Role of copy profiles in client copy.

Hi All,
Can anybody give the idea regarding the role & importance of copy profiles in Cilent copy..
Regards
Srinivas K

Hi,
The client copy profile is the one which decides the kind of data that is going to get copied to the new client.
So choosing a profile depends on the kind of activity or the purpose for which the new client is been created. Ex :Training client ,testing etc.
For this we need to know the requirment clearly for what the requster is going to use the client accordingly choose the right profile to copy the client.
If we have good undersatnding of end users work then Basis persons can come up with a profile to be used in a client copy.
So classification of data plays important role in choosing a copy profile.Like Application data,Customizing data,User master data etc.
And also client depedent or independent data...
And for more details you can go through the above link provided by Deepu.
As far I know we can not copy the application data alone as it dependents on the customizing .
So we need to copy both of them together if we need application data.
Secondly we have be more careful if we are opting for a cross client customizing as this is going to impact not only the target client but also other clients in the system.

  • Difference between system copy and Remote Client copy?

    Hi,
Can any body suggest me , What are the major difference between System copy and Remote Client Copy.
As per my knowledge , Both are different
1.In system copy  entire data recovered mean copy from Source to target
2.In Remote client copy All  Client data can't me import if you choose SAP_ALL profile also
I hope Transaction data and user data can't copied
Anybody share this Question and Give me some idea about this
If anybody  give brief explanation that is very gratefull.
    regards,
    Balaram

    Hi,
System copy will replicate all database from source to target system.
In remote copy only client in which you are performing the copy will get refresh. Also, remote client copy will be done between systems on same patch level. with SAP_ALL profile you can bring all data in target system including your transactional data.

  • Profile for Client Copy

    Hi all,
I have to do a local client copy but i am confused as to what profile to be used. we have two clients 200 & 210 with master data in both. now we want to overwrite 200 client with the config, user-profiles and all but no master data of 210 so that 200 will be cleaned as  far as Master data is concerned and we can upload new Master data. but it shouldn't be overwritten by 20 Master data. Can you please help me with what profile to use? Is SAP_UCUS ok? or do i need to choose some other profile?
    Thanks & Regards,
    Priya

    Hi Priya,
    Taking into account that:
Application Data = Master Data + Transaction Data
And that you can not copy Application data without transaction data using client copy, maybe you can to either create a production client (SCCL) or take a export of client (SCC8) before creating transaction data .You can
either use SAP_ALL or SAP_APPL profile for this. See the notes 24853 and 19574 about it..
Nevertheless, It seems to me you want to copy customizing but not application data so best option is probably SAP_CUST.
    SAP_CUST
Client-dependent Customizing, including authorization profiles, are
copied. The application data is deleted and the user data is retained.
    User Data -> NO
    Customizing -> YES
    Application Data -> No (deleted)
    SAP_UCUS
Corresponds to SAP_CUST with user master data.
    User Data -> YES
    Customizing -> YES
    Application Data -> No (deleted)\

  • Condition record's not getting copied in local client copy !!!

    Hi ALL,
I have a one question/doubt regarding local client copy.
Our functional team creates condition type (for e.g.: thru FV11 for MM) in one client (golden), when I take client copy of that client with SAP_All profile, but condition type is not getting copied in the new client.
I found for Sap notes, in one note it was suggested that change documents are not copied with any profiles.
I found in FV11, there is one option, Send Condition, thru which we can send by Logical systems, but its giving error msg u201CNo relevant partner system DEVCLNT300 exists for output category COND_A
    Message no. VJ000u201D
Can u pls suggest proper way to copy/transport condition record in new client created?

  • Homogeneous system copy OR Remote client copy

    Dear all,
We have SAP ECC 6.0 system running on HP Unix and Oracle 10g. This is a production system.
We would like make an exact replica of this system into a test system for several tests.
To achieve this, I think there are two ways.
    Procedure 1.
    a. Install ECC 6.0 in similar platform and creat a new client.
    b. Perform remote client copy from production system to new test system.
    Procedure 2.
    a. Perform homogeneous system copy.
Could you please tell me which procedure would be the best one? and also we would like to know SAP Guide on how to perform this procedure.
    Thank you.
    Regards,
    Prashanth.R.G.

    Hi Prashanth,
Perform homogeneous system copy is the best solution for your requirment.
For Procedure for homogeneous system copy look below link.

    Hi.
SAP Help is a very good source for info -> [Link|http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70ehp1/helpdata/en/69/c24c4e4ba111d189750000e8322d00/frameset.htm].
I suggest that you read the manual carefully. There are many tipps to improve performance (parallel processes) and tipps and tricks to avoid problems. If you need some notes, they are adviced there.
Also the notes [116787|https://websmp230.sap-ag.de/sap%28bD1kZSZjPTAwMQ==%29/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=116787], [552711|https://websmp230.sap-ag.de/sap%28bD1kZSZjPTAwMQ==%29/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=552711], [67205|https://websmp230.sap-ag.de/sap%28bD1kZSZjPTAwMQ==%29/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=67205] or [489690|https://websmp230.sap-ag.de/sap%28bD1kZSZjPTAwMQ==%29/bc/bsp/spn/sapnotes/index2.htm?numm=489690] are interesting.

  • Scheduled Background jobs after Client Copy

    Hello,
I've been doing some searching online and I don't seem to be able to find a definitive answer to this question:
    Are background jobs client specific?
I've seen some discussions on here say some are and some are not.  I've also seen a discussion that says ALL background jobs are client specific.
It's really related to non-SAP background jobs after a client copy.
If I have a client 100 in QA with half a dozen non-SAP standard jobs configured, and I create client 110 in QA and perform a remote client copy from PROD into client 110 on QA, will my non-SAP standard backgrounds run in Client 110, or do I need to set them all up again?
    Thanks

    Hello All
If I have a client 100 in QA with half a dozen non-SAP standard jobs configured, and I create client 110 in QA and perform a remote client copy from PROD into client 110 on QA, will my non-SAP standard backgrounds run in Client 110, or do I need to set them all up again?
Yes. You will need to set those non standard jobs in the new client. When you schedule a job there will be a reference to the client where the job will be executed is stored under AUTHCKMAN in the table TBTCO. If the job is scheduled periodically then the job is executed only on the client where it is scheduled.
I used SAP_ALL profile when performing the client copy.  So my scheduled jobs WILL have been copied along with everything else? Is that correct?
In SAP_ALL profile the background jobs will be coming from source client not from QA client 100.
No. Background jobs are not transportable and will not be copied during a client copy. Job definitions are client independent.
    Read these SAP notes.
    31503 - FAQ: Background jobs
51135 - Why are bkgd processing jobs not generally transportable?
If you want to schedule those jobs in the new client the follow the suggestion in the SAP note 3150 point 6.

  • Missing record in customizing tabele after client copy

    Hi,
A box with Solaris 10 X64, SAP ECC 6.03, SAP AFS 6.03 and MaxDB 7.6.
In a just installed system we have crate two client as copy from 000 .... in this two client some customizing tables has missing records. In 000 client all is OK.
Have you have any idea ?
    Regards.
    Ganimede Dignan.

    Hi,
You have said customizing tables, are those the default one or build by you. If they are given default from SAP, please note that ceratin data  content is not copied even by Client copy (SAP_ALL profile) you have to do a manual entry.
Since CCopy have ended with no error and you ahve selected SAP_ALL profile but you dont see the data in the table, which means they cannot be moved by C.Copy and you have enter them manually.
    Regards,
    Raju.

  • Client copy using export

can we perform client export for a local client copy(e.g) in DEv system i need a client 500 .i can perform local client copy from 100 but can i do it through export as both clients are in same system.

    Hi,
There is an option for Client TRANSPORT which will help you perhaps:
A client transport differs from a remote client copy in that it does not use RFC. Like a remote client copy, however, a client transport is used to copy data between different R/3 Systems.
A client transport consists of two steps. First, a client export extracts client data from the source client to files at the operating system level. Second, the data is imported from the operating systemfiles into the target client.
To perform a client export, proceed as follows:
Log on to the source client. From the R/3 initial screen, choose:
*Tools *(r) *Administration *(r) *Administration *(r) *Client Admin. *(r) Client Transport(r) Client Export. Select the data to be copied using a profile.
Indicate the target system to which the client will be copied. (The target system must be defined in TMS as part of the transport domain.)
Begin the client export. As copying is a lengthy process, use scheduled background processing. The client export performed in the source system <S-SID>, exports the client data asynchronously bycalling the transport program tp at the operating system level. This export process will generate up to
3 data files at operating system level:
    . RT< number >; this file contains client-specific data
    . RO< number >; this file contains Cross-client data
. RX< number >; this file contains SAPscript texts
Depending on the type of data selected through the client transport profile, the client copy command
files added to the buffer of the target system are
<S-SID>KO<number>; this file is for cross-client data
<S-SID>KT<number>; this file is for client-specific data
<S-SID>KX<number>; this file is also for client-specific data
The client export change requests are not imported when an Import all takes place. Therefore, you must import these requests into the target client using TMS. You must import the data in the following order: first cross-client data, then client- specific data.
After the import process has completed, post-import activities are required possible for object generation steps. After completing the import, log on to the target client. From the R/3 initial screen, choose:
*Tools *(r) *Administration *(r) *Administration *(r) *Client Admin. *(r) *Client Transport *(r) ImportEditing
To display client transport logs, use the Transport Organizer.During client transport, a Repository consistency check can be performed by clicking the RFC system check button in Transaction SCC8.  If inconsistencies are detected, a list of the ABAP Dictionary tables definitions missing in the target system is generated. This will help your recognize in advance formal problems that may occur during the import of the source data.

  • Client Copy from BWP to BWT

I had a problem with my List Cube Transaction and for that reason, I had a look at the Infoprovider and also the Data Sources.
When tried to execute the infoproviders in LISTCUBE, the following messages are being displayed in BWT system:
    1. Error reading the data of InfoProvider ZIP_RC_01
    2. There is still no data source assigned to VirtualProvider ZIP_RC_01
But, when executed the same in BWD, then it is working fine.
I have checked the Data Sources in the R/3 Dev system and the DS has no problem. But, when I check the DS in the R/3 Prod (SS in BWT system), the following error message is displayed in the status bar:
"DataSource Z_IP_RC_DS_1 is not defined in the source system"
I thought, as the system says the Source system is not available, hence the problem in LISTCUBE and thought if we transport the DS again and then replicate in BW, then our problem would be resolved.
But, seems that even though the source system says "PRD300", if I look at SM59 it actually points to our QAS system. It says PRD300 because BWT is a copy down from BWP, and that's the source system we use - in other words the logical name is the same, but the actual servers are different.
In any case, the datasource is transported to our QAS enviroment.
So, once we do a client copy from Prod to Test, even the source systems get copied. If yes, then does it really affect in case of replications and transports???
I am really confused in this part...please explain.
    Thanks & Regards

    Hi,
It looks like the basis team, or whoever performed the Copy from production to QA box hasn't finished all the necessary Steps :
    Main transaction to know:
SSC4 -> To create new client
SCCL -> Client copy within local system
    SCC9 -> remote client copy
SCC3 -> display client copy log

Probably sounds like transaction BDLS hasn't been done.

  • Unable to do the Local Client Copy

    Hi, Experts
I have created a new client, and i have logged on that client and doing the local client copy. When I see the client copy log the client copy got cancelled.
When i check the log i am getting a error saying "The System's Time Zone Cannot be Determined. Enter it Using STZAC."
The time zone maintained in INDIA.
    Thanks & Regards

    Hello
    Perform some checks
Please make sure that SAP time is same as the time on the operating system
Also make sure that u maintain time in the original client i.e the client which u r copying
Also I would recommend that you first delete the new client, then maintain all setting for time zone through the note 667169 and then again try client copy
    hope it help

  • Local client copy for delta changes

    Hello Support,
We have requirement of copying data(local client copy) of last one month. This is a rrepetitiveactivity and has to be done once in every month.
For example, in DEV we have 3 clients 200, 210 clients. They make changes in 200 client and these changes has to be reflected in 210 clients. For changing 1 month data we can't perform client copy with SAP_ALL.
I have an idea that we can perform local client copy using TDMS 4.0 but can we do delta client copy?
    So, my question here is
    1. Can we perform client copy for specific selected data(by date, for eg last 30days) without deleting existing data?
    2. We have step 'Start Deletion of Data in Receiving System' in Time Based Reduction scenario, can we skip this and continue proceed with client copy?
    Thanks,
    Uday.

    Hello Uday,
SAP TDMS Time based reduction package copies the whole of master data and customization data along with the transactional data being filtered based on the Data Slice Date Provided.
SAP TDMS cannot be used for a Delta Copy to copy only a months data keeping the existing data in the system. If the requiremnt is to run every month, you could give an approritate slice date and transfer the whole data again using SAP TDMS which would include the latest one month data as well.
It is not recommended to skip the step "Data deletion in Receiver system" and then execute the SAP TDMS package. This can lead to issue during the transfer.

  • Client copy with different number of tables.

    Hi,
I want to do a client copy between Client '100' and Client '200'. There are 121 tables in Client 100 and 101 tables in Client 200. Is the client copy possible. If yes what are the steps.
Another question is. Is the reverse possible ie copying of client 200 (with 101 tables) to Client 100 (with 121 tables). If yes how. And also i would like to know what will be the state of 20 tables( not available in client 100). What i mean is, will these 20 tables become empty(data erased) or will contain the data as was before the client copy.
    Regards
    Naeem

    Dear Naeem,
Kindly let us know are you doing local client copy or remote client copy . If you are doing client copy then system is on same PS level . If you are doing local client copy just perform test run and find out the differences .If it is remote client copy ,Its better to perform client export and import .
    Thanks and Regards,
    Arun Kumar
