Role upload into BI portal pointing to 3.x version

Hi,
sap BI Bakend menu roles uploaded into BI Portal, But When I check iview property BWVersion its pointing to 2.x/3.x instead of Netweaver BI 7.0
And I assumed queries developed in 3.x pointing to 2.x/3.x. to avoid that I opened query in 7.x tool and saved and uploaded even though its pointing to 2.x/3.x template. Does there any bug or Are we missing any step in the part of upgrade?
Please your thoughts on this.

  • Uploading BSP application into the portal

    Hi friends,
Can anybody please tell me how to upload BSP application into the portal.i.e.,as how the Par file is getting uploaded into the portal.
I have created one BSP application.Iwant to run this  application into the portal.
    Thanks and regards
    sireesha

    Dear Mr. esukapelli,
you do not need to upload the BSP application into the portal. The BSP application is an application which runs on the backend system, where it has been created.
What you need to do is to create a BSP iview in the portal in order to call it on the backend server. In this iview you tell which system it is running on, and the application name. Check out: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/30/1b62799d786445a72ad85acb4fd55b/content.htm for help on how to create it on EP6.0
Make sure you create a system for the backend system in the portal. If you want Single-Sign-on between the BSP application and the backend, you need to configure SSO as well.
    Best regards,

  • Hide automatic created folder from role upload

    Hi,
when I make a role upload to the portal, a top folder with the same name as the role is automatically created. Is it possible to disable this feature or hide the folder afterwards?
I have created my own folder structure in the portal, which defines the first two levels of navigation, and then made a delta link from this structure to the uploaded role. The content of the uploaded role is automatically put in a folder on third level instead of directly under the second level folder. This way the user has to click first on the role and then on the folder to get to the content. This is not very user friendly.
    Hope someone can help.
    Regards Morten

Have you tried changing the 'Entry Point'  property within the uploaded roles ?
When you do a role upload, you have the chance to automatically create the roles as worksets (rather than portal roles).  Have you tried doing this?  I think you get fewer levels (from memory)
Also,  is your composite (backend) role design already in place and finished?  It is worth trying to consider the portal when doing the backend composite role design in order to prevent issues like this.

  • Role Upload - System Aliases not used

We are having a strange occurance during role upload.
In the migrated content area, iViews are being created in folders that refer to system aliases used (e.g. R3, BW, etc.).  However, the "System" property of each iView is set to the logical system name (e.g. RDV123, BDV123) rather than the alias.  We would like the role upload to set the "System" property to the alias names by default.  Does anyone know how to accomplish this?  Does anyone know why it doesn't do this in the first place?

    Thanks for the input.
Right now my system connectors are all setup with their logical names (e.g. RDV123) as well as a generic alias that is used across landscapes (R3).
My dilemma is transport to QA and Production. I could very well go into PROD and QA and make an alias on those production systems for dev (e.g. make an alias for RPR123 to also show as RDV123), but this would create conflicts.  I;d prefer to just use very generic aliases across all systems such as "R3".
Is there no way into tricking the role upload into referencing some table to know that instead of logical name, use default alias so it will be transportable?

  • BI Role upload to Portals got messy

I posted same question on the PCD but got no response so I am reposting this here. we have a Role called Power User and inside there are 10 different folders for each plant and in turn each of these folders have some queries embedded in them. We uploaded this Role into Portals (Netweaver 2004s) and after that our portals page got messy, now it shows 11 tabs, one for the Main Role Power user and then followed by the 10 sub folders. We expected that there would only be one folder visible and then when we double click on it it should show all those sub folders in one window on the left hadn pane (Detailed navigation).
One more thing we notice is that thought the role got uploaded all these tabs are blank when I click on any of them...
Can someone guide what we are missing here....

    This is what I DId:
       1. System Admin -? Role Upload -> SAP ROle Upload
        Selected: Upload user mapping
        Selected: Upload Included Services
Selected: Selecte First Level nag as Entry Point
    Overwrite Existing Role Selected..
Actually I have not paid attention before but I have got some error messages that I missed earlier during Rle Upload:

  • What is the mean of using Portal with Role Based security as entry point

Hi Experts we have requirement of integration of Portal and MDM
I am completely new to the MDM. So please give me some idea , what is the meanin for following points.
    1) Using the Portal with Role Based security as entry point for capacity and Routing Maintaince(These two are some modules).
    2) Additionally , Portal should have capability to enter in to the MDM for future master data maintence. Feeds of data will need to be come from  SAP 4.6c
Please give me the clarity of what is the meanin of second point
    Regards
    Vijay

    Hi
It requires the entire land scape like EP server and MDM server both should be configured in SLD.
Your requirement is maintaing and updating the MDM data with Enterprise portal. We have some Business Packages to install in Portal inorder to access the functionality of MDM.
Portal gives you a secure role based functionality of MDM through Single sign on (login into the portal access any application) to their end users.
    Please go through this link
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_mdmgds55/helpdata/EN/45/c8cd92dc7f4ebbe10000000a11466f/frameset.htm
You need to develope some custom applications which should be integrated into the portal to access MDM Server master data
The estimation involves as per your requirement clearly
Its depends upon the Landscape settings, Requirement complexity,Identify how many number of custom applications need to be developed

  • Role upload from portal.

    hi,
I am attempting to upload a sampling of R/3 ECC 6.0 roles into the portal (EP7.0). I have the system connection defined and testing successfully. I unfortunately can not execute the upload function. After defining the selections that I wish to upload, in this case a role, I receive the red exclamation mark followed by
"Could not perform action. Check the role migration log for additional information"
Please let me know how to upload sap roles from portal.
    thanks in advance.

  • Automatic upload of roles from ECC to portal (UME with LDAP)

    Hi experts,
This thread reopen the question asked on the following message : automatic upload of roles from BI to portal
However, it concerns this time "UME with LDAP".
    Problematic :
SAP Library 04s tells us that is not yet possible to automate role replication (or role assigment replication) from ABAP Based back-end to Netweaver Portal. Only manual process for initial upload is possible.
    Source = http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/41/5e4d40ecf00272e10000000a155106/frameset.htm
    Questions :
1 - Did anyone ever try to implement such an automatic tool ?
2 - What if I'm not able to write on the Active Directory ? I am still able, at least, to automate role assignment replication from ABAP Based back-end to Netweaver Portal (ie. UME with LDAP) ? Directly from SAP R/3 to EP through UME, without passing through Active Directory since the group field is not maintained in AD.
    Many thanks for your inputs
    Alexis MARTIN

    Hello,
As I did not read the previous thread I don't know what exactly you are trying to achieve, but I can tell you about what we have done - as far as it is not too late yet.
We use the portal with integration to a BI system. In the ABAP stack we have lots of roles with menu items for hundreds of reports. We want the users to see these roles in the portal.
First we have used the role migration tool of the portal to upload these roles. There is a Java API for executing role uploads from code. You need to create a webservice in the java stack to call this api, and can call the webservice from ABAP.
However it is just a question of time and role size until this will not work at all. Standard role migration is more or less crap, stability is a problem. It also creates a lot of logs in the PCD and thus fills the database with trash. (After a few OSS messages there is now a program for deleting logs + you can turn of logging.) Also upload of larger roles takes up to an hour, and you alwasy have the problem that your portal roles are not up to date during the day.
When I got completely fed up, I have implemented an own navigation connector. When you log on to the portal it will connect to the ABAP stack via RFC, load the role, and generate the portal menu from it. It uses caching, but on every logon it checks whether the role has been updated in ABAP since the last time it was loaded. It is up to date, faster then PCD navigation, and you need absoluetely no periodical synching at all. I cant even understand why this is not offered by SAP per standard!
Drawback is that it will of course only work for the menu items, and only menu items with an "URL-type" are supported. I'm prettry sure however that it would be possible to implement a few other types as well.
Let me know if you are interested in the solution, I can give you a few additional details: oliverDOTsvisztATwienerbergerDOTcom

  • Role upload entry point.

    Hi ,
I'm doing a role upload of a BW Menu role.
When I'm uploading the first level folders a set as entry point by default.
If i uncheck the option no entry point is selected.
I want the entry point to be set as the role it self.
How can I acheive this ?
These roles are updated in production as well, so i need to be able to update the roles ad-hoc.
Without making changes to the afterwards.
    Best Regards
    Rasmus

    Hi,
Create a ROLE. Assign to users.
Add one folder. Set as entrypoint.
Import BW roles as worksets and do not select create entrypoints.
Add imported worksets to folder of the role.
    Hope this helps,

  • Problem with UI5 ESS URL with Role Upload in HR Renewal 2.0

    Hi Experts,
We are in the process of implementing the HR Renewal 2.0 FP1.
I have made the custom copy of the Standard PFCG ESS role SAP_EMPLOYEE_ESS_XX_UI5_1 into ZSAP_EMPLOYEE_ESS_XX_UI5_1.
I was able to upload this role in to SAP Portal by selecting the default system object created to point to our ECC system and assigned the ESS role to the end user.
Now the problem is with the URL which needs to points to the UI5 ESS Landing page in the ECC system. Instead the URL path now is,
    http://portalhost:50000/sap/bc/ui5_ui5/sap/arsrvc_suite_pb/main.html?page=HR_SELFSERVICES.
I have maintained the system object name in the Generic Content property category of iView and still it picks up the portal URL.
The relative path should be appended with the ECC host details instead of portal host details.
Please help me to resolve the issue.
    Thanks,
    Urmi

    Hi Sharadha,
Run the role from backend and make sure its has correct expected url, then from portal we can address it easily.
Once you copy and make Zrole, you have to modify and it should point it to the correct catalog.
In case if you still face issue, pls open a new  thread and past ur screen shots and details, so that we can suggest appropriate.
