Roll out aggregate performance.

Hi, experts,
now we get performance issues about rull up step, it take too much time. even I have already try to speed up it. (implement notes 778709)
some question about roll up. anyone can tell me the detail steps when rull up job running?
  1. why rull up almost take almost same time when I roll up 1 request and multiple request ( 5 requests)?  I think roll up 1 request should be much faster than multiple.
  2. sometime, the later roll up job will cancel the previous roll up job if it start on previous job still running. why?
  3. anyone can tell me how to reduce rull up time?
  4. is compress request in cube can reduce time for rull up ?
thanks a lot

Hi Jie,
The roll-up adds newly loaded transaction data to the existing aggregates. When aggregates are active, new data is not available for reporting until it is rolled up. For information on aggregates, see below. The time spent for the roll-up is determined by the number and the size of the aggregates; if aggregates can be built from other aggregates, they are arranged in an aggregate hierarchy.
Take the following hints into consideration in order to improve the aggregate hierarchy and, thus, the roll-up:
•     Build up very few basis aggregates out of the underlying InfoCube fact table
•     Try for summarization ratios of 10 or higher for every aggregate hierarchy level
•     Find good subsets of data (frequently used)
•     Build aggregates only on selected hierarchy levels (not all)
•     Build up aggregates that are neither too specific nor too general; they should serve many different query navigations
Monitor aggregates, remove those aggregates that are not used frequently (except basis aggregates)
I hope this information will resolve your doubts.

  • Explain about Roll Out Project

    hi
Please explain about roll out project
    thanks
    ganesh

    Hi,
    Roll -out Project:
Extending the business functionality from corporate office to its branch office. Example: You have main office in USA and you implemented SAP. Also you have branch in India and want to implement in India. When implementing SAP in India office( having same company in corporate level and assigning a company code for India to the same company), you can say it's a roll out project.
    SAP Upgrade:
SAP Upgrade is nothing but upgrading the software with a superior version which has got more advantages when compared to the earlier version. Consultants are to go through transactions SPAU/SPDD to compare the old and new version of the change and finally need to activate the relevant one. Some times might need to work on SAP notes.
    Implementation Project:
SAP Implementation is the whole of processes that defines a complete method to
implement SAP software in an organization from Legacy System. It is based on best practices and case studies from various sources and presents a collection of processes and products that make up a complete implementation method to allow any organization to plan ,redesign and execute the implementation of SAP (ERP) software. The SAP implementation process is made up out of Five main phases, i.e. the project preparation where a vision of the future-state of the SAP solution is being created, a sizing and blueprinting phase where the solution stack is created and training is being performed, a functional development phase and finally a final preparation phase, when the last tests are being performed before the actual go live & then support.

  • Roll in and Roll out action in sm50

I am getting roll in roll out action in sm50 tcode because of this server getting slow please help me out to slove this proble.
    Thanx
    Kvl

    hii
this seems to be a problem with extended memory(em/initial_size_MB),you will need to increase this
The value of the extended memory pool size should be big enough to contain all user contexts. The rule of thumb is that the extended memory should be larger than the limit specifid by ztta/roll_extension parameter.SAP recommend this to be 10-15 times larger than  ztta/roll_extension parameter.
increase its(em/initial_size_MB) value and you will see a improve in the performance

  • Roll Up Aggregates

Could someone please explain to me what it means to "roll up aggregates"?  I've read through some documentation and it really doesn't make perfect sense to me.  Could someone provide an analogy or an example that could better illistrate what this term means in the BW world?
    Thank you!

    Hi Shelly,
Aggregates make it possible to access InfoCube data quickly in Reporting. Blindly one can say that repeated or slightly changed data can be retrieved from an aggregare instaed of an infocube. Aggregates serve, in a similar way to database indexes, to improve performance.
Recommended to create aggregates when the execution and navigation of query data leads to delays with a group of queries. When you want to speed up the execution and navigation of a specific query. When you often use attributes in queries. And when you want to speed up reporting with characteristic hierarchies by aggregating specific hierarchy levels.
Now coming to rollup, if new data packages (requests) are loaded into the InfoCube, they are not immediately available for Reporting via an aggregate. To provide the aggregate with the new data from the InfoCube, you must first load the data into the aggregate tables at a time which you can set. This process is known as a Rollup.
For this new data packages (requests) were loaded into an InfoCube.Aggregates for this InfoCube were already activated and filled with data.
I hope this will provide some insight if not full...

    2) Roll out strategy for E-RECRUITING 605, EHP5 Integrated model.(EREC & HR same system)
    Other Queries
    3) What differentiates a EREC Roll-out from EREC implementation ?
    4) What are the Do's & Don't in a roll-out ?
    5) What client approach strategy/methodology to be adopted in a roll-out project ?
    6) Which areas are the focus during a EREC roll-out project?
    7) What is the scope of EREC functional, Portal/WDA technical, Basis Team members in a Roll-Out project ?
    Look forward for inputs
    Regards,
    ER.

    Hi,
Every Roll-out of SAP modules is similar based on the functionalities required for each of the countries or employee groups rolled out to.
some of the Key things for E-recruitment Roll-out are-
    1) Processes are defined and documented in the Blueprint already which have been developed and tested.
    2) If there is any country specific changes, like language, external candidates profile, application wizard process, questionnaire.
    3) Recuiter should ensure to use appropriate process templates respective to the various roll-out specifics
    4) The project would be executed in the ASAP methodlofy with Regression testing of critical processes currently in process.
    5) Functional and Technical resources would be required based on the scope changed with the developed/ already implemented e-Rec solution. Basis and security are required from the server maintenance, assigning roles, performance testing and for updates if any to TREX
In a nut-shell, ensure you are combining and harmonising the Client specific processes with SAP standard functionalities for effecient maintenance and exploring various functionalities linked to MSS.

You don't need to upgrade your software.  But if you're struggling with Spry, IMO you should cut your losses and switch to something better for the longrun.
If you have a budget to work with, I highly recommend Project Seven's Pop-Menu Magic 3.  It's easy to use in DW CS4, 5, 6 or CC.  More importantly, it's bullet proof and works in all devices.
Pop-Menu  Magic3 by PVII (commercial DW extension)

If you don't have a budget to work with, you can roll your own menus with jQuery plugins.  A bit more effort on your part, but they perform better than Spry.

  • Ideas needed for easy java runtime roll-outs

On the cusp of Sun's newfound enthusiasm for Java everywhere I felt I had to post a few questions on the state of the runtime installers. We've been having awful problems getting the runtime installed on clients; Windows XP boxes are a particular problem as users have a very restricted set of privileges and write access - meaning that the runtime installation has to be run by someone with Administrator rights. This just isn't practical when we're trying to roll out a Java Web Start solution enterprise-wide.
In an ideal world I suppose the runtime would be delivered pre-installed and big pat on back for getting Dell & HP to agree to this; but even with their support they'res still going to be a lot of Java unfriendly PC's out there.. Anybody got any clever ideas on routes around these problems.. I've tried to document some of our frustrations in the first part of this document
http://lopica.sourceforge.net/services/ . During the process of writing the same I stumbled across Microsoft's Windows Installer Service WhitePaper which states:
    Operation in Lockdown Environments
    To decrease support costs, many
    organizations have locked down their
desktops by controlling people's ability to
write to the file system and registry. While
this prevents a person from accidentally or
    intentionally modifying their configuration,
    it also requires administrator intervention
whenever a new application needs to be
    installed. Since the Windows Installer
operates as a system service on Windows NT
4.0 and Windows 2000, it has the ability to
run in one of two contexts:
    - As the Local System account, which
has greater privileges than the user
    - As the user, which is the default behavior
In a Windows 2000 environment, using the
    Group Policy-based Change and Configuration
    Management, the administrator can approve
    certain applications, specifying that all
    configuration operations on those
    applications (installation, uninstall, and
repair) run as the Local System account. In
this manner, administrators can lock down
the file system and registry as described
above, and the Windows Installer service can
still perform installations on the person's
behalf. Only those applications approved by
    the administrator run with elevated
    privileges.
I've also run across "Provide .MSI file for Java, to deploy Java using active directory" (http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/bugParade/bugs/4854974.html). It appears Microsoft Installer might be the answer to both enterprise installation and the admin rights installation bugbear which really prevents us from offering users an easy install path. I'd be interested in hearing from anyone who has found any ways around these problems, are their any ms admins out their who've already repackaged the installers as msi packages and got the above deployments to work? Comments? Anyone?
..Finnaly (and can't resist a winge here) I find Sun's renewed interest in Java on the Desktop all very laudable; but the runtime support for Java Web Start and the Window ActiveX AutoDownloader are completely out-of-step. Web Start users still can't access
1.4.1_01, 1.4.1_02 or 1.4.1_03 runtimes from Sun's servers (as per the jnlp specs) (http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/bugParade/bugs/4827788.html) and support for other versions is very limited and always painfully slow coming online (http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/bugParade/bugs/4836169.html) (http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=38&thread=366655).
I understand these are special installers and require extra development alongside the better known .exe versions (which have they're own chequered history with XP & InstallShield issues). But come-on Sun, a little more forethought and support - please..
    - Richard

Does your msi just unpack the files or will it attempt to make the registry changes / os bindings that java plugin & java web start need?
The way around the privs issues with msi's needs some security policy settings being made - I'm assuming these can be done by the domain administrator for all its users - but I'm out of my depth here; this is only a solution for organisations with enforced polices ~ but very important nevertheless.
Sun seem to have attempted this in the past, but they're seems to have been a regression since; the following bug report suggests some manual registry settings that might effect the required changes.
Bug ID 4431060 Installer quits when run as restricted user in windows 2000: http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/bugParade/bugs/4431060.html
But I couldn't get these to work with the (purloined) 1.4.2beta msi, nor the java update beta test (v5.5.5). What I'd really like to know is how to setup a group policy to achieve the same with an msi package that really works.. and have the details about how to setup an msi deployment domain-wide.. the whitepaper suggests both are possible with windows installer.

  • Will current HD DVRs have ext. drive capability when 1.9 rolls out or ONLY the new 500 GB DVR box?

Got the email about the $40 upgrade to the 500 GB Motorola box.  I realize that once 1.9 is FINALLY rolled out, the box will have eSATA capability to tack on a supplemental HD.  My question is, can I just not pay their $40 for the new box and instead wait until 1.9 is rolled out, and then be able to use the currently useless USB port on my current silver Motorola 160 GB HD box to hook up a 1TB drive that I can get for less than the $40 upgrade fee?
Are they are any OTHER advantages to the new box over the existing ones (feature and capability wise...I don't care about recycled materials, less energy usage, etc)?

All the 7xxx series DVRs will support an external drive.  There are no plans to utilize the USB port - too slow to support MRDVR.
The 7232 has more memory (not just the disk) and is smaller, black, and supposed to use less energy (I know you said you don't care, but I mention it anyway).

  • Rolling out ADE to Open Access Computers in libraries

(In the UK). In Plymouth we are using Secure Electronic Delivery as the default to deliver access to documents provided by the British Library. Internet Explorer 7 (and this is also known with Firefox and other browsers) causes an ebook reader detection error as part of the downloading process "Downloading this eBook requires Adobe Acrobat eBook Reader version 2.2 or later to be installed on your computer" (even though all our computers are on Reader 7.0.9). The page then provides a link to download the latest version. The problem is that, despite being told to ignore the link and scroll to the 'download your ebooks' link further down the screen, many users are clicking the update link and ending up with Adobe Reader 8 without ADE, or a misfunctioning ADE because they do not have administrator rights, or a screen which hangs and does nothing, or an ADE that will not allow them to print. In open access areas all computers are locked to a standard 'frozen' image which is restored after each log-out. Users, therefore, are unable to save any changes which means that they also have to repeat the steps every time they want to download an SED everytime they log-in. (Yes, because of 'easy activation', we also have to make it clear to these users that it is 'download and then print' or there is no further access to the document, despite a 14day access rule; and no-use of memory sticks too!). We would love to be able to maintain our ability to standardise these computers on the latest version of the Reader software, but are unable to do so because we do not have the manpower to manually install ADE on each computer (over 2,500!) to make it part of the 'locked' image. We know the eBook Reader detection error is most probably caused by the underlying software technology difference between IE7 and Adobe 7 and would hope that installing Adobe Reader 8 and ADE would restore the seamless process that we had long established using the Reader 7 series!
Could not Adobe please consider a means by which, say ADE 1.5, could be packaged and rolled-out centrally? Then also consider doing the same for future releases - it would really make life easier for everyone. If not we will have to remain on Reader 7.0.9 and users will 'suffer' as the technology becomes more and more obsolete, and suffers from more and more problems caused by a widening gap in software technologies. We understand the idea behind the decision to make ADE an IRA (internet rich application) but the growing use of DRM and the need to delivery these documents within closed environments, to people who cannot be given full access permissions, means that there should also be a concurrent method to allow updating in such situations. Our 'problem' rate for SED is beginning to climb (from under 3% (based on 16,000 transactions) before the release of Adobe 8, to 6% afterwards (based on 7,000 transactions). Before the release of 8, 70% of the problems were because people didn't read instructions we provided; after 8's release, 70% of the problems are caused by the technologies (eBook detection; downloading Reader 8 and not ADE; ADE not functioning due to local permissions etc etc). These seriously affect the value of the service and also the perception people have of the service and of Adobe products (eg: the IE7 error states "Adobe eBook Reader not detected" so, even though your product may not be to blame for the users' inability to get to their document, they blame Adobe Reader, especially if they know they have Reader 7 installed!
My apologies for a long post but I consider it an important issue as well as it being important to lay out some of the logic and arguement as to why.
    Graham

Thank you very much for taking the time to write this long and accurate post. We are very much aware of this issue and are working as hard as we can to resolve this. It might not be possible to squeeze it into 1.5, but we will get to it as soon as we possibly can.
Can you submit a support incident at www.adobe.com/support/digitaleditions/ so we can try and resolve the immediate problem (incorrect detection and misleading message)? We can also discuss offline how your organization and our can work together to resolve the larger problem. Thanks.

  • BlackBerry 10.2 OS Begins Roll Out

BlackBerry 10.2 OS Begins Roll Out — New Reasons to Love your BlackBerry 10 Smartphone, Big and Smal
    From the Inside BlackBerry blog:
BlackBerry 10.2 OS introduces new features like BlackBerry Priority Hub, BlackBerry Natural Sound, and BBM now in any app that will help you be more productive and stay better connected when it counts. Plus, with hundreds of new refinements, BlackBerry 10.2 makes the things you do every day faster and easier. Here are just some of the new features you’re going to love in BlackBerry 10.2:
    BlackBerry 10.2 Highlights:
    Priority Hub
Keep your important conversations closer than ever with the new Priority Hub. Always at your fingertips, Priority Hub learns what conversations are most important to you and automatically puts those messages at the top of your inbox, helping you to stay focused on the critical items. On top of that, the new attachment view helps you organize files and documents across your messaging accounts and within specific message threads.
    BBM Video with Natural Sound
BBM Video has always allowed you to have a live face-to-face conversation with anyone, anywhere. Now, with Natural Sound, BBM Video and Voice conversations between BlackBerry 10 smartphones sound more natural and realistic. It’s the next best thing to being in the same room. We’re able to accomplish this because BlackBerry Natural Sound captures a wider sound spectrum, so you can hear subtle nuances that are lost in most cellular calls.
Instant Previews of BBM, SMS and Email from any app
Stay in the flow. BBM, SMS and E-mail messages now find you no matter what you are doing on your BlackBerry. See email, BBM and SMS message previews appear in any app – you can even respond to your BBM or SMS messages in any app or go to the BlackBerry Hub with a single swipe to respond to your email. Perfect for keeping the conversation going while you browse the web, watch a video, or use other apps. Of course, you can tailor these notifications to the way you work to ensure you’re only notified as much as you want to be.
    BlackBerry Keyboard
The smartphone keyboard that knows your next move just got even smarter. With personalized next word suggestion, auto-correction, and the distinctive BlackBerry keyboard layout, we’ve built this keyboard to help you have conversations with speed and accuracy. And on the BlackBerry Z10 and BlackBerry Z30, improved audio feedback with distinct tones for specific keys like backspace, and shift helps you type more confidently because you’ll have more reassurance you’ve hit the right key.
    Copy and Paste Enhancements
Copy and paste just got easier. Not only does BlackBerry 10.2 offer more precise cursor control, text selection is now easier. Once you select text, a pop up menu gives you editing options and direct sharing with BBM, Facebook and Twitter – so you can quickly copy, paste and share
    Faster, Easier Sharing
BlackBerry 10.2 learns how you share and who you share with, helping you reduce the number of steps and amount of time it takes to get your files, photos, or documents to where they need to go. Touching “share” in any app provides suggestions on who and how to share your files based on how you’ve shared in the past, and the feature only gets smarter the more you use it.
    Lock Screen Notifications
When the red light on your BlackBerry 10 smartphone is flashing, you don’t have to unlock the phone to see your message. Notifications on the lock screen now let you take a peek at the latest email, text, BBM, or notification to see if that’s the message you’ve been waiting for or one that can wait a while. You can customize which accounts appear on the lock screen and scroll over the icons to display the sender and subject line.
    Reply Now
Reply Now lets you respond to incoming phone calls, even when it’s not a good time to answer the phone. Easily send a response through BBM, SMS or email – choose from a list of standard automated responses or respond with a personalized note. Perfect for ensuring that important contacts are always given your attention.
    Calendar Enhancements
BlackBerry Calendar now comes with an ‘I’m running late’ function so you can instantly let meeting participants know if you’ll be late. You can even specify a new time in your notification. And, with a redesigned interface that makes adding an event easier, managing your time is simple.
BlackBerry 10.2 OS gives you a lot of new reasons to love your BlackBerry 10 smartphone, and we haven’t even mentioned the updates to Docs to Go, a new BlackBerry Hub icon, camera enhancements—but the best way to experience all BlackBerry 10.2 has to offer is to try it for yourself. Remember to back up before updating
BlackBerry OS 10.2 is expected to start rolling out in the following regions pending carrier availability:
    Africa: Starting this week
    Asia Pacific: Starting this week
    Canada: Starting this week
    Europe: Starting this week
    Latin America: Starting in November
    Middle East: Starting this week

The unlocked part really doesn't come into play.
It's controlled by the SIM card in the device, and by removing the SIM card you might be able to upgrade, per the directions here:

  • Issue during Template roll-out during FIT-GAT session

    Hello SD Guru,
Hope you all are doing fine these days...!!!
I am facing a typical challenging situation in my Template roll-out project based out of Europe and would need some expertise advice to tackle the current situation. As a matter of fact, we are using a Development system and landscape is :- DXX --> QXX --> PXX for major Consumer Products and Goods based client, The support team works for any kind of bug fixing and small CR on this landscape i.e DXX, Development for the earlier roll-out exist in the current landscape set-up with template version 1.0. Now since we are having changes in business operating model, we are having template based roll-out in the same landscape and the new template would be version 2.0.
Could anyone suggest what should be the mitigation plan when Support team, Template version 1.0 and Template version 2.0 would be co-existing in the same environment ?
Once the realization of the template version 2 is done and after that we get any specific bugs....where do we need to troubleshoot ? Is it template version 1.0 or template 2.0. The best line of thought could be done in terms of small example...lets say Have a custom program created due to template version 1.0 for creation of Rush order and Consignment sales based on business critical field maintained in a custom table, now due to some requirement gathered during current roll-out and this functionality is extended to include free of change sales with VAT. Hence functionality (sales order create program with custom table) come to template 2.0.
If you have ever come across this kind of situation, please share your inputs or any kind valuable approach would be appreciated...!
    Thanks,
    Sarthak
