Role Migration EP60 NW04

Hello,
its mybe an easy question, but i dont find an answer in the manual :-(.
i would upload some SAP BW roles to the Enterprise Portal.
In EP 5.0 i know there was a tool named "Role Migration".
So i search this forum where this is located now.
All Postings say that there mus be an entry under "System Administration - Transport"
But in my Portal there isnt only:
Export
Import
Upload von Content und Aktionen
Unification-Synchronisation
Does anybody know where i can find the "Role Upload"?
Best Regards,
Patrick

hi John,
it is very strange :-/.
I take a look in an other NW04 SP9 Portal and it has your entrys. My Portal didnt have this. I have the Super Administrator role assigned.
Never seen this before that an menu entry are lost.

  • Role migrate issue

    When I migrate some Roles from portal nw04 to nw04s, the roles have issue.
    The issue is when I assign these role into some user, the role doesn't work.
    My solution is I go to Content Administrator>xxx role>Change ID then the role is working for user.
    I don't know why I need to do this process when I migrate role.
    Anybody know why?

    It's possible I'm not being very clear as I think you have misunderstood it.  The Hyper-V hosts are fine and their access to the iSCSI CSV is functional.  The problem is the VMs throw up this error when I add a Shared VHDx that is stored on the
    Hyper-V Hosts CSV.
    Hyper-V Host cluster 'HVCLLAB1' with an iSCSI CSV e.g. C:\ClusterStorage\Volume1.  This is all fine.
    Two virtual file servers in a cluster 'FSCL1'
    The quorum and storage disks for the virtual file server cluster are Shared VHDx that are stored in the 'HVCLLAB1' CSV.  They are added to the virtual file servers through Failover Cluster Manager running on one of the Hyper-V Hosts.
    I hope that makes sense.
    I think I got it.
    You are nesting the VHDX files _within_ the cluster guests?
    If that is the case then the cluster would not be online until after the guests finish their own boot and initialization processes.
    Chicken and the egg.
    Essential cluster resources like the witness disk should be direct attached to an iSCSI LUN not nested within the guest workloads.
    Guest clusters are possible but the focus would be on the workloads they would be running internal to themselves.
    I hope I have things correct this time around. Essentially, putting your cluster witness disk within the guest workloads is not a good practice.

  • OBIEE 11g - Application role migration from DEV to UAT or to PROD

    Hello All,
    there are blogs which mentioned about application role migration from dev to UAT or Prod..
    Kindly provide the correct path of below two files which we use for application Role migration
    1. system-jazn-data.xml
    2. jps-config.xml
    I have searched these files but noticed there are 3 or 4 files with same name under different paths.
    Kindly help. TIA
    Regards

    if you mess up these files, your system will get corrupted.
    You need to take proper back up and then get it done.
    another way where you can avoid this risk is to manually enter the roles. Creating roles is one time effort unless you keep deleting and creating new roles. If you manually do it you will have more control on migration and you can fix if there an issue easily. Note, the migration of roles does not map the groups to roles . You still have to manually map them.

  • Role migration tool for EP6

    I beleive that there is a tool for migrating roles from Workplace 2.11 to EP5, does anybody know if there is the same tool available in EP6?
    I cannot find any documentation on this.

    Hi,
    yes there is indeed a tool in EP 6.0 for role migration from WP 2.11 or other SAP systems to EP6. You can find it in the portal under System Administration -> Transport -> Role Upload.
    The documentation can be found under:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/41/5e4d40ecf00272e10000000a155106/frameset.htm
    The tool is also available for SP2 Patch4+, the documentation is the same.
    Please contact me, if you need further assistance.

  • Upgrade + migration from nw04 on windows 2000 to nw04s on windows 2008

    Dear all,
    I need to upgrade and migrate my nw04 java system from windows 2000 to nw04s on windows 2008.
    From the PAM I can see that NW04 is not supported on windows 2008 and that nw04s (7.0) is not supported on windows 2000.
    So, which is the correct upgrade path? Do I need an intermediate win 2003 server which is supported from both the releases?
    Thanks and regards in advance
    Federico

    Hello my friend
    This will be a very interesting project for sure. As you know, kernel 640 is not supported on win2008 and 700 is not supported on win2000, so here there must be a win2003 as a transition platform for this upgrade+ migration, not to mention migration from 32bit to x64 is also involved. You didn't mention the DB versions in source and target systems, as well as the SAP product you're trying to go with. Here's a brief checklist right now for what I can think of, once you're back with more details then let's make it intact:
    I assume your source OS/DB is win2000SQL2000 32bit, target one is win2008SQL2008 x64.
    1. Install a win2003 x64 server and SQL2000 32bit;
    2. Install a new SAP instance same as your source system release in 32bit compatible mode;
    note: if the system being migrated is BW, then be aware of that you might want to bring new features in SQL2008 of row compression and table partitions.
    3. Detach the source DB from old SQL2000, and attach it to new SQL2000; some post configuration for DB copy will be required (STM tool). Now you've finish a migration from win2000 to win2003 32bit;
    4. Start upgrading NW04 to 7.0, 640 to 700, find details in upgrade guide; Now you have your 700 instance on win2003 x64+SQL2000 32bit;
    note: since release 701(700 EHP1) is available now, which you might want to upgrade instead of 700.
    5. Change the collation 850BIN2 for SQL2000 32bit, detach DB;
    6. Since migration from 32bit to x64 cannot be done smoothly, now you have to uninstall everything and reinstall win2003 and SQL2008 x64, followed by a new 700 or 701 instance;
    7. Attach the source DB, post configuration for DB copy will be required (STM tool); Now you have your 700 or 701 instance on win2003 x64+SQL2008 x64;
    8. Detach the SQL2008 DB;
    9. Now go to your target win2008 OS, install SQL 2008 x64 and new 700 or 701 instance;
    note: there might be some restrictions for NW 7.0 on win2008, go with the latest release (SR3 or newer).
    10. Attach DB to this final OS/DB version: win2008 x64+SQL2008 x64, post configuration for DB copy will be required (STM tool).

  • Winodws 2000 to Windows 2003 Migration EP60 SP2 - NW04 SP14

    Anyone doing a windows upgrade during the migration. SAP does not officailly support it (as of yet). If there is anyone who can share experiences please do!

    Stephen -
    I believe that SAP does allow migration from W2K to W2K3.  Please refer to the migration information at https://websmp102.sap-ag.de/~form/sapnet?_SHORTKEY=01100035870000579959&

  • Role Migration Error in EP6SP2_P4_HF7

    We are looking to migrate Roles from R/3 (4.7) to Portals.  When we try the Role Upload utility we get the following Java error. I greatly appreciate any help.

    Hi,
    Please refer to the installation manual where it is explained how to add the com.sap.mdi reference.
    In general you should do the following:
    1. With a text editor, open the file:
    \usr\sap\<SAP_J2EE_instance_name>\j2ee\<instance_number>\cluster\state\services\file\work\managers\reference.txt
    2. Look for the line:
       reference service:eisconnector library:jco
    3. After the line mentioned in previous step, add the following in a new line:
       <b>reference service:eisconnector library:com.sap.mdi</b>
    4. Save your changes and close the file.
    5. Restart the SAP J2EE Engine.
    Please be careful and have a look at the installation manual before changing it.
    If you still have problems, please also specify the exact Portal version and J2EE version.

  • EP6 Migration to NW04 - J2EE requirements

    Hi Guru's
    We are in the process of migrating our Portal from EP6 sp2 to NW04 and the tool we are using to migrate is "EP60MIGTOOL_8".
    It seems as if this tool requires J2EE version 6.40 on the source system.
    Is this correct and do we have to upgrade our J2ee engine to 6.40 on the source system ??
    Regards,
    Morgan Moodley

    Hi Morgan,
    when you migrate from EP6 SP2 to NW04, you need two systems.
    The source system, with EP6 SP2, at least PL30
    The target system, with EP6 NW04, at least SP16 (maybe 17 now).
    You execute the migration tools on the EP6 NW04 system, that copy KM/PCD data via the network .

  • User role migration

    With respect to the migration of roles and user authorization from the r/3 and portal , lets consider a scenario where there is a role Z which has 1 transaction and we have already uploaded the role to portal. I can actually run that transaction in portal. if the role undergoes certain changes by having another transaction is there an automatic way to upload that extra transaction in that role to the portal ?

    Hi Rahul,
    I guess you have to reupload the role for accessing new transaction.

  • Migration from NW04 to NW04s

    Hi,
    I have two servers.
    One is the DTR/SLD/CMS/CBS working on NW2004.
    The other is the DTR/SLD/CMS/CBS working on NW2004s ie NW 7.0 SP11
    I have trackd on both the DTRs
    I need to transport the SC & DCs created on the track on NW2004, to the new track on NW2004s(NW7.0).
    Is there any SAP document or blog about this transportation??
    I read on help.sap about importing the project into the NWDS04s & then copy pasting the src files to the DCs of the new track. But i want to avoid this.
    Is there any other systematic way of going ahead with this??

  • Migrate EP 5 SP6 to NW04s

    We want to upgrade to the last version of SAP Portal, but in all the
    documents we´ve read the upgrade is referred to EP 6 SP14 o higher
    (NW04) but it´s not named the version NW04s.
    Is it possible to upgrade from EP 5 SP6 to NW04s???. The tool to do the
    upgrade, is it available for NW04s???
    And other question, whitch is the version of portal in NW04s?.
    Thanks and regards.
    Raúl Martinez.

    Hi,
    You need to do a migration to NW04 then an upgrade to NW04S.
    I am doing this right now from an EP6 SP2 portal.
    I think the best way is to migrate to NW04 SP16 first, then upgrade to NW04S SP07.
    For this you need two computers. One with the source portal (EP5 or EP6) and another with a NW04 SP16 clean, on same version database. You migrate the KM part, then the PCD part.
    You can find all docs for migration at :
    https://service.sap.com/nw-epmig
    Then choose the EP5 scenario.
    You can find the migration tools at :
    https://service.sap.com/swdc , support packages and patches, sap netweaver (x2), sap netweaver 04, entry by component, ep migration, EP 5.0 MIGRATION TO NW04
    Then you upgrade the NW04 SP16 system to NW04S SP07.
    You can find documentation at :
    https://service.sap.com/instguides , Sap Netweaver, Release 2004S, upgrade.
    Take a look to the upgrade master guide and upgrade documentation.
    Good luck.

  • Export/import content from EP6 into NW04

    We are upgrading from SRM3.0/EP6 SP2 (source) to SRM5.0/Portal NW2004s (target).
    The only thing we need to preserve from the source portal are the users and roles. We plan to re-apply the business package for SRM 5.0 after the migration is completed. We are not using any Collaboration Rooms.
    I know there is a migration path from EP6 SP2->EP6 SP9(NW04), followed by an upgrade from NW04->NW04s.
    My question is:
    - is it possible to export content from EP6SP2 and import it into NW04/MW04s?  this will eliminate the complicated migration path from EP6 SP2 to NW04.

    Hi,
    As long as you only need to transport PCD content, I would recommend using normal PCD transport (just did an upgrade from EP6 SP2 to NW04 SP13 and used normal PCD transport without any problems. Will do the same for another upgrade to NW04s). Only if you have KM content you are forced to use the migration tools.
    I am not quite sure about users and role migration since I've only use LDAP as a user store (we manually repeated the AD group to portal role mapping since there were very few)
    There was a conf call on this, but the only reference I can find now is https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/supplemental_docs/prtl204.pdf

  • 9.3.1 Migration Utility gives "Project does not exists" error in log

    In preparation for using Hyperion Reporting and Analysis 9.3.1, I have installed the following on a Linux test server:
    --Oracle App Server 10.1.3
    --Oracle Database 10g XE
    --Hyperion shared services 9.3.1
    --Hyperion UI Services 9.3.1

    We've only one user-defined role in the source system that I don't think is giving us this issue, it is inactivated and "User Roles" was not one of the selected objects to migrate.
    I would like to try taking the role completely out of the source system if possible, preferably through SQL applied to the V8 tables or through the SDK.
    The error looks like it lies in the migration task following the user role provisioning, doAssignDefaultGroup* and is caused by getProjectNameByID*
    The steps I have taken (for sanity sake) so far are:
    --I've removed all associations with this user defined role in the source system (users, groups, and roles) using the administrative interface on the web.
    --I've unchecked 'User Defined Roles' on the list objects to migrate from the source to target systems in the Migration Utility, but I still get the error.
    It looks like it is trying to provision a user defined role in the target system, but it is not finding a default project by the id in the error message.
    Are there any Shared Services steps in the target system that need to be taken besides creating a manager type user to use as a log in for the Migration Tool?

    I turned on the jsp debug init-param for the system for more information about the error. I get the following:
