while creating a business system, the business system role can be given as an application system or integration server
what is the signifance of using it as an integration server and as application system

However it's not clear from documnetation
they mentioned that we can use INTEGRATION server in both the cases weather it's application sys. or other sys.
But i think while craeating it for R/3 sys. i.e. Wwe AS ABAP we use it as Integration server else as application system.

Hi Praveen,
For configuration of integration server please go to SXMB_ADM>In configuration choose Integration engine configuration->And add one runtime parameter IS_URL...and specify the role of business system as Integration server and specify the corresponding Integration server i.e dest://httpdestination. This destination is RFC destination that should be created in PI sytem of type 'H 'which contains the target host as host name of PI system and path prefix as '/sap/xi/engine?type=entry'.

No role for business system defined in SXMS_CONF_ITEMS

Hi Experts.
I have the following problem. We were set up the XI in our company and now we are trying to configure and run it propertly. We had some problems so far and now there is the next one: I configured the simple scenario FILE-XI-FILE but it doesn't work :(. Every step from the scenario was completed successfully (after some problems) but when I have started runtime Workbench (RWB) in order to monitor the functionality of XI and I choosed Component Monitoring | Components | Integration Server | Integration Engine GPI I see that I have an error in Self-Test Status | Are roles in SXML_CONF_ITEMS and SLD consistent? In detail it's No role for business system defined in SXMS_CONF_ITEMS. My business and technical systems look to be well configured but now I'm hopeless because I can't find nothing more specific about SXMS_CONF_ITEMS table. I tried some notes and threads from the forum but nothing helped me after all. So please help if someone has an experience with something similar. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Check in transaction SXMB_ADM -> integration engine configuration a parameter (Corresponding Integ. Server) if all parameters are correct n not lost.

Role of business system in SLD

I am doing PI post configuration with Central SLD on solution manager.What should be the Role of the business system for solution manager?In sxmb_adm should I give this as application system? And what should be the corresponding integration server?

Hi,
it should be application and should be connected to PI as any other R3 application system. If you connect it ti PI, then enter the PI destination as explained in the PI configuration guide, section connection to other business systems.
If you are not using PI, then it is not relevant - you should leave both fields empty

Error while reading ID of own business system from the SLD

HI guys when trying to send Idoc from my R/3 system to SUS i am getting the following error in XI

I checked in sxmb_adm on both the ends on Xi as well as on my SUS server in Xi the role is the Integration server and on the SUS it is Application server also checked SLDAPICUST which is configured rite. Plz help me to come out of the problem.

Hi Anand,
check the two thing's in XI.
1. First created technical system in XI to identify your XI server (Web as ABAP and Web AS Java)
2. Create the business system based on above technical system and select the role of business system is Integration server.
URL : http://<hostname>:<ICM Port>/sap/xi/engine?type=entry.
3. Create the technical system based on your SAP R/3 system.
4. Create the business system based on your SAP R/3 system.
here you need to select role of business system : Application system.
related integration server is : <XI System SID has to come>
and try to refresh the initical cache once ...

How to change the ROLE: Integration server in business system in SLD

Hi,
I am facing error in communication, becuase the integration server has been attached to in correct business system with incorrect client (001 instead of 700).
In SLD, business system, 'integration' tab there is button "Associate with XI'.
I have selected the role as integration server for the corrrect business system and aslo gave the correct pipeline url for integration server.
When I press the button "Associate with XI" and Save nothing happened.
How do i change my integration server.
Please help.

I have checked the teachnical system and its of type WEB AS ABAP. and when i click on the business systems tab, there are two business systems. When i double click on the business systems
I realised that both the business systems has been defined with role: integration server.
IN one business system i can see that there is "associate with XI" button.
But when i want to chnage the business system with correct client 700 , i tried pressing the button after entering the correct pileline url.... nothing happens.....
Can you please let me know the procedure to chnage the technical system with respect to integration engine???
PLease help as our project is held up due to this.

How to create Business System in SLD with Role "Integration Server"

We were trying to create a Business system of role "Integration Server" in SLD. However, we are getting an error saying "There is already an Integration Server defined foer the selected Technical System. Select as Application System."
We could not find any relevant BS with the role "Integration Server" for that Technical System.
Please advice.

I have same situation on a fresh installation.
Also error "There is already an integration server defined for the selected technical system; select the Application System role".
But, there is no Business system at all visible and also the Business system tab of the technical system is completely empty.
What to do?

we are unable to create a BS with role of integration server, its throwing error with internal server 500.

Hi Kesava,
what is the purpose of creating a business system of type IS? This is automatically done in the post installation by CTC templates. So if the post installation is successfully executed, this should already be there. And if not you should check if the post installation was properly executed and if there where problems analyse why they occured.
The creation of the BS is just one part of the game, so I would highly recommend to execute the hole post configuration via template or follow the help.sap.com and execute it step by step manually in the described order. Otherwise i guess this will not work.

Logical System Name Not appearing in the Business System

Hi,
Initially we had created a Technical system with Client 700 without a "Logical System Name" in SLD. hence the 'logical system name' in 'business system' was also Blank.
Now, since we are implementing the IDOC to file scenario; we need to maintain the "Logical System Name" in the client and which in turn should reflect in our Business System in SLD.
Though we maintained the Logical System Name in the Technical System --> Client --> Logical System Name; we are unable to see the same(Logical System Name) in Business System ('Integration' tab)
Please also note that Business System is of the ROLE: Integration server.
When we go to business system in SLD ---Integrtaion tab ---Logical System Name -- is still blank.
Can anyone please help us to update the 'Logical system name' in Business System in SLD?

I followed your link till
Bussiness System -> select your bussiness System -> in Below pane u will find Details of your bussiness system ->amongs the various tabs available select Integration Tab->U will See option for technical system beside that u will see option for change ->click this ->u will be taken to Logical system ->there u define u r logical syatem name and then save the entries.
When I clicked the option chnage ---> "Change Associated Technical System" appeared, It didn't take me to Logical system.
But in turn I clicked hyperlink corresponding to Technical systems, it took me to technical system --> clients tab --I have entered the Logical system name.
When I go back to Business system again its not showing the Logical system name in Integration tab.

Authorization error when exporting business system

I am on XI 7.0 spo9.I am trying to transport from dev to qa .
I am able to easily export (login using xisuper ) Technical system.
However while exporting Business system .when it gives me to download a file I get an authorization error .

Check XISUPER has the below roles in SU01.
SAP_BC_AI_LANDSCAPE_DB_RFC
SAP_SLD_ADMINISTRATOR
SAP_SLD_CONFIGURATOR
SAP_SLD_DEVELOPER
SAP_SLD_ORGANIZER
SAP_SLD_GUEST
add the above roles for XISUPER and get the green color those roles using Tcode : PFCG.
The above roles should be in green color.

Error When Assigning a Business System in ID

I'm using PI 7.1. and when I'm trying to assign Business System from our SLD (menu path Business System --> Assign Business System). it throws me the following error:
Access to object list of type "BusinessSystem" using the InternalEOAService BusinessSystemAccessor failed
What are the steps to debug this?

The problem is solved using below solution:
We should have USERS: PIDIRUSER & PIREPUSER
with Roles:
SAP_XI_ID_SERV_USER
SAP_XI_MONITOR_J2EE
And User Type must be service.
Also check the users are not locked.
And passwords for PIDIRUSER & PIREPUSER users should have same password in Local SLD & in Central SLD. (if you are maintaning more than one SLD)..

Business service is not working in sender side but business system is working soap to idoc but why like that

i have scenario SOAP to IDOC
when i'm using business service in sender side it is getting an error as follows
sender message can not convert to ALE Logical system
in this i'm using altova spy as testing tool
my sender interface is asynchronous
but when i'm using business system everything is working fine
In sender side i'm using soap adapter,i checked the logical system everything is fine
mainly the problem is why it is working when i'm using business system rather than business service
my pi version is pi 7.0

Hi Satish,
You are sending IDOC's to SAP system right. we should create Business system not business service.
so we should create the business system as web AS ABAP in SLD and import the same in ID.
When we create the business system in SLD the logical system name is assigned for the business system. like SAPCLNT100...It plays a key role in IDOC scenarios.
sender message can not convert to ALE Logical system
Reasons for this issue is
1) logical system name is unable to read from SLD for that corresponding business system.
Goto business system click on Adapter specific identifiers from the menu --> read from SLD.
it will automatically fetch the logical system name from the SLD.
2) Sometimes the logical system name will be deleted from the business system in SLD.
Delete the business system and re-create it, and follow the above procedure.it will resolve your issue.

Can not insert Receiver and Sender objects in Business System of ID?

Dear All,
I am facing a strange situation that in existing Business System of the Integration Directory, both the Insert Line Below Selection and Delete Selected Lines bottons are not there for both Inbound Interfaces and Outbound Interfaces. But for the business service, everything is ok. Is this some access role issue? Any comments or suggestions will be appreciated!

Hi Nick,
This is correct only. And it is not an access issue.
The inbound / outbound interfaces gets populated based on the SWCVs installed on this particular business system in the SLD.
i.e., when you define the business system, if you added "installed products" the interfaces in the SWCVs gets added automatically...

Business systems are logical systems, which function as senders or receivers within PI. Business systems can be SAP systems or third-party systems.
Depending on the associated technical system, the following types of business systems are defined in the SLD:
Web AS ABAP:
A business system, which is associated with a Web AS ABAP.
A business system, which is associated with a Web AS ABAP, can play the role either of an application system or an integration server. An integration server is the central component of PI, which provides a framework for the exchange of information among various internal and external entities of a company. The integration server facilitates the interaction between the different operating systems and applications across internal and external networks.
Web AS Java:
A business system, which is associated with a Web AS Java.
Standalone:
A business system, which is associated with a standalone Java application.
Third-party:
A business system, which is associated with a third-party technical system.
Technical systems:
Technical systems are application systems that are installed in your system landscape. An example of an application system is a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) server. In the SLD, there are five types of technical systems:
Web AS ABAP:
Web AS ABAP technical systems, ranging from any SAP system to an APO server or CRM server, are based on the same Basis Component (BC), which includes the ABAP interpreter, ABAP Dictionary, ABAP Workbench, and so on. A dedicated database, which stores most of the data of the BC and the application components, is associated with the system.
Web AS Java:
Web AS Java systems consist of one or more instances and each instance is installed on a separate host. An instance itself consists of cluster nodes that can communicate with each other.
Standalone Java:
Standalone Java technical systems are standalone Java applications that are installed in a computer system from an administration perspective. They can also be installed as an operating system service or as a daemon.
Third-Party:
Third-party technical systems contain third-party software components and products.
