Role VN not defined in master record for vendor

Hi Experts,
I have created new partner role (Z1) coping VN and I am using only that in Vendor master. When I create a PO, it still asks for partner role VN to be defined in vendor master. I have checked in partner schema's and the partner role VN is not mandatory. I want to use only customized role Z1 in PO's. Please let me know why the system throws the message "Role VN not defined in master record for vendor XXXX" ?

if you use partner functions, then VN is a mandatory role, regardless if it is set optional.
There is some coding which only checks on VN partner.
E.g. in message processing like described in OSS Note 457497 - FAQ: Message processing in purchasing:
In Customizing, I have configured the partner role OA (ordering address) for message determination and I have assigned this role to the vendor master. However, why is message determination performed for the corresponding vendor (role VN) and not the ordering address (role OA)?
Answer:
In the purchase order, correct message determination can be processed only with partner role VN (vendor). If you select the "New partner role determination" (NEUPR) checkbox in Customizing of the message determination for purchase orders, the system proposes all partners for message determination and it transfers the role VN (vendor).
*If you do not select this checkbox, only the role OA (ordering address) is used for message determination, but the role is changed to VN (vendor) for program-technical reasons.
It is a restriction of the SAP Basis components that faxes can be sent to vendors only*.

    Hi,
    Description summary:Automating creation of HR master record For a user when a time entry role is added to a user account
    Description detail:When time entry role is provisioned to a user account,the HR master record is linked,It is compleated after a user is created because a user id must exist .
    It is part of the record.In addition the user must be hired into SAP in order for the HR Master Record to Appear in SAP.
    What we need to do is when a 'Time and Personal Data Maintainer Role "is Added by the VIRSA_ADMIN user,automate the creation of the HR Master Record.
    Transaction code :SU01 to add the role to the Account.
    How to Create the User Exists For this Request…Its very urgent pls help me on this.

    Why do you need a User Exit? You can create a BDC on PA40 & kick it off upon adding the role..

  • Timesheet Booking - Master record for CC and Activity Type

    Hi All,
    We have maintained the Personnel number HR Master Data for Info Type = 315 as follows:
    Period: Start 01.02.2010 to 31.12.9999
    Sender Cost Center: 101067106
    Activity Type: 007000
    Period: Start 01.05.2009 to 31.01.2010
    Sender Cost Center: 101067101
    Activity Type: 006240
    I am trying to book/edit the time for Week 04.2010 [Data Entry Period 25.01.2010 - 31.01.2010] in CAT2 Transaction Code then getting an error message as-
    u201CCreate a master record for 101067106/007000u201D
    Message no. KL001
    Also Price Planning is not yet done for new/latest combination of CC and Activity Type i.e. Period: Start 01.02.2010 to 31.12.9999
    I think system is picking up latest/current Cost Center and Activity Type in an error message and not according to Data entry Period entered CC and Activity type in CAT2.
    Also one thing we have observed that in CAT2 Transaction Code CC filed is showing current Period cost Center only for all Period.
    Is it standard behaviour from Logic point of view.?
    Please suggest the solution regarding the above mentioned situation.

    When are default values used from the employee master record?
    The default values are only used for new CATS records, not for changing,
    not for copying. If you also want to use the default values changing,
    not for copying. If you also want to use the default values from the
    employee master record when changing and copying from the work list, you
    can use SAP enhancement CATS0002.
    The system only uses default values, if you enter a number of hours and
    choose 'Return'.
    The cost center from infotype 0001 ('Organizational Assignment') is
    proposed, if in Customizing of the data entry profile, you selected the
    'Master cost center' field in the 'Default values' area.
    The system proposes the cost center and the activity type from infotype
    0315 ('Time Sheet Defaults'), if in Customizing of the data entry
    profile you selected the 'Cost center' field (or the 'Activity type'
    field).
    If you have chosen both fields, the cost center from infotype 0315 has
    priority, if you have defined it for the corresponding period.
    read the note 333884 it explains that only creating new values the data from 0315 defaults

  • Using the same Asset Master Record for similar assets

    Dear all,
    I would like to ask if it is possible to use the same asset master record for multiple assets which are similar. The assets will be posted in different periods / fiscal years and therefore the depreciation would change and be charged according to the useful life of the individual assets posted to the same master record and which in turn will vary according to periods / fiscal year posted.
    For example, an asset master record is created for Vehicles. The 1st vehicle with a useful life of 4 years is depreciated at the start of the year for 4 years. The second vehicle is purchased on 6 months after on the 1st June using the same asset master record. However the depreciation is not worked out over the same useful life of the previous vehicle but is extended for a further 6 periods. Is this possible and how is it done.

    What is the issue in case you created separate Asset Master for each Vehcile ? Is there any specific need for you to accommodate all the assets in one single asset master ?
    I don't think it is correct method as per Company's Act. Over and above, how would you plan for the Fixed Assets Register in the given situation ?

    Hi Gurus,
    I was using the timesheet (CAT2) and while plugging in the data, i got this message: A Master Record for 412000/4400PM only exists in 2007.  When I clicked the log, the diagnosis is: you want to use cost center 412000 together with activity type 4400PM.  For this combination, however only one master data record was created in fiscal year 2007.  the record is defined in CCA during activity type planning.

    3. Assign Partner Function in Partner Determination Procedure
    4. Partner Determination Procedure Assignment,  assigning Customer Account Group & Partner Function.
    5. Finally, Account Groups & Partner Function Assignment.

    I already setup Electronic signature for RR and UD. but having problem to complete transaction.
    When a Digital signature is executed, the system should copies the signatory name from the user master record to the signed document. However, the name has not been maintained completely in user master record and for this reason, i cannot execute the signature. So how can i setup User master record for Particular group of user?

    It is actuly comes under QM module to save the test record, but before saving it, we need to have authorization.
    For authorization, we are having digital signature.
    So i need to assign user group for particular those authorization digital signature. so i thought, might be IDM can help on that?
    How would i do that? so are you guys able to help me on that ?

        To do this, choose Maintain entries (F5).
        1.  Check whether the required tax determination procedure
            is assigned to the relevant country. the Procedure
            field is in the detail screen.
        2.  Create a new tax code if required.

    You can define the tax code for your country using the following menupath in customizing:
    IMG>Financial Accounting>Financial Accounting Global Settings>Tax on Sales and Purchases>Calculation-->Define tax codes ........... in the next screen enter your country and then the tax code you wish to create and press enter. You would be then directed to another screen, where you would maintain the description and whether it is a  Input tax or Output tax and then maintain the appropriate tax percentage and save.
    Your country should also be assigned to a calculation procedure. You check the same using the same menupath as mentioned above: .............Tax on Sales and purchases>Basic Settings>Assign country to calculation procedure........In the next screen, enter the appropriate tax procedure for your country. Eg: for country DE assign tax procedure as TAXD and save.

                                               though the house bank and ID exists in the system and accounts are assigned in the area OBVCU (FBZP) at "Bank Accounts" area. except the account the DISCOUNT ACCOUNT (G/L A/C is assigned)  in the FI12 at Bank accounts area.
    4, Error (2),  Retd bills exch. acct missing for house bank acct BBVA1 BBVAC (house bank &ID) and pyt method.
                       system response is : Bills of exchange is imported but excluded for further processing.

    one of the G/L accounts for which you have specified in revenue accoutn determination (T code -VKOA) has a setting which requires assignment ot a CO object.
    check for the g/accounts detremined, goto FS00 enter the g/l account and the company code
    Click on the Edit cost element tab. chcek the entries there, if ther is a entry it means cost assignemtn is reuqired
    check with the FICo consultant , if this is really requried and what is the object desired.
    based on that , you can have the object , if it si related to sales order then WBS element, internal order etc can be input

    We use a Third-Party Vendor to direct-ship some products directly to our Customers.
    When transfers third party order form's PR STO PO, prompts the following information
    Third-party not defined in the case of vendor with plant assignment
    Message no. 06769
    Diagnosis
    You are entering a purchase transaction involving a vendor to whom a plant has been assigned. Normally, this will involve the transfer of materials from one plant to another.
    This process necessitates a delivery and a billing document in the SD system. The PO appears directly in the delivery due list of the issuing plant (vendor) and therefore does not need to be transmitted.
    However, an item with the procurement form "third-party" (triangular business deal) cannot appear in the delivery due list.
    Procedure
    An item with the procurement form "third-party" can only be ordered from vendors without a plant assignment.
    how should solve?

    Follow below procees for third party sales( Vendor ship materials directly to customer)
