Roll out or Implementation

Hi all,
IF there are group of companies, with different industry operations say A,B,C
Initially implementaton done for A company,
In the same system(same SAP software) if implementation done for B company after few years,
Then implementation of B should be treated as Implementation or roll out?

Hi,
If the Same process is going to be done at the other locations/operations then it should be treated as the ROLL OUT.
IMPLEMENTATIONS means if you are using the SOFTWARE and the Process for the first time in any country from scratch, then it is termed as IMPLEMENTATAION
If the same process is used in other countries then it is termed as the ROLLOUT
Basically there is also another difference from the  Business perspecitive, if Business provides all the requirements and if you collect the CHECK LIST and How the business in Legacy and by mapping it in SAP is termed as IMPLEMENTATIONS

  • Roll-out Project Implementation

    Hi Experts
In our Company SAP is implemented for Great Britain.  Now they want to go for global implementation like USA, Denmark, Germany, Canada, Mexico etc.  In that case,  I have some doubts.
    1.     Whether the same SAP package can be used for implementation for different countries, or do we have to purchase any new SAP package?
    2.     Configuration has to be done separately for each country.  Is it not?
    3.     In case if we have to implement for two or three other countries code 99,  how do we do?
    4.     What are the other things that we have to take care?
Suitable answers will be rewarded with points.
    Regards
    Venu

    Hi Buddy,
You need not purchase any seprate packages, if client wants you can you the same for the global roll out.
But you need to take care of the user licences.
2)You have to do the configuration for each country seprately, depending up on the client requirement.
3)In your case its almost like an implementation because when it come to module wise there all lot many client specific requirements will come in to picture.
    Wish you good luck buddy

  • Roll-out project implementation issue

    Dear colleagues,
This issue might have already been turned up but couldn't find any related threads.
We have created our template project, set up the structure, added project documentations (11MBs converted to PDF ), training materials, everything seems to be ok here.
Now we have to create our first implementation project based on the template. Template is defined and is public (visible), Global Rollout Functionality is activated. The issue is, when we cretate the implementation project the structure is copied from the template, even the training materials can be seen in SOLAR02, but none of our blueprint documents are copied to the roll-out project.
Have you ever faced such situation before? Do you have any clue where to find the root cause of this?
thanks in advance for your replies

    Hi,
Below mentioned is the details of using the SOLMAN for template rollout project. Hope this helps you.
The process of setting up and using the template in projects involves two or more individual projects. The first project is referred as "Master Project".
For Master project: Global Program Setup(Project Preparation)
    - Create a master project. this must be of project type template since this will allow the packaging of reuse elements.
    - Create the required number of templates(with in master project). At this stage, these templates are empty packages.
    - Select standard scenarios as a starting point to build business scenarios in the master project, in the same way as for a normal project.
For Master project: Global Buisness Blueprint
    - Detail standard scenarios to customer specific solution structure
    - Assign template(s) at the scenario level of the customer specific solution structure
    - Set global attributes to determine global/standard/harmonised/local processes
    - Describe global business and technical requirement.
    ==========================================
Reuse of template at local rollout site
    Project Preparation:
    - Create a local "rollout" project. This can be either an implemetation project type or can itself be a template project type if you may need to reuse sections of this project in its own right.
    - Select one or multiple templates and related scenarios in the scope tabbed page.
Note: there is no direct relationship between the templates choosen here. In other words you can attach tempalte form multiple other "master" projects, which may have no other relationship to one another.
    Business Blueprint:
    - The contents of the templates which have been attached to the "roll-out" project appears as elements of the project structure.
    - Processes defined as global attributes with in the template area dopted wholesale with no changes.
    - Adapt harmonised and local processes to local specific requirement(such as enhance process scope).
    - Document local specific requirements of harmonised or local processes.
    - Add further local specific structure elements as required and document.
Hope this help. Pls assign points.

  • Roll out Vs Implementation

Can anyone explain me the Difference between ROLLOUT and IMPLEMENTATION?
    Thanks,
    renu.

    Hello renuka,
This you can understand by an example of one scenario. Let us assume one company which has multiple manufacturing plants (multilocational) purchases an ERP and hires an implementation partner for executing the ERP project.
As per methodology of executing a ERP project there are two ways, one way is to go in big bang approach and another is go by pilot approach.
In big bang approach all the sites (multiple) sites and all the modules of ERP are implemented simultaneously, it is normally very tough and costly approach. This is called implementation.
In pilot approach, from multiple sites one model or pilot site is chosen for full implementation, and one model is created, and same model (with small alterations) is replicated across all other sites and this replication is called roll out.
hope this will clarify your doubt.

    shashikanth.

  • Difference between roll out and implementation

    Dear sapians,
What is the major difference between roll out and ene to end implementation ?
Is it  possible to rollout to N no of plants?
    Gururajan .A

The most important thing to do if you are planning to carry out an implementation followed by several roll-outs, is to do the analysis of the business processes across all potential future sites and not just try to use one central example.
In one implementation I joined they had used a small site as the blueprint because this site was easier to manage and it used most of the areas of SAP. But when it came to rolling out the solution, the first few roll outs went well (because the sites were of a similar size to the original site), but then when a major site was to be rolled out to there were MAJOR problems. In the small initial site some users were carrying out many roles / tasks, but in the large site that we were rolling out to there were several users to each role / task and this meant a redesign of most of the processes and different configuration.
So design for as many sites as you can and then you can roll out, don't just do the design for the initial sites then try to roll out.

  • US based implementation roll out for France and India

We have a U.S. based implementation that is rolling out to France and India , and we have the U.S. chart of accounts set as the leading ledger. I knew France and India has their own country reporting format. Is it OK to just have country chart of account without activating the non- leading ledger? What needs to be considered for this country roll out .
    Thanks

    Hi  Arvind
I have same requirement for  India roll out implementation ; If you have implemented  non leading ledger  then share your experience

  • Explain about Roll Out Project

    hi
Please explain about roll out project
    thanks
    ganesh

    Hi,
    Roll -out Project:
Extending the business functionality from corporate office to its branch office. Example: You have main office in USA and you implemented SAP. Also you have branch in India and want to implement in India. When implementing SAP in India office( having same company in corporate level and assigning a company code for India to the same company), you can say it's a roll out project.
    SAP Upgrade:
SAP Upgrade is nothing but upgrading the software with a superior version which has got more advantages when compared to the earlier version. Consultants are to go through transactions SPAU/SPDD to compare the old and new version of the change and finally need to activate the relevant one. Some times might need to work on SAP notes.
    Implementation Project:
SAP Implementation is the whole of processes that defines a complete method to
implement SAP software in an organization from Legacy System. It is based on best practices and case studies from various sources and presents a collection of processes and products that make up a complete implementation method to allow any organization to plan ,redesign and execute the implementation of SAP (ERP) software. The SAP implementation process is made up out of Five main phases, i.e. the project preparation where a vision of the future-state of the SAP solution is being created, a sizing and blueprinting phase where the solution stack is created and training is being performed, a functional development phase and finally a final preparation phase, when the last tests are being performed before the actual go live & then support.

  • Roll out project

    Dear Friends,
As a MM consultant what are the points to be consider during roll out project pls explain in points wise points must be rewarded.
      Regards
        Amin

    Dear friend,
i will give the essance, upto my knowledge..if anything wrong please correct.
    Roll -out Project:
Extending the business functionality from corporate to its branch office.Example: You have main office in German and they implemented SAP.Also they have branch in India and want to implement in India. When implementing SAP in India office( having same company in corporate level and assigning a company code for India to the same company), you can say it's a roll out project.
    Roll out example
IF client is on SAP and runing SAP
now he purchases new p-lant or set up new plant
then going on to sap for this new plant is roll out
IF client is on ECC5 and he want to go to laterast ecc6 or 7
then this project for ecc5 to ecc 6 is call upgrade
or conversion for non unicode to unicode client its also cale upgrade project
So roll out project means you have to copy what are all the things in the old plant configuration, that things you have to copy that in new plant code..
    1.Company code is already maintained
    2.give plant code
3.give storage location (how many storage location in new plant)
4.purchase organization for this new plant
    5.Purchase group
6.if any ware house module is there you have to give the bin, rack and related shipping point and delivery point, sales org, sales channel…….picking and packing….
7.pr number ranges, document type and output type
8.po number ranges and document type and output type for taking printout.
9 gr document number ranges and out put type and document type(mb90)
    10. invoice screen config and output type…….(mr90)
    11.pricing procedure
12.plant settings –both inventory and mrp related settings……..(u have to ask this information from your client)
    13.material master settings
14.vendr number ranges and related settings in account group
    15.rfq and qutotation related settings…..
16.if you have contract arrangement….then you have to give number ranges and document type and output type for taking printout
17.if consignment is there…..same number ranges, document type and output type……
18..if STO is there…..u have to give related document type and output type and number ranges………
    19.
\if cin is ther,,,u have to define chapter id, delivery challan,TC,registers RG23A,RG23C,RG23D, and other 57fc and 5fAC sub-contracting challan.
You have to confirm information related to account determination and account postings………
If production planning module is there, u have to confirm,….mrp and procurement information…because requirement is generated from mrp…….

  • Roll Out

Hi.. Could any one help me in knowing about SAP Roll out experience. I want to know what is Roll Out..

    Hi,
If you have an implementation for an organization whose business is spread in multiple countries, we go with an approach of global template implementation. Starting with head quarters the first implementation is done. Subsequently using the global templates will configure business processes for other countries. Mapping of business process for different countries along with respective localization in SAP system is termed as roll-out.
    Hope this is useful.

  • Roll out requirements of SAP in European countries

    Dear All,
We are in the process of rolling out SAP to our client's European business units based on our US based global template. Is there any documented procedural steps one must follow so that we do not miss any of the statutory/Legal requirements and some country specific functionality (config, reports etc) ?
We are presently looking for the countries Po, Hu, Be, Ru, Sp, It & UK. We are currently looking at country specific best practices baseline packages in Sap services Marketplace but if anyone can provide an exhaustive list of activities based on their past implementations, it'll be very much helpful.
    Warm regards,
    Kingsuk Mukherjee

a common requirement in all countries of the European union is Intrastat trade reporting.
And even it is common in EU countries, it can slightly vary from country to country, and Italy the most complicated in this regard.
For Russia you should implement the country version
for Belgium there is special OSS note "how to setup Belgium company code"
(and an umbrella is needed in Belgium, not a legal requirement, but a personal. I never had a worse whether anywhere else than the year I worked in Belgium)
You should do you fit/gap analysis on site to see whats missing.
It is always surprising especially if you have 2  companies in one country, they have  different "legal" requirments. Just had it today. we are merging SAP systems, and both systems have a company in Italy.

  • Roll out Projects

    Hi Gurus,
    GoodMorning,
Can anyone brief  about the "RollOut" projects. What will be done, what is the importance, how will it function.....etc..
    Awaiting your reply

    Hi,
Roll out is a step by step end to end implementation and GO live of all modules in SAP.
In a group of companies implementation of different SAP modules at different stages
Like for eg : SAP HR implementation is Impelemenating OM,PA,Time, PY and FI posting
on  a single server or Trnasfering the Results from the HR server to FI server without any errors
is an successfull implemenatation. This is done with proper Project Planning, Parrallel Runs , User UAT, Cut off Go live

  • Creating Company Codes in Global Roll-out Project

    Dear Experts
Our Company operates out of multiple countries and we have embarked on implementing SAP across all our subsidiaries in these countries. We are planning on a Single Instance Single Client Landscace. With this in mind, we have completed the Global template design for the overall Enterprise Organization structure and also standardized on the business processes to be followed.. We are planning to configure these in our golden client against a company code (copy of 0001) to be used as reference for the subsequent actual country roll-outs. The strategy for rollout in those countries where SAP does not provide any Country template, we will use BC sets to copy the GT configurations and move on with the country specifc configurations. This will ensure the GT specific configurations will carry forward to those country legal entities. Thi doubt we have is for those countries where SAP recommends we start with a copy of the country template. In those countries what is the best / recommended practice to creae company codes. If a create a company code by copying the country template (say IN01 or BR01), then how do I get to use all the configurations already done for the GT reference company code. If I just copy of the GT reference company code to create a country specifc company code, then how do the country specific configurations (that comes with the country template) be available?
Appreciate if I could get some light on this subject
    Regards
    NSK

    Dear NSK,
Did you find a solution to your problem?
We are facing exactly the same situation with roll-out on multiple countries on a single client single instance environment. We are still trying to create our Global Template in such a way that we can later on use it with all the aforementioned localizations needed for our subsidiaries.
Can you provide any information on how you dealt with this issue?
    Thanks and regards,
    Heraklis

  • Regarding Roll out Project

    Dear ALL ,
    I am a basis conslustant....
I have a query. In our company recently implementation got finished in our main branch.
They are obout to go for roll out in couple of months....
I want to know that as basis consultant what could be or what will be my responsibilites...as they will go for roll out in India and as well as other international branches.
Please suggest me....So that I can prepare myself properly, if they select me for this assignment.
    Thanks

Decisions about whether clustering or not should have been done before If you go live in a month, it's pretty unlikely that you will be able to set up a clustering.
You can't "distribute" a database across locations to do "load balancing", how should that work technically? Database nodes would need to have a HIGH SPEED interconnect - and if you have such a connection, network speed is not an issue However, it's possible to set up a FAILOVER cluster on a different location.
For more information about High Availibility see http://service.sap.com/ha
The SAP network protocol is VERY good, depending on the type of the connection you won't see much difference between working locally and remotely.
