Role of ECC team

Hi,
I am new to SAP BI. What is the role of ECC team in a SAP BI Implementation.
Thanks

Ideally speaking, there is no role of ECC team in BI implementation.
You can go to ECC team in case
- you need help about the data like you need to know the source tables, T-code etc validate data in BI
- there is data load failure because of quality of data, you can get in touch with ECC team to understand if data needs to be corrected or something else is to be done to handle such scenarios
- you can take ECC team's help in creating data in test systems to validate your scenarios
- you need to be in touch with ECC team in cases where changes in ECC may impact BI e.g. changes in COPA, creation of new document types
In another way, you will need help of ECC team to gather some functional knowledge. Other than that there is no role of ECC team for BI implementation but there can be dependency like ECC changes should be moved first and then BI related changes.
You will need help from ECC Basis team in moving DS related transports to production system.
I hope it helps.

Gaurav

  • How to add multiple users to a role in ECC 6.0

How to add multiple users (say 1000) to a role in ECC 6.0?

    Hi
You can actually add multiple users to a role using transaction SU01. From SU01, use the menu Environment->Mass Changes.
Here you can manually add the users, select them by address or authorisation data. Once you have your user list, you can then add or remove roles and/or profiles.
Secondly , You can use SU10 to do mass changes to multiple users including role assignments per logical systems
    Also check the following link:

I hope this should do it

  • Middleware: changing roles in ECC

    Hi everyone,
What is the effect of changing the business partner role in either of the two systems e.g. if the role of a business partner was changed from Applicant to Financial customer in ECC?
I understand that a role in ECC can be mapped to a role in CRM, but is it possible to map two or more roles in ECC to two corresponding roles in CRM ?
    Best Regards,
    Jacob.
(As always, deserving points shall be rewarded)

    hi
mapping of role from CRM to ECC or vice versa involves a simple step that you maintain two persons as BP in both sides so that a single role is  mapped accordingly,
the effect of changing the role in ECC to any other role will map the person into the changed role in new system to which data is transferred from ECC.
for mpping of multiple roles in ECC and Crm you need to manitain the multiple persons per BP in two systems as i mentioned in the above rule, that way you can map as many roles you want.

  • Hide Role in ECC Easy Menu screen

    Forum
Majority of our endusers access ESS/MSS functionality via EP using SSO, so do not have visibility of the transaction codes assigned within their respective Abap roles in ECC.
However, a number of users do access ECC, via the Abap gui. The tcode content within their assigned roles are displayed on the Easy Access menu, as a tree structure. As well as viewing their functional access tcodes, they are also able to view their ESS/MSS tcodes.
Question: Is there an easy option to hide the ESS/MSS role content being displayed onto the ECC Easy Access user menu, since most of these tcodes cannot be executed in Abap screen anyway?
    Thanks in advance

Have you considered using the standard menu?
Or create a special area menu for these users and set that to be the starting menu on the user?
My advice would be to not use role based menus since it will complicate a lot of things like training, documentation etc.
It is wise to create an area menu for easy users and set that to be the starting menu of these users.

  • Uploading Roles from ECC 6.0 to SCM 5.1 (APO)

    Hi,
We are trying to re-use some roles created in SAP ECC 6.0 in order to be used in a APO(SAP SCM 5.10) system.
We downloaded and uploaded the roles to the target system, although we do not identify any problem in doing that I will like ask the experts if there is something that I should do or not, and if there is something that we have to take into account in doing this.
The roles are only for some activities that are the same in both systems like user administration, authorization administration and other technical stuff that is the same in both systems.
Our goal of course is that every time that we make changes in the source system we will download and upload in order to keep updated the target system.
I would like appreciate your opinion
    Best Regards

    > We downloaded and uploaded the roles to the target system, although we do not identify any problem in doing that I will like ask the experts if there is something that I should do or not, and if there is something that we have to take into account in doing this.
Well, there could be a difference in objects, customizing switches and patchlevels which could lead to unwanted (and sometimes almost invisble) problems. If there are objects in the roles that do not exist in the target system (or if they're linked to a non-existent object class) you will not be able to see or maintain them in PFCG.
This will also cause problems when transporting these roles through the target landscape.
So I'd suggest you thoroughly compare TOBJ on both systems and make sure these tables are identical for the objects concerned. That should cover technical issues. After that make sure the systems behave the same (customizing etc).

  • What is the role of Packaging Team

    Hi,
I have around 4.5 yrs of experience in SAP FICO and a Certification in FICO. Have worked for 2 Full Implementation cycles and 1 partial Implementation Cycle, and 2 support projects as a FICO consultant. Now the project where I am working, its a support project for a global roll out. When Issues come which impact the Global Financial Template it is handled by the Level 3 team, while I am at L2 team, which looks after local changes. L 3 team has their own developement and quality clients.
After L3 makes any changes which has an impact on the Global Financial Template, the Packaging team moves in and checks the impact of the changes on the Global financial template, stacks the transport request in a sequence and hands them over to the Release Team which then moves it to the local testing client.
Now, this packaging team is being moved to India and I have been asked to lead this team. Now I am working as FICO Consultant.
If anyone has worked or seen a Packaging team working, please let me know whether it will be a Good move to accept this role. I am worried because, I fear I will forget FICO and there wont be much of impact analysis also to be done in this role and when under pressure all we will be doing is bundling transport request and handing it over to the release team.
It would be really nice of someone if someone can guide me through this critical phase.

    Hi Ram,
This is not exactly Regression Testing. IN this role I will need to analyze the transport requests, do an impact analysis and give a go no-go decision whenever any change is going to impact the global template.
Advice me please if it is a good idea to take up this assignment

  • Role of BW Team in BWA Installation and Operations

I am the lead BW team member at my company.  We will likely be making our first BWA purchase in the next month or two.  I have been asked by my boss to determine what the BW team's role will be in the installation and on-going operation of BWA.  Unfortunately, I have not been included in a single BWA meeting to this point, so I am really in the dark.  I am hoping that some kind soul on this forum, who has already installed BWA, would be kind enough to share some information with me.  I am not looking for a tremendous amount of detail ... just enough to help decide what kind of education and training the BW team members will need to be able to perform our duties.

  • How to take Solution Manager Roles in ECC 6.0?

If I want some PFCG Roles from Solution Manager to ECC 6.0 then what is the easiest way should I used CUA (and select Solution Manager) as a system or what? I will be very thankful who ever will show me the right way. thanks in Advance

    Hi
You can do the same in 2 Ways.
    1) Make a list of all roles which are required and create TR for these and move it to ECC System.
    2) Form PFCG ,download all the roles in bulk and upload the same in ECC System

  • Automatic upload of roles from ECC to portal (UME with LDAP)

    Hi experts,
This thread reopen the question asked on the following message : automatic upload of roles from BI to portal
However, it concerns this time "UME with LDAP".
    Problematic :
SAP Library 04s tells us that is not yet possible to automate role replication (or role assigment replication) from ABAP Based back-end to Netweaver Portal. Only manual process for initial upload is possible.
    Source = http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/41/5e4d40ecf00272e10000000a155106/frameset.htm
    Questions :
1 - Did anyone ever try to implement such an automatic tool ?
2 - What if I'm not able to write on the Active Directory ? I am still able, at least, to automate role assignment replication from ABAP Based back-end to Netweaver Portal (ie. UME with LDAP) ? Directly from SAP R/3 to EP through UME, without passing through Active Directory since the group field is not maintained in AD.
    Many thanks for your inputs
    Alexis MARTIN

    Hello,
As I did not read the previous thread I don't know what exactly you are trying to achieve, but I can tell you about what we have done - as far as it is not too late yet.
We use the portal with integration to a BI system. In the ABAP stack we have lots of roles with menu items for hundreds of reports. We want the users to see these roles in the portal.
First we have used the role migration tool of the portal to upload these roles. There is a Java API for executing role uploads from code. You need to create a webservice in the java stack to call this api, and can call the webservice from ABAP.
However it is just a question of time and role size until this will not work at all. Standard role migration is more or less crap, stability is a problem. It also creates a lot of logs in the PCD and thus fills the database with trash. (After a few OSS messages there is now a program for deleting logs + you can turn of logging.) Also upload of larger roles takes up to an hour, and you alwasy have the problem that your portal roles are not up to date during the day.
When I got completely fed up, I have implemented an own navigation connector. When you log on to the portal it will connect to the ABAP stack via RFC, load the role, and generate the portal menu from it. It uses caching, but on every logon it checks whether the role has been updated in ABAP since the last time it was loaded. It is up to date, faster then PCD navigation, and you need absoluetely no periodical synching at all. I cant even understand why this is not offered by SAP per standard!
Drawback is that it will of course only work for the menu items, and only menu items with an "URL-type" are supported. I'm prettry sure however that it would be possible to implement a few other types as well.
Let me know if you are interested in the solution, I can give you a few additional details: oliverDOTsvisztATwienerbergerDOTcom

  • End User Roles Tab: Link to security roles on ECC?

    Hi-
There is a configurable value in the End User Roles tab where you can populate Roles. However when you select the values they only pull in roles loaded on the SolMan system. How can I access roles in target systems, so they can be mapped to my process hierarchy?

    Hi
what do u mean by target systems... satellites systems.......i think you are confused somehow
this tab is used for learning map user roles
check this out and read it completely

    Learning map use
You want to send the learning map to a group of users with the same business role, e.g. to all accountants in your company, or to the purchasing department. You copy existing business roles in the Solution Manager, or create new ones.

  • Importing master role from ECC into portal throws derived role exception

    Hello,
While uploading master and derived role from backend system into the portal I am getting the following exception.
com.sap.portal.pcd.rolemigration.RoleMigrationException: Nested Exception. Failure to execute native function. Nested Exception. ROLE_IS_DERIVED
Does it imply that the derived role is already imported with the import of master role and there is no need to explicitly import the derived role?
The landscape uses role upload tool of portal for UME.
    Regards
    Pooja

    Hi Pooja,
There is a limitation with the role upload tool that the derived roles cannot be uploaded.
The migration is only able to upload roles which have their own menus. Derived R/3 roles does not have menus themselves as they derive them from other roles. The purpose of the migration is to bring the R/3 navigation structures into the portal. Therefore you can only migrate the role from which your role is derived.

  • RARs' criteria for analyzing roles in ECC backend system?

    Hi All,
I'm working on setting up a prototype of Access Control 5.3. In RAR I notice the analyzis of roles is not done for all roles.
I have taken note 1179717 into consideration, and also performed mass user compare. But not all roles are analyzed yet.
Some of the roles are not tied to a profile, but it seems RAR does not segregate on this.
Does anyone have a list of criteria RAR uses when looking at what roles to analyze?
    Thanks in advance,
    Leif Nilsson

    Hello Leif,
You can find SAP Notes only on SAP Service Marketplace
    https://websmp103.sap-ag.de/notes
You cannot directly compare the numbers of RAR with the roles you want to analyze, without following the below steps completed successfully.
1- Connect the SAP backend system to Risk Analysis and Remediation and complete all post-install activities.
2- First you have to run the report RHAUTUPD_NEW in your backend system.
3- Select all roles, select 'Perform User Master Comparison', but check only "cleanups" from the 'editing types'.
    4- Now execute the report.
5- When finished re-run a full user, role, profile synchronization for this SAP backend system in Risk Analysis and Remediation.
There are two types of synchronization, Full and Incremental:
    6- Select Full synchronization
7- Perform Batch Risk Analysis. This is the core function of RAR.  By performing a batch risk analysis, the security of the users/roles/profiles are compared against the Segregation of Duties rules to identify possible conflicts. It then makes a call to the back-end system to retrieve the authorization assigned to each of these user/roles/profiles.  It then performs the analysis against the rules in the front-end.
8- Run Management Reports. Running this piece of the job is what ultimately updates the numbers you see on the Management Report and table virsa_cc_prmvl is updated.
9-  You will get the list of total Number of Violations , the Violation count by Risk and  Violation Count by Permission
Now you are ready to compare the numbers in the following way, seen below.
10- Log on to your SAP backend system and use transaction SE11 to identify single roles with profiles from table AGR_1016, but note that roles having multiple profiles appear multiple times in this table.Count the number of distinct roles in table AGR_1016.
11- Now, only count those distinct roles in AGR_1016 that have also an entry in AGR_DEFINE. You can do this with a small custom report or with Excell.
12- In your SAP backend System use transaction SE11 to count the number of profile in table USR10 having the flag 'AKTPS' set to 'A'. Each profile appears only once in this table.
This number should match the number on profiles synchronized in Risk Analysis and Remediation.
    Thanks,
    Mohi

  • Investigate - ECC roles for retirement.

I am trying to investigate and find roles that can be retired in the ECC system. How do I come up with a list of roles that are ready for retirement (due to unuse or wrong naming convention, etc, etc)?
What are the questions I should be asking?
I have tried to follow the below approach, but it doesn´t seem to be effective enough:
note- From hereon, when I mention roles, it means Z-Roles only.
Please find the method I used to analysis the issue below:
Requirement:  Investigate - ECC roles for retirement.
    (Self made points below)
    1. Document all roles in ECC, that have never been assigned to any user.
    2. Document all the roles in ECC, that do not have any users assigned to
    it since atleast one year.
    3. Document all the roles in ECC, that are forbidden to be assigned to
    any roles.
    4. Document all the roles in ECC, that do not follow the standard naming
    convention defined by the organisation.
My question - Should I extend this list?
    Analysis:
    Transactions used extensively during analysis:
    SE16 Data browser
    SUIM User Information system
    S_BCE_68001425 Roles by Complex Criteria
    PFCG Role Maintenence
    Tables user extensively during analysis:
    AGR_AGRS  Roles in Composite Roles
    AGR_DEFINE  Role definition
AGR_USERS  Assignment of roles to users
Actions taken, to reach the solution:
    1. Single Roles - Without assignment in the last one year ( There has been no user assignment to these roles for atleast one
year and no changes have been done to the role during this time.
These roles are currently without any user assigned to them.
2.Forbidden roles: These roles are not to be assigned to any users and it
can be strongly recommended that they should be retired.
There are currently no user assignement for this roles.
    3. Wrong Naming convention :  Roles that donot follow the
standard role naming conventions (as defined). These roles should be
    retired.

    Hi..
Last month we did this clean up activity. But after a lot of meandering here and there, like what has been stated, finally i decided to take help of the functional consultants of each module of SAP and removed all unwanted roles - from end users. It was a massive exercise, esp when roles were assigned indirectly,  but finally we could clean up a bit.
But for some reasons, the back end team has kept the roles on the system and roles have not been deleted or completely removed from the system itself. May be as part of 2nd phase of clean up, we would do that.
And also that was the reason why we felt - as to whether it is ok, to make any role as non-editable, and identify it, all those roles in one go, for a direct clean up at a later date. But I was not able to categorize that way.
In case you have some other better ideas of cleaning up the system completely, please share your thoughts too. It would be very helpful.
    Thanks

  • Developer Role for CRM Functional Team

    Hello,
I would like to have your inputs on creating a developer role for CRM Functional Team in Dev system.
I found a standard role SAPCRM_DEVELOPER , does it has sufficient Authorisations to carry out the config work in CRM or do we need any more additional Auth.
The team members also have IC AgentIC ManagerSrv Pro roles as well.
    Thanks in advance
    regards
    sam

    Hi,
You don't need a role to development team. You can assign the auth. in dev system and perform the tests in the specifics roles.

  • CRM-ECC BP roles

    HI,
I need to integrate CRM-ECC customer master data.
I have the 'FI Customer' role in ECC, but I have not seen a similar BP role in CRM (that allows me to enter Company Code).
Where can I find the matching BP roles between CRM-ECC?
Any input is very much appreciated. Thanks

BP data is different in CRM to ECC.  Matching roles in CRM to account groups in ECC.  Look at t-code PIDE in ECC.
