Roll file overflow

SM21 sys log shows -
Roll file overflow(065536 blocks)
Roll out failed, return code -32
Roll out failed, return code -01
I was thinking of increasing below parameters.
rdisp/ROLL_MAXFS ( Roll file)
rdisp/ROLL_SHM ( Roll buffer)
However, the SAP strategy is using Extended memory for quick roll-out / roll-in. If Roll file is increased, will it not cause increased Roll-out/Roll-in time? Should I increase extended memory instead ( this is also maxed out ).

From taday morning we are getting contiously the following error on CI:

And only one time we have received Status: 90% of ROLLFL00 is in use.
The CI is on AIX and 40GB RAM. We are not getting this error on another dialog instances.

The value is rdisp/PG_MAXFS=32768
It is defult value after installtion .
As you said you have 30 GB of SWAP , so you can double the value of parameter as you have enough Swap on OS.
Set the parameter and restart the application server.

File-roller file association problem

Hi,
I have a problem with file-roller file associations.
When I double-click on a file in file-roller it always asks which application to use.
For instance, If I double-click on a txt file from thunar it opens gvim automatically. But if I try from file-roller, from an archive, it asks which application to open with.
Same thing for pictures. Thunar starts mirage automatically but file-roller asks which application to start.
It seems that file-roller does not read .local/share/applications/defaults.list nor .local/share/applications/mimeapps.list. I tried to modify both but nothing changes.
I am not running gnome but openbox.
I also tried from cli gnome-open foo.txt and, like should be, it starts gvim.
Installing gnome-mime-data didn't solved the problem. Maybe I am missing something?
Still searching on google for a solution. If somebody had similar problem and knows how to solve please let me know.

The link is working... it's not a nautilus quirk. Try these examples:
FIRST EXAMPLE:
Login as root and edit mimeinfo.cache (In openSUSE, the linux distribution I'm using right now, this file is placed on /usr/share/applications).
su
gedit /usr/share/applications/mimeinfo.cache
Search for audio/mpeg=
The first application I specify is going to be the program that File-Roller will use to open a compressed mp3 file.
Example:
audio/mpeg=totem.desktop;banshee-1.desktop;
This will open Totem...
audio/mpeg=banshee-1.desktop;totem.desktop;
This will open Banshee.
SECOND EXAMPLE:
$ su
$ gedit /usr/share/applications/defaults.list
Search for:
text/xml=MozillaFirefox.desktop
Replace to:
text/xml=gedit.desktop
This will open xml files with Gedit, instead of Firefox.

IPhoto says iPhone Camera Roll files can't be imported.

iPhoto says iPhone Camera Roll files can't be imported as they are 'unrecognised format' although are jpg.
Aperture and Bridge can't import them either so deduce problem is with iPhone Camera or Camera Roll.
Can import files to my MacPro from my DSLR and compact cameras - to iPhoto, Aperture and Bridge whether Raw or JPG.
iPhoto shows 221 imported photos and 357 un-imported photos as grey boxes.
iPhone software current version. Have tried restarting.
Mac Pro using 10.6.8, 8GB Ram and masses of HD space - running very well. Application software fully up-to-date.
Ideas?

I saw a process that seemed to work, in Iphoto , uncheck the " hide photos already imported box" which revealed the unimported photos in the camera roll, then simply select them and import them.

Deleting PAGE and ROLL files

In our current systems, during offline backups, we delete the PAGE and ROLL files:

1. Is still worth doing this in WAS700 EhP1?
2. What is the benefit of doing so?

I didn't face with that problem from release 3.0F on. It might be very specific case.
If it is just to gain space temporary, it is not really useful.

Camera Roll - File names and the counter

This is my first iPhone, so I don't know if this is a new issue or not. But one thing that has been bugging me is the camera roll. Some people leave all their pictures there, while others use it as a "temporary folder" until their next sync, and then they put those photos in other folders, etc. I used to keep all my pics in the Camera Roll until I got a lot of them and realized how slow it was for all of them to load when downloading them via Image Capture. I also hear all these stories online of people "loosing" their files from their camera roll so I now MOVE my pictures out of there, and put them in various other folders to organize them (like "screenshots" "family pictures" etc) which then get synced back to my iPhone for viewing.
My problem is, the FILE NAMING.
So lets say I take a photo. It is named IMG_0001.JPG
Then I take a screenshot. It is named IMG_0002.PNG
Then I sync my phone. Both are moved to my pictures folder, and removed from the phone. The screenshot goes in my screenshots folder and the photo goes to a photo folder.
I go to take another picture. But, it gets named IMG_0001.JPG
The problem here? I go to move that picture into a folder with others and I get an error saying that a file with the same name exists. I then have to rename the file or delete the old one to be able to put it in the folder.
So, whats going on? Why isn't that third picture named IMG_0003.jpg?
My Kodak digital camera names its files the same way. (actually, 100_0001, 100_0002, etc) and when I clear the pictures off the card, it KEEPS THE NUMBERING! (until I reach 100_9999, and then it goes to 101_0001)
Any ideas (other then mass renaming all of my existing files?)
Also, I am aware that I can use iPhoto instead as it doesn't care about the filenames, but then if I ever want to pull them out of iPhoto, I am still screwed with messed up file names.
I can't believe a bug like this still hasn't been fixed by Apple. There must be something I'm doing wrong.

Log4j - issue in configuring the file name for daily rolling file adapter

We have configured the log4j properties. We want to create back-up of log file each hour. The file name of the log file is MyApp.log and as per the below configuration after each hour backup file is created as
MyApp.log<<time>>
but we want that file should be created in follogin format
MyApp<<time>>.log

Cached Files Overflow

My SWF retrieves a xml file ( aprox 50 kb).
It retrieves it every 5 seconds.
In order to avoid loading the cached file (hence- not
updated), I add a suffix to the URL - "
http://myurl" + " ? "+
Math.floor(Math.random()*100000) .
The problem is that every 5 seconds the "Temporary Internet
Files" folder size increases in 50 kb. How can I avoid that?

It seems this topic has not been solved yet.
I found quite a few MB's of files in my QT downloads folder as you described. It's interesting how some of the subfolders have a current date, like today's date and time, but the folder is empty.
I deleted a few of the larger files and haven't noticed any problems.
An option I used was to change the cache size allowed in QT Player.
Edit>Preferences>Quick Time Preferences>Advanced>Download Cache

That does not sound abnormal, if there is enough space in the part of roll that is in memory no overflow to disk is required.
What is your system version, Roll memory has gone in 740 version...
2085980 - New features in memory management as of Kernel Release 7.40
Furthermore the Roll Memory became obsolete since SAP_KERNEL 740.

Local roll area and Roll area

Please refer to following contents from TADM12_2:
1. Virtual Memory includes local memory and shared memory.
2. Local memory is associated with individual work processes.
3. Local work processes memory is for: ABAP load; Data, stack; Buffer for database transfer; Local roll area; Local paging area.
4. The roll file and its associated buffer(also called Roll area).
5. The page file and its associated buffer(also called (SAP) Paging area).
In t-code ST02,
1. the first part is Buffer, all of them belong to shared memory.
2. the second part is SAP Memory, there are four sub-items:
    a)Roll area
    b)Page area
    c)Extended memory --> in shared memory
    d)Heap memory --> in local memory
I am confused whether Roll Area and Page Area here means local Roll/Paging Area in local memory, or Roll/Paging Buffer in shared memory?

Roll Area and page area allocated on local memory, and their buffer areas are allocated on local memory, also. This is because roll and page area are first two block on memory diagram. Those memory areas are dedicated to a work process and start to use when extented memory is filled up. This is related to Memory Allocation Sequence for all Work Process Types.
Please check the roll area parameters in your system. If the size allocated to roll area is low then background jobs will not finish successflly.
Please check the all other parameters also related to Memory Allocation.
ztta/roll_first: Defines the first part of the roll area that is allocated to dialog process
ztta/roll_area: Defines the total roll area per work process
rdisp/roll_SHM: Defines the size of the roll buffer
rdisp/roll_MAXFS: Defines the size of roll buffer and roll file
em/initial_size_MB: Defines the fixed size of extended memory
ztta/roll_extension: Defines the user quota for extended memory
abap/heap_area_dia: Defines the limit for the amount of local memory allocated to dialog work processes

Naming Photo 'Rolls' imported directly from a camera

Does anyone know if there is there anyway of naming the 'Rolls' to a title of your choice?
I've had a fiddle with this but it screws up the Rolls as I guess the ROLL file which contians the number of that roll references the Roll folder in DCIM/IPOD_MISC.

No it does not. I have one and know and link says for iPad only. The camera connection kit only works with the iPad

Log4j file appender

Hi,
I am using log4j for logging. I am working on a huge application and there would be lots of logs each day. Thereby it is requried that the log files be stored and renamed each day. The date is appended to the log file and that day's log file is stored. The logs start writing afresh each day. The problem here is that at times the application simply starts logging to the previous day's log file, for a while, and then starts writing back to the current day's file again. I am not able to figure out what goes wrong and when. The application is running on weblogic. Can anybody please help? The log4j properties file is here....

I found from the log4j 1.3 API javadoc, the DailyRollingFileAppender is deprecated. They use the RollingFileAppender instead and give one sample .

Camera roll and elements 12

I have elements 12 and a new iphone. It seems that all of camera pictures from my phone have automatically been included into my elements library without plugging it into itunes. What process is doing this? Is revel syncing the camera roll with elements and how can I disable it?

If you have signed into Revel on your Phone as well and in Elements organizer and on your phone, you have marked Revel to sync camera roll files, that could be the case. You may choose not to have those images in Elements Organizer if you sign out of Revel in Elements Organizer using Edit > Preferences >Adobe Revel.
