• Recommended SLD setup for NWDI

I have been looking at the SLD planning guide and noticed a few scenarios listed there. Does anyone here have recommendations.
The one that looked good to me was the 2 SLD (1 for DEV and QAS) with NWDI connected, and another (1 for PRD).
I was wondering if NWDI is only connected to a non prod sld, will this be a problem when you want to migrate objects to production?
Also from what I gather in this guide, it appears that NWDI can have its own SLD. Are there any advantages/disadvantages to this?
Thanks

No this will not pose an issue, the NWDI uses the SLD only during the configuration process. Deployments are done independant of your SLD configuration.

Yes this is an option too. Although this does not remind me of any advantages, other than the ease(to a very samll degree) of configuration.

• IDOC setup for SLD

Dear XI experts,
I woule like to ask you when I want to do the PI setup for IDOC sending and receiving in the SLD, as to what steps I have to take for this. I had done the setup and chosen ABAP as a choice in the Technical and Business system, however, I am not clear where I should define the Integration server to be able to choose this when I create a Technical and Business system and do the assignment of the Integration server.
Perhaps I need to do step by step the SLD setup for IDOC sending and receiving from SAP Backend and viceversa to find what I am missing.
Thanks for your input.
Best regards

Hello,
Check this blog "How To Configure IDoc Adapters" https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/d19fe210-0d01-0010-4094-a6fba344e098

• Is there a setup log for when you run the DA role setup?

Hi,
Is there a log of all the actions that are taken when you setup the DA role on a server and then run the configuration process?
I have a Windows 2012 R2 server that I run the initial setup for the DA role and followed some of the basic instructions to setup for Windows 8/8.1 clients only. While the configuration process was running and showing what it was doing there was a
warning about NRPT and name resolution and something about adding an exclusion. I'd like to go back and figure out what that was so I can handle it properly.
Thanks in advance

• Role Creation for CMS

Hi Steve,
We use ant scripts to create domain and assign roles. But some how the scripts for role is incomplete.
Can you let me know, where the roles like 'Anonymous' and others should be specified in newly created domain. I mean where do we assign roles and privileges inside domain folders?
Cheers,
Lakshmi

Hi
> i need to create a ROLE only for Plant Maintenence (only Plant maintenence authorization).......
Search the roles for this module & make copy of this roles to zroles. After the zrole was created assign this new roles to that user.
Search the role by writing plant, maint & check which are related to plant maintenence & copy that role.
Again check all the transaction which are going to use in the module PM.Create a new role & assign this transaction in this role.this is another way to create the user with authorization only for PM.
For more details about PM modules transaction check the following link

• Role Name Server defined in SLD but no CimomURL maintained

Hello gurus!
We have a problem with our NWDI setup.
What I want to do is to update an existing track DFODEV02 with the software package EP-RUNTIME.
I synchronize with the SLD. However when I try to save, I get the following error:
"SLD (URL http://<NWDI_server>:<port>)
server exception: Invalid Name Server null - Check SLD configuration -> Role
Name Server defined in SLD but no CimomURL maintained."
I am not familiar with the customizing for this but I have looked into a couple of customizing steps related to Data Supplier:
1) Under administration on SLD I see the following:
Update Namespaces is marked as sld/active; but
Update Other SLDs is an empty list.
2) From the configuration on NWA:
Target URL: <RuntimeSLD_server>/sld/ds
Both 'Automatic send' and 'success' are both "true".
Hope that you can guide us on the right “track”
In advance, thank you very much!
Best regards,
Elias

Hi Elias,
1) Under administration on SLD I see the following:
Update Namespaces is marked as sld/active; but
Update Other SLDs is an empty list.
This is something else, your error message is not about this one.
What you need to make sure is that you have a name server defined.
You can check it in various ways:
A). go to CMS -- Track Data -- select the track in question -- tab Build Variants -- Display/Download the Development Configuration --> This will be an XML file. If you see a tag "sld-nameserver" then you are ok, however I assume this tag is missing or points to a wrong SLD in your case.
B)
Go to the initial page of the SLD.
2. Choose Landscapes.
3. Choose New Landscape…
4. In the page that appears, select the landscape type NWDI System.
5. Specify NWDI as the name of the landscape. Choose Create.
The new landscape is displayed.
6. Select the new landscape.
You see the details about the landscape.
7. Choose Systems and then choose Add System to Landscape.
8. Choose the hosted system type System Landscape Directory. Choose OK.
You see the installed SLD.
9. Select the SLD.
The details view appears.
10. Select the roles Landscape Server and Name Server and save your changes.
The name server is now known to the NWDI and can be used there. Only now can you create valid development configurations.
Could you please confirm this way whether you have a name server specified and that points to the correct SLD ?
I hope this guides you to the right "track"
Regards,
Ervin

• Error in NWDIs CMS

Hi Experts,
I am getting the following error when trying to check-in components in the transport studio of NWDIs CMS:
Unexpected error; inform your system administrator:com.sap.cms.util.exception.CMSUnexpectedException:
Pls help me to solve this error. How can I see the detailed error log.
Thanks and Best Regards,
Vijay.

Have you configured the CMS properly if not then you should use the File Transfer Method to transport the objects. Have a look:
File Transfer Method:
In Integration Repository object:
Right click on the Namespace which you want to send to Quality system and select the export option and export it....this will create a .tpz file on the server following path
usrsap<SID>SYSglobalxi
epository_serverexportsample.tpz
Above file will be copied and pasted in following path
usrsap<SID>SYSglobalxi
epository_serverimportsample.tpz
Similar procedure for directory
Right click on the configuration scenarion in development which you want to send to Quality select the export optin and export it....this will create a .tpz file on the server following path
usrsap<SID>SYSglobalxidirectory_serverexportsample.tpz
then login to the IR of the quality select the Tools -- Import option you will get this tpz file and import it and activate.

• CTS+ configuration for NWDI - Development configuration error

Hi All,
I really need some help on this. we are configuring CTS+ on Solution Manager system for NWDI, EP landscape (EPD, EPQ,EPP) and SLD system.
we made EPD as development system and trying to use CM Services to configure the NWDI scenario SDA/SDC Deployment.
I have created all NON-ABAP systems and created the CTSDEPLOY Http connections. I am getting the popup to configure the Development Configuration,"What is the User I have to use here and of which system?" and what are the authorizations required to configure this.
As soon as the popup comes, It is asking for the user ID and Password. I am entering Solution Manager (Admin user with all CMS actions also assigned) user then it is giving the following error on the screen. " Could not connect to SLD; contact your System Administrator: User SAPNWDI is not allowed to do this function "
I have give the SLD url correctly, and the admin user for SLD and Password. I have cross checked the user for password, every thing is fine.
I really appreciate your help.
Thanks,
Ramu J.

http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/90d3b550-b6fb-2910-0fa5-ece5d61fb9c3
Hi Ramu,
Pls answer me for below.
specified SLQ as my SLD
1.
You said SLQ is you SLD, but You configuring CTS on solution manager. but solution manager has its own SLD.
a. SMG solution manager SLD
b. SLQ is also SLD
If there is two sld then you should get error
" Could not connect to SLD; contact your System Administrator: User SAPNWDI is not allowed to do this function "
This is becuase you are giving the user which is present in SLQ SLD but CTS is checking the Solution manager SLD.
For CTS you should have centralied SLD.
2.
Can you tell me one more thing, in CTSDEPLOY do I need to give the SMG host and port number or EPD's host and Port number?
You have to specify the host and port in CTSDEPLOY of the system on which CTS contoller should work i.e EPD or SMG.
To resolve your all this problem first of all make the SLD as central . i.e Make solution manager ( CLQ ) as SLD or SLD system in you landscape ( SLQ ) as SLD.
don't keep two different SLD . If you keep Solman as its own SLD then CTS will search component from SMG SLD
Pls follow the guide
http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/90d3b550-b6fb-2910-0fa5-ece5d61fb9c3
3.
Could not connect to SLD; contact your System Administrator: User SAPNWDI is not allowed to do this function
Can you tell us in which system this SAPNWDI user is present
Check the SLD of of system in which SAPNWDI user i present
system is whether in SMG SLD or SLQ SLD
If you are not clear with my above suggestion pls let me know.
Thanks

• Landscape for NWDI

Hi,
I have an web application server WAS in a single box, and NWDI in another box. The WAS was pointed to the sld of its own. Now which sld I should configure to point NWDI to?
From my understanding both of them must point to the same sld, is that true? Should I use the one in NWDI, or I can point NWDI to sld of WAS as well?
Please advise.
Thanks

HI,
Please read this guide "Recommendations for SLD Landscapes" will help you how to setup the landscape with SAP J2EE engines, XI, SAP Portal and NWDI.

• Office 2013 RMS Client Configuration - Your Machine is not setup for IRM

Hi All,
I have successfully setup a test AD RMS farm but stuck at trying to configure Office 2013 to work with this. The farm configuration is as below
DC: Windows 2003
AD RMS Server: Windows 2008/ SQL Server 2008 R2
Client: Windows 7 64 bit with Office 2013 32 bit, Domain Joined
Client is domain joined and SCP has been successfully registered ( I can see the SCP in AD RMS properties).
When I open word and select Protect Document -> Restrict Access, the only option is to Connect to RMS Server and get template, which eventually gives an error
Your Machine isn't setup for Information Rights Management (IRM). To set up IRM, sign in to office, open an existing IRM protected message or document, or contact your help desk.
Surprisingly, when I open a document protected by IRM (from a different machine), IRM is automatically configured for the user and starts working from that point. However any new domain user login into this client faces the same issue.
Can anyone help identify the required registry keys that need to be present for getting this working on the client.
Thanks for your help
Anuj

Hi Manoj,
To install Microsoft Deployment Agent, you must be a member of the Windows
Administrators security group on the computer where you will install it. You must also be a member of the
Release Manager role in Release Management.
From the log, the user you‘re using seems not in the local administrator group. Please make sure the corresponding users has the needed permissions to install the deployment agent. Please check this
page for more information about installation of deployment agent. If you have any other issues, please elaborate more details about your scenario.

• AP Check printing setups for printing checks on your own

HI
I am wondering if there a good document which deals with AP check printing with MICR and signature on your own check stock
thanks

Recently we started to deal with AP check printing in our organizatin. It was a daunting task with the information and resources scattered all over and missing critical pieces of information to make sense out of the whole process flow. We attempted to go through the AP check printing internally and succeded.
I decided to post the information for the benefit of people about the our experience
Check Printing Basics and Beyond for Printing Checks on Your Own
by
Sarma Chilukuri
This article deals with what is needed to get your own checks printed. It is a first attempt to uncover all the hidden rules that one should be aware to get your own checks printed. The first section deals with the basic AP check printing setup, while the 2nd half explores some of the flow of events that make it possible to print the check.
Part I – Basic Setup
AP Setup for check printing
There are multiple steps in the AP check printing. First set of steps deal with the AP side setups. The second step is to get the System side setups. The system side setup deals with printer setup and program options setups. The last step would be to make the print format files configured with the vendor provided escape sequences in the laser print format file.
Step 1: login as Payable Manager
Step 2: Bank Setup: Navigate to Setup: Payments > Banks
1. Make sure the Bank # etc are present
2. Tab to “Bank Accounts”, and make sure your account # has been setup
3. On the Bank Accounts screen, tab to the “Payables Documents” and verify that Payment format (E.g., COK Laser Format) has been entered. This “Payment format links to next section where we associate it to the right payment program.
Fig 1. AP Payment Bank Setup Screen
Step 3: Program Setup (Setup: Payments > Programs)
As we know there are only 5 formats 3 of which are “Ever Green Laser” (APXPBFE G|L|F) which are explained in the AP Users Guide. For your own form printing, you have to associate the format to APXPFEL (laser format) program. Also, the APXPBFEL or APXPBFEF call the APXPBFEG, which is the base program that pulls the data from oracle base tables. APXPBFEL is the one which allows us to print the checks with MICR and signature on a plain paper not on a pre printed stationery.
Fig. 2 AP Payment Format Setup Screen
Printer Styles, Drivers setup
The above process summarizes the AP Setup. As a DBA, the printer setup needs to be validated. The base install provides the right setup to some extent. But the differences in printers and print queues may add some complexity to the final configuration. The following section discusses the set up the base install provides and changes as needed.
Step 1. Login as system Administrator
Step 2: Style (Install : Printer > Style)
Look for the “PORTRAITHPLJ4LASCHECK”. This one is associated with the SRW Driver Called, “APLASP” (AP Laser printer format).
Step 3: Driver (Install : Printer > Driver).
1. The “PORTRAITHPLJ4LASCHECK” is associated with a “User Driver” of PORTRAIT for HPLJ4 and and a SRW driver of “APLASP”
2. Also notice that there is an Initialization string at the bottom of it. This initialization string gets called as pre-report trigger for the APXPBFEG program (APXPBFEG.rdf) file. It sets the kind of format it should be. Please see the Appendix A for details on these printer pcl code translations. The Initialization string was as follows:
Initialization: /eE/e&l0o2a7C/e(s0P/e(8U
Step 4: Printer type (Install : Printer > Register)
Each printer type is associated with a set of styles. Make sure the printer that was selected has the above style and its associated driver listed against that.
Fig. 3 System Administrator Printer Seups
Step 5: Program Setup (Concurrent > Program > Define)
This step holds the key for check printing. It is necessary to define whether you need the check on top followed by the Stub or the other way around. The way it is controlled is based on the APXPBFEG.rdf, the report definition file and the APLASP.prt (Printer Style associate with the Portrait laser check format SRW driver). The APLASP.prt file ($FND_TOP/reports) has two identical setups called the 100 series and the 200 series. Those identical sets of setups define where the MICR and signature print on the check. The following table lists the some of the codes in the 100 series. Please refer to Doc ID #146452.1 for complete details.
Fig. 4 System Administrator Concurrent Program Definitions
CODE # Code Definition
100 Electronic check activation string
101 1st Check #
102 2nd Check #
104 Deactivate check number mode string
111 Activate MICR line
112 MICR Deactivation / reset the printer head position
121 1st Signature
122 2nd Signature
141 Address font activation string
199 Return to default state string
Table 1. APLASP.prt -- MICR Activation Codes
The above code block repeats itself the same way in the 200 series. The decision to activate one way or the other controls the Check printing.
Step 2: Setting up the Option block
In the concurrent program definition for the APXPBFEL, there is an Options block in the middle. You need to list the codes that you want to activate. Please refer to Doc ID # 186640.1 for some explanation on these.
E.g.,
p_printer_code_mask="201,211,221,241" p_sig2_amount="" p_sig3_amount="" p_sig1_vendnum="" p_sig2_vendnum="" p_sig3_vendnum="" p_country_to_ignore="US" p_continuous_stationery="N"
Step 3: Output format is Text
Text format is sufficient, as the printer will pick up these escape sequences anyway.
Fig. 5 System Administrator Concurrent Program APXPBFEL Options Definition
UIPRINT.TXT, UIFONTS.ALI
One needs to be aware of a few more pieces in this puzzle. The UIPRINT.TXT identifies to the Oracle Applications the print queues that were setup. This file is needed to set your PCL / Post Script printer definitions. I did not have to really tinker with these files other than identifying the PCL and Post Script Q’s that were setup on the UNIX box.
Part II: Integrating all the pieces
The above setups are all documented in various articles. We need to understand a few more steps to see how all these pieces come together.
What you need to know about APXPBFEG.rdf
APXPBFEG (.rdf) is the report file which when called pulls the data from Oracle. If you open the APXPBFEG.rdf in the Oracle reports, there is initialization to the report called, SRW.Init. This will bring in the initialization string associated with the PORTRAITHPLJ4LASCHECK driver definition file. Also, please be very careful with this report format file. When you open it, there is small tiny empty block. in the first block which calls the printer initialization code 100/200 under the Format Mask (from APLASP.prt). If this portion gets changed or messed up, one can end up with some unexpected results. Each of those blocks like MICR, CHECK etc… have associated format triggers and printer codes.
Please make sure that the printer mask is properly handled. I noticed that the 200 series MICR (211) and Signature (221) printer masks were tied to 111 and 121 respectively. These should have been 211 and 221. The other place you need to be careful was the printer code before and after is proper.
For E.g.,
For the MICR, the ”printer code before and after columns “ should be 111 and 112 (or 211 / 212) respectively while Format Trigger should reference to 111 (211).
Fig. 6 APXPBFEG rdf file printer mask and Format Triggers
The escape sequences in the APLASP.prt file for these codes will play the crucial role in getting our format around the report output that gets generated from the APXPBFEG program. Please refer to the explanation of these escape sequence codes in the APPENDIX A.
At this point when you run the program, you will see that the formatted output report file will have all the initialization strings and the output associated with that. You can compare the fields and verify the results. Let us closely examine the parts of the 111 and 121 where the micr and signature prints. The key to this to code the escape sequences the right way to get the associate MICR and signature print out correctly.
Fig. 7 APXPBFEG rdf file MICR printer mask and Format Triggers
Code 111 and Code 112 from the APLASP.prt file.
I broke the line into pieces to illustrate the exact escape sequence code.
Code "211"
Part 1: esc "&f0S" esc "&f0y0X" esc "&l0E" esc "&a0L"
Part 2: esc "(8M" esc "(s0p8.00h8.0v0s0b80T" --- This will be provided by the ROM
Cartridge provider
Part 3: esc "&k15H" esc "*p3215Y" esc "&a13.8C"
code "212"
Part 1 : esc "&f1x3x8X"
Part 2 : esc "&f1S"
Let us go over these 2 sets of codes carefully.
Escape Code Meaning Comment
esc "&f0S" Push Cursor Position
esc "&f0y0X" Define Macro ID 0 and Start Macro Definition
esc "&l0E" Define Top Margin at 0 Lines
esc "&a0L" Define Left Margin at Column 0
esc "(8M" 8M Symbol SetNote : As per pcl codes this happens to be Font Primary JIS Math 8 symbol MICR Part 1 : Provided by the Vendor from where you the ROM cartridge

The signature piece (221) has also similar meaning.
Escape Code Meaning Comment
esc "&f0S" Push Cursor Position
esc "*t300R" 300 DPI Graphics resolution
esc "*p1500X" Horiz position = 1500 Dots

The first part forms the symbol set , say (4B and the later part forms the signature font and ! is the piece. I took the ! from the above and let it stay with the 3rd part of it so that signature does not print twice.
esc "&f1S" Pop Cursor Position
esc "*p+121Y" Move down 121 Dots
esc "&f1S" Pop Cursor Position
Table 3. Escape Sequences for Signature in APLAP.prt file and Explanation
Summary
One can print their own checks using the above steps. This can work as a cost effective solution for small organizations where the budgetary constraints are tighter. We are successful in getting the AP Checks printed using the above method.
