer is relutanct to upgrade)
On Google search, i found below article which is best matching for this error

I have follows each step of troubleshooting. But still the issue persists.
Step 1. The login does not exist == The login is very much exist in the domain as i am able to add the same domain id to other database instances
Step 2. Duplicate security identifiers == i have used this query to find duplicate SID
/* SELECT name FROM syslogins WHERE sid = SUSER_SID ('YourDomain\YourLogin') */
But there was only one row returned with create date of today's.

Step 3. Authentication failure == Domain is available. User is able to login on other servers via RDP connection.
Step 4. Case sensitivity == Database collation is set to Case insensitivity. (CI)
Other two 5. Local Accounts & 6. Name resolution == is not applicable to me.
I tried other ways also.
A. Creating login and providing permission in one go only = User account is not created
B. Instead of GUI, use query to create login and provide required permission = Same error.
Does anybody has faced any such situation
