Roles in the database
Hi Team !
I need to find out the Roles in the database which contains only Read only Permission on the Objects .
Could you please help me out .
Thanks in advance .
Regards,
Augustine
Try with this. Not very elegant but found the role for me :)
select a.role from role_tab_privs a
group by role
having count(*) = (select count(*) from role_tab_privs b where b.privilege='SELECT' and a.role= b.role);

Remote Desktop Licensing Role - Rebuild the Database?
My server is failing, so i want to rebuild the database. I have already installed the Remote Desktop Licensing Role. Should I rebuid from the Remote Desktop Licensing Manager or use the Add-RDLicense cmdlet?
Hi Andrew,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
It depends on your requirement, you can check the following link for useful information.

Forms/Reports: Role of the Database cache and Web cache
Hello oracle experts,
I am running a purely Forms and Reports based environment (9iAS).
My question are:
a. Is it possible to use features from the Web Cache and
Database Cache to boost the performance of my applications?
b. Are all components monitorable from the OEM?
Please guide me so that i can configure my OEM to monitor my
forms and reports services.
thanks in advance for your reply
Kind regards
YogeerajHi BradW,
The way this is supposed to be done in Web Cache is by keeping separate copies of a cached page for different types of browsers distinguished by User-Agent header.
In case of cache miss, Web Cache expects origin servers to return appropriate version of the page based on browser type, and the page from the origin server is just forwarded back to browser.
Here, if the page is cacheable, Web Cache retains a separate copy for each type of User-Agent header value.
And when there is a hit on this cached page, Web Cache returns the version of page with the User-Agent header that matches the request.
Check out the config screen titled "Header Association" for this feature.
About forwarding requests to different origin servers based on User-Agent header value, Web Cache does not have such capability. -
I recently created a PowerPivot workbook that got pushed out to my enterprise's tabular server. And while our current IT policies keep me from being able to be an SSAS Administrator, I
did get included in the Admin role for the database itself (not the server.) And that's where I'm a little lost.
The database permissions for the Admin role are set for Full control, Process database, and Read. And yes, I can read and process the database. But is it possible for me to make any changes to the model itself? The only way I could think of to make changes
was to suck the model back down into Visual Studio, edit, and redeploy. But it looks like deploying requires being an Admin of the
server to push the metadata.
I'd love to know if I'm understanding things correctly.
Thanks so much,
Henson
**EDIT** Looking at this page, it seems that all you can really do on a database level is delete it or change the properties, not the model itself: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms175596.aspxHi Techhenson,
According to your description, you want to know if you can change the SQL Server Analysis Services tabular model as a database administrator, right?
I have tested it on my local environemnt, as a database administrator, we can change the tabular model properties in SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS). If we need to change the structure of the tabular model, we need to create a Import Project to import
the model on SQL Server Data Tolls (SSDT), and then modify the model and redeploy it to the server.

How to find the user - role assignments in the database for EP6 SP9?
L.S.,
We have a quite specific requirement: to see which users have access to our portal environment (EP6 SP9). It does not immediately matter (though would probably still be nice to know if possible) which roles users have exactly.
I've been looking in the database to find user-to-role assignments there, but I'm unable to find any. The closest I got is the PID filed in the UME_STRINGS table, but users remain listed there even when all their portal roles are revoked afterwards. Any ideas?
Kind Regards,
Steven Dijkmanhi Steven,
Sorry but you will have to write some code. the following lines of code will work for you.
IRoleSearchFilter rolefilter = UMFactory.getRoleFactory().getRoleSearchFilter();
ISearchResult result = UMFactory.getRoleFactory().searchRoles(rolefilter);
while (result.hasNext()) {
String rolestr = (String) result.next();
IRole r = UMFactory.getRoleFactory().getRole(rolestr);
response.write(r.getDisplayName());
response.write("<br>");
Iterator users = r.getMembers(true);
while (users.hasNext()){
String userstr = (String)users.next();
IUser user = UMFactory.getUserFactory().getUser(userstr);
response.write(user.getDisplayName()); -
How to determine the database mirroring role via Powershell?
Is there a way to determine the current mirroring role of a database via Powershell without the use of t-sql?
With the Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo namespace and database class I can determine the status, witness and partner of the mirrored database, but I can't determine the mirroring role of the current database. I basically want to get the same result
as the following t-sql query in powershell without using t-sql:
SELECT m.mirroring_role_desc
FROM sys.database_mirroring m JOIN sys.databases d
ON m.database_id = d.database_id
WHERE d.name = 'databasename'
I find it very strange that there is no class property to check for this, while it is an important property of the database. Of course I can use the output of this query in my powershell script for further processing, but I still hope that there is a property
where I can get this information.
TheSultan8Just to let you know, I've already found it. Here is a part of the code that I use for checking each mirrored database what mirroring role it has:
$sqlconnection="MYLAPTOP\SQL2008R2"
$smo = New-Object ('Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.Server') $sqlconnection
$mirroreddbs=$smo.Databases | where {$_.IsMirroringEnabled -eq "True"}
$sqlversionmajor=$smo.VersionMajor
foreach ($database in $mirroreddbs)
# Versions lower than SQL 2008 can't query a database in recovery mode
if ($sqlversionmajor -ge 10)
$dbrolevalue=$database.DatabaseOptions.Properties | where {$_.Name -eq "MirroringRole"}
$dbrole=$dbrolevalue.Value
One catch though, this only works on SQL 2008 and higher version.

APEX DBA role to monitor the database, is there a workaround?
I have a developer who wishes to access the database monitor for performance monitoring, but I do not wish to give him DBA privileges. Is apex looking for the DBA role explicitly?
I am trying to avoid having to perform a daily manual process (I monitor about a dozen email accounts - not all of them from ISP's with the 60 day deletion window). The ISP's 60 day deletion window is rolling - each day different existing messages are about to reach the threshold. I don't want to mark messages as Read for all messages, just those that are about to be 60 days old. I know that I can do this by creating a smart mailbox that only has messages that are 59 days old, select all of the smart mailbox messages and then right-click and "Mark as Read", but this would have to be a daily, manual process.

Hello,
I am confused now, DashBoard says the database on instance A is primary role, but the dm_hadr_availability_replica_states doesn't agree this.
Is it a bug or something else? I didn't find error in log.

Find particular database role permission on all the databases of an instance
Hi Team,
I want to find particular database role permission on all the databases of a instance.
Example: 50 databases are running on an instance. I want to find datareader permission of ABCDE account, on which of the databases it exist?
Please provide me a customized script to find it.
Thanks
KumarHi K735,
According to your description, you want to find databases where a specific database role of a specific user exists. To do this, you could execute the stored procedure below by proving a value for each of the two parameters (@databaseRole, @user) to
specify the database role and the user as the following example: execute findDatabaseRole 'db_datareader', 'testUser'
USE master
GO
CREATE PROCEDURE dbo.findDatabaseRole
@databaseRole VARCHAR(200),
@user VARCHAR(250)
AS
DECLARE @DBuser_sql VARCHAR(4000)
DECLARE @DBuser_table TABLE
AssociatedDatabaseRole VARCHAR(200),
DBName VARCHAR(200),
UserName VARCHAR(250),
LoginType VARCHAR(500)
INSERT @DBuser_table
EXEC sp_MSforeachdb @command1='SELECT USER_NAME(b.role_principal_id) AS AssociatedDatabaseRole, "[?]" AS DBName, a.name AS Name,
a.type_desc AS LoginType FROM [?].sys.database_principals a
, [?].sys.database_role_members b where a.principal_id=b.member_principal_id and
a.sid NOT IN (0x01,0x00) AND a.sid IS NOT NULL AND a.type NOT IN ("C")
AND a.is_fixed_role <> 1 AND a.name NOT LIKE "##%" AND "?" NOT IN ("master","msdb","model","tempdb")
ORDER BY Name'
SELECT AssociatedDatabaseRole, DBName,UserName,LoginType
FROM @DBuser_table WHERE UserName=@user and AssociatedDatabaseRole=@databaseRole
group by AssociatedDatabaseRole, DBName,UserName,LoginType
GO

Changing Portal Role after the status change of user status at the CRM end.
Hi,
I have Portal with Java database as the default and CRM is connected to it using SSO.The database in both the case in separate.The users that are created in Portal will have a BP status in CRM sytsem.
Now my requirement is that if the status of the BP gets changed at the backend simultaneoulsy its Portal role should also gets changed.How shall i facilitate this procedure of changing the Portal Role?
Is there any RFC ,BAPi or Webservices required for this?
Regards,
Amarys
Edited by: amarys on Sep 13, 2011 11:20 AMHello,
Since the status has no number it will appear under statuses W/O number bottom right in status overview window.
These status will appear as additional text beside current user status. For example if user staus is BUG and status without number is DFL and sets when deletion flag is set and gets deleted when it is revoked than user status will appear as
BUG DFL -
Deletion flag set.
BUG -
When deletion flag revoked.
You have to live with it. I don't think there is a way out for that.
Thanks

I recently started working on the Oracle SQL developer. I have 'select' privileges on the QA schema and when tried to execute proc in QA. It is giving the error as 'The file-based source <procedure Name> is not present in the database. Was it compiled?'
instead 'you do not have sufficient privileges to execute this procedure'. Did research on internet but with no luck.What configuration changes needed to be done to make it work.Guide me.Sounds like you do not have the correct privileges. What should have been granted to you by the QA user, or some other user with appropriate privileges, is...
grant EXECUTE on "QA"."<PROCEDURE_OF_INTEREST>" to "<YOUR_USERID>" ;
Note that a grant of execute on a procedure has nothing to do with grants of select on some or all of QA's tables and views.
So, as Vadim suggests, from your connection node in SQL Developer's Connections view, if you expand the Other Users node, then expand QA and look in the Procedures node, do you see the procedure of interest? If not, you cannot expect to be able to execute it from your userid's connection. And even if you do see it, you may have some other privilege that permits viewing but not executing, like...
The role SELECT_CATALOG_ROLE
The system privilege SELECT ANY DICTIONARY
And even if you do not see it there, then having certain other privileges granted to you could permit executing it in general, like...
The role EXECUTE_CATALOG_ROLE
The system privilege EXECUTE ANY PROCEDURE
Also, note that the 3.0 release is a bit dated nowadays. Upgrading to 4.0.3 production or even the 4.1 EA2 (early adopter) release will, in general, give you a better experience.
Best wishes,

How to delete the content of a datatable by the "Database Adapter"
Hello,
i want to delete all entries in a table by a database adapter - like "DELETE FROM table" in SQL. (Oracle SOA Suite 11g SR1, with Oracle DB over JDBC))
When i create a new Database adapter i can select standard functions for "insert, select, delete". The function delete does have the disadvantage, that it needs a input message with the key values of the data entry which have to be deleted, which i don't have and don't want to get.
So i tried the "Pure SQL" mode for the adapter with the SQL string "DELETE FROM table" but this instruction is somehow not commited to the database.
My questions are:
- Is there any commit needed for the pure sql instructions? How is the syntax to write several SQL instructions for one Database Adapter?
- Does anyone have another solution to delete the entries?
Thanx in advance
TobiasHi Shishir,
it is a pretty simple example. I think the problem is that the Database Adapter is not commiting.
The BPEL is simple sending an empty message to the adapter which should trigger the SQL execution (See Code below)
The PURE SQL String i'm using is "DELETE FROM table"
Thanks Tobias
